Chapter Two- Raw
Jasmine frowned, detesting her orders already. She hated the man and yet she had no other choice. The vampire kept going on through the night, blending in easily in the shadows. She wore a hoodie to protect her from the wind and to hide her golden hair from view. She remembered when she once had power as a rogue on her own but now she was reduced to trying to find some silly girl for her sire. And besides that she didn’t know where Gerard was, who had been sent out weeks ago on the same mission.
The Master had had strict orders to find the girl and bring her to him alive. He had said nothing else but by any means necessary and to kill whoever got in the way. She grunted just thinking about it. Already the kid was a pain in the ass and she hadn’t even met her yet.
She wandered onwards but stopped quickly when she heard something nearby. She bared her teeth and flexed her hands, eyes narrowed into the close darkness. “I know you’re here,” she growled, as she looked from every part of the countryside surrounding her. “If you wish to live, you’ll present yourself.”
“And why would I be afraid of you?”
Jasmine knew the voice at once and the face that seemed to emerge from the night itself. Her hand was fast to her gun, glad for the silver bullets in the cartridge. “Morana, you were always one for dramatics. And who might this be? Oh, yes, Mr. Bryar. It figures you’d have survived and she’d do all the work.”
“Shut up, Jasmine. He’s been through hell and back because of you.” And to think they had once been friends, unlikely ones at that. Until both set their eyes on the former leader of the pack, Bob Bryar. They had fought, cursed, cut each other down but Morana had won out in the end. And when she had won his love, Jasmine destroyed him and Bob had ended up in wolf form, discovered by the humans and kept in a wolf pen for months.
“You just don’t know how to take a joke, do you?”
“And you don’t know how to take a hint.’ Bob said, his gloved hand now in Morana’s bony one.
“What I did to you was nothing compared to what I’m caught in now. The Master will stop at nothing and now you are stopping me from my mission. And I don’t mind killing you.” Jasmine’s gun was out in the open, aimed clearly at Morana’s chest. She didn’t want to use her strength against them unless she had to.
“Oh, you’re scaring me already,” Morana drolled, husky voice dripping in sarcasm. “Are you sure you even know how to use that?”
“Wanna bet?” Jasmine snarled, firing without even thinking as the back fire pushed her backwards. “Burn in hell, bitch.”

“Wow. I never would have thought you the cottage type, Mikey,” Aurora said, glad from the warmth away from the bitter cold.
“Don’t worry. No one hardly knows this old place.” He was already making room and turned on the fire place with a smile. “I haven’t been here for months. It’s nice to have something that never changes.”
Aurora was standing by the fire, warming her hands when her entire body jolted and her eyes went completely white. Mikey went running, grabbing for her as she screamed falling backwards. He caught her and had no idea what was going on. But it was as if she wasn’t even there and she was seeing something else completely. In fact, she was.
Ava was against the wall, rasping for air. She was somewhere Aurora had never seen before and the strange creature who was standing far too close to her. He was shouting something he couldn’t understand.
“I said I don’t know! Please, I just want to go home I don’t even know her. I swear.”
The strange man was laughing again, his dark eyes dangerously close to Ava. His wild, black hair was in his pale face as he stood over the shaking wood nymph. Then suddenly he backhanded her harshly across the jaw.
“Don’t lie to me, you foolish creature. I can smell a lie a mile away. You were with her when she disappeared. Tell the truth or you
‘ll never see the woods again.” He snarled before hitting her again in annoyance.
“All right, I’ll tell you! Just please don’t hurt her.”
He was grinning. “Now, I can’t promise that and you know that. Where is she?”
Aurora was gasping, her eyes their regular color again. She looked around in shock as Mikey stared in confusion. He had carried her to the couch by the fire and had watched in horror. But now she was back, trying to tell him what had happened.
“Are you… all right? What happened?” he asked, trying to make sense of it all.
“They’re coming,” she whispered hoarsely, unsure if she had seen the past or the future. But she’d rather be safe than sorry.
Mikey frowned. That wasn’t exactly the answer he would have liked. But just in case he threw off his jacket, revealing broad white wings that seemed to explode from his back. “And you’re hiding but not without this.” He tossed her a Firestar 9mm and she managed to catch it, staring at in astonishment. “Get in the back room, under the bed if you have to. And shoot no matter what happens. It may not kill them but it will give you a chance to run if anything happens to me.”
“But I don’t want anything to-“
“Go NOW!” He shouted, the window breaking behind him. Aurora yelped but did as she was told. “YOU!”
A familiar vampire was face to face with him, grinning. He knew these were other creatures swarming in the place. But he was face to face with his half brother now, a vampire he had managed to avoid for years. And yet here he was after his responsibility.
“We had searched the little nymph’s suggestion, Michael. Nothing there. But then I remembered this old place and how much you loved the old home. And I thought no he wouldn’t be that easy, now would it? Oh, yes, you thought I wouldn’t know you were taking care of the brat. Word gets around.” Gerard’s eyes flashed as his grin remained. Mikey glared and suddenly realized. Ella? No, she couldn’t have.
“It’s Mikey. You will not touch her.” Mikey said, gripping the knife he had in his belt. Silver. It was all he needed.
“First I’ll be taking care of you and then she’ll be found here. They’re looking for her even now in this old dump. And The Master will gladly do as he pleases. Maybe he’ll kill her himself, use her, I don’t care. But I guess it won’t matter to you by then anyway seeing as you’ll be dead.”
“You first,” Mikey glared, grabbing his knife and charging into his half brother’s chest. He hurled him backwards but Gerard managed to gain his footing and soared into Mikey, grabbing for his throat.
Mikey shot upwards and kicked him in the chest spinning away. His knife was gripped firmly in his fist, slashing into Gerard and managed to draw some kind of blood. Gerard shouted and hit him in the eye before pushing him back.
“Don’t touch her, you bastard.” Mikey growled before trying to get to the back of the room where he knew Aurora was.
A familiar scream pierced his ears as Gerard began to laugh once more. “As usual, you’re too late. All too easy.”
Mikey pushed away. He didn’t have time for his half brother’s little distraction. He had expected the vampires to attack him first as he was her protector. And he had fallen for it. Gerard, however, grabbed his wings and tried to pull him back into the wall.
Mikey wrenched free, running for Aurora as fast as he could. Gerard was still laughing, that horrible sound echoing in the house. Mikey heard a scream again as his half brother still chased after him.
Aurora was shooting as best as he could, shouting as she knew she kept missing. She had been pulled out from under the bed and was in a corner near the window. Bu they just kept coming. She had tried flying but they were too fast for her. She made for the door but she was grabbed in the process by someone she remembered seeing in a vision before.
“You. I’ve seen you before.” Aurora whispered as her arms were pinned behind her and he shook the gun from her hand. “Mr. Toro.”
“Saw my death, did you? Something useful?” He asked in as spiteful tone. He was in no mood for introductions. “That’s enough then.” He pushed her again and moved onwards as she quickly tied her hands together.
“He’s still alive,” Aurora smiled, thinking of Mikey who stormed in as if on cue. “And you don’t stand a chance.”
Ray said nothing, only grunted and threw her over his shoulder. He raised an eyebrow, otherwise completely ignoring Mikey and turned away.
“Let her go.” He boomed as Gerard slyly came up behind him, still taunting with his familiar smirk.
“Sorry, not in my job description,” Ray muttered with an unpleasant look on his face as he tried to avoid getting kicked in the face.
“Neither is it in mine.” Gerard said as he simply grabbed his half brother from behind, sinking his teeth into Mikey’s neck.
“I suppose I’ll be seeing you later,” Ray rolled his eyes and turned around while adjusting Aurora again who shouted as she elbowed him hard in the back. “ I do not get paid enough for this.”
“No! Leave him alone!” Aurora watched in horror as Gerard staked him in the back, wrenching it out just as harshly. She didn’t hear what Gerard said but knew he whispered something in MiKey’s ear.
“Take her to the Master.” Gerard hissed where she could hear again. “Do not kill her even if you want to, Toro. Get away as quickly as you can. And stop that pathetic crying, girl, or you will lose your tongue.’ He said, his eyes wild with animal kind of fury.
Trust me, fairy. He will not die by my hand. And neither will you. Aurora gasped when she recognized the voice that echoed in her head. Just trust me. I never wanted this curse.
For a moment Ray turned around, the creatures already outside the cottage. Glass shattered as she watched the windows break around them and the fiends howled in the night. “What should I Tell the master?”
“I’ll be right behind you.” Was all he said as Mikey shakily got on his feet again, his face drained of color and his neck and side bleeding fast. “Tell him I’m taking care of an old friend.”
