Chapter Nineteen ~ Ugly Scars
~*~*~*~
“Sh…be quiet they’re still sleeping.” “Why can’t I be like her? I don’t see what he sees in her anyway, I’m more attractive than she is.” Another women whispered. “It is none of our concern who Mr. Jackson sleeps with, we are just his housemaids.” “I know but still…her? She’s got to be in her late teens. Barely legal. He could do so much better…” “Colleen.” The older woman scolded. “I’m just saying…” “No more talk about Mr. Jackson’s romance life…” “I wish I were her right now.” The one named Colleen said giving out a sigh. The older woman who I recognized as Maria let out a heavy breath. “Are you going to stand there fantasizing or are you going to help me clean this house?” “Sorry Mom,” Colleen said, as they continued their business of cleaning Michael’s house. Once I was positive that they were gone I opened my eyes. I looked up at Michael who was beaming, his eyes still closed. I sat up and stretched. “What do you think you’re doing?” I heard Michael’s voice, a couple octaves lower then his normal falsetto. He had just woken up. “Getting up…” I replied, as I was about to get off of the bed. Michael hand grasped my wrist and pulled me back into bed. “No you’re not.” Michael said pinning me to the bed again. “Michael please, I have morning breath and I’m a complete mess. At least you can let me brush my teeth first.” “Nope. Can’t do it.” Michael said, as his lips crashed down on mine. His tongue slipped inside my mouth causing a moan to come from me. His hand rested on my hip as our passionate lip-lock continued. Michael finally pulled away with a smile plastered on his face. “That was nice.” Michael said, looking at me. I nodded. Then my thoughts went to this mornings conversation between the two maids. “Michael, did you hear what--” “The maids were saying? Yes--” “And you--” “Crys, you can’t let what other people say about you affect you.” I let out a sigh. “I don’t care what they say about me Michael, do you find her attractive?” “Who?” “Colleen…or whatever…” “No. She’s not my type.” I breathed a sigh of relief. “Good, I was a little worried.” Michael kissed me again. “Don’t be, I only have eyes for you. Remember that.” Michael said, sitting up in bed. I followed, getting up. “I’m gonna get ready for the day…” I said glancing at Michael. Michael nodded as I exited the room.
*Fifteen Minutes later* “Hello again beautiful.” Michael said, entering the bathroom. By this time I had changed into a pair of flared jeans and a black button up sweater. “Hello, handsome.” I said eyeing him. He came up behind me and his hands began feeling up my booty. “You know you really, really don’t need that make-up.” Michael said kissing my cheek. I smiled at him through the mirror. “I know, but I feel better about myself if I put it on.” I said, winking at him. Michael frowned. “Why do you think so lowly of yourself? You are beautiful, and yet you don’t see it, you are talented, and yet you don’t understand it. What am I to do with you?” “I think I am, but I don’t get a swelled head about it because there is always someone more talented, more beautiful than I am. Besides, I’ve been let down too many times to think highly of myself anymore.” Michael frowned even more. “My poor honey. Who would wound you so deeply?” “Everyone it seems, you know you weren’t the only one my classmates made a joke out of.” “Why would they do that?” “I don’t know. I was always the outcast in my class. No matter where I went I was always the outcast.” I said, turned around to look at Michael. “I think they were too intimidated by you. So they shunned you. If they were to see you now…” “Yeah I know. They’d be flipping their lids.” I said running my hands down Michael’s clothed chest. I was leaning against the sink with Michael’s hands resting against both sides of the sink. Michael leaned in and kissed me softly on the lips then he pulled away. “I need to use the bathroom, I’ll meet you in the dining room.” Michael said. I winked at him before walking out of the bathroom. I rounded the corner when I bumped right into Colleen. The clothes she was carrying landed in a messy bundle on the floor. Colleen let out a sigh then bent down to pick them up. “No, no, I’ve got it.” I said, stopping her. I began to fold the clothes and put them the way they were before they landed on the floor. “Thank you, what’s your name?” “Crystal…you’re Colleen right?” Colleen nodded. “Yeah, how’d you--” “The conversation with your mom this morning.” I said, my eyes meeting hers. Her cheeks turned a bright red. “Oh God! I thought you were asleep. Please forgive me.” “Don’t worry about it. I understand that he’s one of the most desired men in the world. I have to get used to it I guess. Why he fell for me, I’ll never know. I’m pretty plain…” “Oh no! You’re beautiful. It’s just that your…really young.” “I’m 20,” “Really? Wow. You look younger.” “I do? Michael thought I was older. I guess it depends on whose looking at me I suppose. So how long have you been working for Michael?” “Two weeks. My mom is retiring, and she wanted me to fill her position.” “You’re pretty young too…” “Twenty-three.” Colleen said, looking her eyes meeting mine as I folded up the last shirt. “Hey, thanks for helping me out, I get a short break here in a little bit. Did you want to talk?” “Um, sure. I’m waiting for Michael to get out of the bathroom.” I said, handing the pile of clothes back to Colleen. “Okay, well I’ll get these put away then I’ll go on my break.” Colleen said taking the pile of clothes from me and going into Michael’s room. I walked into the dining to see Maria setting the table. “Good, you two are up. Jean’s been keeping your breakfast warm…” “What time is it?” “It’s twenty past eleven. Although it’ll be more like brunch now, but oh well.” Maria said putting glasses of juice down on the table. “Have you and Colleen eaten yet?” “Yes,” Maria said simply, before rushing out of the dining room into the kitchen. Moments later Michael came in and kissed my cheek then went to sit in his seat across from me. “Mom, I’m going on my break now.” I heard Colleen’s voice come from the kitchen. “Okay,” I heard Maria say. Colleen came in with two plates of food, placing them in front of us. Pancakes and sausage were on my plate while Pancakes and eggs were on Michael’s. Colleen then came to sit next to me. She didn’t even notice Michael. “Good morning Colleen, how is work going for you?” Michael asked courteously. Colleen jumped at the sound of his voice. “It’s going well, Mr. Jackson.” Colleen said, shyly, looking at Michael. He smiled. “That’s good.” Michael said, as he began to dig into his pancakes. Colleen put a hand on mine. “Look I got to get some other things done, so I will talk to you later?” “I’m leaving for Sweden today, sorry.” I said, my eyes meeting Colleen’s. “Oh, well, it was nice meeting you Crystal. Take care and safe journeys. See ya around Michael.” Colleen said as she got up and walked out. Michael looked at me and raised his eyebrow. “So she talks to you, but when I try to strike up a conversation she runs.” Michael said, letting out a sigh. I shrugged. “You’re a celebrity, Michael. Not everyone is going to react to you as they do to me. I’m not a celebrity, so they talk to me like I’m the nobody I am.” “There you go putting yourself down again.” Michael said, looking at me. “It’s true. But when they try to talk to you, your fame gets in the way.” “Why didn’t my fame get in the way when I talked to you the first time?” “Cause I know that behind the fame lies a real person, someone probably craving for the everyday interactions between normal human beings. You and I aren’t different Michael. I craved that when I was younger. Except instead of people screaming my name, people made fun of me and ignored the fact that I existed. I had very few friends growing up.” “That’s so sad.” “Eh, it made me who I am today. If I were that girl who was the most popular, then I might have made fun of you when you talked to me.” I said, looking at him. He nodded. I began eating my food. “I still don’t like the fact that you put yourself down.” “Michael, face it, my self-degradation is a part of who I am. It prevents me from aiming to high and missing the mark all-together and killing myself over it.” I said, shoving a bite of sausage in my mouth. “At least I have some self-worth, otherwise I wouldn’t be here today.” “Not be here today? Good Lord, why not?” “I have tried to kill myself several times.” I said plainly, finishing my bite and shoving another bite of pancake in. I could hear Michael nearly choke. “How? Why would you do that?” “I tried hanging myself once, I’ve tried to slash my throat once, tried swallowing a whole bottle of hydros, tried slitting my wrists, tried suffocating myself with a pillow…those are the recent ones I’ve tried…” “Recent? As in…” “As in the past four years.” “God, why?” “I wanted out. I was sick and tired of being lonely, being used, being teased…” “But that’s no reason to kill yourself.” “To me, at the time? It was.” “Crystal…” “I know, it was stupid…I’ve moved past my teenage angst now.” “When was the last time…” “When I was 19, after I found Jason was unfaithful to me with a buddy of his.” Michael looked down. He hadn’t touched another bite of his food. “But eat. I’m fine now, I haven’t thought about killing myself since. Especially since I’m with you. You make me very happy.” I said looking at Michael, who smiled then began to eat again. The both of us finished our plates then walked into the living room to and grabbed our coats. We both headed out the door and walked to Michael SUV, where Michael opened the door for me. I climbed in and waited for Michael to get in the drivers side. The smell was awful. “Oh…what the fuck is that smell…” Michael looked down and saw the dried up vomit all over the side of his seat and on the floor of the SUV. He looked at me confused. “Who the hell puked in my car? You didn’t did you--” “No actually you did. Someone drugged you at the club last night…” “Club, oh yeah Silk…I remember everything except after you went to dance with Jody…” Michael said getting out of the SUV. He came around and opened my door. I looked at him confused. “What are you doing?” “We’re taking the car.” Michael said looking at me. “You have another car?” “What else would have in the garage.” Michael said looking at me as he opened the garage door. To my amazement there stood a silver 2006 Mercedes Benz. I didn’t know the model of it, but it was a tight ride. “Wow, nice.” “Thanks, now, how about we go pick up Nadine and get your stuff packed.” Michael said walking inside the garage and getting inside the luxury car. I followed his lead and climbed into the passenger side. “Wow…heated seats.” “I know, isn’t it great.” “Hell yeah, what I wouldn’t do for a ride like this.” I said, my hands running over the leather seats. He started the car and drove it out of the garage. “You don’t have your own car?” “I wish.” I said, looking at Michael. Michael looked at me astonished. “Wow. Now you’re giving me ideas, what else would you like to have?” “Michael, come on, are you serious?” “Yeah I’m being serious.” “No, you aren’t going to get me a car. You are not going to pay for anything else for me.” “Aw, but I want to.” Michael said, looking at me. “Michael I’m not with you for your money. I don’t want it to look that way…” “Who cares what it looks like, I want to lavish you with the things you never had.” “Michael…” “Crystal…” Michael retorted. “You’re not going to give it up, will you?” “Nope.” Michael said smiling. I let out a breath in defeat. “Fine…I give up.” Michael’s smile grew wider. “Yes, now tell me the things that your heart so desires.” Michael said, glancing at me as we got on the street. The whole drive to Nadine’s aunts house, Michael probed me for my likes and dislikes, how I would decorate my apartment if I were to have one etc. We arrived at Nadine’s place and I called her, and told her to look out her window. Moments later she came running out to the car. “Oi, I love this car! Crystal you are one lucky bitch!” Nadine exclaimed as she opened the car door and got into the car. “It’s not my car, Nadine.” I said, interlacing my fingers with Michael’s. Michael smiled at me as we took off toward Nadine’s village.
