Mine to Give
Chapter 1
The spray pounded down on the muscles sore from all the physical toils of the day. As the water pummeled his body, Hayden groaned in relief. It hurt, but it felt so good! Except where the cuts stung. Reaching for the soap he gasped, one hand pressing against his ribs. Gingerly, he moved, soaping his body with careful lathering, measuring how hard he could press before the pain spun colors behind his eyes. Hayden sighed and tilted his head to the spray. What a dismal day this had turned out to be!
It was his shortest shower ever.
He toweled his hair and draped it across his neck while he tugged on his boxers and sweatpants with great care. Sweat beaded on his forehead and he bit his lip until he completed the task with a huge sigh. The pain hadn’t been as intense, but still he opened the bottle of pain reliever and downed a couple for gooasurasure.
Hayden inspected himself in the bathroom mirror with a clinical eye. Yes, under one eye a purple bruise had formed, but he could live with that. The cuts on his shoulder and arm were superficial just as he had predicted. A hand slid along his left side. His body started with a jerk, bolting away from the touch. If only he had been faster when that idiot had swung that knife in his direction! The bruised ribs throbbed in protest at any examination. Lucky they weren’t cracked, the emergency room doctor had announced.
a, la, lucky me>
Hayden’s eyes fell absently on his watch resting on the sink counter. 8pm.
The eyes darkened in concern as he replayed the scene of a couple hours earlier.
A knock at the apartment door lifted his head, ears alert and waiting. When it happened again he made his way through the apartment and peeked through the peephole. Sable shoulder-length hair parted on the side swung around as Natalie glanced up and down the hall chewing on her lip, arms crossed over her chest. Hayden unlocked the door and opened it, his heart bumping a little out of sync.
Golden brown eyes widened in dismay and blue ones roamed over the petite frame registering the one-shouldered black sheath with white diagonal stripes that ended an inch above her knees. Dropping lower he saw the bare feet so out of place with the dress that he had to smile a little. She always did like to drive without shoes, he grinned to himself.
“Hi,” Natalie cleared her throat.
“Hey,” Hayden stared back.
“I…uh…” Natalie twisted her hands together, “I came to see how you were doing.”
Hayden stepped back from the door. “Come on in,” he invited, amused at her nervous fidgeting.
Natalie walked passed and averted her eyes from the towel around his neck and the bare chest it adorned. She had seen him without a shirt before but always at the set. A funny flip in her stomach surprised her. She waited for Hayden to close and lock the door and follow her into the living room.
“Are you all right?” Hayden asked before she could unclog the stuck words in her throat.
“I’m sorry to barge in,” the words tumbled out shaky and confused, “I know you have a date, but I had to see if you were OK.”
“It looks like you’re on your way to somewhere special but you forgot your shoes,” he chuckled, his eyes on her feet.
“Oh, I’m not going out,” Natalie blurted, shaking her head so hard her hair flared around her face. “After what happened to you?”
“Where’s Matt?” Came the low question.
“I don’t know,” Natalie shrugged, turning her back to Hayden, its stiff posture barely holding her upright. “I cancelled. I just wanted to be left alone.” Natalie swung around. “But I had to see you and make sure you weren’t seriously hurt…and I wanted to thank you. If you hadn’t…I would be…”
“Hey,” Hayden soothed, reaching for her. Strong arms wrapped around her and she rested her head on his chest, tears pricking her eyes. “You’re safe. I’m safe. I told you I wouldn’t have let him take you away. And Matt was there. He…”
“He stood by and watched!” The vehement words tickled Hayden’s skin. “And when you freed me he was going to drag me away and leave you there all alone! You could’ve been killed!”
Sobs broke out and her shoulders shook as she wept bitter tears of remaining shock. Above her head Hayden’s face sobered, the trembling body in his arms stirring his protective instinct towards her again. When he’d seen her being dragged to that car he hadn’t thought of consequences to him, he’d just reacted, his only goal to stop the guy at all costs. Even now the thought of Natalie somewhere with that nut, experiencing who knows what…it made him sick. Gentle lips kissed the top of her head.
Crying brought the cathartic release Natalie needed and Hayden held her murmuring nonsensical words, his hands stroking her back and hair. Eventually she quieted, hiccupping once in a while, content to stay in his arms.
After several long minutes, Natalie looked up at him with watery eyes. One hand lifted to gently touch his face near the bruise. The angry dark splotch along his ribcage she refrained from touching, but her hand splayed below it warm and comforting against his skin.
“You look awful,” Natalie remarked, eyes fastening on the bruise along his ribs.
“Gee, thanks,” Hayden’s dry retort brought the first glimmer of a smile to her lips.
Careful fingers eased the towel from around his neck. Along the shoulder a clean line cut a three-inch slit. Hayden spied the tightening of her lips.
“It’s not even deep enough for stitches or a band-aid,” he explained, his arm curving around her shoulders, guiding her to the couch. Insistent but gentle hands pushed her down and Hayden slid beside her, his arm holding her close to his right side.
Silence blanketed the room like a comforting quilt. No words needed, no words said. For a while they just sat, drawing on one another’s closeness. In time, Hayden laid his head back along the couch and closed his eyes. How long had it been since he’d felt this right? He wondered, his fingers drifting lightly up and down the soft bare arm and shoulder.
“When do you have to leave?” Natalie stirred beside him, her voice small and reluctant.
“Where am I going?” He asked, eyes still closed, brows drawing down in confusion.
“Michelle’s.”
“I’m not going anywhere.”
“Don’t let me…”
“I’m not. I’d already decided before you even came to my door,” Hayden’s voice hardened and dropped. “When I don’t show up she’ll figure it out.”
“You’re standing her up?”
Hayden chuckled with rich sarcasm. “She doesn’t know about what happened today. I’m sore, I’m tired, and I’d rather be sitting here with you.”
A warm, gooiness spread through Natalie’s belly. “I heard what she said at the studio. I had come back to get my car. I didn’t like it. Where she got this idea I’m some kind of stud is beyond me. Especially since I’ve never…” His voice abruptly trailed off into shocked silen
“
“What?” Natalie prompted against his shoulder.
Hayden’s eyes opened and peered at the ceiling. “Oh, nothing. And, contrary to what she said I do not ‘put up with you.’ I NEVER said those things to her, nor would I.” The dark blond head shifted to a more comfortable position. “You are worth a hundred Michelles and I’m sorry if she hurt you. Just believe me that I didn’t say it and I don’t think it.”
Natalie digested the words, a balm to her sore heart. “Thank you, Hayden.”
“And I’m not worried about me, it’s you I’m concerned about,” Hayden squeezed her shoulder.
Deep in thought, Natalie answered absently. ‘I’m fine.” She closed her eyes a moment and soaked in the safe feeling being close to him gave her. “Hayden?”
“Mmm?”
“What did you mean when you said ‘I’ve never?’”
Hayden’s eyes opened on the ceiling again and he puffed air into his cheeks.
“Oh, nothing.”
Natalie sat quietly her lips clamped together, thoughts of him storming in her head. “Tell me.”
“Why? Why does it matter?” His voice above her asked in exasperation.
“It just does,” she whispered. She felt his chest rise and fall. “Why have nev never?”
“Nat…”
“Please.”
Hayden squeezed his eyes shut in defeat. “It’s just never been right.” He paused. “And why are we talking about it anyway?”
“Because I’ve never, either,” the small voice admitted. Hayden’s stomach dropped. “But I was going to…tonight…with Matt.” A small, mirthless laugh left her. “I worried I’d kept him dangling too long and it was time. Shows how wrong I was.”
The cynical laugh bothered him almost as much as the idea of her entwined with Matt did. “He just froze, Nat. It caught him off guard.”
“Did you freeze, Hayden?”
“Well, no, but…”
“End of discussion.”
“Nat, I might’ve frozen if I’d been standing there with you when it happened.”
“Would you have left Matt there to face him alone?”
“Maybe…no,” he sighed, deciding against the lie.
“What I decided must be love didn’t stand up to the test now, did it?” Natalie asked, miserable at the thought. “If I loved him, I would understand and I would still feel the same as I did when I woke up this morning.” A thoughtful silence filled the room as they both dwelled on her words. “Which tells me if this hadn’t happened and I’d gone through with it, come tomorrow morning I would have hated myself, and worse, hated him. So, tell me I’m wrong.”
Hayden considered his answer and laid his cheek against her hair. “I can’t tell you you’re wrong. You might be right. Look at me. I was all set to at least consider going to bed with Michelle. After all, she certainly was trying to lead me in that direction.” Natalie made a face at the thought. “But, after what I heard her say about you, I lost all respect for her. I’m probably the biggest wimp on the planet, but I just can’t have sex for the sake of having it. The Michelle I heard today is not the one she led me to believe is her.”
“You’re not a wimp, Hayden,” Natalie’s quiet voice floated into his heart, “you’re wonderful, and she doesn’t deserve you.”
Hayden shook his head and kissed the crown of her head not even thinking about it. “I’ll be a…wha you you call them? A woman would be an ‘old maid.’ What would a man be?”
Natalie’s soft laugh brushed against his shoulder. “I have no clue, but you won’t be one of them.”
“Are you sure?” He laid his head back again and closed his eyes.
“Yes.” The word shook a little at the end and Hayden felt his muscles tighten in response.
He echoed the word in his mind.
A companionable silence settled between them and they sat in the dimly lit living room lost in their own thoughts. Hayden felt himself dozing off but bolted awake when Natalie shifted onto her side, her arm settling low across his abdomen far away from his ribs. She snuggled down, adjusted her head on his shoulder, and fell into a light sleep.
Hayden sat there, stunned. The shock of events today had done this to her and sleep was probably the best thing for her, but damn! Did she HAVE to curl up to him like a little kitten? The soft breathing reminded him of a purr and in the arms of sleep she cuddled closer seeking his warmth. It was only natural for his hand to stroke her hair, play with the tresses while she slept. He wound it around his fingers; sifted through the silky strands, put his nose to it to smell the clean, fruity scent of her shampoo.
A few minutes later Natalie opened her eyes and sighed, her hand curling on Hayden’s abdomen. The muscles rippled at her touch her her breath stilled. A sigh escaped her again.
“It’s going to be all right, Nat,” Hayden murmured, a hand twining into her hair. “You might feel…uh…what you felt for Matt again after a good night’s sleep.”
“I wasn’t thinking about Matt, Hayden,” Natalie said, pulling away to look up into his eyes. He stared back at her finding the oxygen in the room depleting as he lost himself in the eyes he’d once proclaimed were the most beautiful eyes he’d ever seen. He still didn’t know what possessed him to say that during an interview. A slight smile lifted his lips. The longer he gazed into her eyes, the longer she gazed back.
“Hayden?”
“Hmm?”
“Would you kiss me, please?”
Whatever he thought she was going to say THAT wasn’t among the choices. Struck speechless, he looked at her waiting for her to admit she was joking. Moments passed in silence.
“Natalie…” Hayden began, finally finding his voice somewhere in the region of his stomach.
“You don’t want to kiss me?” Natalie’s eyes widened at the prospect she hadn’t considered. Embarrassed, her eyes lowered, focusing on his chest.
His fingers tipped her face. “Yes, I DO want to kiss you,” Hayden stated, his eyes taking in her slightly parted lips. “But a lot has happened to you today. You’re vulnerable and I can’t stand the thought of you hating me later or thinking I took advantage of you.”
“I want to know what it is like to really kiss you,” she said. “Without a million cameras and people around to watch.”
“I’m not strong enough for this, Nat,” he explained, his voice dropping into the deep mumble he tended to get when he was uncertain. “Don’t hate me in the morning because you asked me and I responded.”
Natalie nodded. “I won’t hate you ever, Hayden.” Tears swam in her eyes startling him with their diamond brilliance.
The first brush of his lips opened the floodgates on too many emotions for which she had no names. Closing her eyes, she let him lead her down an unmarked, unexplored trail. If they got lost, they’d get lost together. All that mattered was the hand cradling her head and the lips placing gentle, whispery kisses on her mouth. Fingers slid down her cheek and neck while her hand lay possessively over the flesh where his heart beat a rapid tattoo.
Soft and slow, their mouths met and parted, parted and met. The hand buried in her hair let her move away only far enough to see his face. A finger ran over her lips, which placed a kiss on the sensitive pad. A spark ignited in her eyes arcing to his. A frission of exquisite need trilled up her spine as he drew her arms around his neck and carefully, protecting his left side, drew her closer to him. Willing to follow where he led, she tightened her arms around his neck and drew herself up to meet his mouth.
The gentle kisses started all over again. Attack and retreat, heer fer forced a deeper, more intimate caress. Natalie could feel his lips getting to know hers at a slow pace and the tender kisses he gave her caused a slight dampness that made her squeeze her thighs together to assuage a building need. No one had ever kissed her like this. All the time in the world lay before him and he was in no hurry. He just wanted to taste her and be tasted by her. A foray of fingers threading through his hair tugged a twinge in his groin. The velvet softness of her lips answering the nudges and caresses of his tore him from the planet.
The first knocks at the door went unheard by the two wrapped around each other on the couch. No one else existed. But, little by little, the rapping at the door increased in insistence. Hayden heard them but continued to kiss the irresistible mouth. When it wouldn’t go away he let her mouth go. With a long look at her, he rose and quietly walked to the door and peered out the peephole. Just as quietly he walked back to her and resumed his tender assault.
Then a voice intruded. Only his name. Natabrokbroke the kiss and scanned his face. On the other side of the door Michelle’s voice rose in impatience. Almost nose-to-nose Hayden and Natalie stared into each other’s eyes.
When the knocking didn’t halt, Hayden stood up. Sadness crawled inside Natalie’s heart and she wanted to weep. Hayden extended his hand and she accepted it with a fatalistic sigh. A half smile melted into her ais gis gentle pull on her hand took her with him. His calm, serious demeanor eased her disappointment. But he didn’t walk her to the door. Unhurried, he led her into his bedroom, drawing her into the welcoming darkness. Behind her the door closed, sending her heart into a nosedive. By the bedside Hayden switched on a lamp, his eyes finding hers, transmitting an unmistakable message mirrored in her own. Careful of his side, they lay down together, his arms securing her in this strange hypnotic world they’d created. If the knocking continued, neither one knew.
Lying half over her, Hayden found her mouth again and continued his explorations. Fingers buried and clenched in his hair at sensations Natalie had no defense against. All this slow, lazy kissing ignited a small fire in her belly, a slow burn of need for more of him.
Even the ringing of the phone didn’t startle them. Reluctantly, he finally lifted his head, ngernger tracing over her lips, that strange half smlighlighting his face in the shadows. Wincing, he turned and reached for the cordless phone.
“Hello?” His voice dragged and slurred as he rolled back onto his side to gaze into Natalie’s eyes.
“I have been knocking for over fifteen minutes!” Michelle’s voice blasted so loudly Hayden removed the phone from his ear. “If you hadn’t answered the phone I was going to call the police! Why didn’t you call me and tell me what happened to you today? I’ve been worried sick! And when you didn’t show up for dinner an hour ago and I found out why I came straight over. Let me in.”
“No,” Hayden vetoed her demand, his eyes never wavering from the golden brown ones. “I’m in bed. I’m sore. I’m tired. I’m going to sleep.”
The silence shouted. Hayden fixed the phone in the crook of his neck and commenced drawing random patterns along Natalie’s neck and bare shoulder. She shivered and it brought another smile to his face. Suddenly he sat up, his insistent hand urging her to follow.
“Well,e voe voice on the phone dipped with a sly ripple, “maybe I should come in aelp elp you get to sleep.”
Hayden’s fingers slowly eased the dress off the one shoulder. Natalie’s gasp did not deter his progress and she put up no fight, her eyes peeled on him as he surveyed the skin revealed. The persistent hand drew the dress down to her waist, baring her breasts to his eyes. His chest expanded.
“No,” he held his voice steady. “Not tonight. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”
It must be a huge pout, he decided, when she finally, grudgingly agreed.
“All right,” Michelle muttered, unhappy at being thwarted of her plans for the night. Again. “Sleep well.”
“Oh, I will. Goodnight.” Hayden pushed the ‘end’ button before she could utter another word. Moving over, he replaced the phone and returned to where all his attention was focused. Natalie had lain back against the pillows and he came down to her. Smooth and even, his palm journeyed over her shoulder and below her neck, his eyes pinned to hers.
“Decide, Natalie,” He breathed, his voice hushed but firm. “If you want to go, go now, because you are in my bed and I’m in the process of peeling everything off you to get at the skin I want to touch. I’ve never done this, but my body knows it’s yours it wants to make love to. It’ll figure it out for me, so if you don’t want this to happen go while I can still let you go without a fight. Otherwise, your virginity is mine.”
For long moments Natalie stared at him drinking in the harsh planes and angles of desire sculpted over his face. Inside she was self-combusting. Her hand found his and guided it, placing it over her breast.
“It’s mine to give,” Natalie whispered up to him as his fingers instinctively stroked over the tight nub. “And I give it to you.”
The sweet smile crossing her lips sealed her fate to his. His eyes drifted to the breast he fondled with a tender hand, curious at how he coaxed her desire for him to show. By the time he finished, quick breaths panted through her parted lips, the nipple pointed and aching.
Hayden’s mouth returned to hers more persistent than ever. Without a thought her mouth opened under his, eager to stroke his tongue and allow him to sweep into the moist interior to better taste her sweetness.
Natalie moaned into his mouth, mating with his tongue in urgent licks, the buzzing between her legs growing harder to deny. Her hands were everywhere at once, diving into his hair, curled around nec neck, skidding up his back. A finger pressed against the outer edge of the bruise over his ribs and he grunted but refused to part from her mouth, pressing harder, seeking relief from his own rising ardor.
As he’d promised, his body guided him through the maze of male/female mysteries. Unable to resist, his mouth left hers to search along the smooth texture of her skin. Little movements received rewards of whimpered pleasure from her. Below her ear he discovered a spot that pressed her body against his, racking it with shivers. Open-mouthed kisses on her neck caused her to fist her hands in his hair.
By the time he reached her breasts she was a quivering mess. Kissing around the shape of her, Hayden took his time, experimenting and fng hng her restlessness in the strength of her fingers in his hair, the gasps in her voice. He slid the tip of his nose over the flesh brushing the nipple.
The strain of anticipation stretched taut as he took his time arriving at his obvious destination, frustrating Natalie’s body. A restless hand clamped onto the back of his neck trying not to force the issue, the curls tickling her hand. By the time Hayden’s lips nuzzled the stiffened bud she had almost bitten through her lip. A shocked gasp shot from her when the warm, wet rasp of his tongue dragged over it. Her back bolted off the bed surging the nipple into his mouth.
Caught in the maelstrom, Hayden suckled her as if he’d done it a million times. The more agitated she became, the more he advanced his attack. Tiny, jerky whimpers fell from her lips mixed with deeper moans and groans and the purr that reminded him of his earlier comparison of her to a kitten.
After treating her other breast to the same onslaught and driving her senseless, he let go of her with great reluctance. Kneeling beside her, eyes on hers, he peeled her dress away, leaving her in tiny black panties. Appreciation of the flare of her hips ignited in his blue eyes, a hand wandering the silky skin, eyes studying the nuances of her form.
Natalie felt no fear or shame, just a deep-seeded yearning to be part of him. Hayden lay on his back, hands hauling her over him where she began her own field of research. Now it was her turn to taste and torture. After spending time trading duels with his tongue, she moved on learning what he liked. The slide of her tongue in his ear wrenched an encouraging groan from him, his fingers digging into her waist; and a well placed kiss in the hollow of his throat matched with a hand caressing over his lower abdomen sent his own fingers into her hair and snatched the breath from his lungs.
It was getting to be too much. She ded hed his sweats and boxers off him, eyes greedily stroking over his body. Watching him watch her with narrowed, hungry eyes, she rid herself of her last garment and came down beside him.
One hand propping his head up, he sent the other hand over her body outlining her waist, hip and thigh then returning to cup her breast, thumbing the pouting nipple. Curious, he slid a finger between her legs, meeting a wet slickness that sent her hips seeking his touch. Heart pounding, he slid his finger into the folds again eyes intent on her face and how his touch affected her. Her body twisted in the fire that he continued to feed with the kindling of his fingers.
Natalie rolled onto her side and let her hand roam over him, her eyes following its path. Sleek, firm muscles twitched at her caresses. His eyes drifted back and forth from her face to her hand. When her eyes found the hard ridged member between his legs her mouth dried. Excitement rolled her stomach, wet her thighs. Just the thought of him inside her almost set her off. She lifted heavy eyes back to his as her hand closed around the base of the warm length and slid up it examining it through a tactile exploration.
Hayden couldn’t help it. His eyes closed, her name released in a strangled whisper. A wondering smile touched her lips and met his when he opened his eyes. Smiling back at her he pushed her over settling between her legs.
“It’s going to hurt,” he whispered down to her, his eyes lost in hers again.
“Maybe,” she whispered back. “I don’t care. It’s what I want…joined to you. Remember…mine to give.”
Hayden lowered his head grasping her lips with his, meeting her eager tongue. Together they moved, her legs winding around his thighs, his hardness pushing against the opening that led to the very heart of her.
Easing the head of the shaft into her, he studied her face, looking for signs of intense discomfort. Once, her face grimaced in panic and her eyes fastened fearfully onto his.
“You feel so huge…like you’re going to split me in two,” she fretted in a whimper.
“Relax,” he instructed, his head spinning at the wet, snug grip of her. She was hot, the heat of her walls beckoning him deeper.
Natalie drew a deep breath and concentrated on relaxing and giving him passage. About half way, he stopped. A minute ticked by as she relaxed more, the uncomfortable intrusion fading. Experimentally, she moved her hips and Hayden moaned in protest.
“It’s going to hurt now. I’m right there,” he gritted his teeth, the muscles in his neck flexing. “I don’t want to hurt you, but, heaven help me, I can’t leave you.”
“Shh,” Natalie reached up closing his mouth with her fingers. “We’ll both push together. You take my virginity into you and I take yours into me. I want this, Hayden, every bit as much as you do.”
“Tilt your hips,” he instructed hoarsely, placingand and under her hips to help angle her. His breath hissed. “You feel far too damn good to be real!”
Natalie smiled, his words spreading a glow of pleasure through her. “On the count of three.”
Hayden nodded. “One…two…”
Hayden plunged down as she pushed up, trading her virginity for his. As he tore through the tissue that had remained intact all her life, she cried out a short squeal against the shock. Teeth bit into her lip to stifle the noise.
“I’m sorry,” Hayden closed his eyes and lay his forehead on hers, his jaw clenching frantically to control his body’s desire to plunge in again and explode into the incredible heat of her.
The pain dissipated, only a hazy memory. Natalie tilted her chin and kissed his mouth forcing his eyes open. “I’m not.” The tentative rock of her hips against his broke goosebumps onto his skin.
“Don’t do that!” He gasped out, and then groaned when she moved again. “Nat!”
The little giggle broke through his restraints. Retreating until he was almost separated from her, he watched her eyes grow wide before slowly gliding back into her depths. He repeated the movement, her hips following his retreat.
Always careful of Hayden’s ribs, Natalie met his thrusts with slow undulations. The overpowering sensations cranked up a notch higher every time his pelvis hit the right spot, or she tightened involuntarily. The kisses inflamed, growing from one to two and lly lly joining their bodies’ torrid dance. Natalie’s heart flipped, her brain imploding to needing one thing to sustain her: Hayden. Unable to string any coherent thoughts together she let her body take over. Bodies straining, the exquisite friction turned their desire for each other into a feeding frenzy.
Hayden tore his mouth away swallowing air to his lungs. Lightheaded, he rested his face a moment in the crook of her neck and shoulder, lips and tongue moving on the sensitive flesh. She squeezed around him in response, pulling her legs around his waist, changing the angle. Penetrating all the way in Hayden couldn’t hold back the tremors at the overwhelming sensation of filling her with himself. He didn’t go to church much, but this bordered on the spiritual. Reverence for her poured into him. He was becoming part of her. Lifting his head he found her eyes and hitched his hips faster, begging her to go with him.
Mind turning inw he he surged into her, no longer able to halt his body from grabbing what only she could give him. The sensual glide of her skin against his, the sexual contact of being buried within her walls destroyed the thinking, rational part of him. Animalistic growls rumbled in his throat as he pursued the release her body teased him to give her. She twisted under him seeking the same end, her fingers grasping for his hips, his shoulders, some part of him to hold on to.
A curse hissed passed his lips as he struggled not to explode and panic set in as he rammed into her willing body. The rush of his orgasm chased through him like a tornado, tearing out all his preconceived notions of this moment with her and hurling them from sight, changing him forever. He was always going to have a part of her, she a part of him. The thought pierced through his physical haze and he fought the desire to lose his mind, determined not to deny her the same blessed insanity he craved.
But she was already there, her fingers digging into his forearms like claws into a scratching post. Chocolate eyes slitted open to his then her head thrashed searching in desperation for something elusive but so close she could almost touch it if she stretched out a little more.
“Hayden…ah!..please…I’m…unngghh…OH!”
Hayden watched awestruck as her back bowed off the bed and her hips ground up into his in frantic circles. An ‘O’ of astonishment formed on lips that were rosy and swollen from his mouth’s plunder as wave after wave of spasms threw her body into overload. She clamped her arms and legs around him, no longer caring about the bruise on his ribs, only wanting him to ride the storm out with her. For the first time her body erupted in orgasm, the contractions sucking him in until he bumped up against her womb.
The intense squeezing washed him overboard into the electric surf with her. His hips bucked then suddenly locked and stilled as his body detonated into her with such force he lost all knowledge of his injuries. They no longer existed, for her delicious legs were anchoring him. She was all around him as he convulsed into her. Both trembling out of control, they hung on to each other, lost in the tempest.
When the last fierce contraction released, Hayden collapsed on her, his heart beating so fast he thought he might faint. He didn’t want to lose consciousness and waste a precious moment of being inside her. Underneath him, Natalie clung, her own heart jackhammering.
Sleep, his body ordered, but he fought it. A need to share in the aftermath of the storm with her warred with his physical side. His heart demanded it and when he moved to her side and she followed curling up against him, his heart won.
Natalie shifted on the pillow and gazed into the depths of blue. His hand cupped her cheek as his mouth found hers. When they brushed across her mouth, her hand reached out seeking contact with his flesh, coasting over his skin and reveling in his strength.
“Are you all right?” Hayden asked, stroking strands of hair from her cheek.
“I’m wonderful,” Natalie smiled and ran fingers up his neck.
“No regrets?”
“None. It was perfect,” she whispered, a dreamy smile plastered on her face. “I’ll never regret being with you like this. Not in a million years.”
Hayden grinned as she curled tighter to his warmth ducking her head under his chin. The chuckle rumbled against her forehead and she tipped her face.
“What?”
“You remind me of a kitten,” he kissed the tip of her nose. “You purr, you cuddle, you even have claws.” Natalie giggled. “You do!” He insisted. “I felt them!”
“I’m sorry,” she whispered staring into his eyes.
“I’m not,” Hayden murmured. “Not in a million years.”
