Nikki’s POV
I hated hotel rooms more than anything, the beds were always lumpy and uncomfortable, and everything smelled too clean. Not that I like things to smell dirty, but I really don’t like the nagging thought that hotel rooms smelled almost like hospital rooms. Somehow I’d managed to get comfortable enough to fall asleep last night after we’d landed in the city. I’m like my father though, when tired enough I can sleep anywhere and on anything. I passed out on top of a shipping crate when we went overseas to meet and greet the soldiers last year, which was a miracle in itself. Then again, I had my dad cuddled up behind me on said box, so it wasn’t completely uncomfortable.
For the moment, my body and brain knew it was still morning and I was in a blissful state of dreamland. Don’t mention beauty sleep, I was not one who needed such a thing unless I’d pulled three days straight at work. I’ve done this before, at WrestleMania last year, three days and no sleep makes me look like the walking dead. No I don’t mean the cute vampire girls, I mean the ugly zombie walking around was me. Anyway, I was having the best dream ever, never hearing my best friend and almost sister, Leyna Nash, get up and leave the room. Did I mention I could sleep through anything at all?
Talk about your yummy dreams though, I was shoulder deep in an amazing dream about Mr. Jeff Hardy. I know I’m high class and all, but seriously, a woman would have to be blind not to notice his sex appeal. He was tall, slender, longhaired, crazy as hell, but let me tell you, Jeff Hardy was completely hot. Last year I’d had a bit of a fling with him and it ended about a month after it started, I was too young for him apparently. That’s ok though, I was Jasmine Nicole Levesque, the Million Dollar Princess and there were more fish in the sea for me. Of course, that didn’t mean that I couldn’t keep dreaming about him though.
Not even ten minutes after Leyna had left the room, the door opened again, I heard it, but wasn’t in the mood to reawaken. “One day you’re going to suffocate under all those blankets while you’re sleeping, sweetheart.” Came the soft voice of my father from across the room at the door. He closed the door and walked over, literally falling on the bed beside me, it was a wonder he hadn’t landed on me. “Ok, I’m awake now, you almost fell on me…” I whined to him as I shifted under the blankets a bit. He laughed and peeled the blankets back until my face was visible to him. “Sleeping beauty awake at last, what a lucky man I am.” Was his reply and I couldn’t help but smile sleepily up at him.
My dad is seriously the best dad ever, he is WWE superstar, Triple H, and I was his one and only little princess. “Why aren’t you sleeping, Daddy?” I asked as a yawn came from me, stretching a bit and then snuggling against his chest for comfort. “I was having some interesting dreams, couldn’t sleep anymore.” He said, point blank, and I knew what he was talking about, I wasn’t stupid and he didn’t hide things from me. At this point in my life, I rarely blush anymore, about anything; I’ve seen and heard nearly everything there is.
“And you come to wake me up, how thoughtful of you.” I groaned as I jerked the blankets out of his hand. He laughed and caught them before I pulled them back over my head again. “Go back to sleep, I just wanted to check on you and tell you that I love you, baby girl.” His voice was soft and I couldn’t be the least bit upset about being woken up at such a horrible hour for me. Leaning up, I wrapped my arms around him in a hug, snuggling into his warmth with a soft sigh. I was tiny, and short, standing only five foot five inches tall, my dad was over six feet tall, and two hundred pounds plus.
Trust me, if you want comfort and safety, my dad is the man to go to for that, I always feel like a little girl in his arms again. He hugged me tight, but it was a gentle hug that never hurt me, he was always careful about that. Tipping his head, he kissed my cheek and then laid me back down, a softness in his eyes that was only used on me. I smiled up at him and shifted until I was comfortable, closing my eyes to go back to sleep. Standing up from the bed, he leaned over and tucked the blankets around me like I’d had them. Before covering my head up again, he dropped a light kiss on my forehead, “I love you, baby girl. Sleep sweet, Sleeping Beauty.”
I smiled as he said that and covered me back up completely, I felt safe and warm even though he’d let go of me. I heard him open the door and walk out, then close it back behind him, silence filling the room once again. It didn’t take long before I was back in the land of the sleeping, though it was a lighter sleep than I’d been in before. You have to understand about my dad and me to really get the entire picture about why we’re so close. He was twenty when I came along, so he was a kid raising a kid, my mom left us when I was five and he had no one. Joanie, otherwise known as Chyna, had stepped in and became like a second mother to me.
When we were on the road, she was the one who helped Dad take care of me and I grew attached to her quickly. Their breakup had left me devastated to the point of tears, I’d loved her like family and it was over again. That’s when my Dad got the lovely idea to marry Stephanie McMahon, and boy did I hate that woman. She had been a complete bitch, and I let Dad know right off that I didn’t like her one bit. We fought all the time and I’ve also got a history for punching her in the face more than once. Lets just say, their marriage didn’t last long after I dropped the bombshell that I was leaving the house until the bitch was gone.
Yeah I know, call me selfish if you want, but that woman was not worth the time my Dad took to speak to her. Vince and Linda McMahon are great, I love them to death and they are still my grandparents to this day. Uncle Shane is a blast too, he always sends me stuff from all over the place and we get together whenever we can. But the bitch, I never liked her and never will, I was happy to see her leave after the divorce. Dad was a little upset with me for halfway running her off, but he saw the light and realized she wasn’t the one for our family. Personally, I’d rather have Joanie back as my mom, but that won’t happen again.
Sometime later, I heard the door to the room open again and I groaned a bit and shifted, knowing it was Ley from the footsteps. “What time is it…?” I mumbled softly, getting a quick answer before she retreated into the bathroom. A second later, I heard the shower come on and I realized something was up with her today. Sighing a bit, I uncovered myself and looked over at the clock to see what time it was. It was after nine, not quite ten, but still early enough for me to not really want to be up and about. Sitting up, I stretched and then propped myself up against the wall, waiting for Ley to finish her shower and come back out here.
I knew that I really needed to get a life, outside of being on the road all the time and wrestling, I needed a real life. Yawning a bit, I at least got up to put some shorts on over my underwear; Ley had been known to smack me for not having them on. Running my fingers through my hair, I frowned at the open curtains. We always had a problem trying to remember to close the curtains before bed at night. Florida sunshine was not something you wanted in your face as a wake up call, I felt sorry for Ley because of that this morning.
A few minutes later, she came back into the room and looked at me, her eyes widening a bit, “Miracles do happen, you’re up before noon.” I laughed sarcastically and then flipped her off, making her laugh at me. There was a look on her face that didn’t sit right, and I had to wonder about that, “What’s wrong with you?” She looked almost cornered, but made a fast recovery, “Nothing Nikkikins, really, just tired is all.” Yeah right, like I believed that answer for half a second of my life, not. I knew something was on her mind and she was trying to keep me from figuring out what it was.
We told each other everything no matter what it was, and to have Ley keeping secrets from me, it worried me more than anything. I wasn’t coldhearted toward the people I loved, just ones who I didn’t like. Leyna was family to me and I wanted to know what was going on with her but it was clear that she wasn’t going to tell me of her own will if she could help it. “Want to get some breakfast sleepy head?” She asked, clearly trying to sway the conversation away from whatever was bothering her so I wouldn’t find out. Nice try Leyna, but I am my father’s daughter and I will find out soon enough.
“Sure, after you tell me what’s wrong with you.” I said as I hopped off the bed and stretched again. She looked like she was going to die on the spot, it caught my attention but I said nothing for the moment. Not saying anything else, I picked up a hair tie and pulled my hair into a ponytail up on my head and then grabbed some socks. Sitting down on my bed, I pulled the socks on and then slid my shoes on, tying them and looking over at her. “I’m going down to the gym for a little while, we’ll talk over breakfast when I get back.” I said firmly, not leaving much room for her to argue.
Getting my key card, I slid it into the front of my shirt and stood up, going to the door and then walking out. Yeah I was a little harsh, but she was hiding something from me and I felt disappointed about that fact. Closing the door behind me, I started down the hallway, only to be mauled from behind. I squealed as strong arms went around my waist and lifted me up off the floor, it was not my idea of fun. A few seconds later, I was released and I whirled around, ready to hit some one until I came face to face with my Uncle Shawn. “You nearly scared me to death Uncle Shawn!” I said to him as I crossed my arms over my chest and frowned at him.
“Sorry Princess, I couldn’t resist hugging you.” He said with a grin before sweeping me into another hug, pressing me tight into his arms. I laughed and hugged him back, pressing a kiss on his cheek, “Warn a girl next time you pull that stunt.” Shawn laughed and mock saluted me, “Yes boss, I’ll warn you next time.” Shaking my head, I waved to him and then started my way back down the hallway again. Luckily for me, I made it downstairs without any more problems or interruptions. It was a miracle I’d made it, usually I was assaulted at least twice before I got where I was going to in the first place.
Looking around, I found the way to the workout room and went down the hallway, pushing the door open and stepping inside. It was hot in there, but that was ok, it was filled with guys from the rosters anyway. Smiling, I waved to some of them and then went over to where dad was doing some leg curls. Hopping on the machine behind him, I wrapped my arms around his shoulders in a tight hug. “Morning Sleeping Beauty, finally make your way out of dreamland?” He asked with a smile as he paused and turned enough to drag me into a tight hug. “Very funny, it was you who woke me up this morning if I remember correctly.” I shot back at him with a grin.
He laughed and then kissed my forehead before releasing me and going back to his leg curls on the machine. Smiling, I stood up and kissed the top of his head before looking around at the machines that were free for the moment. Spotting an empty treadmill, I made a beeline in that direction since Ley and I both loved those things. On my way there, I noticed that Kevin was in the gym as well, it was a bit strange since I knew he had an arm injury. He caught me looking in his direction and smiled at me, I smiled back and gave a light wave. Suddenly I wish I hadn’t done that though, as Jericho, klutz that he was, moved too slowly and I tripped over his feet.
With a squeal, I plastered the floor face first, groaning after the initial impact of face meeting floor. I was not one to trip or have accidents normally, but I had rare, very rare moments, this one wasn’t even my fault. Pushing myself up to my knees, I took a second to make sure I wasn’t bleeding all over the place. A pair of feet appeared in front of me and then strong hands caught me under my arms and hauled me up off the floor. I was tiny, but not many people could just haul me up like I was a piece of paper, no matter how awesome they are.
Kevin was grinning down at me when I looked up to see who had lifted me off the floor, and I grinned back. It was comical because I was a foot off the floor and he was still looking down when he looked at me. “You’re starting to take after Leyna, I’ll have to take you both to the hospital one day.” Kevin said as he sat me on my feet and then let go, crossing his arms over his chest, which was just huge. Everything about Kevin was big, no not that way, he was tall and built like a brick wall, his hands were bigger than both of my tiny ones, it made me feel even smaller than I already was.
“I have my moments, I’ll be more careful. Thanks for the pick-me-up though, Kevin.” I said as I grinned up at him. He laughed and put his hand on my head, rubbing a bit before bringing his hand away, “Just be careful, runt, we can’t have you getting hurt before a show.” Frowning, I batted at his hand and stuck my hands on my hips, sticking my tongue out at him, “I am not a runt, Kevin Nash.” Laughter came from around the room and I pouted expertly, trust me I’m a master as pouting. Softie that he is, Kevin fell instantly and gave me a light hug, “Ah, you know I didn’t mean it, Jasmine.”
Bingo, I always get petted if I choose to want petting, all I need to do is pout a little and they’re all wrapped around my little finger. Most people got jealous, but Leyna and I had always been masters at pouting when it came to our fathers and each other’s fathers. Bless their hearts, they still hadn’t figured it out yet, and who was I to inform them? Kevin let go a minute later and touched my cheek where it had smacked off the floor, “That’ll leave a bruise most likely, get some ice when you get back to your room.”
Yes I know, I needed you to tell me that though, Kevin, I smiled and nodded up at him, “I’ll take care of it when I get done here.” He grinned and I felt strange at that moment, not like I’d felt around him before until this moment. Leaning down, he tilted his head and softly kissed the bruised area of my cheek. It was strange, what I was feeling, he’d kissed scratches and stuff before, even after I’d grown up more, but this was different. His breath and lips were warm against my cheek, and I could smell that cologne that Leyna and I had went in together to buy for him at Christmas last year.
Somehow, I managed not to make a fool of myself when he stood back up and ruffled my hair a bit. Smiling, I waved a bit and then turned on my heel and got out of that room as fast as my legs could carry me. What in the hell was that all about, I’d never felt that way toward Kevin before; it was like a gunshot to the stomach or something. Biting my lower lip, I hurried to the stairs, taking them two at a time, turning sharply and nearly running down the hall to Ley’s room and mine. Unlocking the door, I slid inside and closed it behind me, leaning heavily against the solid wooden door.
“Is there something you’re running from out there, Nikki?” Ley asked from her bed and I nearly jumped a foot off the ground. She raised her eyebrows at me and I frowned before going over and sitting down on my bed. “Not that I’m complaining, but it seems like ten minutes is a little fast for a workout.” She said as she looked over at me, I pulled my shoes and socks off and cast her a look. “I’m going to get a shower, then breakfast.” I said simply as I put my socks and shoes aside, grabbed some clothes for the day and then ran into the bathroom as fast as I could. The last thing I needed was for her to find out that I was starting to be attracted to her dad, and not in a friendly way either.
No, I was seeing Kevin Nash as a man; a fully-grown man who made my heart beat faster and my stomach do flips. This would not end well somehow, if I fell in love with Kevin, I would lose Ley and Dad would likely freak out. All I could do was just ignore this feeling I was having and forget it ever happened in the first place. After all, I was Nikki Levesque and I could have any man I wanted if I set my mind to it. The problem was trying to convince myself of that completely. Stepping into the shower, I cut the hot water on and let it rain down on me, I had to find a solution to this problem before it got too out of hand for me to deal with.
