Chapter 2: Is This Real?
Andy sighed as she closed the door to the walk in cooler. She was done for the day and she was done an hour ahead of time. Which was good, since now she could take her time to clean up her prep area. She was just about to wipe down her prep table when Ethan came rushing over to her.
Not saying a word he grabbed her phone that she used to play music on since she was isolated in the back. All of sudden her music went from Jesse McCartney's "Out of Words" to PVRIS's "St. Patrick."
"What the fuck are you doing?!" She asked as she tried to grab her phone. He held it up high so she that she couldn't grab it.
"Come on Ethan you know how much I love that song!" She said and she finally grabbed her phone and changed the song back to was it was playing.
"You know I always finish up with Jesse McCartney!" She put her phone back on the shelf above the wooden prep table.
Ethan held up his hands and smirked, "Okay but you're gonna regret it in a few minutes," he said with a small chuckle and started to leave her area. Andy shook her head and started to wipe down her table, singing along to one of her favorite songs.
"Penny Dreadful guy!" Brian said as Ethan walked up to their table. He laughed and they all stood up and gave him a hug.
"Didn't think you guys would make it," he said as he took a seat next to Alex.
"We have a few of days off before we hit Europe for a few weeks then we'll be back home," Alex explained with a smile at Ethan.
"Is Andy here?" Lynn asked and the three guys exchanged knowing looks.
"Yeah she's in the back, finishing up." Just then he had an idea.
"Give me one second," he stood up and walked into the back room where they would reserve for parties and that's where his big boss would do his paper work and take meetings in the mornings.
He walked into the room and closed the door and hoped that his idea would work.
**********************************************
Andy took off her chef coat and underneath was wearing the PVRIS t-shirt she got at the concert and didn't realize that it was a little too tight. She didn't mind it, that's how she wore most of her shirts anyway.
Plus when she was almost finished with her shift she would take off her chef coat and clean up. She was getting the big bowl and the mixer ready to be washed. She set them up on the prep table and started to scrub around the machine so she could sweep and mop after.
This was her routine every time she made pizza dough. She stuck to it and it hasn't changed in the three years she's done prep. She finished scrubbing the machine and started to wipe it clean with a clean kitchen towel.
She was singing along to the song at the top of her lungs like she always did since no one really came back there. Unless it was to go to the walk in. The Jesse McCartney playlist was always her go to finishing up list. It motivated her to get her stuff done quickly. She didn't know why it did but it worked.
She took the mixer and the bowl to the dish area and started to wash them, not knowing that Ethan was giving a tour to three people. The dish area was so loud that she couldn't hear Ethan call her name. When he gave up he decided that when she was done she would see them at some point.
He took the three friends to her prep area, "I'm sorry about the playlist she's listening to," he said with a small smirk.
"Is this Jesse McCartney?" Lynn asked.
"Sadly yes, that's when we know she's about finished with her day. I don't know why but it helps her focus. Come on, there's still some stuff to see, and I'm sure Andy will be back when we circle back." He started to lead them into the walk in cooler and continued with tour.
Just as they disappeared into the walk in, Andy came around the corner with her mixer and bowl and started to put it back together. Again, singing along to the playlist, this time it was "It's Over," at this point she didn't care who heard her. This song got her through her break up and singing it was like a release for her.
Ethan, Lynn, Brian, and Alex were coming out of the walk in and Andy was just finishing up putting the dough mixer together. She stood up and started to belt out the words to the song with her back turned and grabbed her broom and started to sweep her area.
The four people just stood watching, Ethan was trying not to smirk, Alex and Brian looked at Lynn and again it was as if she was in a trance.
Not knowing they were there Andy used her broom as if it was a microphone on a stand, and continued to sing along to the song. After the song was over another song came on and she started to sing that song as well. Only this time she was finishing up her sweeping.
Alex tapped Brian and Ethan on their shoulders, and gestured for them to leave they nodded. Andy was singing, "Just So You Know," as she put the debris in her dust pan and threw the debris away. She clipped the dust pan onto the broom and hung it up on the wall. She disappeared into a small hallway and came back with a mop and mop bucket.
"Almost done," she said out loud. Still not knowing Lynn was there watching her.
Lynn didn't know if she should say something to let her know that she was there, or to find a place to hide, or just to keep standing there. Andy started to mop her area and her back was turned to Lynn. She was getting closer and closer to Lynn. She panicked and she went to find a place to hide. She didn't know why she was hiding, but she also couldn't explain why her heart was pounding so much.
She jumped when she felt some one touch her shoulder, "SHIT! Brian!" She whispered loudly.
"What are you doing?" He asked as Ethan and Alex came up behind him.
She shook her head, "I don't know, I can't seem to bring myself to talk to her," she explained.
Alex smiled and shook his head, "Lynn you wanted to come here and see her before we left for Europe. Come on," he grabbed her hand and she tried to protest but it was too late.
"Where did she go?" Alex asked looking around the prep area. Andy's phone was still on the shelf playing music, so they knew she was somewhere.
She came out of the small hallway with her head down looking over her floor and then grabbed her chef coat off the other table. Then looked up at the shelf and grabbed her phone. She turned off her music and started to check her phone.
She smiled when she saw a text from Lynn.
"Hey hope you're having fun at work. We have a few days off, might come and see ya for a day or two."
"Just got done, about to head home. That'd be cool if you came, but I understand if you can't come. You have a few days off and then you head off to Europe until December. If you do come I'll take y'all to this great place Ethan and I go to with some of our co workers. Hope you're not getting bored on the road. Okay shutting up now, I tend to talk a lot when I'm nervous. I mean text a lot, OMG, I'm ending this text right now. I'll talk to you soon."
Andy shook her head and hit "send" she couldn't believe she rambled. They were texting and calling each other for the last two weeks. Very casual, just mostly getting to know each other and finding out what they have in common and what they don't have in common. So far they had more in common with each other than they thought.
Andy heard some one's phone go off and she looked up from her phone confused. She looked around and saw Alex and Lynn standing there. She blinked a few times to make sure she wasn't dreaming.
"Is this real? You're really here? At my work, you're here?" She asked and took a small step back.
Lynn took a step forward and smiled, "Yeah we're here. I told you we would come see you for a day or two."
"Um, can you uh, just excuse me for a second," Andy said and walked out of the prep room and walk out to the front of the restaurant. She clocked out, said bye to some of her co workers and then walked back to the prep room.
"Okay, so uh, what are you doing here?" Lynn, and Alex smiled. Brian came up behind them and so did Ethan with a smirk on his face.
"Fuck you Ethan!"
All Ethan could do was laugh really loud, "I'm sorry bro, I just found out last night about them coming."
Just then, their big boss, Antony walked in and smiled, "Ethan give you guys a good tour?"
"Yes he did! This place is amazing. The food is great too!" Alex said shaking the older man's hand.
"Andy here is our best prep person. She does a lot too. Starting next year she's going to start making gelato," he said as he put his hand on her shoulder. Andy smiled sheepishly.
"She's well on her way to the top. Same with Ethan over there. I couldn't ask for more two amazing employees." He said with pride in his voice.
"Thank you sir," Andy said trying not to look at Lynn.
"I'm sure you all have plans, I have to get to a meeting, but it was nice to meet all of you." He shook their hands again and started to walk out of the back entrance of the restaurant.
Andy didn't say a word she just started to walk in the same direction of her boss. She needed air, she couldn't breathe, she needed to get out quick. Once she was outside she took a deep breath and let it out. She wished she had a cigarette but she quit while she was healing from her ACL surgeries.
It was times like this she fought the urge to have one. It wasn't long until the rest of them came out to check up on her. She felt a hand on her shoulder and she was met with hazel eyes, "Are you okay?"
Andy nodded, "Yeah just a lot to take in right now," she confessed.
"So what's there to do around here?" Brian asked.
"Oh we got a lot. We'll take you to one our spots tonight." Ethan said patting Brian's back.
******************************************************************
"Oh fuck," Andy said as they pulled up to their spot, "Mary's Bar" she forgot it was Open Mic night and Mary always put her name on the list. All her co workers and friends would be here tonight plus, Alex, Brian and Lynn.
Before they headed out for the night Andy changed her outfit at least ten times. Ethan was waiting for her in their living wearing a pair of jean shorts and a blue shirt. He was texting Alex and letting him know where to go and that they were going to meet them as soon as Andy decided on an outfit.
She finally decided on a short sleeve red button down that showed off her arms a little bit, a pair of blue jeans and her black and red Jordan's. She put on some cologne and went into the bathroom and looked at her hair and tried to figure out how she was going to do her hair.
She decided to go with the "spiked up front" look. She messed with her hair for about twenty minutes and finally got it to where she wanted it to be. She washed her hands and looked into the mirror, "Well this is as good as it gets," she said and turned off the light and walked out of the bathroom.
"Finally," Ethan said and stood up.
"Oh, shut up," she said with a smile. They left their apartment and Ethan called Alex to let them know they were on their way.
***********************************************
Lynn was checking herself in the visor mirror in the car, "Do you think I look okay?" She asked running her hand through her dyed blonde hair and checking her make up.
"Relax, you look fine," Brian said trying to not roll his eyes.
"Do you think I wore too much black?" She asked looking down at her skin tight black jeans and her sleeveless black shirt and black shoes.
"Lynn relax, I'm sure Andy's going to like the way you look. Plus there's no such thing as too much black," Alex said as he looked out the car window and waited for Andy and Ethan to pull up.
He saw the blue truck pull up and park near the entrance of the bar. No one got out for a few moments and then some one came up to the truck. Then a few more people. Andy and Ethan got out of the truck and started to give these people hugs and high fives.
Lynn, Alex, and Brian watched the exchange. Lynn, couldn't help but smile at the exchanges going on between all of them. They all started to make their way into the bar but Ethan, he looked around and then pulled out his phone.
He texted Alex telling him that they were there and asked where they were. "Come on guys," Alex said as he got out of the car. Lynn took a deep breath and took one last look in the visor mirror and got out of the car.
The trio walked up to Ethan and again greeted with hugs, "Come on I can't wait to introduce you to everyone."
Once they were inside Toby the young man at the door smiled when he saw Ethan, "I was wondering where you were." He said with a smile and but a band on his wrist indicating that he was of age to drink.
He then looked at the three people with him, "Oh my God! You're PVRIS!" He said with wide eyes.
The three laughed, "How's it going?" Brian asked.
"MARY!" Toby yelled to the bar, a woman in her late thirties turned around at her name being called. She turned and saw Ethan stand with PVRIS, She dropped the glass she was holding.
She walked around the bar and up to where they were, "It's such a honor having you here! Ethan and Andy can't stop talking about you. Not since they first saw you two years ago." She said and started to shake their hands, "Anything you want on the house!" Before they could thank her she walked back over to the bar and started to pour drinks as the bar back, Chase started to clean up the shattered glass.
"Come on I wanna introduce you to our world," Ethan smiled and put his arm around Alex and started to walk to where they would usually sit, a table right in the middle. The tables were already put together and everyone was sitting around the table and Andy was at the head of the table as always.
Ethan went around the table to introduce everyone to his new friends. Almost everyone was star struck when they met them. He could have sworn that McKayla said that she would definitely have Alex in her bed by tonight. He shook it off and everyone took their seats, and he made it a point to have Lynn near Andy.
A young man in his twenties with blue eyes and a slim muscular build came over to them and smiled, "Usuals for everyone?" He asked and everyone nodded. He laughed and saw Lynn, "You're new, what can I get for you?" He bent down so he could hear her, she placed her drink order, then Alex, then Brian. When he got their order written down he put his hand on Andy's shoulder, "Happy belated," he said and squeezed her shoulder. She smiled up at him, "Thank you Ed," she said and squeezed his hand.
It was close to ten and the open mic was about to start. Hoping that Mary forgot to put her name on the list since Andy was having a good time with her friends. At some point she didn't know how it happened but her hand found Lynn's hand under the table they wouldn't let go.
Lynn was talking to Michael and Andy was talking to Brian. Alex and Ethan were in the own little conversation. People were talking, laughing, drinking, eating, having a good time. The place started to get more packed because of what was happening tonight.
Mary went up on the stage, "Okay, everyone it's time to get this Open Mic started," she said and everyone cheered.
"Normally we have a sign up sheet, but tonight some special guests are here. Ladies and gentlemen PVRIS is in the house!" She said and the crowd roared with cheers, "Now if it's okay with them, I'm sure they wouldn't mind doing a couple of songs?" Mary looked in their direction and the three of them looked at each other and shrugged. Lynn stood up letting go of Andy's hand and as she walked behind her she gave Andy's shoulder a small squeeze.
They got up on stage and everything was set they just had to tune what they needed to tune. They were in their little huddled deciding on which songs to do and once they came up with three songs they broke apart.
"What's up? We're PVRIS," Lynn said into the microphone and smiled when she heard the cheers. "We weren't really expecting to play for another few days, but this is awesome. Um, we're gonna play a couple of songs. Now, after we're done I have a favor to ask." Lynn over at Andy's direction and she was talking to Michael, "Who wants to hear Andy sing tonight?" Everyone cheered and Andy was still talking to Michael.
"I guess she didn't hear you, who wants to hear Andy sing tonight?!" The crowd roared again and this time Michael pointed in Lynn's direction. Andy looked at her, "You must hard of hearing. We all want to hear you sing after us," she said with a small smirk.
Andy put up her hands and shook her head and started to say "NO" then the crowd started to chant her name. Andy finally stood up and nodded, "Okay, okay, but first PVRIS has the mic. So without further ado here's PVRIS!" She sat back down and looked at Lynn. Their eyes met and they smiled at each other.
***********************************************************************
"Thank you so much, we have one more song and then it's Andy's turn," Lynn said and the crowd cheered. The song started up and Andy couldn't help but smile at the tune that was playing. It was one of her favorites. Just as she was about to sing along some one came up behind her and put her arms around her and whispered, "Happy Birthday" she froze and stood up quickly.
Blue eyes, dark black hair and a wearing a sliming red dress stood her ex girlfriend. Andy's heart froze, her brain stopped working for a second.
"What are you doing her Nicole?" She asked with a cold tone in her voice.
"It's Open Mic night and your birthday was a couple of weeks ago so, I knew you would be here. Are you playing tonight?" She asked just then a guy in a nice three piece black suite came up to Nicole and gave her a glass of wine. Andy told herself to keep her temper under control. Nicole had the nerve to bring this guy here.
"You two know each other right?" Nicole asked with a little smirk.
Andy nodded trying to hide her anger, "Yeah, how's it going Nate?"
"Not bad just got a new investment. Gonna close the month out with a quarter of a million. How's the pizza thing working out?" He asked with a smirk and put his arm around Nicole.
"It's great thanks," she said sarcastically.
"Hey isn't that PVRIS?" He asked, Andy turned around and her eyes again met Lynn's. She knew something was wrong, but she couldn't really worry about it now. The song was almost over and she was sure Andy would tell her about it later.
Andy turned back to the couple, "Yeah they're in town for a couple of days before they head to Europe."
"What made them stop in this city?" Nicole asked with a laugh.
"Thank you guys so much! Now as promised Andy you're up," Lynn said with a smile. Alex and Brian put down their instruments and walked off the stage. The lights dimmed and Lynn came up to Andy and grabbed her hand and laced their fingers together, "Are you okay?" she asked.
Nicole noticed the closeness and wasn't too happy. Andy smiled at Lynn and nodded, "Yeah, I'm good." They stared at each other for a few more moments until Nicole cleared her throat.
Andy closed her eyes for a moment and sighed, "Lynn, this is Nicole and her boyfriend Nate."
Lynn shook their hands, "How you guys know Andy?" she asked.
"Oh that's easy let me tell it," Andy said with fake enthusiasm.
"See Nicole and I were together for five years. Then, she broke up with me out of no where on the night I was going to propose to her. Come to find out she was seeing Nate for two years behind my back. Nate works for some Wall Street or something and makes a shit ton of money.
I guess my life as prep cook/line cook wasn't enough for Nicole. Now she has someone that makes a shit ton of money and doesn't have to work a day in her life. That's how they know me," she said. Nicole and Nate stood there with blank expressions on their faces and Lynn was shocked to hear what she just explained.
Nicole fake smiled at Lynn and took Andy's arm, "Excuse us," she said.
Nicole pretty much dragged Andy to the bathroom and shut the door, "What the fuck Andrea?!"
"What?! You weren't going to say it. Some one had to!"
"Oh so you're dating a rock star now?!"
"What's it to you?! YOU left me remember! You don't see me digging into your life! Need I remind you that YOU'RE the one that BLOCKED ME! I don't want to hear it Nicole! You destroyed me and you don't even fucking care!" Andy started to leave but Nicole grabbed her by the arm.
"Look, I'm sorry, I didn't think seeing you with some one else would make me feel jealous, but it does. Things with Nate aren't going so well, I think he's cheating on me."
Andy couldn't help but scoff at that last statement, "You're real piece of work Nicole!"
"Please, Andy give me a second chance. I promise it'll be different this time," she said and started to move closer to Andy. Her lips almost touched hers but Andy grabbed Nicole's arms and pushed her away, just as Mary came into the bathroom.
She saw the situation and looked at Andy as if to tell her to come talk to her later. "You're up sugar." With that Mary left.
"Why don't you stick around for my set?"
Nicole smiled, "Of course I will," she said in a sultry whisper. Andy shook her head and left the bathroom. She walked up to the table and down her drink. She didn't say anything to anyone and just unbuttoned her shirt all the way down showing off her skin tight tank top underneath.
When she got on the stage, she grabbed an acoustic guitar and started to tune it. Ethan watched as Nicole slowly came out of the bathroom. He was about to go up to her but Michael stopped him, "Don't start anything, let Andy play and let her explain. You know she expresses herself through her music."
Ethan nodded, "I'll get you another drink," Michael offered and waved down Ed. He placed a drink order and smiled. Ed gave him a wink and walked away.
"Hey guys," Andy said into the microphone. The crowd cheered and began to chant her name.
"Thank you. Hey let's give up for my friends, PVRIS!" She said and everyone clapped and cheered.
Lynn looked up at Andy on stage and couldn't help but smile and again she didn't know why she was feeling as if she was a school girl with a crush. She hasn't felt that way in a long time. Not until she saw Andy at the meet in greet two weeks ago.
"As most of you know, Ethan and I went and saw PVRIS in Charlotte. We got to meet them, I was a blabbering idiot," the crowd laughed. "Then, Ethan won the raffle and we got to go backstage and watch the show and then hang out with them on the bus. It was an amazing experience and the fact that they're here is even more incredible. But enough about that. Tonight I'm gonna do a couple of Jesse McCartney songs if that's okay."
The crowd cheered, "FINALLY!" Some one shouted.
Andy laughed, "Shut up Ethan!" She said into the microphone.
"Okay so this first one is called, 'I Told You So.' If you're not familiar with it, it's pretty much about a break up and the girl tries to come back but singer isn't haven't it. I love this song because it gave me the strength to move on and to not go back to some one that ripped my heart out." The crowd started to murmur and Nicole and Nate could feel eyes on them, but they ignored them and kept their eyes on Andy.
Andy closed her eyes and strummed the guitar and started to play the soft melody.
"Lookin' at you now I can tell
That you and your new relationship ain't goin' well
There's no reason your name should come up on my cell
Unless you're unhappy but that shouldn't be the case
Lynn couldn't help but look at Nicole, 'How could this girl break Andy's heart?!' She thought to herself. She just couldn't believe she let some one like Andy go.
'Cause you said said he was the one
Baby yes you said said you were in love
'Cause when you left me you said that you wouldn't be
Comin' back remember that but I never agreed
Lynn looked at Nate and how he was standing straight up with his slicked back strawberry blonde hair and his deep intense green eyes. She couldn't help but think he looked familiar, she just couldn't place it. She couldn't believe Nicole left Andy for money not love, it was all for money. She scoffed and shook her head and looked back at Andy smiled a little as she heard her sing the song.
I hate to say it but I told you so
Told you if you left that you were gonna be miserable
Guess he don't do it like me or else you wouldn't be
Runnin' back to the past it was you that left me
I hate to say it but you know I'm right
Every time you're up be callin' for me late at night
But now that you ain't got me tell me where you gon' be
'Cause I can't take you back no my heart won't let me
Nicole shook her head, she knew that song was about her. She knew she made a mistake and she thought Andy would take her back. But that all changed when she saw Lynn look at Andy. Then, Andy looked back at Lynn the same way she used to look at her. But the way she looked at her was different. There was something there between them. Nicole didn't like at all. She knew she didn't have place to have that feeling but she couldn't help it.
Girl you know he can't touch like I do
I don't see you trippin' or flippin' over his moves
Don't take a genius to see he ain't that dude
But you let him back you don't know what you was on
"So who is that girl?" Alex asked gesturing to Nicole.
Ethan sighed, "Remember that girl I told you about that broke up with Andy?"
Alex and Brian nodded and Ethan went on to explain, "That's her and that's the guy she left Andy for. He makes a shit ton of money." Both Alex and Brian were also thinking that he looked familiar but they couldn't place him in the dim lighting of the bar.
When you said said he was the one
Baby yes you said said you were in love
'Cause when you left me you said that you wouldn't be
Comin' back remember that but I never agreed
Andy couldn't help but look over at Nicole and shake her head a few times while she was singing. She had some nerve to do that to her in the bathroom and she wasn't having it. Tonight she was supposed to have fun and move on with her life. Then, Nicole showed up and turned everything around for a moment.
I hate to say it but I told you so
Told you if you left that you were gonna be miserable
Guess he don't do it like me or else you wouldn't be
Runnin' back to the past it was you that left me
I hate to say it but you know I'm right
Every time you're up be callin' for me late at night
But now that you ain't got me tell me where you gon' be
'Cause I can't take you back no my heart won't let me
For the second time Lynn could hear the pain in Andy's voice and she couldn't blame her. Finding out your girlfriend was cheating on you and with a man no less, was one the worst betrayals of all. Especially after they were together for so long. It must have been a real blow to Andy.
You fall on hard times it seems
But you ain't gettin' no sympathy
No baby not from me
'Cause I told you you should never leave
See you chose this road so you gotta go it alone
Remember I told you so
Nate couldn't help but feel that something was off. He didn't like being uncomfortable. But he also grew up being respectful. So he would wait until Andy was done with her set and they would leave. He made more money than her and he got the girl. That's all that mattered in his eyes.
I hate to say it but I told you so
Told you if you left that you were gonna be miserable
Guess he don't do it like me or else you wouldn't be
Runnin' back to the past it was you that left me
I hate to say it but you know I'm right
Every time you're up be callin' for me late at night
But now that you ain't got me tell me where you gon' be
'Cause I can't take you back no my heart won't let me
(Song and Lyrics by Jesse McCartney)
Andy finished the song and the crowd cheered, she couldn't help but smile, "Thank you guys! I got one more in me and then I have to go back to my friends. So this next song is not really known by Jesse, but I found it and I couldn't help but fall in love with it. Also the main reason I'm doing this particular song is because when I met PVRIS," the crowd cheered and Andy laughed.
"So, when I met them, I literally had no words to say. I ended up being a blabbering idiot in front of them. Especially Lynn, being a blabbering idiot in front of Lynn Gunn was the most embarrassing thing that could have ever happened to me."
"I can think of more things than that!"
"SHUT UP ETHAN!" The entire crowd yelled and everyone laughed.
Lynn couldn't help but kind of blush at what Andy said. She didn't think she was a blabbering idiot. She thought she was cute and after actually talking to her she thought she was amazing. If only she could she would spend more than just two days with her.
"But that night when we were hanging out on the bus her and I got to talking and I found the words. But then I kept loosing them. I just kept talking and talking. It may have been none sense mostly, but anyway this song is called 'Out of Words' and Lynn, I hope this explains why."
Andy closed her eyes and took a few moments and started to play the melody of the song.
"I could write a paragraph
In my sleep
I could sing a million songs
In perfect key
And I could perform a Broadway show
Up on a stage
But in front of you
My mind goes blank
Lynn couldn't help but blush a little bit more as Andy was singing this song. For someone that couldn't find words to say that night, she found a lot of words. She looked over at Alex and Brian and they were watching Andy with small smiles on their faces. She could not have gotten through the last couple of years if it wasn't for them. Then, Andy happened, everything was still new, but she couldn't wait to see where it would go.
Cause you've got a glow like
Sunsets in autumn
Perfect like summer nights in July
And I don't know how what
When or why but
Whenever I look into your eyes
Alex stood up and walked over to Lynn, "So are you glad you came?" He asked her and put his arm around her as she nodded her head.
"Yeah, I don't know why I wanted to come and now I think I found out," she said and looked up at her best friend. He kissed the top of her head and gave her a friendly squeeze.
I run out of words to say
I run out of words to say
I run out of words to say
I run out words
Run out of words
Run out of words to say
"What's the story on Alex?" Ethan asked Brian.
The bass player almost spit out his drink and looked at Ethan, "Uh, well," he chuckled as he took a napkin and wiped his mouth. "Yeah he's straight, straight as a board." He said matter of factly.
Ethan laughed, "I know that but, I also want the story on you too. I feel like all three of you have a story to tell. Not just as PVRIS but as individuals."
Brian looked over at his two best friends and smiled, "We all have our own stories. But ours isn't any different than others. Lynn had a rough couple of years. We have her back and she has ours. Just like how you have Andy's and she has yours."
Ethan nodded and smiled, "I'm glad we met you guys," he said.
"Same here, buddy, same here," Brian said and patted Ethan on the back.
I could win a scrabble game
Any day
I could teach myself to play
A symphony
But there's something about
Your perfect smile
That weakens me
And it ties my tongue every time
Michael came up to Lynn and Alex and smiled, "Don't think about taking her away from us," he said jokingly. Lynn and Alex laughed.
"She has a real talent and she can't let that go to waste." Lynn said.
"I agree but she tried, no one wants her. Trust me. Before she came to work for us she was here every night only making about one hundred to two hundred dollars every two weeks. She sent out demos, and even posted stuff online, but no one wants her." Michael explained.
"So she came to work with us and she hasn't really picked up a guitar unless she's here and she normally just plays in the house band. Also it's really rare when she sings. So Lynn, Alex, and where ever Brian is, whatever you guys did, you inspired her again thank you. But if you take her away from us just let us know in advance," again he was joking on that last part.
Lynn couldn't believe no one picked her up. How could these labels not sign her?
'Cause you've got a glow like
Sunsets in autumn
Perfect like summer nights in July
And I don't know how or
When or why but
Whenever I look into your eyes
Andy just happened to look over at Lynn and smiled. The butterfly feeling she felt in her stomach was still there. She thought it would be gone by now but it was still there. She had to keep telling herself it was only because she was famous and that she was hanging out with her. But something else was telling her it was more than that.
I run out of words to say
I run out of words to say
I run out of words to say
I run out of words
Run out of words
Run out of words to say
What Andy was feeling at the moment the same feeling was going through Lynn. She didn't know if she was ready for a new relationship. Her ex girlfriend was pretty much her first girlfriend and it only lasted two years. Plus with Andy being here and working here and with her being on the road a lot she wasn't sure if they could have a relationship.
What's behind those eyes
That leaves me paralyzed?
Speechless every time
I'm going out of my mind (ohhhh)
The sun stops when you're near
Girl, it's crystal clear
One day you will hear
The sound of my heart
Brian made his way over to Lynn, and Alex, "I think we needed this. Just some time to chill out and make new friends."
"I couldn't agree more, it's nice to take a break every once and while. We should do this more often," Lynn said with a smile and put her arm around her other best friend.
"You guys are amazing I love you!" Alex said and they ended up have a small group hug.
I run out of words to say
I run out of words to say
I run out of words to say
I run out of words
Run out of words
Run out of words to say"
(Song and Lyrics by Jesse McCartney)
"Thank you everyone!" She said and everyone cheered. "LET'S DRINK!" She said and every one cheered louder. She put the guitar back and got off the stage and walked over to the trio and smiled. Lynn didn't say anything she just walked up to her and gave her a hug. Alex and Brian nodded at each other and walked away.
Lynn and Andy stayed like that for a few more minutes until one of Andy's coworkers came over and popped confetti popper near her ear, "OW! DAMN IT BRENDAN!" He just laughed and ran away.
Andy shook her head and looked at Lynn, "Thanks for coming, it really means a lot," she said with a smile.
"You're welcome. I'm glad we were able to come out for a few days," Lynn touched Andy's cheek. Both didn't know what was going to happen in the future but again they were just going to enjoy the moment. Things always change in a moment and at this moment time was frozen, nothing else mattered but them, and right now they wouldn't have it any other way.

"Alright just called Rick, he's getting our table together," Michael said as everyone started to exit the bar.
Rick's Cafe has always been their spot after a night of drinking and having fun. They would call Rick as soon as they were leaving Mary's and he would have everything set up for them. Michael told him to set up three extra places. One especially next to Andy. Rick just chuckled and told Michael that he would see them soon.
Andy was leaning against the wall with her arms around Lynn who was facing away from her. Lynn's back was leaning against Andy and her arms rested on Andy's. Andy could tell she was trying to fight sleep. They had a long trip coming here and Andy wanted her to get some rest.
"You don't have to go to Rick's," Andy said softly.
Lynn leaned her head back and rested on Andy's shoulder and looked up her with a smile, "Yes I do, I wanna know your world. You got a preview of mine, now I wanna see yours." Lynn turned around in the other girls arms and put her hands on her shoulders. She rested her head against hers and they stayed there for a moment.
"How is this happening right now?" Andy whispered.
Lynn shook her head, "I don't know. I'm at a loss of what to do."
They both started to lean in, their lips just barley touching, "COME ON I'M HUNGRY!" Brendan the only redhead of the group shouted at them.
Andy sighed and stood straight up, "FUCK YOU BRENDAN!" She yelled at him and gave him the middle finger. Andy walked Lynn over to the car they came in and opened the door for her.
"I'll see you in a bit," she said with a smile. Lynn smiled and then hesitated to get into the car. She looked at Andy and gave her a quick peck on the lips and got into the car. Andy smiled and closed the car door. She walked over to her truck and opened the driver side. Ethan was already in the passenger side and he was looking at her with a goofy grin.
Ignoring him she started up the truck and started to back out, "Shut up Ethan," she said but this time with a smile.
They got to Rick's Cafe and they were waiting for Michael and Brendan to pull up. Ethan tried to call them but he all he was getting was their voicemails. Andy was standing behind Lynn with her arms around her and Lynn's arms resting on hers. For some reason the two didn't want to let of each other.
Everyone was chatting away when a car started pulled into the parking lot. The BRZ sounded as if it was grinding gears and everyone was cringing at the sounds. Once the car was parked they got out, "Goddamn it Brendan! That's the last time you drive my car!" Michael shouted as they started to walk up to the group.
"Fun trip?" Andy asked with a smirk.
Michael shot her a glare and she let go of Lynn and put her hands up, "Sorry dude, should have told not to let Brendan have control over a manual."
"Come on guys, Rick's ready for us," Ethan called out to the group. Andy took Lynn's hand and started to follow the group into the Cafe.
As usual Andy was at the head of the table and Lynn was to her right. Andy claimed the head of the table seat a while go. No one wanted to ever sit at that spot for the longest time. Until one day they were all at the Cafe and they had an extra seat and they all had to move down. Andy ended up at the head of the table spot and no one said anything since.
The only ones looking over the menu were Brian, Alex and Lynn. Michael was helping Brian out, and showing him what was good and what wasn't. Ethan was doing the same with Alex and of course, Andy was doing the same with Lynn.
Martha a lady in her fifties and with blue hair came over and started to give everyone water. She knew that's what everyone gets plus a cup of coffee to help them sober up.
"Oh, we have some new faces," she said with a smile.
"Martha these are our new friends, Brian, Alex, and Lynn," Andy said smiling putting her hand and on Lynn's. Which didn't go unnoticed by Martha.
"Welcome to Rick's babies," she said with a smile and got out her notepad.
"Now, usuals for everyone else?" she asked and everyone nodded but the trio.
She came up to Brian first and started to take his order.
Lynn and Andy looked at each other, "So you're gonna go back to the hotel after this?"
Lynn looked down at their entwined hands and put her other hand on top of Andy's, "Well I was thinking that the boys could go back and I could spend the night with you," she said looking up at Andy with hopeful eyes.
Martha came around to Lynn and asked her what she would like to eat. At that moment Andy took out her phone to send a quick text to Ethan.
"Dude she wants to fucking spend the night! What do I do?!"
She waited for Ethan took look at his phone and when he finally did, his head shot up at Andy faster than a bullet. He looked back at his phone and started to send his reply.
"Dude no way! What did you say?!"
"Nothing! What do I do?! Say yes?! Dude I can't have sex with her yet! It's too soon!"
"Maybe she just wants to cuddle?"
"Idk dude! This is going too fast! I hope she just wants to cuddle! I don't think I'm ready to start dating again! ESPECIALLY THE LEAD SINGER OF A BAND!"
"She's looking at you! Talk to her! Let me know and I'll make other arrangements ;)"
Andy put her phone the table and looked at Lynn with a small smile.
"So what do you think?"
"Uh, sorry," she gave out a nervous chuckle, "Think about what?"
"Me staying over tonight?"
Andy cleared her throat, "I would love for you to stay the night, but I'm not sure I'm not ready to be.....well...uhhh......I mean, I'm not ready to uh well um to be......... physical," she confessed.
Lynn's eyes went wide and let go of Andy's hands and covered her mouth and closed her eyes, "Oh my God! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean that!"
Andy let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding and leaned back in her chair.
Lynn grabbed Andy's hand, "I just want to be in your arms tonight. We leave for Europe in a few days and I want to spend as much time with you as I can before we leave."
Andy kissed the back of Lynn's hand and then looked back up at her, "I don't know what's going on here, but I like it. I just haven't had this feeling in a long, long time. It just seems like it's progressing faster than normal."
Lynn nodded, "I know what you mean. Let's just take these next few days as it comes and we'll go from there."
"That I can do," Andy smiled.
"After here wanna follow us back to the hotel and I'll grab some clothes?"
"I think it would be easier if I give you my address and you come over to my place. I'm sure Ethan is going to stay with Michael and Brendan and they could meet us there as well."
"Sounds like a plan."
"It's a good thing I have the next two days off." Andy pulled her closer and they couldn't wait to spend the next few days together.
Everyone paid for their food and they put all their dishes together like they always did to help Martha out. They left their tips and started to get up to leave.
Ethan was going to stay with Michael and Brendan for the next few days while Lynn stayed with Andy. Alex and Brian were going to stay at the hotel, but tonight they were going to stay with Michael and Brendan as well. They didn't want the night to end and they were having a blast with everyone.
Michael and Brendan were going to meet Ethan at his and Andy's apartment and then pick up Ethan. Lynn, Alex, and Brian were going to their hotel to get some clothes and also meet at Ethan and Andy's apartment. So that way Ethan could grab some clothes and ride with them and follow Michael and Brendan back to their place.
Ethan gave Alex and Brian his address just as Andy was giving it to Lynn as well. Just in case something happened and one of them lost it.
They were all saying bye to everyone else that came out for the night and as always Ethan and Andy waited until everyone was out of the parking lot. It was a safety thing for them. They wanted to make sure everyone got out safe.
Once everyone was out Andy backed up her truck and they headed home to get their other plans in motion.
**********************************************
When they got to their apartment complex Michael and Brendan were already there waiting for them. Andy pulled up next to them and Ethan decided it would be a good idea to moon Michael, since he wasn't paying attention. Brendan just happened to look over and laugh. Michael looked at him in confusion, "It's definitely a full moon tonight!"
"What are you- OH MY FUCKING GOD!" Michael yelled as his three friends were laughing so hard they couldn't breath. They were still laughing when Alex pulled their rental car next to Michael's and saw what was going on. Ethan's ass was still hanging out of the passenger window of Andy's truck.
Andy finally turned off the truck and got out. She could barely walk she was laughing so hard. Alex, Brian, and Lynn got out of their car and they were chuckling but not laughing as hard as their new friends.
Andy put her arms on the rim of the bed of her truck to hold herself up that she didn't see Lynn coming her way. She was in tears when she heard Ethan fart and only made her laugh so much harder that she fell to the ground. Lynn rushed over to her to make sure she was okay.
She couldn't help but smile at the laughing girl on the ground. To see her have this much joy on an immature prank brought a smile to her face. It made her think that she did have a sense of humor and that she would be okay with being able to laugh at the funniest thing.
"Come on, can you stand?" she asked and Andy nodded and she helped her stand up.
"Come on Ethan, you need to get your clothes," Andy said as she took Lynn's bag and wiped the laughing tears from her eyes.
Ethan pulled up his shorts and got out of the truck, "Think I need to shit before I leave," he said as he put his hand on Andy's shoulder.
"Come on Brendan, Ethan's gotta shit, you know what that means," he said as they both got out of his car.
They walked up the two flights of stairs to the apartment and Ethan opened the door and made a beeline for the bathroom. Everyone walked in, Michael and Brendan made themselves at home on the couch and Andy decided to give the trio a quick tour.
"Welcome to our humble abode. Here's the living room, kitchen, small hallway, bathroom, Ethan's room straight ahead and my room right across the bathroom. It's small but we manage," she said with a smile.
"It's nice, better than the bus. It doesn't move," Brian said and they all chuckled.
Andy knocked on the bathroom door, "Make sure you spray asshole!"
"I got you dickweed!"
Everyone made themselves comfortable in the living room until Ethan was done. Michael was asking questions about them being on tour and they would ask questions on how it is to work in a restaurant.
After about twenty more minutes of conversation Ethan finally came out of bathroom and he went into his room and he packed his over night bag. He emerged from the hallway with a his goofy grin, "About time, fuck!" Brendan said.
"You ready?" Michael asked and Ethan nodded. Everyone said bye to Andy and Lynn giving the two a hug and they were out of the door. Andy locked it behind them and started to check the windows and then looked back at Lynn.
"So," she started to say.
"So," Lynn said after.
"Uh, let's get ready for bed?" Andy asked and Lynn just nodded.
Lynn decided to get ready for bed in Ethan's room just because they both were still new at getting to know each other's comfort level.
When she was done getting into her sweat pants and long shirt she walked into Andy's room and just caught Andy putting on a sleeveless shirt and she caught a quick glimpse of her abs and she saw how well toned her arms were. She saw them tonight and felt them as well. She noticed another tattoo going down her upper arm that she didn't really see it because of her shirt. She just stood there taking her in and she couldn't help but feel the butterflies again. Only this time it was more intense.
After a few more moments of her standing in the doorway she finally walked over to the other side of the bed. Andy was going through her nightstand drawer and found her remote.
Lynn got onto the bed and started to get under the covers and got comfortable. Andy was still standing up turning on her TV to set up her Netflix.
"I hope you don't mind, but I have to sleep with some sort of noise. Normally I have a mediation on my laptop, but since your here, a movie will do," she said with a smile and climbed into the bed next to Lynn.
"It's okay, I know what you mean, when we're not on the bus I need something because the noise from the bus helps me sleep. It's soothing," she said smiling.
They were scrolling through the movies and shows until they both decided on one. Andy smiled and hit PLAY on her remote and put the remote on her night stand and turned off her lamp. She started to get comfortable and then Lynn took Andy's arm and put it around her and she snuggled up to Andy.
Andy smiled and kissed the top of her head, she turned her attention back to the movie. Tonight was truly a great night.
