When Night Falls(Pt2)
A few days later, Joe followed the voices to the family room where he found Phil, Gail and Sav talking over early evening drinks of blood wine. He eyes swept over Sav as he casually reclined on the plush sofa, his bare feet propped on the table in front of him.
"You're not ready?" Joe asked him.
"Ready for what?"
"I thought we were going out tonight."
"I changed my mind. The three of you go ahead."
Joe's long strides brought him closer to the sofa. He sat on the edge, cautiously looking at Sav. "Are you feeling alright? Did you have enough uncut since you've been up? You look a little tired too me."
"I'm fine Joe. Stop being so over protective all the time."
"I'm sorry, but I can't help the way I feel... I just worry about you get.."
Sav rolled his eyes. He sat up and placed his hands on both sides of Joe's face. "Like always, you worry too much. Now go out with Phil and Gail and have fun. I'm going to enjoy a nice quiet evening relaxing on the beach."
Joe took his hand. "Go out with us. Maybe we can find a nice warm womanly body to share before we go home."
"You're leaving?" Phil said from the other side of the room.
"In a few days." Joe replied looking up at him.
"You don't have to leave, you can stay here as long as you want."
"We know that Phil, but Joe wants to go home and you know that I'll follow him." Sav told them as he held Joe's eyes.
"Come on babe..." Joe snaked his fingers over Sav's neck to tangle in his hair to pull him closer. "One last hoary in LA, it'll be fun."
Phil saw the situation for what it was. Just as Joe was pushing Sav back on the sofa, he flew across the room, grabbing Joe by the arm and pulling him away. "Oh no you don't. If you start that we'll never get out of here. You guys go at it more than Gail and I do."
"Are you going Sav?" Gail asked him.
"Yeah I guess so." He stood up. "Everybody is twisting my arm. I don't want to, but I will."
"I laid out your clothes on the bed." Joe called after him.
"Oh...now your dressing me?" Sav stopped on the stairs, looking at him.
Joe smiled wide. Sav rolled his eyes and flew up the stairs.
"Didn't take much to change his mind. Must be those pleading green eyes of yours Joe." Phil giggled.
"Must be." Joe said and spun around. "Gail come here." His voice harshly demanded.
"Excuse me?" Gail huffed, placing her hands on her hips.
"Gail could you please come over here?" Joe said sweetly.
"What for?"
"I need something to calm down this raging inferno for him." Joe grumbled, hooking his finger toward the stairs. "Help out an old man."
"I don't think anything will help with that." Gail chuckled and easily slid into his arms.
"I don't think...I know." Joe whispered seconds before gently sinking his fangs into her inviting throat.
"Don't take a lot." Phil smacked his arm as Gail's soft moan reached his ears. "And keep your hands to yourself."
Gail let her fangs drop and returned the blood kiss and didn't resist when Joe wrapped his arms tighter around her. Once they had their fill, Joe ran his tongue over the rapidly fading twin holes.
"When are you going to let me explore that beautiful body that lay hidden underneath your clothes?" Joe asked trailing his lips along her jaw line.
"That would take away the wonder and mystery." Gail lightly caressed his cheek, then quickly kissed him. Joe smacked her butt as she passed him in search of Phil.
"Joe!" Sav's yell filtered from stairs.
Joe whipped around, knowing he was going to get an ear full. Any kind of speech or thought flew from his mind seeing Sav standing there. The soft black denim jeans hugged his butt and legs, matching silk vest hung just past the waist band. The black of his clothes making the tiny gold chain stand out that adorned his neck.
"You want me to wear this?"
Swallowing past the lump in his throat. "Yes."
"I thought you told me years ago to stop wearing my pants so tight."
"I did, but not tonight."
"I can't wear these, they're too tight."
"Yes you can."
"No I can't."
"Yes you can." Joe repeated and moved closer to him. "You look great."
"I'm not going if I have to wear these." Sav huffed.
Joe let his eyes rove over him, stirring that fire in him once again. "Ok, you're right...go change."
"Thank you." Sav threw his hands up and stomped back upstairs.
Joe turned around to see Phil just staring at him. "What?"
"Oh nothing, it's just that I have to spend eternity watching both of you. Pushing the right or wrong buttons, getting all mushy gushy and weak kneed over something as simple as a pair of clothes."
"Suffer." Joe smirked, going over to pour himself a drink. "Besides you live on one side of the planet and I live on the other."
"Good thing too."
"Why is that?"
"I don't think I can take much more of the lovey dovey looks...oh kissie, kissie."
"I can remember a night where you rather enjoyed that kissie, kissie kinda stuff." Joe wiggled his eyes brows.
"Ok...sorry, you got me there...I won't tease you about that anymore." Phil pouted and flopped on the sofa.
"We could do that again one night Phil. All you have to do is ask." Joe said walking to the foot of the stairs. "Sav stop playing with your hair and come on!"
Sav appeared at the top of the stairs. "I was not playing with my hair smart ass."
"It took you long enough. What were you doing?"
"I was changing and it didn't take that long." Sav glanced at Phil, who looked deep in thought. "What did you do to Phil?"
"Gave him something to think about."
"Do I want to know what that might be?"
"No." Phil suddenly said and left the room.
A few minutes later the blaring of the car horn made Joe and Sav head out the door. Gail drove the group to the best club in town that catered to night people. Although mortals frequently came in to enjoy the atmosphere and the secret society of vampires that lived in the city.
Making their way through the crowd, to the table that Phil had reserved for them, greeting everyone they knew as they went. The house band played on the small stage some of the best and well known song of the past.
Once they were seated a waitress brought over two bottles of the best blood wine the club had to offer, along with four glasses. Joe quickly tossed his first drink back.
"I'll be right back." He leaned over almost yelling in Sav's ear. He scooted from the seat and weaved his way through the crowd to the other side of the club, where the music wasn't as loud. Placing his hand on the wall above her head, Joe leaned down and brushed her cheek with his lips.
"You're late. You know I don't like coming here."
"Sorry Crystal. I'll make it up to you."
"How are you going to do that Joe?"
"Hum..." Joe came within inches of her lips, pressing his body against hers. "Why don't you join us tonight at our table, then later on when we leave, you can go with us."
"And do what? Be your sex slave for the night, to toss out the door come morning."
"No."
Crystal held his eyes for a moment. "Here take your stuff." She pressed a small sealed package in his hand. "Where is my money?"
"You didn't think about my offer did you?"
"I did, but I don't want to be what you are Joe. That kind of life isn't for me. My life is miserable enough without having to live for eternity to remember that it is." Crystal turned her head away from him.
"I'm going home to Dublin in a few days. Leave this life behind Crystal and come with me, you can start anew over there. Who knows, in time you may change your mind."
"Why are you bothering with a nobody like me? I'm nothing but street trash." Crystal looked back up at him.
"I like your wit, your strength to put up with everything that life has thrown at you and you're....beautiful."
Crystal snorted. "You're just saying that to make me feel better and get me in bed."
Joe hooked his finger under her chin. "You are beautiful Crystal. Don't let anyone ever tell you differently. They only see the scars on the outside. I see the beauty behind them."
"Stop saying that." Crystal swiped at the tear that rolled down her cheek, then tried to push past him.
"Wait..." Joe grabbed her arm and pulled her to his chest. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you." He gently rubbed her back to try and calm her. "Listen...I have some friends I'd like for you to meet."
Crystal pulled away, glancing around him at the crowded club. "I...I don't know."
"Oh don't worry about any of them. Trust me."
"I don't trust any of your kind." Crystal snapped, her mood quickly changing.
"You can trust me." Joe smiled and laced his fingers through hers, gently coaxing her through the crowd toward their table.
