By the time I got back to my Hotel my head was buzzing with the awful noise of every bad singer that had stood in front of me. There were a few good ones ,Carrie being the main one. As the day ended everyone involved with the show had agreed that Carrie had been their best find, I had made a point of not commenting at all. Which Simon found very funny.
'Ash?.......' The moment I opened my hotel door the sound of Ashley singing met me. 'What are you doing?..........'
'Practising for my Audition tomorrow.........'I rolled my eyes at my best friends attempts at humour, of all her talents singing wasn't one of them.
'Don't please........' I threw myself onto the unmade bed.
'That bad?.........'
'I swear Ash.. I've heard better noises coming from delivery rooms............'
'Any good ones?.........' I tried my hardest not to smile but she saw right through that. 'Really?......' she was on the bed beside me bouncing like a little kid at Christmas. 'I'm guessing a girl?........'
'Ashley I'm a judge.........'
'So what's her name?.......she cute........' Ashley was gushing now.
'Again Ash im a judge........and yes she's cute..........' I covered my ears before the shriek escaped my best friends mouth.
'I love when you meet new girls.........so what's her name?.........'
'Carrie.......'
'And I'm guessing she's cute and blond........'My face must have held my confusing as Ashley let out a small giggled. 'It's your type........blond and cute........'
'Am I that see through?.......'
'Like an open book........' I really hated how well Ashley knew me. The small smirk she was now wearing only proved how right she was.
'Well it's pointless even discussing it..........Mr Cowell made it clear that in no way was I to try anything with any of the contestants, no matter how hot they are.........'
'Oh..hot.......i thought she was cute.........' I really had to install a filter before it was to late and the world knew every detail of my life.
'Hot, cute......it's all the same........' Ashley was now sitting up shaking her head even before I had finished talking.
'Nope.......cute means you want to hold hands and talk about all your favourite things........hot means you want to take her on this bed and..............'
'Yea ok ok........'I really didn't want her finishing that sentence or I would never be able to have a girl in my bed again. 'It's pointless........'I repeated hoping it would not only convince Ashley but I would start believing it too.
I knew I was in trouble the moment she walked into that audition room, but I could control it. I had had lots of crushes on straight girls and I knew at the first look that Carrie was straight. She was to much of a country girl, I had been like that myself until I had won Idol. I soon realised what the world had to offer and ditched my attempts at trying to live up to what others wanted from me. The idea of Carrie doing that didn't sit well, not that I knew anything about her. She could have a boyfriend or she could be the biggest player around, I had no idea what she was like but the image I was painting in my mind was a great one. It was one that kept me awake for hours, just putting together little details of the perfect Carrie I could come up with.
