When Evadne woke, it was a little past noon. She sighed and rolled over. She could hear the guys in the back of the bus laughing about something. She heard loud music. They were probably playing video games. She got up from her bunk, messy-haired, and walked to the back of the bus. Rain was pouring outside. Mike looked up and saw her walk in. She had quite a bruise on her forehead under the band-aid. He smiled at her.
“Hey, sleeping beauty,” he grinned. She huffed and sat down on the couch beside Phoenix, curling her legs underneath her. He watched her for a few moments and then picked up the guitar for Guitar Hero again and started to play. He was battling Brad. Of course, Brad was whooping his ass. Evadne sighed and leaned her head back on the couch.
“Are you hungry?” Phoenix asked, “We saved you some pizza.” She sighed and got up from the couch to go into the front of the bus. They all watched her go. Phoenix turned to Rob and Mike.
“Damn, you guys,” he said, “You didn’t say that her head was going to look like that.” Rob shrugged. Mike looked at him.
“I told you she hit it pretty damn hard,” he muttered, hitting the last few notes of the song. He sighed. Her head did look pretty horrible. How was she supposed to be on stage like that? Luckily they didn’t have a show that night. Evadne walked back in, sporting a piece of pizza on a paper plate. She ate it cold. She looked quite ill. Mike felt bad for her. He sighed and stood up to talk to Mark.
“Hey,” he muttered, sitting down at the table in the front of the bus beside him. Mark looked up from something he was writing.
“Hey there,” he grinned. Mike smiled.
“Listen,” he murmured, “I think it would do Eva some good to sleep in a nice bed tonight. We’re really close to L.A. Why don’t we just drive back and stay tonight?” Mark looked at him.
“What happened to her head?” he asked. Mike sighed.
“She had another seizure,” he told him, “I think she just needs a good nights sleep.” Mark nodded.
“Okay,” he said, “I’ll have Ron take us back to LA.” He stood up. Mike sighed and stretched, and then went back to the back of the bus to tell the others the news. Everyone was happy to hear the news…everyone except Evadne. Her tired eyes were suddenly wide.
“C-can’t we just keep going to the next city?” she asked. Color rushed from her face. Mike looked at her oddly.
“L.A. IS our next city, Eva,” he said. She hugged her knees a little.
“B-but can’t we just wait?” she asked. Mike sighed.
“No,” he said, “Because I think you need a warm bed to sleep in.” She sighed and looked at the others. They seemed to be watching her with concern. She didn’t want to worry anyone, so she just nodded, succumbing to the idea. She couldn’t go back, not to him…

Mike flew into Anna’s arms when the bus stopped in front of the studio. He kissed her, smiling. Evadne came off the bus into the bright sunshine. The other men kissed their wives. Except Rob who walked up behind Evadne.
“Come on,” he muttered, “I’ll give you a ride home.” She would have given anything to have waited. She would have given all of her money…her career…anything. But, she didn’t want anyone to know. So, she climbed into Rob’s car with her bag, and let him drive her to her apartment. It was dead there. No one had been in it since she’d left for tour 3 months before. Or at least that’s what she thought…
She smiled and waved goodbye to Rob, and then walked upstairs to her apartment. She unlocked the door, walked inside, and looked around. Everything seemed to be fine. She dropped her keys into the candy dish by the couch. She was okay. She was going to be fine.
A set of arms snaked their way around her waist. She took in a deep and shuttering breath.
“Hey baby,” he muttered into her ear. She held back tears of horror.
“E-Ethan,” she choked out. He sighed.
“Awh,” he sighed, “Aren’t you happy to see me?” She moaned in a terrified way. Ethan, as the man was named, turned her around.
“Aren’t you?” he said, quite angrily. She nodded.
“Y-yes, I am,” she stuttered. He chuckled.
“Then give me a kiss,” he bellowed, and jerked her by her arm into him. He planted a heavy and sloppy kiss on her face. She whimpered, and pulled away. He glared at her, his eyes finding their way to her forehead.
“What the Hell did you do?” he asked. She sighed, looking away from him.
“I f-fell,” she muttered. He nodded.
“You always were a little accident prone bitch, weren’t you?” he asked. She looked at him, tears in her eyes.
“Please, don’t Ethan,” she begged. He looked at her.
“Don’t what?” he asked, “I can’t come over and see my girl?” He walked toward her.
“Ethan, please,” she muttered. He sighed.
“You always were a little whiney bitch,” he chuckled. She sighed, and suddenly caught a hand to the side of the face. It spun her around, and she fell to the floor. She held her face, crying. “That’s what you fucking get!” he bellowed. Evadne’s phone vibrated from the coffee table. Ethan grabbed it.
“Mike, eh?” he muttered, reading the caller ID, “Who in the Hell is Mike?! You fucking cheating on me?” he screamed, slapping her again.
“No!” Evadne cried, sobbing. Ethan flipped open the phone.
“Eva—“ Mike started, but was cut off by Ethan.
“I don’t know who the fuck you are, but you leave my girl alone!” Ethan growled angrily.
“Ethan, no!” Evadne sobbed.
“What?” Mike stuttered.
“Stay the fuck away from her!” Ethan bellowed. Evadne let out a shrill shriek as Ethan’s foot made contact with her side. Mike hung up the phone. Ethan laughed maliciously.

Mike closed his cell phone and looked at Anna.
“I think there’s something wrong,” he muttered. Anna looked at him, putting the phone down from ordering a pizza. He had been calling Evadne to invite her over for dinner. He knew she didn’t have family in the L.A. area.
“What?” Anna asked. Mike threw on his coat.
“Some guy answered the phone,” he muttered, “She was screaming in the background.” Anna’s eyes got wide.
“I have to go see,” he said. Anna grabbed his arm.
“Just call the police!” she cried. Mike looked at her.
“The police never fucking do anything,” he said and walked out the door.

Ethan threw Evadne into the bedroom.
“Get your fucking clothes off!” he screamed. She whimpered.
“N-no,” she stammered. Ethan kicked her.
“Fucking do it!” he bellowed. She cried out in pain. She couldn’t handle being hurt anymore. She started to strip off her shirt. Ethan growled.
“You’re so damned slow,” he barked, and jerked her to her feet. He ripped her clothes from her, kissing her roughly. She cried hard. He grabbed her by the hair and threw her into the bathroom. Once she was inside, he put her in the shower and turned the water on her.
“I need a shower anyway,” he muttered and tore off his shirt. The door bell rang. He groaned.
“Who the Hell is that?” he snapped. “Stay there!” he screamed at Evadne, “Don’t you fucking move!” He slapped her again. Evadne fought him.
“HEL—“ she was cut off by a hand slamming over her mouth.
~*~
Mike stood outside the apartment door, waiting for someone to answer. He heard shouting from inside. He heard Evadne cry out. What the Hell was going on in there? He heard her scream. Something was wrong.
He didn’t even bother ringing the bell again. He lifted his left foot and shoved it forward, making contact with the wooden door. It didn’t bust down at first. The door frame was only knocked loose. He lifted his left again, and his foot contacted the door, this time throwing it to the floor. He looked around the apartment. He heard Evadne crying in the bathroom. He walked toward the room, and caught site of her, full fledged, sitting naked in the corner of the cold shower, blood pouring from her nose and lip. He ran to her.
“Eva!” he cried, “What the Hell happened?” He reached out to touch her.
“N-no,” she muttered. Mike looked at her.
“I’m not going to hurt you,” he said. She gasped.
“NO!” she cried, looking behind Mike. He ducked out of the way just in time. Ethan swung a chair at him. Mike fell to the floor and tripped him. The chair clattered to the ground. Mike looked at Ethan. He was a pretty small guy. What the Hell was his problem? Ethan stood back up. Mike scrambled to his feet and punched him across the cheek. Ethan groaned and hit Mike in the chin. Mike fell to the floor. Ethan looked around, suddenly hearing police sirens. He bolted from the apartment. Mike lay on the floor for a moment, and then looked up at Evadne. She buried her face in her knees, and started to sob. Mike got up from the broken floor. She was bleeding from her lip, nose, ear, and arm. He sighed, squatting down next to her.
“This is what’s wrong with your head, isn’t it?” he asked quietly. She took a deep breath and looked at him.
“Please don’t tell anyone,” she begged him tearfully. He sighed and took off his button-down over shirt, turning off the shower, and wrapping her in it. God dammit, she was so helpless. Why the fuck would that scum do something like this? He looked at her clothes that had been torn to shreds in her room. He sighed and grabbed what looked like sweats for her. He turned around so she could put them on.
“Come on,” he muttered, “You’re coming with me.”
