Epilogue
The boy approached the man, studying the plate that covered one side of his face. Hiding his disfigurement. His eyes travelled downward to the black gloves that hid his hands.
“He’s gone Sir.” The boy removed his work-mans hat. “I watched him leave. Are you sure you don’t want me to bring him back.”
“Very sure Josh.” The boy felt disappointed at this. The man turned to him, his left eye staring out from the peephole in the mask. “What was he doing?”
“Burying something at the entrance of the maze it appeared. A red book.”
“Ahh…that. I had completely forgotten.” The man started towards the maze. “Well it’smy pmy property. It’s mine now.” The boy followeckincking up a spare shovel as they went. Reaching the maze he began to dig. Unearthing the diary the man cradled it in his arms. He opened it to the last page.
My future is with Ewan and Jonathon and while uncertain I feel a peace like I’ve never known. He sighed. Perhaps one day they would meet again, perhaps…
“Boss? The architect wants to go over some plans with you. Something about a “very important for a recreational home.” He wants your opinion.” Josh informed him, interrupting his thoughts.
“Recreational?” He sneered, clutching the book to his chest.
“Are you okay Dr Lewis.” Josh asked.
“Never better Josh, but please call me Damian. Now come along. We have a brothel to build.
