Chapter Two
I have been stuck in traffic for the last hour and finally Mel gets back to about the call I gave her last week.
“No, I don’t have your red dress. Why do you need it back?” Mel asked.
“Yeah I needed last week for a dinner with Vin, but since it’s a little late now you can keep it.”
“Thanks,” she replied as she laughed into the phone, “where are you?”
“I‘m on my way to your house for those sexy, strappy shoes that I know you have.”
“Why is Vin talking you somewhere special?”
“No, not really we’re just having dinner at his place.”
“Then why do you need your shoes back?”
“I just do. I don’t want to talk about it. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”
“Ok. Ok. Ok. I’ll see you when you get here. Bye.”
“Bye.”
As I walked into her apartment, I noticed a very familiar site, clothes on almost everything she owned. There were clothes on clothes, I looked down and saw my very expensive red dress that she said she didn’t have. “I see that you’ve cleaned up since that the last time I was here.”
“Oh very funny, anyway I find my shoes,” yelled Mel from the other room.
“You mean my shoes?”
“Oh come on I’ve had them for so long they might as well be mine,” she said as she walked into the room.
“Fine, you give me the $400 I paid for them and you can have them.”
“Your right they’re your shoes,” she said with a smirk. “Why do you look so pissed off?”
“I don’t look pissed off, I look sexually frustrated.”
“Don’t tell me you and he still haven’t had sex.” All I could do was shake my head. “Come on, you to have been dating for almost five months. What’s taking so long?”
“I don’t know I mean I love the fact that he respects me, but at this point if we don’t move to the next level, i.e., have sex, soon I’m going to lose my fucking mind. I’ve tried everything, but for some reason he still won’t.”
“So now your trying slutty. All I have to say is ‘I love you’ and will you marry me?”
“Stop it. I got to go, I’ll call you later,” I waved bye to her as I walked out the door and back to my car. I had to hurry up traffic was going to be just as bad and I have to be at Vin’s in an hour.
Chapter Three
By the time I got to Vin’s house I was almost an hour late. When I walked in, I could smell the food and could tell that he didn’t cook it. Not that Vin is a bad cook, but with his photo shoot and interview I knew he wouldn’t have had time to cook. As I walk into the kitchen I glance at the trash and see the empty containers laying on top. He’s still getting everything ready for the dinner and all I can think is thank god he’s rarely on time, like me. He turns to grab the lighter, on the counter, to light the candles and sees me. All he does is smile and continue to finish getting everything ready. That’s Vin for you, business before pleasure.
“Oh honey you cooked,” I say jokingly as I point to the trash.
“I meant to take that out before you got here,” he apologizes.
“It’s ok, I knew you didn’t have time today and I really needed the laugh anyway.”
“Why what’s wrong, bad day at work,” he asked still finishing things up.
“No, but it doesn’t matter,” I answer not wanting him to ask any more questions, “what are we having, it smells great?”
It took us an hour to finish dinner, which was incredible. We then moved to the living room and had some cake. That’s something Vin and I had in common, we hated eating dessert at the dining table. We talked about stupid shit, nothing really important, just making polite conversation. I didn’t like to bring up the celebrity thing and I think that he liked that.
With the way things were going, I already knew he was going to do the polite thing. He was going to give me a kiss at the door and that would be the most sexual thing about our night. So finally after about ten minutes of not really talking about anything, I couldn’t take it anymore and finally turned to him, looked him in the eyes, and asked him point-blank why we hadn’t had sex yet. At first he was taken a back, but he soon regained his composure.
“I wanted to give you enough time to get over ex,” he said.
“I got over him a long time ago, otherwise I wouldn’t have started dating you. You know that,” I asked trying not to lose my nerve.
“You’re right I did. I honestly thought that you wanted to wait and I didn’t want to pressure you, I thought that is what you wanted,” he said as he put his plate on the coffee table in front of us.
“Yeah, maybe I did in the beginning, but for the last couple weeks I’ve felt like I was losing my goddamn mind.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t know,” Vin said as he took my finished plate out of my hands and put it next to his plate on the table.
“Well now you do,” I said still trying to look assertive and stand my ground.
“Ok, well now I know.”
But still that night he just gave me a kiss on the lips as I left and told me he’d call tomorrow. In the car on my way home I got a call and half-expected it to be from Vin, but it wasn’t. Mel had called to ask how the night went, but I told her I didn’t want to talk about it and I would call her later.
More to come . . .
