"I closed my eyes
And let you fall.
I wonder what you could possibly know
About breaking down that I don't."

Carrie shifted her weight from one foot to the other as she checked the time on her phone. The plane was nearly twenty minutes late. She tried sitting, but she couldn't get comfortable. She even signed a few autographs while killing time, thankful for the lack of photographers as she waited for the Texan.
"Excuse me," she said, smiling politely at one of the airline employees that walked by.
"Yes?" the girl who couldn't have been older than Carrie replied.
"Do you--"
"Oh my God," she breathed.
Carrie frowned, she hated to be rude, but now was definitely not the time for a hysterical fan.
"You're...you're..."
"Carrie Underwood," Carrie nodded. "Can you please tell me when--"
"Oh my God," the girl was shaking with nerves.
"Are you gonna be ok?" Carrie asked.
"You're Carrie Underwood," the girl reminded her.
"Yes, and I was wondering if you could please--"
"Oh my God, my friends are so gonna freak out when I tell them I met Carrie freaking Underwood."
Carrie heard the announcement of the arrival of Kelly's flight over the airports intercom system.
"Nice meeting you," Carrie gave a quick smile before hurrying away. She felt bad, but she honestly never knew what to do with fans like that. She couldn't understand why in the world they would get that excited over meeting her.

Carrie's eyes searched the faces of the people walking into the terminal. She felt herself grinning from ear to ear at the sight of the short Texan, walking towards her. To a lot of people, her aviators and ball cap would be enough to make her indistinguishable, but that huge smile that was beaming from underneath her sunglasses, immediately gave her away to Carrie.
"Hey you," Carrie greeted, pulling her into a hug. "I was getting worried for a minute there. How was the flight?"
"Good," she nodded, as Carrie took her bag from her.
"You look tired," Carrie commented, taking off the Texan's sunglasses.
"Well, it's only 6:30 in the morning," Kelly reminded her, rubbing her eyes and putting the glasses back on.
"Well, let's get you home, how's that sound?"
Kelly shook her head, "I have to be in the studio for nine."
"Kell," she frowned. "You need some sleep."
"There's always time to sleep later," Kelly shrugged, following her through the airport.
"Plus, it's not healthy for you to go straight to the studio after getting off a plane. You're gonna get sick and end up messing up your voice."
"There's always time to get sick later," she mumbled.
Carrie looked back to find Kelly walking with her eyes half closed, bumping into people. She shook her head, taking Kelly's hand in her own, guiding her through the crowd.
"Well, you can at least sleep on the ride there," Carrie said, putting her bag in the back of her car as they got in.
"Can you pass through the long term parking lot real quick?"
"Yea, why?"
"Just want to make sure the car's still there."
"You're car's here?" Carrie asked, driving around the parking lot.
"Yea."
"Why didn't you just drive it?"
"Cause I drive worse than an elephant on speed," she replied, tiredly, spotting the car. "Ok, there it is. We can go."
"An elephant on speed?" Carrie asked confusedly.
"Jason," Kelly said simply.
"Ah," Carrie nodded, glancing over to find Kelly curling up in her sleep. "Hot? Cold? Music?"
"I'm fine," she yawned.
Carrie smiled at the short girl. She looked completely adorable at that moment. It was almost hard to believe that she was who she was.

"Kell," Carrie shook the Texan gently. "Time to wake up."
Kelly grumbled as she sat up.
"Hey, we're at your house," Carrie pointed out.
"Ok, I'm just gonna go freshen up a little bit, and I'll be right back," Kelly replied, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
Carrie looked at her questioningly.
"Shit, I'm sorry," Kelly frowned. "I didn't even think to ask. I mean, are you doing anything right now--"
"It's fine," Carrie smiled. "I'll bring you."
"Thanks so much, seriously. Jason and Ashley really hate for me to drive, especially by myself. Seriously, I'm the worst driver in the world."
"I doubt that."
"Don't," Kelly insisted, getting out of the car. "And I'll be right back. I swear."
"Take your time," Carrie insisted. "I have nothing going on today."
"You're my savior," Kelly grinned.
"And don't you forget it," Carrie laughed.

Kelly was rushing back out the front door, before having to run back to lock it. She jumped into the car with a smile.
"I was expecting you to slide across the hood," Carrie teased.
"I have to save some of my tricks for later," Kelly replied. She had changed into a different outfit and put on some make-up, not even bothering to try and tame her hair.
Carrie frowned as she took Kelly's chin in her hand, turning the Texan towards her so she could study her face. The dark circles under her eyes were still visible underneath the make-up.
"You look like death."
"I've been writing a lot," Kelly shrugged. "Waking up at two in the morning every morning will do that to you."
"I thought you were going to Texas for a break?"
"Can't miss the opportunity of writing a hit song," she smiled, but it didn't quite meet her eyes.
"Why don't you just call in sick?" Carrie asked.
"Stop worrying," Kelly insisted. "I'm fine."
"How many songs are you working on today?"
"Three, hopefully."
"Kell..."
"Care..." she grinned.
Carrie narrowed her eyes at her, still holding her chin in her hand.
"Look," Kelly said, becoming serious for a moment. "Why don't you come to the studio with me? That way you can see for yourself that I'm ok. And if you think that I need a break, then you'll be there to tell me. How's that?"
"Well..." Carrie sighed.
Kelly's phone rang, "One sec," she said as she took it out of her purse, answering it. "Hey Jay. Um, sure."
Carrie raised an eyebrow as Kelly handed her the phone.
"It's for you."
"Hello?" Carrie asked.
"Um, Carrie, right?"
"Yea..."
"Hey, this is Jason, Kelly's brother."
"Hey," Carrie smiled. "What's up?"
"I just wanted to check and make sure that Kelly had made it back ok," Jason replied.
"Yea, everything's good. I'm about to bring her to the studio right now."
"Thank you so much for doing this," Jason said.
"Trust me, it's no big deal."
"Good, because I wanted to ask you a favor."
"Ok?"
"She hasn't been getting much rest," Jason admitted. "Even when she was over here, she was working non-stop, so I was wondering if maybe you could just make sure she got some sleep tonight? I mean, I know you're probably super busy and everything, but seriously I would owe you so much for this."
"Sure," Carrie nodded.
"Really? Cause we're not getting back there for a couple days, and unless somebody makes her, the girl's not gonna rest."
"Don't worry about it," Carrie replied, winking at Kelly. "I'll take care of her."
Kelly rolled her eyes as Carrie hung up the phone, "What'd he tell you to do?"
"Make sure you get some sleep," Carrie smiled.
"You'd swear I was five or something," Kelly folded her arms, but was unable to stifle the yawn.
