*Ring*
A great dame that slept in the corner of the average size bedroom to the average size apartment sat up and looked straight at his owner who lay asleep in her bed still. The great dame stood from his sleeping spot and walked over to the bed pulling the covers off carefully. His mistress still did not stir. The ringing continued and he was then forced to do something he wasn’t aloud to do in doors.
Cassandra Jacqueline Hawkins awoke to the sound of her dog barking. Rolling over and looking down next to her bed to see her dog looking up at her with pleading eyes. Cassandra looked over at her nightstand to see her phone flashing.
“Sorry Buddy.” Reaching over she grabbed her phone, she flipped it open.
“This is Cassandra Hawkins.” Cassandra answered trying to hide the tiredness evident in her voice. She listened to the voice on the receiving end.
“Yes, I can be there. Yes, thank you!” Closing her flip phone, Cassandra squealed in delight and jumped up on to her bed. “Yes, whoooooooo!” Buddy began to bark along with her excitement.
“I got the job buddy.” She jumped down and hugged buddy and continued to cheer for herself. Suddenly there was a loud tapping from the wall next to her.
“Keep it down Hawkins!” Cassandra stopped and looked down and her dog trying to suppress the laughter.
“Sorry Mrs. Sanderson!” She yelled back through the wall. Cassandra sighed and took a deep breath looking down at her clock she shrieked again.
“9:40 I need to be their in and hour. Shit.” Cassandra said and ran to her closet pulling out a pair of black pinstriped pants, matching over coat and a white blouse before running to her bathroom. Cassandra showed toweled her hair and dressed. Cassandra topped everything off with a pair of black heels. Running out into her small kitchen area she grabbed her keys and purse, quickly fed Buddy said good bye and left. As she walked down the steps from her apartment she checked her watch. “10:10, I’ll be fine.” Disarming her ford mustang she hopped in and soon was driving off toward Hollywood.
Cassandra Hawkins was make-up artist or a make-up specialist as she would say. She had worked on low budget films in the past, some television shows and plays. Now it was time for her to have the job she had dreamed of getting for years. She would be the head make-up artist for the up coming film Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black pearl. Cassandra was so excited that she started to speed and almost bounce in her seat.
She would meet with the executives and the director today. Have lunch with them then come back and meet the stars and discuss what they wanted for their characters.
After a half hour of driving she was there parked and walking into the studio. Walking down through some many hallways she found where she needed to be. Cassandra walked up to the secretary sitting behind a very nice wooden desk.
“Hello, how may I help you?” The secretary said as she looked up from her computer.
“I’m Cassandra Hawkins; I have a meeting with the executives for Pirates of the Caribbean.” The secretary looked down at her notes she kept for the day and nodded.
“Yes, their expecting you, right through those doors.” The secretary pointed to two large doors.
“Thank you.” Cassandra had never been more nervous in her life. She turned the knob on the door and lightly knocked at the same time. Everyone was sitting at the end of the large conference table.
“Cassandra Hawkins I presume.”
“Yes sir.” The man stood and walked over to her.
“No need for formalities Cassandra we are going to be working together on this project for some time.” Cassandra nodded and smiled.
“Oh, forgive me; I’m Jerry Bruckheimer the producer of this film.” He held out his hand and Cassandra shook it kindly. Jerry held her hand firmly and led her to the end of the table where the rest of the men sat.
“This is Gore Verbinski the director of the film.” Cassandra shook his hand and smiled from across the table. “And these three gentlemen are Terry Elliot, Terry Rossio, Jay Wolpert our screenwriters for the film.” Cassandra shook their hands as well and then was lead to a seat.
“I apologize that not all of out production staff is here. We had some meetings early this week.” Cassandra nodded and soon they were all off talking about the production and what was going to happen, how it was going to be run and what they expected of her. They didn’t realize that almost four hours had went by, as they were interrupted by the door opening and five people walked in some that Cassandra recognized and some that she didn’t.
Jerry Looked down at his watch and flipped out.
“I’m so sorry!” He stood and went over to great them before turning back to the group. “We forgot to meet them for lunch, we got carried away. Please take a seat.”
“OH Cassandra this is our cast that you’ll be making up every morning and every touchup in between.” Cassandra smiled as Jerry announced their names.
“Geoffrey Rush, Keira Knightley, Jack Davenport, Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp.” They all nodded and said their hellos. Cassandra smiled back down the table as they sat. Thus began another very long conversation between everyone on their characters what they wanted and what they could do to enhance the character. Cassandra looked down at her watched and noticed that it was nearly nine o clock. Realizing that their talk had turned into socializing mostly, Cassandra interrupted them.
“Sorry for interrupting but, it’s getting late and I need to get home and feed my dog and me.”
“Very well, I hope to see you then next week when we all take our trip down to the Caribbean to start this thing.” Jerry said as he stood with her shaking her hand. “I think we should all pack it up and go it is rather late.” Everyone nodded and soon flooded out of the conference room. Cassandra stopped for a moment to look at her watch and check her phone. Looking around at everyone scattering she soon headed to her car and home.
They whole cast and crew where going to leave in a week’s time. Till then Cassandra had phone calls and arrangements to make. The week would end in no time at all and she had to prepare for the lifestyle change. Walking up the steps that lead to her apartment she listened to her dog bark at the door.
Walking into her apartment, she fed her dog and went to bed. Thinking herself to sleep, she had no idea the experience she was about to have.
