Part Two
“Hayden, did you hear what I said?”
Hayden lurched in his seat at the slightly irritated tone and blinked at Skylin. Coming back to Earth, he remembered he was seated in the hotel’s restaurant, eating food that tasted like sawdust and cost a small fortune, and supposedly carrying on an interesting conversation with someone he had recently started dating. Guiltily he glanced at Tove who took a deep breath and dipped his spoon into the fresh melon he’d started to eat before Skylin noticed Hayden wasn’t listening to her…again.
“Sorry. My mind was elsewhere,” Hayden admitted, surprised at his own lack of manners.
“Obviously,” Skylin flounced back in her chair and crossed her arms, drawing attention to the miniscule halter top tied precariously around her generous breasts.
Yet again, Hayden noticed how tan she was and wondered if it was natural or sprayed on. Actresses now had to worry about anything advancing the age process too quickly. With the advent of high definition television and digital projection, every line and crease appeared on the screen during a close up and more and more actresses were hitting the plastic surgeons at a younger age. If her skin was naturally tanned, it wouldn’t be long before she would have to worry about it, too.
The tap tap tapping of her high heeled sandal on the coral pink tile jerked him out of his reverie. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Tove reach for his glass of water while drawing another breath. He knew his brother wasn’t happy about coming to dinner with them, but he didn’t want to be alone with her. Not now. Not while he was still processing the events from the afternoon. Not while Natalie’s seduction of him still reigned uppermost in his thoughts. If he closed his eyes, he could still see her sitting astride him, whimpering, clinging to the headboard, throwing her head back as she convulsed around him and drove him over the edge with her into that electric sea of sensation. The desire to repeat that moment of ecstasy with her tugged at his stirring flesh. If he could only find her room…
“That’s it,” Skylin pushed her chair back and stood up in righteous indignation. “I am not sitting here with you while you ignore me. You know where my room is when you are ready to pay attention to me.”
Backbone rigid, she marched away from the table towards the entrance, her heels clicking on the floor, her hips swaying and demanding attention. And quite a few guys gave it to her. Tove and Hayden watched her go, neither one finding any words or desire to call her back. She was not quite out of sight when Tove turned to his brother only to find him lost in his thoughts once more.
“Bonehead,” Tove muttered to him, digging into his melon with a little more relish since the tense atmosphere had lightened with Skylin’s departure.
“Hmm?” Hayden hummed, toying with his fork and watching the lights glint off of it.
“I said you’re being an ass,” Tove huffed at him under his breath. The tone forced Hayden’s eyes to his brother. “Yeah, I figured that would reach you.” He scooted his chair closer to his brother’s to keep his words private. “Skylin flew here to see you, at your instigation I might add, and you are acting like she’s not even here.”
Hayden sighed and ran a hand through his once neatly combed hair. “I know and I feel like a rat, but I just can’t stop thinking about it! I have got to talk to Natalie! This is driving me crazy. I have to find out what that was all about!”
Tove rolled his eyes. “Well, that certainly didn’t take long.”
“What didn’t?”
“For Natalie to ignite a fire under you again after all this time.”
Hayden shook his head and glared at his brother. “And what would you do if you were in my shoes?”
Eyes thoughtful, Tove tilted his head as he considered it. “Consider myself to be infinitely lucky to have two beautiful babes wanting to jump all over me.”
For his trouble, he received another glare.
“Natalie is not a babe,” Hayden hissed, poking his fork at his salmon.
“Oh?”
“No. At least not my definition of one. A babe is a girl who’s sexy and hot and artificial and uncaring about using her body to get what she wants.”
“You mean like Skylin?” Tove quirked an eyebrow.
“Yes…no…sort of,” Hayden fidgeted in his chair and scowled. “I mean at times she’s more concerned with being seen with me than she is with being with me. After this afternoon I keep remembering that all our dates end up being in high profile areas where we can be seen and photographed. There’s no, let’s meet up here where we can’t be followed, or let’s just sit around and discuss literature or…”
“So, you suddenly like the more, uh, intellectual type?” Tove offered, scooping up the last bit of melon.
“There was nothing remotely intellectual about this afternoon’s event,” Hayden admitted with a tight grin. “And I have to find out why it transpired.”
“Have you asked the front desk where her room is?”
“Not yet.”
“Why not?”
Hayden rolled his eyes and shot his brother a bewildered look. “Because once I was able to stand up, let alone walk, Skylin rang to tell me she was in the lobby, that’s why!” His hand dug through his hair again, forming a new part. Tove noted the strands of hair sticking up but kept his amusement hidden. “What was I to say? Well, that’s nice, but I just had the most intense sexual moment of my life and I have to track her down so we can repeat it?”
“Well, it would’ve been an interesting conversation starter,” Tove chuckled at the idea. When Hayden stabbed at his salmon as if to kill what was already dead and cooked, Tove relented. “Listen, go to the front desk and find out where she is. I’ll stand near the elevator and watch for Skylin to show up. If she does, I’ll waylay her somehow.”
“You’d do that?”
“Hayden, I understand. I think you’re being horrible to Skylin, but I understand. I’d want to know what was going on, too and might have acted just like you.” Tossing his napkin onto the table, Tove signaled their waiter. “However, Natalie picked a fine time to play with your affections.”
“Thanks, Tove.”
Tove waved the thanks away as he stood up. “Besides, if I’d had to listen to Skylin wax lyrical on one more ‘I might get this part’ audition story I was going to run out to the sea and search for jellyfish to sting me to death.”

“She’s gone? But she just checked in today, you said! I saw her earlier!”
LaRue grimaced as his fingers swept over the keys once more.
“I don’t understand it myself, Mr. Christensen, but she has definitely checked out. I checked her in personally earlier today. She did say that she was only here for a short stay to recharge her batteries, but I didn’t think that meant a few hours.”
Hayden’s brows drew together to still the grin threatening to break. This was a planned event from start to finish. What a naughty, naughty girl. He would have never guessed Natalie had it in her.
The manager, noting the furrowed brow of a guest, strolled over.
“Is there a problem, sir?”
“No,” LaRue blurted before Hayden could answer. “Mr. Christensen saw Ms. Portman earlier and spoke with her. He’s trying to locate her again but she’s already checked out.”
“Oh! Yes, yes,” the manager smiled and nodded. “I checked her out myself! She seemed to be in a hurry.”
Hayden’s eyes widened, his body leaning forward. “Did she say why she left?”
“No,” the manager admitted, “but I did book her into another hotel.” When LaRue and Hayden both stared at the manager in confusion, he chuckled. “Not on this island. She caught a short flight over to Antigua. I have a friend who manages the desk at a resort there and got her a suite.
“Which hotel?” Hayden fought to keep his demeanor calm as his insides churned with the thrill of a chase forming in his mind.
“The Curtain Bluff Resort,” the manager nodded pensively. “A rather lovely place. Very private. Some of the suites sit on a bluff and have an amazing view of the sea…”
“Thank you very much,” Hayden interrupted, straightening. “I, uh, at least know there wasn’t an emergency.”
“Oh, no!” The manager exclaimed, shaking his head. “On the contrary! She was very pleasant and happy. She looked very relaxed, so I guess our room gave her the rest she needed.”
With that, Hayden turned away and headed to the bank of elevators. “Is that what I am, a tranquilizer?” The idea proved amusing and by the time he reached Tove he was laughing.
“What are you going to do now?” Tove asked as they entered their room. Hayden grabbed his backpack and began stuffing clothes into it. “What are you doing? You can’t leave now!”
“Watch me,” Hayden called over his shoulder as he ran into the bathroom to grab a few toiletries.
“Hayden!”
“I’ll let Skylin know I had a slight emergency or something and tell her I’ll be back as soon as possible. Maybe I had to scout a new location for that project we’ve been talking about doing. Yeah, that’s it.”
“That’s lying.”
“I don’t care,” Hayden shrugged.
“You don’t care? You don’t care!” Tove’s voice rose in outrage. “Listen to yourself! Are you out of your mind?”
Hayden zipped up his backpack and faced his brother’s imposing height. “I have to find out, Tove. I can’t function until I know what went on and why. I’m being rude to Skylin. I know. I get it. You don’t have to keep pointing it out to me. But I’ll be worse to her if I have this dwelling on my mind the whole time. You saw me at dinner. I couldn’t string two words together or hear a word she said. Antigua is not far away. I can chase her down, talk to her and be back in a day…or two.”
“It’s too late to catch a flight today. And don’t even think about going by boat. You need to talk to Skylin. You’ll have to wait until tomorrow.”
Hayden swore fluently and raked both hands through his hair. Rushing to the phone he punched in the front desk.
“This is room 515. I need to find the first flight to St. John’s, in Antigua. Wait,” Hayden rushed across the room for a pen, stretching the phone cord until the phone fell off the nightstand. Astonished, Tove watched him race around. Quickly, he scribbled. “Yes, thanks. Air St. Kitts. Got it. No, I can do it. I appreciate your help.” Stabbing in the numbers, he soon had the person who could help him and in no time he had a flight booked for late morning.
“I hope you know what you’re doing,” Tove sighed.
“I hope so, too,” Hayden agreed, going for the door.
“Where are you going now?”
“To tell Skylin I have to work tomorrow.”
“Hayden…”
“At least you don’t have to do my dirty work for me.”
“No, I get to keep your dirty little secret.”
Instead of feeling guilty, a wicked grin creased Hayden’s lips.
“I wonder how Natalie would feel if she knew she was my ‘dirty little secret’?”
Tove couldn’t help himself. He laughed. “You like that!” He accused.
Hayden stopped and tilted his head. “Yeah. I do.” He shrugged. “We’ll see if I still think so at the end of the day tomorrow.”
“You have one day.” Tove pointed a finger at him. “Then get your butt right back here.”
Hayden nodded and squared his shoulders to go face off with Skylin.
***
Hayden climbed out of the taxi adjusting his sunglasses to the glare of the early afternoon sun. The ride from St. John’s took longer than he had expected and the sun had climbed quicker than he had realized. Even with the dark shades he squinted as he gazed at the entrance to the Curtain Bluff Resort. Any other time, he would have stopped to admire the pristine, inviting setting, but other things crowded his mind, and none of them had to do with the swaying palm trees surrounding him. Hoisting his pack over his shoulder, he strolled into the lobby, his long legs making short work of the walk.
Because of the time of day, the registration desk stood quiet. Hayden dropped his pack to the floor and impatiently waited for the clerk to glance up from the computer.
“I’ll be with you in one second,” the clerk murmured as his fingers flew over the keys. With a flourish he punched the last key and lifted his head. “There. Welcome to Curtain Bluff Resort,” he greeted, his welcoming grin lighting his pleasant, brown face. “How may I help you on this beautiful day?”
He couldn’t help it. Hayden smiled back at the clerk’s cheery disposition.
“I’m looking for a Ms. Natalie Portman,” Hayden said, leaning on the counter. “She should have checked in yesterday evening.”
The clerk’s fingers tapped the keys, his lips pursed in concentration. Grimacing, he shook his head.
“No, no one hear by that name, sir,” the clerk responded. Running a hand through his hair, Hayden silently cursed, the clerk reading his thoughts. “Maybe I’m spelling it wrong.”
A laugh lit his face. “Esther. Check for an Esther Glasure.”
The clerk watched the screen, his white teeth gleaming in satisfaction.
“Now, THAT lady is here!” He beamed. “As a matter of fact, she is in the Junior Suite at the top of the bluff. Outstanding view of the beach and Morris Bay up there. The water is the most crystal blue in all the Caribbean. Very private, too. She is expecting you?”
A wicked grin curved Hayden’s lips. “Oh, yes. She is most definitely expecting me.”
If he had had any doubts before, he definitely had none now. In response, his body stirred in anticipation, the hunger sharpened by the memory of the previous day. She was waiting for him, he just knew it!
“Would you like a bellman to show you the way?”
Hayden shook his head. “No, thanks. Just give me the directions and I’ll find her. I’m only visiting.”
The clerk nodded and produced a map of the resort. Minutes later, Hayden was making his way to the bluff and the building housing Natalie. On the bluff he admired the view, the clear blue of the water refreshing, the curve of sugary beach tantalizing. A wayward thought of actually spending time here with Natalie infiltrated his mind, but his body stung him back into awareness, reminding him that there were other things more important right now. Clenching his teeth against his accelerating heart and hardening flesh, he found his way to her door and rapped his knuckles on it.
Natalie stepped out of the bathroom just as the knock tattooed on her door. Halting, heart in her throat, she tucked the towel tighter around her and stared at the door. Biting her lips, and running her fingers through her damp hair she tiptoed over to the door and peeked through the peephole, her heart thumping heavily as she spied Hayden on the other side. A heady tension coiled taut and the hand that found the doorknob shook. Wondering how she could be so aroused after yesterday’s fierce encounter she tugged the door open.
Brown eyes mirrored smoldering blue. Natalie stepped back to let Hayden in and he wasted no time in taking advantage of it. Behind him, the door slammed shut with a decisive click, his steps propelling Natalie backwards into the bedroom until a wall impeded any more movement. Long moments stretched as they stared at one another. Natalie’s eyes widened at the intent in his, her breath growing into short, agitated pants.
Who moved first was anyone’s guess, but suddenly her arms were around his neck, his lips crushing her soft mouth open, and his tongue delving deep, the taste on his tongue immediately familiar and painfully arousing. A moan of acquiescence reached his ears and Hayden’s long fingers found the edge of the towel, tugging it free and backing up an inch, just enough for it to drop to the floor. Hands curved around the soft cheeks of her rear, his level of excitement transmitted in a rough massage as he lifted her, trapping her hips to the wall.
Natalie groaned and wrapped her legs around him, her heart slamming into her ribcage. Whimpering, she fisted handfuls of his t-shirt, yanking in frustration at its refusal to give. An amused chuckle traveled up his throat and he pulled back enough for her to struggle with it, his mouth leaving hers only long enough for the shirt to be jerked over his head and disappear somewhere on the floor.
The contact of skin on skin wrenched a groan of need between them. Hayden’s hips jerked into hers and Natalie grimaced at the coarse brush of his jeans along her tender skin. Fingers delved into his hair to hold on as he shifted impatiently. One shoulder jarred a picture from its place the wall and the clatter of it hitting the floor startling them. Gasping, he pushed away from the wall and backed onto the king sized bed, plopping onto the edge, sending her open suitcase tumbling to the floor. Natalie yelped at the sound, but couldn’t stop, her tongue fighting his, her attention welded on him. Strong hands pushed her away and back ripping a surprised cry from her that broke off into a strangled hiss as his mouth closed over her nipple, the rasp of his tongue worrying it into a ripe berry. Licking it sent a rush of molten desire leaking from her and frantic fingers scrabbling at the button on his jeans.
Understanding, Hayden charged to his feet his eyes flashing open for a second to find a flat surface. The desk a few feet away, he deposited her onto it, his hand sweeping off the breakfast tray from earlier. It hit the floor with a crash, pieces of dishes, mug, and silverware sliding along the smooth surface. Next went the stationery and brochures. Neither noticed. Natalie ripped the button free and unzipped him as his hands landed flat on each side of her hips, his mouth devouring hers with animal hunger. Operating on instinct, she pushed the material over his hips her fingers sliding longingly over his bottom then around the front to encircle the throbbing shaft, her fingers stroking the velvety staff. He tore his mouth from hers and groaned at the jagged arousal stinging through him before blindly searching once more for the plump contours of her lips.
In moments, he was out of his clothes, his hands ruthlessly pushing her legs farther apart to aid his entry. The length of him glided in assisted by the wet heat smearing her thighs and inner walls. A wail of yearning erupted from her, harmonizing with his earthy growl. He stroked her with enthusiastic thrusts, his eyes taking in her damp hair curling onto her shoulders, her lips red and swollen from his kisses, her breasts slightly jiggling from the force of their mating. Natalie’s eyes snagged his and they gazed at one another as the overwhelming sensation spiraled them quickly towards the summit. Hands that tunneled through his hair released him as she lay back, stretching her arms over her head, her hands clasping the edge of the desk, the provocative pose tilting the corner of his mouth in a sinful half grin. Gripping the desk she arched her back to change the angle and cried out as he penetrated her with even more force.
“Oh, Hayden, yessss…” Natalie sighed, her eyes squeezing shut. Her inner walls leaked, coating his pistoning length with their juices.
The sight of her sprawled below him like a slave serving her master sent his erection surging, elongating to a point bordering on pleasure and pain. Grunting, he leaned over her, planting his hands on each side of her head, his eyes boring into hers. Natalie’s legs slid down his changing the angle again, his body grinding against the apex of her thighs. Immediately, her walls clamped down in response and Hayden grimaced as the pleasure shot through him, spiking his need to erupt into her.
“Damn, Natalie…” he gasped when she whimpered and writhed against him in helpless abandon. Her begging cries assailed his ears and he bent, his mouth suckling her with sharp rapid flicks of his tongue.
“Yes.” Her head thrashed helplessly along the hard wood of the desk as she chanted. “Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes…”
No longer content with thrusting, he ground against her, not letting her swollen nub rest. A red hue spread over her chest and up her neck and Hayden watched her body begin to tremble, her insides fluttering in frenzied expectation. The sound of her impassioned cries echoed through the room, rising in volume and pitch until...
A keening wail pealed from her lips as her body bowed and shuddered into spasms, reacting to his incessant attention. Colors burst behind her eyelids and Natalie dove into her orgasm her focus on what Hayden was doing to her. Hayden followed her with a roar as her body squeezed and released him in an erotic massage bent on draining him of every drop of seed. The world diminished to her and the incredible commotion sizzling through him. Joined to her, he rode the wave until her legs flexed around him once more and she sighed heavily, signaling her body’s exhaustion. Hands released their death grip on the desk and reached for him as his face nuzzled against her neck, his breath steamy against her damp skin. Fingers threaded into his hair and sifted soothingly, the action slowly calming his racing heart. When he managed to lift his head, their lips softly brushed together over and over until a small smile painted his mouth. Sated eyes found hers and his mouth opened, but as before, her hand pressed gently, stopping any words from escaping. Unsure, he searched her eyes, but they smiled back and blinked sleepily before her arms gathered him close.
Hayden grunted at the now uncomfortable position and pushed himself up with one hand, securing her to him with the other. Arms tightened around his neck and he lifted her off the desk, his eyes searching for the bathroom door. Finding it, he carried the bundle tangled around him through the door. Lavishly decorated in marble and granite, the bathroom screamed of decadent opulence from the gold fixtures to the sauna to the sunken tub. Longingly, he eyed the shower and its possibilities but knowing his legs would never hold him he opted for the tub, setting Natalie onto her feet so he could turn the taps. Once the water spilled from the gold spigot he stepped into the water, easing her after him. Sitting, he guided her between his legs and she rested back against him with a contented sigh.
The water level rose while they rested quietly, each lost to their own thoughts. Hayden’s rifled continually through the past twenty-four hours and her refusal to speak about it. Three times now they had come together in what had to be the most perfect sex ever, but why did she insist on silence? What kind of game was this and why was he such a willing partner? Hayden’s chin rested on top Natalie’s head as he contemplated her motives.
Maybe I should just let it alone for now, he thought to himself, and enjoy the game. His brows rose. Game. She’s playing a game with me. The idea had merit. Why she wanted to play didn’t matter. The dazed look in those sexy brown eyes when he took her over the top were reward enough. Damn! Already his body was stirring again! When did that become physically possible for him? There was no way he dredge up a repeat performance.
Natalie shifted, carefully turning in the water, gingerly placing each knee beside his thighs to sit astride him. Hayden fixed her with a teasing, wary glance, one hand sliding up her smooth, wet back to wrap around a hank of hair. Playfully, she resisted and he growled low and threatening, jerking her closer, his mouth covering her mock gasp of outrage. In a nanosecond her cry of affront melted into a moan of desire so sharp Hayden felt it stab deep into his belly, his heart stumbling all over his ribcage as if it had spent hours on a drinking binge and could no longer hold a steady beat. Swiping his tongue along hers he angled his head to better grasp her lips, his teeth biting into her lower lip. Breaking the kiss, he tugged on her lip with his teeth watching her eyes open just as his tongue poked out to lick the tiny dents he’d inflicted in the soft flesh.
“Damn, Hayden….” She gasped echoing his earlier sentiment moments before her hips twitched in response, her lower body grazing the tip of his manhood over her sensitized button. All her concentration pooled to focus on the stimulating sparks igniting through her.
Hayden grimaced, his body wanting her all over again, but screaming its fatigue at the same time. Natalie’s body nudged his again and she lifted eyes the color of dark, thick molasses to his.
“I don’t think I have any energy left,” he whispered even as his hands cupped the satiny twin globes of her rear.
He was still hard beneath her. While he thought his body couldn’t perform, his heart shouted the opposite so loudly Natalie swore she could hear it. A sinful gleam shot gold flecks into her eyes and his widened as she pushed down, impaling herself onto his thick, rigid erection.
A hoarse, tortured groan rumbled in his chest. With a deft twist of her hips, Natalie undulated against him, stirring the water around them. A frission of lust rippled up her spine. In response, Hayden kneaded his fingers into her cheeks and guided her along his shaft, up and down, back and forth. As she moved gently in the heated water, his mouth slid along the cord of her neck, sucking the skin with tantalizing force, the suction just short of marking her. Slim arms wound around his neck as her head fell to one side, giving him blatant access to wherever he wished to venture. His hands longed to slide up her ribcage and around her breasts but the feel of her bottom in the palms of his hands proved too tempting to leave, so his mouth forayed a path to the sweet flesh of her breasts. The sharply drawn hiss of air between her teeth arrowed into his groin. Finding the hardened tip his mouth suckled over it, licking it with long, leisurely licks as if he was enjoying an ice cream cone. Her body bucked against him, her inner walls painting his member with more lubrication, easing the friction to a smooth, honeyed glide.
Over and over he paid homage to her, lavishing the points of her breasts with a barrage of provocation so potent she strained to feed air to her parched lungs. Fingers diving into his hair tugged and twisted the strands as he bore her down onto his length, his hips surging upwards. A thrill of warning surged from her brain to her sex, commanding it to let go before she passed out. His name stammered from her, warning him, but he was already there. Wet and thirsty lips latched onto hers as the cry of release shot up her throat. Her upper body welded to his, but her lower half jerked and rocked in a rapid dance, the water swelling over the top of the tub and pooling at its edge in tiny puddles.
In spite of his brain telling him differently, Hayden’s body followed her into climax, the more gentle release just as compelling as the first convulsive one twenty-four hours earlier. Their bodies strained against one another, hips rubbing to release every stinging shock they could find. Breath snagging in his throat, he fought for air, his mouth ripping from hers and landing beside her ear where his labored, satisfied grunt pulsed along her eardrum and throughout her body.
Nothing had prepared them for the leaden fatigue left in the wake of so much physical exertion. Hayden held her close kissing her tenderly, her response lifting a corner of his mouth as he tilted his forehead against hers and heard her tiny sigh. When he made to move, Natalie’s arms strangled around him and she burrowed closer, her face wedging against his neck. Arms surrounded her and hugged her close, easing the confusing inner turmoil he could feel swirling inside her.
Minutes passed, the water cooling to a tepid, but not uncomfortable temperature. Natalie knew she should get up, but the need to stay plastered to him increased instead of dissipating. When he moved to separate, she bit her lips, praying he wouldn’t speak and demand answers. Not yet. Allowing him to ease her away, she backed up and stood watching his head tilt back to look up at her.
The sight of her sleepy eyes forced his decision to stay silent. Wearily, he got up and helped her out of the tub, whipping a towel off the rack. Following suit, Natalie picked up another one and in the comfortable silence they dried one another off, their eyes meeting and saying things they would never speak aloud to one another. Once dried, they made their way back into the bedroom crawling into the welcoming haven of the bed. Hayden’s long body curved around Natalie’s scooping her close, her sigh of contentment warming his smile as he pressed his lips to the curve of her shoulder and settled down to rest.
****
Heavy eyes opened, scowling at the rude intrusion as an insistent beep ricocheted in Hayden’s ear. Turning his head to locate the noise, his eyes fell on his watch. Fumbling with one hand he scooped it up and shut it off then closed his eyes attempting to focus his brain on the conscious world. Next to him, a warm shape shifted, one slender hand sliding over his abdomen. Confused, he lifted his head, wondering where Skylin had come from. His eyes rested on Natalie’s petite form and everything rushed back and swept him away with monumental force. He grimaced, waiting for the guilt to slam into him. When it didn’t he settled back down and curved her closer while he stared at the ceiling and enjoyed the trusting weight of her against him.
But, he had a plane to catch. He’d promised Tove he would come back on the same day and he had to do it. It wasn’t right that he should be glad the body draped over him wasn’t Skylin’s, but the fact that it was Natalie scoured any shame from his conscience. It felt right and he wasn’t sorry one bit. In the recesses of his mind he called himself every low life name he could think of, but it didn’t matter. What he was and what he wanted were all twisted up in this spitfire cuddled against him and all he wanted to do was sleep here the rest of the night and see what tomorrow promised.
But, he reminded himself again, he had a plane to catch. If he didn’t go, his brother would flay him alive and it was the fact that he was family that kept Hayden from dismissing him, too. Careful not to wake Natalie, he reluctantly slid from the bed and scooped up his clothes, smirking as he spied the picture, spilled suitcase and breakfast tray all over the floor. Time prevented him from cleaning it up, but, he told himself, let it serve to remind Natalie at what had happened here.
Quickly, he dressed and emerged from the bathroom quietly, finding his pack and rifling through it for a slip of paper. Finding her cell phone he set it on the desk over the paper like a paperweight where he was sure she would see it. Tiptoeing over to her, he pressed his lips to her cheek, straightened and smiled down at her still form. She was out of it completely, too tired for her brain to wake her. Crossing the hazards strewn across the floor he made his way to the door and let himself out anxious to get to the plane where he could sit and wonder about what had happened today. A chuckle strangled in his throat at the thought of the slip of paper he’d left behind.

The sun had long set by the time Natalie awoke. In the darkness, she rolled over and stretched, her body feeling lax but well rested. Rolling again, she dropped her face into the pillow, her body stilling at the familiar scent. Hayden. She inhaled his scent into herself while it came to her in a rush and her heart pounded in violent response. Four times in twenty-four hours! She’d never known a guy who had that much stamina, let alone satisfy her each and every time! Holy shit! What had she been missing all these years?
A giggle exploded from her and she wrapped her arms around herself and gave the ceiling a goofy grin. Thoughts of his taking her and allowing her to take him, the bathwater sloshing everywhere, the breakfast tray crashing to the floor…
Natalie bolted upright and flicked on the bedside lamp. Scurrying out of bed, she tripped over her spilled suitcase. The evidence was all over the floor, testifying of the reckless hunger that had taken hold of them. What a mess! Hands on hips Natalie scowled.
“Just like a man,” she muttered leaning down to scoop up a piece of broken dish. “High tails it out when there’s a mess to clean up.”
She giggled again and began cleaning up the mess. Finished, she dusted her hands and glanced around the room for any other mishaps. Eyes on the desk, she found her phone and picked it up, noticing the folded slip of paper. Curious, she sat on the edge of her bed and opened it scanning the first few words.
‘Tag…You’re It!’
Natalie collapsed backwards on the bed, a silly grin widening her mouth. So, he hadn’t run off after all! Holding the paper above her, she bit her lip and studied the rest of it, contemplating what it meant. On it was a date, two days from then and a group of numbers.
“Hmm. What are you telling me, Hayden?” She wondered aloud, staring at the numbers.
For fifteen minutes she wavered back and forth between the glee at his message and the meaning of the numbers. When she figured out the possibility, she rolled over to the edge of the bed and grabbed the hotel phone, ringing the front desk.
“Front desk. How may I help you?”
“Yes, this is Ms. Glasure in the Junior Suite,” Natalie announced, eyes peeled to the slip of paper. “I need some help in finding something.”
“Certainly, madam, we’ll do our best. What do you need?”
“I need to know where I can get a Global Positioning System and someone to show me how to use it.”

This abuse control system is run in accordance with the strict guidelines specified above.
