Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. I do not know the members of Green Day. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Disclaimer: They aren’t mine, obviously. I took a little liberty with Joe and Jake’s age. I realize that they are a little older than this, but its my story isn’t it?
And thank you guys for such great reviews. I don’t think I’ve ever had such a positive and immediate response, it makes me want to write more, so here’s the second chapter a lot faster than I thought I’d be posting. Enjoy!

Dave walked them into the room next to them and Rhiannon had to do a double take looking at the guys sitting in plush chairs around the room. Wendy grabbed her hand and squeezed hard, she was probably thinking the same thing. Billie Joe fucking Armstrong was sitting across the room, cocky ass grin in place! Mike and Tre were there too.
“Guys you asked for something new, something fresh and you got it. Allow me to introduce the Brokenhearted Dolls: Rhiannon Donovan, Wendy Lawton and Cassie Carter. Girls, I’m sure you know who they are.”
Billie got up, crossed the room and held his hand out to Rhiannon. “Nice to meet you.” He grinned.
Rhiannon took his hand and shook it. “You too.” She managed to squeak.
Billie just laughed. “Who’s your manager?” he asked.
“Well, I am.” Rhiannon said quietly, biting her lower lip. Billie noticed the action; it was a damn turn on.
“Then you and I are going out to lunch and talking business.” He said very matter-of-a-factly.
“Um, alright.” She said, turning to Wendy and Cassie. “Will you take my stuff home for me? Or better yet, take it to your house. I’ll be over later.”
Wendy nodded and drug Cassie out of the room. She wanted to go too, but realized that the invitation didn’t extend to her just yet.
“Hey!” Mike called out to her. Wendy stuck her head back into the room.
“You and blondie there can go out to lunch with me and Tre.” He offered.
“Sure thing.” She said, moving aside so Billie and Rhiannon could get out.
“We can take my limo.” Billie offered. He took her to a small bistro downtown that seemed to know him. They seated them in a corner table, kind of out of the way.
Rhiannon had barely spoken the entire time.
“Tell me about yourself.” Billie said after they ordered.
“Umm… well, I’m a fairly typical high school senior. Actually, we graduate in a month or so. My big dream is this band, to make it big, but I’ve got the typical back up plan. Go to college be a music teacher. I’m an only child, my dad’s a big executive in some company, my mom died when I was very young I don’t even remember her, except that she used to sing to me.”
Billie smiled. “How’d you meet the rest of the band?”
“Oh Wendy and I have been best friends since we were in kindergarten. We met Cassie when she moved here from New York in middle school. We’ve pretty much been together forever. We loved rock music, especially punk. It took me forever to talk my band director into making a pit for the marching band so Wendy and I could play guitar and bass instead of clarinet. Well,” she said looking down and blushing “I kind of went over his head to the principal with my campaign and got his backing.”
Billie cracked up. “Sounds like something I would do. Well, I know a little about you know, let me tell you about myself. And I know you probably know most of it, Dave told me we’re your favorite band of all time.”
Here Rhiannon blushed.
“Anyway. What no one knows yet, is Adrienne and I are getting a divorce.” He sighed and ran his hand through his already messy black hair.
“But….why?” Rhiannon asked.
“People just change I guess. It’s a mutual decision. I signed the papers three days ago. We’re holding a press conference later today to announce it.”
“What about the boys?” Rhiannon asked, forgetting this was none of her business anyway.
“We’re going to have joint custody. I get them every other week when I’m not on tour.”
“I’m sorry Billie.” Rhiannon said, finally looking him in the eye for the first time. He really did have amazing green eyes. She might have been lost in them, but he was drowning in hers. He didn’t think he had ever seen blue eyes that bright.
“Well, anyway, keep that to yourself for a few more hours. Now, we need to get you a real manager. Once you’re on the road, you won’t have time to deal with singing, playing and managing. I’ll talk to my manager; see if we can get you guys signed for a real contract after this tour is over.”
“Oh my God, Billie that would be awesome!” Rhiannon squealed, getting up and hugging him before she could think better of it. He was taken aback at first but hugged her all the same.
Once lunch was over, Billie asked if she minded if they picked up the boys on the way home.
“Oh. No its fine, I love kids.” She said laughing.
When little Jake and Joe climbed into the limo she almost lost it. They were both adorable as hell.
“Hello.” Joe offered, looking up at her with his daddy’s green eyes.
“Hi there bud.”
“Who’re you?” he asked.
“Her name is Rhiannon, Joe. She works with daddy.”
“Ohhhhh. You make cool music too?” he asked.
“Well, maybe not as cool as your dad’s but I make music.” Rhiannon replied, blushing.
“Hey, Rhiannon, could I ask you a major favor?” Billie asked, looking uncomfortable.
“Anything Billie.”
“Well, could you come to the press conference, stay in back and watch the kids? Apparently Adrienne’s babysitter bailed. Or so she says. I don’t want the kids around the paparazzi.”
“No problem Billie, really. I baby-sit on the side to keep the band going sometimes. Well guys,” she said, turning to the kids. “Looks like you and I are up for a great afternoon.”
“Yay!” Jake yelled, throwing himself into Rhiannon’s lap. She just laughed and out and arm around him make sure he didn’t topple into the floor.
“So how old are you guys?” she asked them. Jake held up four fingers, and grinned.
“I’m six.” Joe announced. “How old are you?”
“Well, I’ll be 19 next weekend.”
“Is that as old as daddy?” Joe asked.
“Oh not quite.” She said with a smile aimed at Billie. He just smiled and observed the little nymph with his kids. She was good with them.
The conference was short. They took about 30 minutes of questions and explained their divorce and Adrienne left. Billie went to find Rhiannon and the kids. When he got back to the room where he had left them he couldn’t help but smile.
Coloring books and crayons littered the table, but what really made him smile was the sight on the couch. Joe was snuggled up next to Rhiannon, and Jake was cuddled to her chest on top of her. He really didn’t want to wake them, they looked adorable.
He took a seat at the table and about fifteen minutes later Jake woke up, squirming. Rhiannon woke up with him.
“I gotta go pee.” He explained.
Rhiannon yawned and stood, careful not to wake Joe up too. “Ok kiddo, lets go find the bathroom…..oh hey Billie.” She said, giving him a sleepy eyed smile.
“I’ll take him if you want me to.”
“Nah, its ok. We’ll be back in a few.”
Billie picked up the mess on the table and Rhiannon was back in short order. They went back to the limo and Billie took her to her house. Leaving a sleeping Joe and Jake in the car, he walked her to her door.
“Rhiannon, will you let me take you out to dinner?” he suddenly burst out breaking the silence as they stared at each other.
“What?” she asked, startled.
“Umm.” Billie thought, trying for the life of him to figure out why he had just asked her that. But ever since he saw her walk into the studio he couldn’t stop thinking about her.
“You mean to talk more business?”
“Well, you could look at it that way.” He said, small grin appearing. “But I was thinking more along the lines of a date.”
“A….a…date? With Billie Joe Armstrong?? Jesus… my friends will never believe this.” She said, a look of wonder on her face.
“Don’t tell them if you don’t want to. I mean, maybe I shouldn’t wave a new date in the paparazzi’s face when I just announced my divorce.” He said, looking thoughtful. “Here, how about this, you come over to my house and I’ll cook you dinner.”
“That sounds nice.” She said, smiling. “Want my cell number?”
He handed her his cell phone and she programmed her number in and handed it back. He smiled, took her hand and kissed it. “Until then.”
Oh lord. She couldn’t help it; she knew she had to have a goofy ass grin on her face. She waved goodbye and walked inside, shutting the door behind her. She leaned on it for a few minutes, then pinched herself.
“Shit.” She muttered, rubbing the sting out of it. Ok so I’m not dreaming. Billie Joe just asked me out on a date….and he kissed my hand. Ohhh I gotta tell Wendy!
She ran upstairs and called Wendy, they talked most of the night, and Wendy agreed to come over and help her pick out something to wear.

OK, there’s the second chapter. I have no idea how long this is going to be, I have no real definite plans for this story, it just sort of writes itself when I have time to sit at the computer. Let me know what you think.
