PART 2
At first Marshall was confused. The normally well lit living room was dim, the shades had been pulled and only one lamp, off to the far side of the room was left on. Marshall looked around with a frown on his face. Something wasn’t right. Alex was normally there waiting for him, attacking him the moment he stepped in. Where the hell was she now? He turned toward the bedroom as he heard a soft click. She must be in there puttering around, maybe preparing a little something something. Marshall laughed softly at that. Alex was certainly one for surprises. He couldn’t wait to see what she’d cooked up now.
Marshall threw his jacket on the end of the couch and quietly made his way over to the closed bedroom door. He could hear her walking around inside. Deciding not to wait any longer he turned the knob and walked in. But what he saw there made his heart stop. But just for a moment before he felt his face heat up and anger start to build inside of him. He realized then, that Alex didn’t know he was there yet. She was so busy in her task that she hadn’t heard the door open. So Marshall decided now would be a good time she see him. Without taking his eyes off her, he reached back and slammed the door shut. He took a small ounce of pleasure in the fact that she jumped at the sudden noise as she whirled around.
“Marshall! You scared the shit outta me!”
“Good. Now you wanna tell me what the fuck is going on?” Marshall asked, eyeballing the packed suitcase on the bed.
Alex didn’t have to turn around to know what he was looking at. She could see in his face how confused he was. He hated not knowing things, being out of control. His face was showing signs of anger and hurt. Taking a deep breath, Alex walked over to him and took his hand, leading him over to the side of the bed.
“Marsh, we gotta talk.”
“We really do, and let’s start with why the hell is there a suitcase on this bed right now?”
“Marshall, just listen ok? I wanna tell you something, but I need you to hear me out.”
“Aight.”
Alex took another deep breath and watched his face closely. “The bag is packed for you…and depending on what you say to my idea then I may have to ask you to use it.”
“What the fuck are you…”
“Marsh please! Let me finish ok?”
“Fine.”
“Ok. Marsh...” She paused, “I love you. It’s as simple as that. I know you love me, even if you won’t say the words, I know you do. We wouldn’t have lasted this long if you didn’t care for me in some way. So what I’m saying is, I want to be with you. Not like this, where you have to sneak away from your life to come and see me, I want to be a part of that life. I want you and me to be a couple Marshall.”
Marshall sat there in shock. He never thought she would ask this of him. He thought she was happy with the way things were. He’d never stopped her from dating other men, it would hardly be fair, considering he was with Kim. Why would she want to stop that? Why did she want to be with *him*? What made him so special that she wanted to be with him all the time?
“Alex I…” He started, only to be cutoff.
“I’ve never asked for anything before Marshall. I never needed anything before this. But I need you now. I need you to tell me that you want to try and have a relationship with me. I just want the chance. I can’t take being your call girl. Someone you’re with whenever your latest girlfriend isn’t enough. It was killing me ya know…when you were with Kim. To know that you were with her, probably screwing her as I sat here thinking about you, and then the next night you were here, in my bed. It made me feel like a whore. But I did it for you, because I love you so much. But there’s nothing holding us back right now Marsh. There’s no Kim, no girlfriend or boyfriend…it’s just us. So now it’s up to you. Because if you can’t give me this one thing, then I don’t want to see you anymore.”
Marshall jumped up at that. He never knew she felt like that. He always thought she was happy with the way things were. It wasn’t like she didn’t know he was with Kim when they first got involved. She can’t blame this shit on him!
“You don’t wanna see me no more? What the fuck is that about? And I thought we agreed we would never take this further then where it is now. You can’t ask me to give everything up just so I can say you’re my girlfriend. I know you want me. You can’t stay away from me. How long do you think you’ll last before you’re calling me up, begging me to come fuck you? That’s all we do Alex. We can’t be a couple. We fuck and that’s it. Who the fuck do you think you are, trying to make me do this shit? I aint like them other little boys you fucked around with. I make the rules Alex. I have to, if I let you take over, I’m gonna get screwed over again and I can’t let that happen.”
Alex watched as he paced the room, tears falling freely from her eyes. Her stomach felt tight and her throat was so closed up it was almost hard to breathe. She wanted to throw up. This wasn’t the man she fell in love with. He’d never acted this way to her before. Without actually saying the words, he just called her a whore. Maybe she was wrong; maybe he didn’t care about her. Maybe he was just in it for the easy ass.
“GET OUT!” Alex screamed. She couldn’t believe this!
“What the fuck? I paid for this shit, I aint leaven!” He yelled, standing in front of her.
“Marshall if you don’t get the fuck outta here right now, I’m calling every newspaper, every reporter, and every fucking tabloid I can find and selling my story to them. I don’t want to even look at you right now so get the fuck out! Take all your shit and leave me the hell alone. I’m nothing to you anyway, so it shouldn’t be too hard to leave! Now don’t let the fucking door hit your ass on the way out!” Alex yelled in his face, before walking over to the phone.
“Whatever bitch. Don’t call me when you feel like getten some, I’ll probably be too busy fucking Kim.” Marshall said, as he grabbed the suitcase and walked toward the door.
Alex ran after him and after spotting something grabbed the coat he left on the couch, throwing it at him as he walked into the hallway.
“Have fun fucking her while she’s in rehab asshole! Make sure you knock though, or *she* might be too busy for *you!*” And with that she slammed and locked her front door, before falling to the ground against it, crying her heart out.
