"No way. I think we need to prove this shit right now. If this Finish fuck is going to talk shit about Jersey again-" Frank's phone rang and after staring at it for a moment, not recognizing the number, "Hello?"
"Hey." said a quiet and familiar voice.
Frank completely forgot about the argument with Ville and walked away for some privacy, "Hey Gee. What's up?"
"Not much. What are you doing?" he heard the flare of a lighter and Gerard inhale deeply.
"Trying to check into a hotel. We're already in Vegas." he sat down at a slot machine and lit a cigarette.
"Wow, that was fast."
"Yeah. They're all really excited about this." he fiddled with the buttons on the machine in front of him.
"You don't sound that excited."
Frank sighed, "I am." he changed the subject, "We're going to swing by the Grand Canyon on the way home!"
Gerard's laughter trickled out of the phone, making Frank smile as well, "It's a beautiful place. I made Bert take me there so I could see where you 'died.'" he heard Gerard sigh and take a deep hit off of his cigarette, "I don't think I have ever been do pissed off." he laughed without any humor, "After all the shit he's pulled over the years. I haven't been home yet."
Frank said nothing, waiting.
"I don't know if I'm going to go home."
"Anything I have to say on this subject is going to be completely biased," Frank began, "But I say fuck him. You should just leave and go out on your own. He's not that great of a lay."
Gerard laughed again, "You're right about that."
Frank couldn't help but smirk, "Yeah, but that’s just an icky thought." He stood up and wandered to the card tables and sat down again in front of a video poker machine.
"Aww thanks." Gerard laughed.
"Not you, you with him." Frank explained and quickly shut his mouth, glad Gerard couldn’t see him blush.
"Frankie-"
"Forget it Gee." Frank shook his head and lit another cigarette, "What have you been doing with yourself lately?"
He heard Gerard sigh, but the other man went with the subject change, "Well now this is what we do. We send people to the first stop-" Gerard gasped, "Shit."
"What do you mean ‘first stop?’" Frank asked slowly, standing.
"Nothing. Really." Gerard waited through Frank’s long pause, "Look, I can’t tell you. We’d get in so much trouble. Forget I said it."
"Fine." Frank said, eaten alive with curiosity, "I won’t ask." He stayed silent for a minute, wondering if it would still work, after all these years.
"Frankie!" Gerard whined, "I can’t tell you!"
"I know." Frank said simply and looked up, realizing he was pretty far into the casino. He turned around to go back to the lobby.
"I can’t! Seriously, Amanda would kill me!"
"You seem to be on pretty friendly terms with this chick." Frank said with a smirk.
"She’s lonely." Gerard said softly, "We have some things in common."
"Gee, I-" he arrived back at the lobby and looked toward the front desk to see if they’d gotten the rooms yet, "Hey!"
"What?"
"They fucking left me!" Frank jumped up and ran to the desk, "Hey!" he tapped on the surface to get the girl's attention, "Hey, did you see where my friends went?"
"Yeah. They decided not to stay with us." she sniffed. It looked like she'd been crying. Roxy's handiwork, Frank was sure.
"Fuck!" he put the phone back to his ear, "Gee, can I talk to you later? Apparently we're not staying at the Belagio anymore and nobody thought to tell me."
"That sucks. I'll call back." Gerard said, "Bye."
Frank snapped his phone shut and stuffed it back in his pocket, "Fuck!" he pulled it back out and dialed Roxy's number, getting no answer.
How could they just leave him? That wasn't fair. He pouted and went to the elevator, riding it to the roof level of the garage.
The car was gone.
Frank's phone beeped, indicating a message and he checked his voicemail.
"Frankie? Where the fuck did you go? Well after the hotel decided not to give us our rooms and Roxy made the girl behind the desk cry, we left to go to the MGM. We looked for you, but you know. Leaving a key at the desk for you whenever you decide to show up." Ville's voice came over the line. He was speaking rapidly and he heard his other friends in the background laughing, "We're going to find Benny as soon as you show up." there was a pause, "I still say you're a fucking lightweight."
Frank looked at his phone, vaguely offended and sighed, starting the walk over to the MGM.
Suddenly the neon and booze wasn’t as important as he thought about what Gerard had said. First stop? There would be others? How many? What the fuck did it mean?
The MGM loomed above him quickly. If you ever wanted to get anywhere quickly in Vegas, walking was probably your best bet. Frank grinned up at the lions in front and walk up to the desk, coughing politely for the clerk’s attention, "Hi. Do you have a key for Frank Iero?" he asked with a cute smile.
The lady behind the desk blushed and smiled back, searching through the messages, "Nope." She shook her head, "Sorry."
Frank frowned, the scowled, "How about Gerold Kim?"
She smiled at him prettily, "Here you go."
Frank gave her a strained smile and took the envelope, "Funny." He muttered.
