"I just love multiple band shoots like these." Toshiya said, bouncing across the dressing room, longish blue and black hair dancing around his shoulders. "We really don't get many opportunities to mingle with alot of these guys, and thats a real shame." He flopped down on a stool beside Die. "Know what I mean?"
With a patient sigh, the guitarist readjusted Kyo's old black cowboy hat on the taller man's head. "Silly, Tochi, you act as if you never see any of them outside of work, and we all know that's not true. Of any of us, you pester other musicians the most."
"Yes, but that's different. I... I just miss those times when we got to tour and perform with other bands, like back in our indies days. It's just.. fun!" Toshiya suddenly lept from his stool as if it had suddenly become hot and nearly pounced on their vocalist, who had up until that point been quietly reading in some random japanese magazine one of the roadies had dug up."
Shinya eyed his two bandmates warily as Kyo growled in annoyance, desperatly trying to fend off the far too energetic bassist. "Does anyone else find it odd that we are going to be shooting with so many bands that are, well, their style of music is alot different than ours."
Die shrugged. "I don't know. I think some of them have alot of songs similar in style to our own; Gazette, Alice Nine and a good number of Miyavi's are pretty hard rock. Certainly DespairsRay and the Under Code bands are." He leaned back in his chair, propping one foot up on Toshiya's vacated stool and eyed Kaoru carefully. "You have to admit, Phantasmagoria is pretty good-"
"Doesn't matter." Kaoru said sharply, shaking his head.
Die sighed and shrugged slightly. "Besides, like Tochi said, it's been awhile since we've had such a large photoshoot like this one, with so many other bands."
"Oh!" Toshiya cried, finally relenting and leaving Kyo alone for the time being. "I can't wait to see Zero again! It's been quite awhile..."
Kaoru smiled slightly as he touched up the thick black eyeliner around his eyes. A bright face appeared in the mirror beside his.
"I'm sure you must be looking forward to seeing someone, right Kaoru?"
The guitarist set his eyeliner pencil down on the counter and eyed his friend warily. "Why?"
Tochi grinned. "Come on, I know you like meeting new people!"
Kaoru crossed his arms, eyes narrowing suspiciously. "I havne't seen Hakuei in awhile, so I look forward to spending some time with him. Beyond that, I'm sure I'll be happy meeting any of the other talented musicians at the photoshoot."
Toshiya seemed to digest this a moment, then nodded, bounding off to pester the others.
The photographer for the magazine was American, but thankfully spoke fluent japanese. She and her assistantwere waving their arms about, trying to get the assembled musicians in the places they wanted.
"Kaoru, please sit in the chair. Good- no, Shinya, not there, closer to Zero." The blonde drummer edged towards the bassist, but only slightly. The photographer planted balled fists on her ample hips and sighed. "Shinya-san, please! I promise, he won't bite."
"I wouldn't be too sure of that." Tsukasa murmered loud enough for all of them to hear. Shinya blushed, then squeaked slightly as the eerily beautiful bassist suddenly grabbed ahold of his wrists and spun them around in circles, Zero's long black braids whipping across their faces.
"I promise to be gentle," Zero purred in Shinya's ear, "at first." Shinya blushed a deeper red and Zero grinned, stopping their mad twirling just in the spot the photographers had wanted them.
Miyavi snickered then shifted his weight from one foot to the other, black painted nails idly tapping the glossy surface of the guitar slung acreoss his chest. There were seven of them on the small set; Shinya and Kaoru of Dir en Grey, Tsukasa and Zero of D'espairsRay, Ruki of Gazette, Jun of Phantasmagoria and himself. They'd been working on group shots for quite some time now, and though it is fun at first, now it was getting boring.
With a sigh, he let his eyes wander the room, finally settling on the man the photograpers were now focusing on. Kaoru had been dressed in a sleek, black silk shirt and pants,. bot adorned with various chains and D rings. His eyes, dark and intense, seemed fixed on a point far away, a small frown forming on his face, as if whatever was on his mind was not to his liking. Kaoru turned his head and their eyes met briefly, that feral glint in the other man's eye sending a shiver down Miyavi's spine. Flashing Kaoru a brief smile, Miyavi forced himself to look away.
A few more clicks and the photographer lowered her camera. The collected musicians grinned and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Thank you all for being so patient with me today," the photographer said. "Everyone did wonderfully. Now, the only thing left is a pairing shot we polled for on our website." She pulled out a paper from her back pocket. "The two with the most voes were... Miyavi-kun and Kaoru-kun." She stuffed the paper back into her jeans. "if you two would stay just a few minutes longer, we can get a few poses in and then everyone can be on their way."
The others filed off the stage as men and woman rushed about, replacig the background screen, wisking away the red chair Kaoru had been sitting in, only to emerge a moment later with a large, black leather couch. As the assistant handed something to Kaoru, the photographer stepped toward Miyavi, looking up and down his sleek form intently. Without a word, she took the guitar from him, handing it off to another assistant and began unbuttoning his coat, taking that as well, leaving him with only his white tanktop covering his tattooed torso.
"Thats better." She said and smiled, walking away to presumable retrieve her camera. Miyavi looked around to see Kaoru slipping off his silk shirt and handing it to the assistant. Miyavi watched as the other guitarist slipped first one arm, then the other through the filmy red fabric, bringing the ruffled front of the shirt to button over his smooth chest.
"Miyavi." the photographer said and the guitarist snapped his head around. "Please sit on the couch, near the end." With a nod, he did as he was told, plopping down on the soft leather with a smile. He crossed his legs and propped one arm over the back of the couch as the photographer told Kaoru to set down next to him. The other man complied, leaning forward with his elbows propped up on his knees, chin resting on tented fingers. The cameras flashed several times, then paused.
"Ok guys, you can move around a little. Just act natural."
Both men rolled their eyes, having heard that many times, but tried to do as bid. Kaoru leaned back, his head resting slightly on Miyavi's outstretched arm.
"Nice skirt." he murmered, crossing his legs.
Miyavi grinned and shifted his weight, playfully swishing pleated layers across smooth, bare legs. "Sure, its a bit drafty now and then, but it's really quite comfortable." He wiggled one pierced eyebrow. "Why, do you miss them? Still harbor old longings for your VK days?"
Kaoru chuckled, momentarily forgetting the cameras recording their every move. "Sometimes, maybe, but at least I don't have to worry about shaving my legs anymore." He nudged the other man's pale calf with one booted toe.
Miyavi leaned forward, running a freshly painted nail down the thin, nearly see-through fabric of Kaoru's shirt. "Do you really thinkthis makes you look more manly right now?"
"Well, perhaps not." Kaoru said, shivering slightly, then cleared his throat. "It is a bit chilly in here."
Miyavi chuckled and leaned back, his dancing eyes traveling down the other man's chest. "I can see that."
Kaoru looked down and crossed his arms over his chest, lips pursed, trying desperatly to stop the blush creeping across his cheeks, which made Miyavi only laugh harder.
"This is great, guys," the photographer called. "We have one more shot to do, then we can quite."
Miyavi jumped to his feet and spun to the side, offering his hands to the slightly embarressed man. Kaoru stared up at him a moment. somewhat wary of that mischevious smile, then accepted Miyavi's help out of the deep couch. The photographer moved them away from the furniture, standing close to each other, Miyavi crowded mere inches behind the shorter man. Someone produced one of Kaoru's guitars, strapping it across his chest.
"Miyavi, please hold onto the guitar just below Kaoru's hand."
Kaoru felt Miyavi shift closer, sniffing slightly. "I think I need to sneeze." came a voice just behind his ear.
"You sneeze on my neck," Kaoru murmered softly, "and you'll find this guitar up your nose."
Miyavi snorted but managed to hold it in. After he was sure it was safe to open his mouth, he spoke again. "This is a nice instument. Did you have it custom made?"
"Yes, I did." Kaoru said, fingering the glossy blue surface. "It's a favorite of mine, for a number of reasons."
A few moments later, the photographer set down her camera and thanked them for their time. The two men bowed and hurried away. They hurried down the hall, stopping infront of dressing rooms beside each other.
"Are you going to the party after the concert?" Kaoru asked, pausing with his hand on the doorknob. He could hear his bandmates talking and laughing on the other side.
"More than likely," Miyavi replied, shrugging slightly. "I didn't have anything better planned for New Years."
"Good," the other man said, nodding his head. "Then perhaps I'll see you then."
