Chapter Twenty ~ Balancing Act.
~*~*~*~
All of us arrived at Nadine’s house about a half an hour later. The conversation centered around Nadine’s relationship with Robert. As we arrived at Nadine’s house Nadine darted out of the car and met us on the porch. Michael’s cell phone rang, playing James Brown ‘I feel good.’ I turned around as Michael waved his hand for us to go ahead. So Nadine and I continued inside the house. Ms. Willis wasn’t home, so we went up to the spare bedroom where I was staying. We began to pack then we heard what sounded like Michael yelling in anger at someone. Nadine and I stopped what we were doing and ran into Nadine’s mother’s room where Nadine opened the window and gazed down. I could see the top of Michael’s head from where I was standing.
“Michael, is everything all right?” Nadine yelled. He waved for us to go away. Nadine slammed the window shut. “Ooh, I can’t stand him.” Nadine said, kicking her mothers dresser on her way out of the room. “Look, lets just pack up my shit and not worry about Michael’s troubles. I’m sure he’ll let us know what the deal is soon enough.” I said trying to calming Nadine down. “I just can’t stand that idiot.” Nadine said, folding up a shirt that was on the floor. She threw it in my suitcase. I went to the bathroom and gathered up my toiletries when I heard a car spin out. I looked out the small bathroom window to find the Mercedes gone and black skid marks were left in their place. “What the hell!?!? Where the fuck is he going?” I asked, racing downstairs and running out of front door, to find Michael’s car racing off in the distance. I ran down the road as fast as a could until I was breathless in hopes that Michael would hear my voice but to no avail, those brake lights didn’t come on. ‘You just got played Crystal…’ “Shut up!!!!” I yelled out loud to my head. “DAMN!” I said, kicking a pebble out of my way as I made my way back inside. “Is he gone?” Nadine asked as she met me in the doorway. “Yeah…” I said, my voice quavering a little bit. “Maybe he’ll be back.” “Maybe.” I said, running upstairs to pack my stuff. After my large, wheeled, carry-on was packed, Nadine and I played some DDR, waiting for Michael to come back. At two, I lugged my carry-on downstairs. Pretty soon it was ten after two and I grabbed a phonebook looking for the nearest taxi service. I dialed the number and a man answered the phone. “Hello, I was wondering if I could get a taxi from…” There was a knock downstairs. Nadine ran downstairs to answer it. “…Rahney to Dublin International…” Michael suddenly entered the room and I breathed a sigh of relief. “Actually never mind, my ride just showed up.” I said hanging up. I turned to Michael who had a worried look on his face. It made me forget about reaming his ass for leaving me. “What the fuck is going on, Michael…” Michael then threw a piece of folded paper on the bed. I unfolded it, they were copies of tabloid covers. All of them, had the picture of Michael and I in a passionate lip lock. “WHAT THE FUCK!!!! Michael---” “This is what I took off for. My agent called me saying that all of the tabloids are printing this starting this week…” “Wacko Jacko in love with another wacko, Jackson in a love triangle, Jacko locks lips with fellow fan…God! It’s started hasn’t it?” My stomach started to churn, my knees felt weak. I had to sit down. Nadine looked at all of them, her too had a look of agony. She sat down next to me. “Yes, this is what I feared would happen…” Michael said solemnly. “What took you so long?” I asked, my hands in my lap, not looking up at him. “I had to drive back to my place and had to check my email then I had to print them then drive back here.” Michael said, sitting next to me, wrapping his arm around me as a way to console me. But I needed no consoling, I needed restraint to keep me from killing that heartless bitch of a tabloid reporter. “Oh God, I’ll kill her Michael, I swear to it!” I said , getting up and pacing back and forth on the floor. “Damn it! I wish I had more time, I’d know exactly how to lure that selfish little cunt too.” “Crystal killing her won’t solve the problem, although, I’d kill her myself if I knew where the bitch lived.” Nadine said, her voice turning venomous. Michael let out a sigh of uneasiness. He was feeling the tension in the room. I let out a breath and looked at Michael. “Michael, what do you suggest we do?” I asked, my eyes meeting his. “I suggest we lay low,” “Well that’s easy, I’ll be in Sweden by myself for two weeks…” I said trailing off, then I checked my watch. “…which reminds me, if we don’t get going, I won’t get through security and customs in time to make my flight.” I said grabbing my jacket off the bed. “Are you packed?” “Yep, bag’s downstairs.” I said, walking out of the room, being followed by Nadine and Michael. “Good, I’ll get it out to the car.” Michael said, as he went over to my bag and wheeled it out to the car. “Did you want me to go with you?” Nadine asked, her eyes meeting mine. I nodded. “That’d be great.” I said as we walked out the door. The sky was dark gray and a strong westerly wind had begun to blow. Michael shut the trunk as Nadine and I ran to get into the car. Michael quickly got in and rubbed his hands together. “Brrrr…if this is what I think it is, you may not be taking off today.” Nadine said as we began to head west to Dublin. The snow began to fall about one mile west of Nadine’s town. The further west we got, the more the snow began to fall. When we finally arrived at the airport the temperature had dropped ten degrees to a cold -14C ( 6.8F ) and Michael could barely see past the front of the car from the freak blizzard that had started. Both Nadine and I weren’t dressed warm enough. “Okay ladies, race inside, I’ll get your bag Crys.” Michael said, as he exited the car. Nadine both exited the car as we ran inside to get out of the cold. Once inside, my eyes went to the flight board, and looked for my flight number. My heart sank when I saw that my flight had been cancelled. “It’s cancelled…that’ can’t be…” I said taking my flight itinerary out of my pocket to double check the number. Yep, sure enough it had been cancelled. “Find out anything?” Michael asked approaching me. I shook my head. “My flight’s been cancelled.” I said, looking at Michael. “No, that can’t be…” “Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for choosing Ireland Air, we regret saying this, but all outgoing flights have been cancelled. All incoming flights are still arriving…” I let out a breath of frustration. “Well, why don’t we go over to the customer service counter and reschedule your flight…” “Okay,” I said as the three of us took our place in the growing line at the Courtesy Counter. We stood there chatting about the weather and how quickly it had changed. An hour had past before we even got up to the counter. “Hello miss, what can I do for you today?” The man asked, his eyes looking over at Nadine. I looked at him and gave a small smile. “Yes, I was wondering if I could reschedule my flight to Sweden, it’s been cancelled. When would the soonest flight you would have?” I asked, looking at the red-hair man while handing my tickets to him. He took them and entered the information in. “Our soonest flight isn’t until Wednesday…” “Wednesday!?!? Are you serious?” I asked, flabbergasted. “Yes ma’am. This storm is quite a doozy, they’re calling for nearly a meter of snow to fall.” The man said, his eyes not leaving his screen. “Really? So Wednesday is the soonest you have then?” “That’s what it’s looking like. Would you like to reserve a seat?” “Yes, that’d be great.” “Okay, I’ll need to see you’re Passport please?” I handed it to him. He took it and entered the information. He handed my passport back to me. My new ticket and itinerary was printed and he handed the ticket to me. “Okay Miss. Goetz…” “Its pronounced Getz…” I corrected. “Sorry, Miss, Goetz,” He correctly pronounced, “Here is your new ticket and itinerary, you will be leaving on Wednesday afternoon at 4:50 pm. Please arrive at least an hour early to allow enough time to get through customs and security. It’s been a pleasure doing business with you.” The man said, looking over Nadine again. I thanked him as we walked away from the counter. Michael let out a sigh of discontentment. The car, which Michael had parked, was now stuck underneath at least a foot, if not more of snow. “Damn…” Michael muttered. “Don’t worry Michael, lets give him an hour or two, he’ll dig you out, I’m sure they aren’t allowed to bury cars like that.” I said sitting down in a chair. I pointed to the free seats on either side of me. “Well sit down, relax, we might as well wait.” I said crossing my legs. Michael sat down next to me as Nadine sat on the other side of me. Michael grabbed a newspaper from the desk beside him and flipped it opened and began reading it. Nadine and I began talking about the weather and how she should’ve warned me about the weather forecast but forgot. “Attention customers, flight 453 arriving from LaGuardia Airport in New York City has arrived and is now unloading passengers. Thank you for using Ireland Air.” My heart nearly stopped as the people began flooding into the lobby. My eyes landed on a skinny, brown haired man, wearing a blue Carhart jacket, carrying a bright blue backpack. My heart literally skipped beats. The world closed in around me. Jason had arrived. I kicked Michael’s foot pretty hard, to get his attention. Nadine looked at me then her eyes landed on Jason. “I can’t fucking believe it.” She muttered in disbelief. He hadn’t seen us yet. Michael had seen him and let out a snort of hatred. His hand wrapped around mine, I looked at him and his eyes reflected love. “I’ll be here if you need me. I’m going to hide behind this paper. Just pretend I’m not here.” Michael said in a low voice. I nodded as I stood up. Nadine stood up beside me. I crossed my arms over my chest as Jason looked up, his eyes meeting mine. He made his way over to me and opened his arms wide for a hug. “You got some fucking nerve coming over here. You know that?” I snorted, my eyes meeting his. Jason’s arms dropped. “Crys, I came over here to apologize and to make it up to you.” “Oh, make up the fact that you fucking cheated on me with a whore named Tasha? Please, you could’ve used the money better because I’m not forgiving your sorry ass.” I said, raising my voice a little, causing people to look at the two of us. Jason lean toward me. “Is there any place that we can talk in private? Perhaps a coffee shop of some kind? Who is this anyways?” Jason asked, looking at Nadine. “This is Nadine, not that it should matter, because she hates you too.” I said, shifting my weight from one foot to the other. “Please Crys, save me the melodramatic mood and talk to me like the adult I know that you are.” “Fine, I’ll meet you over there at that café over there.” I said, giving in. “Where are you going?” Jason asked, slowly walking over to the café. “I’m getting my purse, I’ll be right there.” I said, reassuringly. Jason nodded then made his way over to the café. I turned around and grabbed my purse. “Why the hell am I even doing this…this is ludicrous.” I said, looking at Michael, who had put his paper down once Jason was out of sight. “Because you need to talk like mature adults…” “Jason? A mature adult? That’s a stretch.” I said, rolling my eyes. Michael’s hand came to hold mine. “Do you want me to keep a watch?” “Yes, please, it would be very helpful.” I said, flashing him a smile. He nodded. “You got it sexy lady.” Michael whispered. I could feel his eyes on me as I walked away. I walked into the tiny café which was virtually empty except for the cook and waitress who worked there. Jason had picked a corner table. I rolled my eyes and forced myself to sit across from him. The waitress came over and set two menus down in front of us. I skimmed through the menu, and settled on Cream of Potato soup. “What are you getting?” Jason asked, eyeing me. “Potato soup.” I said simply, setting my menu down. Michael quietly sat down, his eyes meeting my uncertain ones. I looked away quickly, being careful not to raise suspicion with Jason. “That sounds good, with a cheeseburger of course.” Jason said, setting his menu down. His eyes scanned over me lustfully. I rolled my eyes, feeling disgusted with him. “You look…different.” “Different? How?” I asked, suddenly panicked that Jason had figured something out that I didn’t know. “Yeah, your make-up, you switched it up I see.” Jason said, studying my face. “Oh that. Yeah, it was Nadine’s idea to give me a makeover.” I said lying quickly. My eyes quickly glanced at Michael who glanced at me from the corner of his eye then turned back to his menu. I looked back at Jason, who hadn’t taken his eyes off of me. This is pure torture. Michael do something! My mind screamed. I put a plastic smile on as the waitress came to take our orders. Once our orders were taken the waitress went to Michael’s table to take his. “So, how’s Ireland?” “Beautiful, I like it.” I said, picking up my fork and twirling it around in circles. “That’s great, how was your Halloween?” “It was great until the point when you called me and told me you were fucking Tasha.” I said, taking a sip of my water. “Will you forgive me? That was stupid on my part, and I’m sorry…” “No Jason, I won’t. Not this time. I forgave you these past two times, but this is your third strike and as far as you’re concerned, you’re out of my life.” I said, my eyes meeting his. His fist slammed on the table causing the waitress to jump. Michael looked up from his newspaper. “No damn it! We aren’t through. I’ll take you back with me one way or the other. I traveled over 3000 miles and I’m not going back empty handed…” Jason said through his teeth. Nadine suddenly came rushing into the diner. In her hand there was a tabloid. “Crystal…” “Why the fuck are you interrupting? What the fuck is this?” Jason said ripping the tabloid out of Nadine’s hand. “No!” Both of us said in unison, I jumped forward to try and rip the flimsy magazine out of his hand, but it was too late. Jason had seen the front page. He jumped out of his chair as his eyes turned to me, hatred and disgust filled them. “You fucking two-faced bitch! You’re fucking Michael Jackson the fucking pedophile.” Jason said, taking a getting up out of his chair. I got up and stood up to him. “Oh you’re one to talk Jason, it takes one to know one, right?” “Don’t even bring up my past you stupid bitch…you won’t live to fucking regret it.” Jason snarled venomously. “Ooh, I’m so fucking scared, is that the best you can come up with? Are you jealous?” I asked, egging him on. Michael had froze in his place, carefully watching the scene unfolding. Jason was still glaring at me. “Why are you jealous? You fucked Tasha, am I not entitled to fuck who I want?” “Not. Michael. Jackson.” Jason dictated his fists clenched tightly against his sides. “Why not? Is it because he’s black?” “No.” “Then why? You fucked Tasha, but yet I can’t fuck around on you?” “You‘re my fiancé. You. Belong. To. Me.” “No she don’t.” Nadine interjected. “No, I don‘t. I broke that shit off the moment I heard you were fucking Tasha. I moved on that very night too and just to let you know, Michael’s so much better in bed.” That was the straw that broke the camel’s back. “YOU WHORE!” Jason said, raising his fist and bringing it down upon my face with brutal force. A crushing pain struck the right side of my face cause me to spin around and land to the floor so hard it knocked the air out of me. I tasted the iron, saltiness of blood as I ran my tongue over my lip. It was split. I heard glass breaking. I looked up to see that Michael had pinned Jason to the wall. “LEAVE HER ALONE!” Jason looked at him then Jason did something I had never seen him do. He punched Michael in the face and just kept punching. “I’ll fucking kill you!” Jason roared, as he knocked Michael to the ground. Michael had somehow managed to dodge Jason’s punches and gain control of the fight. He punched Jason once and pushed him out of the café. Jason drew in a deep breath and looked at me. “So that’s how it’s going to be huh? Him over me? You’d choose a freak over me?” Jason asked, blood trickling down his nose. He wiped it and spat at Michael. “That’s right.” I said, as I took off the ring he had given me. I threw it at him. He caught it against his chest. “It’s over between us, goodbye Jason.” I said venomously. Michael stepped in front of me protectively. He pointed at Michael. “You’ll regret this Jackson,” “Looking forward to it.” Michael said, his eyes not leaving Jason as Jason walked away from us. Once his was out of eyesight, Michael turned around. His hands immediately came up to my face and studied it. “You’re going to have one hell of a shiner. It’s already starting to swell.” Michael said looking at me. He took a handkerchief out of his pocket and carefully wiped my lip. I winced in pain. “You were so brave! I’m so proud of you.” Michael said, his lips crashing down on mine carefully not to cause me pain. We quickly dislodged. “I’m proud that you won the fight. If you hadn’t, only God knows…” “Let’s not think about that now. Let’s get you back to my place.” Michael said, his hand interlacing with mine as we grabbed my stuff quickly and raced to the exit. Once outside, Michael picked up a handful of snow and placed it on my eye lovingly. “Here, this should keep the swelling down.” Michael said, dragging my suitcase behind him. “Thank you.” I said. Nadine looked at me. “What are you thinking about?” “How it’s my fault that Jason got so upset with you. If I had only waited to show you that tabloid.” “You know what Nadine, I’m glad you did. It gave me more incentive to drop that asshole.” I said referring to Jason. The snow pile that had accumulated around Michael’s car had been cleared away, we all hopped in his car. I grabbed another handful of snow and placed it over my eye. “Hey Crys, I have something that might cheer you up.” Nadine said, handing me the tabloid. I opened it and found the article about Michael and I. Michael Jackson’s New Mysterious Lover. Just yesterday the King of Pop was found at Iva’s Dress Company shopping with two unknown accomplices, when MJ locked lips with an unidentified brunette. It is unclear if she is a fan of Michael’s or not, but our insider tell us that they are definitely romantically involved. According to insider, Lilith Chase, Michael was paying extra attention to the brunette. There was an underage blonde with the couple, but we have yet to establish what the relationship she has to the brunette. Later on, the trio was spotted at BonAppetite where Lilith was cornered by the unknown brunette tell her to “Back off” and that her and Jackson’s relationship was “None of her business.” According to Lilith, the brunette flushed our insiders phone down the toilet as a message to leave her and Jackson alone. THE GLOBE will be following this story as it continues to unfold. “That’s funny, at least they don’t know who I am yet, but I know that bitch’s name now.” I said, giving the tabloid back to Nadine. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
