"So what are you doing?" Carrie asked, stretched out on her sofa.
"Counting my toes," Kelly replied, wiggling her toes in her flip flops as she sat, waiting at the airport.
"How many you got?"
"Ten."
"Good for you," Carrie laughed.
"I don't know. I could use a couple extra," Kelly said, thoughtfully.
"Figure it'd help with the clumsiness and lack of balance?"
"You'd think, right?"
"You could be the first person to have toe implants," Carrie suggested.
Kelly laughed loudly.
"What?"
"Nothing. It's just that you're probably the only person I could have these types of conversations with that wouldn't consider me a complete dork."
"No, I still consider you a dork," Carrie teased.
"Toe implants?" Kelly smirked.
Carrie laughed, "You gotta admit, it would be cool."
"Whatever," Kelly giggled.
"So tell me again why you're flying back here two days early and by yourself?"
"Because one of the producers I'm working with had something come up and had to move our studio time up a couple days, but since it's so last minute we could only get one ticket for this flight. Don't worry though, Jason's here with me until I board."
"I still don't think it's safe," Carrie frowned.
"Care," Kelly smiled. "I'm a big girl. People fly by themselves all the time. Kids half my age do it. I'm gonna be fine."
"Yea, but those kids aren't known by the entire world or have crazy obsessive fans," Carrie pointed out.
"I'm gonna be fine," Kelly insisted.
"It's a nonstop flight, right?"
"Yes," Kelly rolled her eyes. "You're starting to remind me of my mother."
"She must be a pretty cool lady," Carrie grinned.
"I'll introduce you some time. I think you'd like her."
"And what about when you get there?"
"You don't stop do you?"
"Kell..."
"I'm gonna catch a cab."
"Kelly," she admonished. "It's an hour and a half ride."
"I'm only joking," Kelly laughed. "I'm gonna have a driver pick me up."
Carrie sighed.
"Care..." Kelly smiled.
"Yea?"
"Why don't you come pick me up? That way I wouldn't half to spend an hour and a half in back of some car, talking to someone I don't even know."
"Well, if that's what you want..."
"My flight lands at 6, ok?"
"I'll be there," she smiled.
"And Care?"
"Yea?"
"Next time, all you have to do is ask," Kelly grinned.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Carrie replied.
"Carrie?" Jason asked as Kelly hung up the phone.
"Yea, she's gonna pick me up once I get to Tennessee," Kelly said.
"Good, I didn't like the idea of someone I don't know driving you around."
"You're just as bad as she is," Kelly laughed. "If it's that big of a deal, why didn't I just drive myself?"
"Cause you drive worse than an elephant on speed."
Kelly raised an eyebrow, but thought better of opening her mouth. There were just some things that weren't worth it.
