A/N: Okay so here's the next chapter in the sequel, but I still don't have the next one finished (and I don't know when it will be finished either). So try not to get your hopes up too high. :( I'll try to finish up and keep working as much as I can - but like I've said - school is a killer. But hope you still love me enough to keep reading ... *hugs* Enjoy!

Patrick and Becca made it to the hospital in near record time and both hurried into the ER waiting room then were directed to the maternity waiting area. Once there, they saw Alex and Ryland sitting together while Gabe paced back and forth looking the most distraught Becca had ever seen him. She walked over and lightly laid a hand on his arm, frowning as he jumped as if he had been shot.
“Hey Gabey. How’s she doing?” Becca finally released Patrick’s hand and wrapped an arm around Gabe’s waist for comfort.
“Oh, hey, Beccadill. The doctors have been trying to stall the labor, but they think that the twins are coming anyways. It looks like they’re inheriting April’s insane stubbornness.”
Becca laughed, glad that he still had a little of his humor. “So are they keeping everyone out, or can I pop back there and see her?”
“Go ahead. She’s in room four.” Gabe motioned off in the direction of the rooms before turning back to Patrick. “If you think performing in front of packed audiences is nerve wracking, just wait until you have kids.”
It was fortunate for both Patrick and Becca that Gabe was too distracted by his own worries, because at his last comment both Patrick and Becca blushed furiously. It wasn’t as if they were embarrassed by the conversation, just that they were still a little new to the more intimate sides of their relationship.
Becca turned back to Patrick for a moment, lightly giving his hand a squeeze before heading off towards the direction that Gabe had pointed. She found room four not by the numbering system or such, but by the irritated shouts from April.
“Hey, April. How are the babies?” Becca smiled as she walked in after knocking lightly on the doorframe. She smiled to the doctor who seemed to be upset with whatever he was looking at on the files. She tried not to be worried about the frown creasing the doctor’s forehead, but there was a sneaking suspicion that there was something much more serious going on than she had originally thought. The doctor quickly closed the files and walked out of the room, no doubt wanting to also get away from April, who wasn’t exactly the kindest of patients.
April’s scowl was indicator enough as to how she was doing. Becca had worked with April enough to know that particular expression. Although given that it was now applied to the impending birth of the twins, Becca wasn’t amused by it, as she generally was.
“I swear, I’m going to kill Gabe if he ever thinks that having kids might be fun again. Easy for the men to say that. They’re not the ones who have to carry the little people. And two at once, that’s torture.” April’s expression tightened again as another contraction hit.
As soon as she could breathe, April was looking around the room with a furious look on her face. “SOPHIA! Where’s my doctor?! These babies are coming regardless of your damned medicines!” April paused for a second before yelling again. “GABRIEL! Get your sorry ass in here!”
Becca couldn’t help but laugh as April seemed to rail out at Gabe. Although for Gabe’s sake, she put a reassuring hand on April’s shoulder. “I wouldn’t completely rake Gabe over the coals. He’s pretty tore up over this. I think Patrick might have his hands full with just keeping Gabe from falling apart himself.”
Luckily for everyone, Sophie seemed to have heard the screams of April (which wasn’t doubtful) and appeared in the doorway wearing a pair of generic scrubs, her hair pulled back in a messy bun. She looked more haggard than Becca had ever seen her, and yet, she seemed to be exactly in her element. Sophie gave Becca a smile before moving to check April, playfully clicking her tongue.
“Honestly, April. I could have heard you all the way down the street the way you’ve been screaming. You’re going to be fine. And it seems that we’re going to have a pair of Christmas babies on our hands. I’ll just get an orderly in here to take you out to the delivery room. And I’ll page your husband back.” Sophie grinned as she walked back out of the room after sending Becca a look.
“I’m going to see if anyone in the waiting room needs anything, okay? I’ll be right back. Besides, I’m sure that Sophie wouldn’t start the delivery without another person to keep you from killing all the doctors.” Becca laughed as she followed Sophie out of the room.
They walked up the hallway for a moment before Sophie stopped and turned back to Becca, now that they were out of earshot of April. “I’m not going to lie, and I’m sure that you’ve already heard that there seem to be some complications with the twins. It’s nothing serious, but we’re going to have to take the twins now. We were hoping to give them at least another week before having to deliver them, but that’s not going to work. The medicines that April keeps yelling about weren’t to stall the labor, but to induce it. Well, help it along, rather. She was already starting the labor pains when she came here.”
Sophie wiped a hand over her face and stifled a yawn before smiling. “So my first unassisted delivery is one of my friends. And I have Ivy on the books for hers too. So please, keep from getting pregnant too soon, okay? I might like a break from worrying over my friends being pregnant and my patients. If I could just make sure that Cat wouldn’t end up knocked up in my office for a while, it would be great.”
Becca laughed before turning to the waiting room. “I really should go see if anyone needs anything in the lobby. At least make sure that Gabe gets back there before April decides it would be better to just kill him when she is able to move again. I’ll be back to the delivery room in no time. Besides, I don’t want to face April’s wrath any more than anyone else would.”
Sophie laughed and nodded before there was a page for her to head back to the delivery room. “Now to go deal with a highly irate pregnant woman. Tell Patrick I said hi and thanks for keeping Gabe from jumping out into traffic.” Sophie laughed before heading back towards the delivery room, no doubt to get ready for the arrival of April and Gabe’s twins.
