“Fuck,” I mumbled as I stared at the calendar. Today was the two year anniversary of Zacky and Brian’s deaths…
I hated this day. Last year I spent the majority of it drunk, trying to forget it ever happened… Hoping to wake up and find that this had all been a nightmare…
Bree was no where to be found last year… Not that we ever saw much of her anymore. I talked to her almost every day, but I didn’t see her that often…
She wasn’t so depressed lately, she was more like herself… But she’d gotten a new job in LA, working as a photographer and had buried herself in her work.
I walked through my apartment and over to the fridge, opening it and grabbing a beer. I popped the top and sat down at my rickety table, taking a swig of the liquid before sighing.
Someone began knocking at my door. Grumbling, I made my way over and opened it.
“Hey,” she said weakly.
“H-hey,” I blinked staring at her. She wasn’t crying, but I could tell she was hurting and that she had something on her mind.
“You know what I miss the most about before all of this happened?” she asked, leaning against the doorframe.
“What?” I asked, knowing it must have been Zacky.
“I miss you, Matt… I fucking miss you! I loved Zacky and I loved… I love you…” she said with a small smile. “You’re the only thing that kept me going after they both… left… You were the only person that made me feel safe, without even trying… I miss you.”
My jaw nearly dropped and I blinked a few times as I stared at her. “Bree… I’m right here, where I’ve always been… Waiting for you, and I’m not going anywhere,” I said at last before hugging her.
She pressed her lips to mine in a long kiss before letting out a relaxed sigh, “I love you..”
I shut the door behind her and kissed her deeply, our tongues colliding as I pushed her against the wall, “I’ve always loved you.”
