Chapter 20: Okinawa Adventures Part 2/ Back To It
Andy took a sip of her drink chuckling at the two in front of her. They were headed towards the base that she lived on while she was here. It was around lunch and she pulled into the McDonald's. She told them that their burgers and fries would look EXACTLY like the picture. They didn't believe her. She shook her head and smiled.
After they placed their order and received it, they found a table and sat down. It was then that Lynn and Mila went into somewhat of a shock looking at their burgers. Andy just leaned back and started to eat her Big Mac, piece by piece. Like she always had, since she was ten.
She looked at her watch wondering how long it would take for the two of them to come out of their shock. She did tell them, but they didn't believe her.
"So are you two going to eat, or stare at you food all day?" Andy said with a small chuckle.
"I'm too scared to touch it!" Mila said.
"It looks just like the picture!" Lynn said.
"I told you." Andy said in a sing song voice. "Better eat before it gets cold. Got a lot to do today."
"You're right, but first I need to take a picture!" Mila said taking out her phone and started to click away. Lynn was already doing the same thing.
It didn't take long before Andy's phone started to chime. She smiled and shook her head taking her phone out of her pocket and looking at the notifications. Mila and Lynn tagged her in the pictures. She put her phone on the table and crossed her arms. She leaned back and waited for the two to put their phones down.
After a few more moments they put their phones down and Lynn looked at her. She already knew what was wrong. She reached across the table and put her hand on her arm.
"I'm sorry. I forgot. But I just couldn't resist."
Andy nodded uncrossing her arms, taking Lynn's hand in hers, "It's okay. I get it. It was picture worthy."
"I won't wait too long next time." Lynn kissed the back of Andy's hand and gave her a gentle squeeze. Andy returned the squeeze and smiled.
"What did you do?" Mila asked as she started to eat her food.
"Growing up, during meal times, we weren't allowed to answer the phone. Then, when cell phones were becoming popular, we wouldn't have our phones at the table. If they were, they were turned off or put on silent. Meal time was family time. We wouldn't see each other all day and mostly dinner time was when my family and I would catch up with our day.
We even had game nights on Friday when I was in middle school. Happened right after dessert. TV would be off for about four hours and it was just us spending time together." Andy explained.
"Are we going to do that?" Mila asked.
Andy shrugged, "Maybe. I would like to, but also remember we might be on tour. So family time might be a little different."
"Did you ever go to college?" Mila asked.
"Why do ask?" Andy answered with a question.
Mila shrugged, "I don't know, you're what thirty two, three. You know a lot and just wanted to know if you had?"
Andy shook her head, "I dropped out twice. It wasn't for me. Doesn't mean I didn't try. College isn't for everyone. I always said if I ever went back it would be for something I love. Writing and History."
"I read somewhere that you were a chef?" Mila sat back taking a sip of her drink.
Andy chuckled and leaned on the table, "I wouldn't say chef per say. I was more of a line cook. Was in the restaurant business for a long, long time. I thought it was my calling for a while. Even thought about going to culinary school, but why waste the money, when I can learn all I can in the kitchen."
"Can you teach me how to cook?" Mila asked with excitement.
Andy chuckled, "Of course. I've been teaching Lynn for a while too. She makes some mean pancakes thanks to me." She said winking at Lynn.
"Yeah, well you are a great teacher." Lynn said with a smile.
"Come on, we should get going. Got a lot to do today." Andy said and they started to collect their empty containers.
It wasn't long until they were back in the car and Andy was driving towards the gate. The guard checked their passes and cleared them through. She thanked them and she slowly went through the gate.
As she was driving through the base she was pointing out the places she used to hang out. The movie theatre, the food court, the pool, where she would play soccer with her friends. She smiled seeing the skate park and found a parking spot.
She took a breath and turned off the car. She looked at the basketball court and the memories started to flood back to her. She started to breathe a little heavy and Lynn noticed. She put a hand on her back and told her to start taking deep breaths.
Andy nodded and did what she said. Lynn placed a hand over Andy's chest to make sure her heart wasn't beating too fast. She took a second to feel and started to time the heartbeats. She let out a small sigh of relief. Andy's heart wasn't beating too fast to where she needed her medicine.
"You two go ahead, I just need a minute." Andy said. Lynn nodded and told Mila to get out of the car. Lynn leaned over and kissed Andy's cheek. She said to come out when she's ready. Andy nodded and took in a deep breath.
When Lynn and Mila were out of the car they were sitting at one of the picnic tables under the shade of a small structure. Lynn looked back at the car and could tell Andy was trying to work up the courage to come out of the car.
"What's going on?" Mila asked and Lynn turned to look at her.
"As much as she talked about this place, I don't think she ever really talked about the bad stuff. It was always good things. Ethan did say she had a traumatic experience here, but she never said what it was. He said he would hear her scream at night when she had nightmares. When she would come to, she would say things that didn't make sense." Lynn told her and sighed.
"Andy is still opening up to me about her past. She wants to leave it behind. At least all the bad stuff. I told her to tell me everything. The good and the bad. I don't push her about it though. When she's ready she'll talk to me. I think that's also why we work together so well. We don't push each other. Not since Ireland. When we're ready to talk to each other we do. It may take time, but we eventually talk about things." She said and they heard the car door slam.
They saw Andy walking up to them. They both smiled at her but she walked past them and went straight for the basketball court. The two stood up and followed her. Mila took Lynn's hand in hers and she looked down at her and smiled.
"It's okay. She's okay." Lynn whispered. They stopped a few feet away from Andy, who was in the middle of the court looking at the basketball hoop. She let out a sigh and rubbed the back of her neck. She lifted her other hand and interlocked her fingers behind her neck. She didn't want to tell this story but she knew she had to.
She turned around and saw the two of them standing there. She gave them a small smile and walked over to them.
"Okay, so that building over there is where I used to live on the fifth floor. I would cross that bridge, and walk through that field over there to get to this basketball court to practice. We had a basketball championship coming up and I wanted to work on my three pointers and free throws.
So I came here after lunch and I started my little warm ups. I had the whole court to myself. My friends were meeting me here and they were running late. I started with my free throws. Worked on those for about twenty minutes or so." She cleared her throat and walked towards the basketball hoop and stopped at the free throw line.
"I was bouncing the ball and kind working on my foot work as well. Coach said I need to be able to break ankles." She finished with a chuckle.
She cleared her throat and turned back to the basketball hoop. She took a few more steps towards it and stopped. She continued to tell her tale.
"Before I go further, I had these four best friends in the entire world. They were my boys. Eric, was my first love, Mat was my best friend in the entire world, Ryan was the jokester, and Ray was just in love with me but wouldn't admit it. Anyway, the five of us were heavy into popping pills, drinking, getting high, smoking cigarettes.
But we all promised each other we wouldn't snort, or shoot anything up. I never questioned where they got all that stuff. I just went along with it. I do remember them saying a name, Sammy. I just thought it was another friend, I never met him. Until this one day." She took a few more steps towards the hoop and stopped. She raised her hand and started to slowly move it like she was bouncing a basketball.
"I was right here. I was just here, waiting, wondering if I should practice my layups. When I heard this voice. This deep grunting voice, 'Where your boys at?'" She said with a deep voice.
"I didn't turn around, 'They're on their way. Said they would be here in twenty.' I told him. I was looking at the hoop ready to shoot the ball." Her hand stopped moving and she shook her head. She covered her mouth and she started to remember that horrific day.
She turned back to Lynn and Mila. Lynn wanted to take a few steps closer but she knew Andy had to let this out in her own way.
With a shaky breath Andy took her hand away from her mouth and just let the tears run down her cheeks. She didn't even take off her sunglasses to wipe them away.
"The next thing I know, I'm hit in the back of the head. I'm knocked to the ground. I try to look at him and all I see is a beard, sunglasses, and a ball cap. The sun was shining and that's all I saw before I saw his fist coming down hitting me in the jaw. He kept hitting me." She made the motion of what she remembered.
She stopped the punching motion and looked down at the ground, "I was on the ground and I felt his boot connect with my stomach. Just over and over again. By the time he stopped, he grabbed my hair and pulled me up and said, 'I'm gonna fuck up your life!' He threw me to the ground and I watched him walk away."
She held back a sob and shook her head, "I saw him one more time back in Virginia. I was at the beach and I was hanging out with some friends. We were walking along the water line and we ended up under the pier. I saw two men, and one of them looked up at me. He smirked at me, and that's when I knew." She took off her sunglasses and finally wiped the tears from her eyes.
She sniffled and cleared her throat, "Before you ask about him, he ended up getting arrested and sentenced to death for other reasons. Mat's Uncle who I swear is a mob boss or something, had him on the fast track. About three years after he got arrested I get the phone call that Sammy was put to death. I didn't ask questions. I kind of fell off the map for a few months, trying to process everything. The nightmares aren't as bad as they were. But I still get them."
She wiped her eyes again and put on her sunglasses, "As much as I love this place, this the one spot that I couldn't bring myself to come back, until now. It took a lot of strength to face this again. I guess I just needed closure. I'm glad you two are here with me. Both of you gave me the courage to face this."
Andy let out a sigh as Lynn walked up to her and took her hand, and placed her placed her other hand on Andy's chest, "Is this the man you see in your nightmares?"
Andy nodded, "It's always the same. I hear his laugh, it's like a horror movie. I'm going through these halls trying to find my friends, or those I care about. Either way I can never save anyone. I think that's why I'm always trying to fix people. To save them from something."
Mila walked up to them and took Andy's hand in hers, "Just how you and Lynn saved me from that horrible foster home."
Andy smiled looking at her. She let go of her hand and gently touched her cheek, "I don't like seeing people in pain. Doesn't matter what kind it is. I'd rather be the one in pain instead of those I care about."
"We're a family now. You don't need to save us. You don't have to go around thinking you're going to burden anyone anymore We're here and we're not going anywhere." Lynn said.
Andy pulled her in close along with Mila. In that moment, all that mattered was the three of them. Andy finally realized why she was here. Why she was put on this earth. This is what she was searching for, a family, a reason, and she finally found it.
*********************************************************************************
Andy and Lynn were walking down the sidewalk with a wide eyed Mila in front of them. Andy chuckled watching Mila look at the window shops.
Before they left the basketball court Andy took them around the playground. It was also her bus stop for school. In the summer time she would play in the skate park, and playground. After about an hour they headed back to the car and it was time to show them Gate 2 Street.
The car ride was mostly silent, but it was a comfortable silence. Every now and then, Andy would point out something and Mila would ask a couple of questions. She was more than happy to answer them.
Now, here they were just walking down the sidewalk window shopping. Andy had her arm around Lynn's shoulders and she had her arm around Andy's waist. Both just happy watching Mila enjoying the sites.
"You would think she would've picked a shop by now." Lynn said softly. Andy chuckled and just nodded.
"Something will catch her eye soon. I know mom and Wendy had a blast here every time we came here." Andy told her and kissed Lynn's temple.
"You know, I'm proud of you for telling us about what happened to you. Gives me an idea about your nightmares." Lynn said looking at Andy.
"At first I didn't want to tell you, but I had a deep talk with Ethan. He told me it would bring us closer as a family. Sometimes I don't listen to him, but I'm glad I did." Andy pulled Lynn closer as Lynn gave her a squeeze around her waist.
"I'm glad you did too. Otherwise it would have eaten away at you and it would have gotten worse for you. We're both opening up slowly. Taking our time. Not to push each other."
"Another reason why I love you." Andy turned her head to her and leaned in. Their lips met briefly. When they pulled away they heard Mila saying that she found a cool shop. They both laughed and followed Mila into the shop.
The small bell chimed and Andy took off her sunglasses and placed them on her head. She looked around and smiled. She knew this shop very well. Lynn and Mila were excitedly looking around.
She looked around the shop and smiled, "Nothing's changed. Not even after all these years." She said mostly to herself.
"I tried to keep the way mom and dad wanted it." Andy heard a voice and turned around to see a beautiful young woman with long black hair, and light brown skin.
"Nina."
"Andrea."
They both said at the same time. Andy walked up to her and the two embraced. They held each other tight and finally let go.
"It's so good to see you." Nina said in a soft voice.
"Good to see you too. It's been too long." Andy said with a smile.
"What brings you by after all this time?"
Andy smiled and looked in the direction of Lynn and Mila. Nina followed her gaze and smiled. She turned back to Andy and gently touched her arm.
"I knew you were always going to settle down. Just thought it was going to be a little sooner. By the way, are you protecting yourself?" She looked at her with concern.
Andy reached into her shirt and pulled out her necklace. Nina saw the cross, the key and a small crystal point.
"Pyrite. Do you have any others?"
Andy nodded, "I do. I keep onyx with me as well along with the clear quartz."
Nina really looked at Andy, "They don't know. You don't want to tell them. Not after what you told them today."
Andy nodded and fully turned to Nina and cleared her throat, "I uh, haven't actually been using it. Things in my life have finally come together and I still haven't fully learned how to use it. There is a small place back home, but I'm in the process of moving to Boston."
Nina nodded and walked behind the counter and pulled out a small notebook. She flipped through some pages and found what she was looking for. Andy walked up the counter and watch Nina take out a piece of paper and pen. She wrote down something and gave it to Andy.
"She's a good friend of the family's. Tell her I sent you and she can help you hone in and stay grounded." Nina said giving Andy the small piece of paper. She looked at it and smiled.
"Thank you. My deja vu has been more frequent lately. Plus I've stopped writing. Things have been getting a little weird with me. I just don't know how to tell them. I was reading some of my old notebooks, and I wrote about a young girl; she was having a rough time in school. Her home situation wasn't going so well." Andy looked over at Mila and smiled.
"That was about five years ago. Then, Lynn and I met Mila and everything just seemed to fall into place. Lynn is a different story. When I was with Nicole, I just kept seeing someone else every time I looked at Nicole. I wasn't seeing her green eyes, but these hazel eyes, and then I met Lynn. Once I met Lynn, it was like I don't know, like, my soul was on fire or something. It was weird." Andy crossed her arms, and Nina noticed the wedding band on her finger and smiled.
"I stayed up to watch the live stream of your wedding. It was beautiful. By the way, nicely done on handling that bar fight, and damage control. Let's get back to you and Lynn. A couple of years ago I felt you calling out. I don't know how but were you calling out for advice or something?"
Andy nodded, "I was kind of praying in a way, I guess. I just wanted to know if I was picking the right path."
Nina smiled, "Your guides are telling me that you are happier than ever. You've turned your life around, in a good way. You had a few scary moments. Oh, wow. Oh my God!" She looked at Andy with wide eyes and then she glanced over at Lynn. She looked at Andy and rushed around the counter and gave her a big hug.
This took Andy by surprise and she chuckled, "What? What did they tell you?" Nina let go of her and held her arms.
"Better be ready for a lot of tea parties, and dolls." Nina said and Andy looked at her with wide eyes.
"Wait are you saying that we're going to have.....?" Andy trailed off and Nina nodded. Andy looked in the direction of Lynn and Mila, then back at her old friend.
"Don't say a word. But wow! Oh my God!" Andy pulled her friend in for a hug and Nina laughed.
"Oh by the way, I'm so sorry about your parents." Andy said softly gently tightening her embrace with Nina. She smiled and pulled away.
"Thank you. They caught the guys and they're serving life terms."
Andy nodded, "I wish I could've been here."
"I felt your presence. They're excited that you're here and with your family."
Andy smiled and looked to Lynn and Mila again, "I know your mom would've loved Lynn."
Nina nodded and looked at them as well. After a few moments Andy turned back to her, "Okay, enough about me. I read somewhere that you might be selling this place?"
Nina sighed and walked back around the counter. She pulled out a ledger and gave it to Andy to look through. Andy flipped through the pages and shook her head.
"Mom and dad never told me just how much debt they were in. They kept their heads above water, but I'm losing more money than I thought."
"Ever thought about taking up a partner? I mean, I always thought you and I would run this place together. That was until I found out I had to move."
Nina was just about to say something with Mila walked up to them with a small basket full of stuff. Andy chuckled and looked up at Lynn. She bashfully showed her small basket too and Andy let out a full laugh.
"Wow! Wanna buy the whole store?" Andy asked smiling at them both.
"Is this okay?" Mila asked looking up at Andy. She smiled and bent down to look at her basket.
"It's more than okay. Is there anything else you want?"
"Umm......"
Andy smiled, "Go ahead. You too. Go! I know you want more." She said to Lynn. Her wife kissed her briefly and took Mila's hand. The two were off again and Andy turned back to Nina.
"Look, I have more than enough to help you out. Take me on as a partner Nina, let me help."
"I don't know Andy you're about to start this whole new life. I'm not sure. What's Lynn going to think about-"
"What am I gonna think about?" Lynn asked coming up to them. Andy let out a sigh and gave her a smile.
"We'll talk at dinner. So what did you two get?" Andy said with a smile.
**********************************************************************************
"So would you be like a silent partner?" Lynn asked taking a sip of her drink.
Andy shrugged, "I wouldn't be silent. I want to be a partner. That store means a lot to me and Nina is an old friend. Her parents were there for me when I was going through some rough times. When I couldn't tell my parents things they were there to help me through it." She told her as she sat back in her seat.
"It's a really cool shop. I think you should let her do it." Mila said taking a bite of her food and smiled at Lynn.
Lynn smiled and shook her head, then looked back at Andy, "Do you really want to do this?"
Andy leaned forward using her arms to rest on. She placed her hand on her chin looking at Lynn, "If it's going to upset you in anyway, I won't do it."
"But how upset are you going to be if you don't?" Lynn asked reflecting Andy's posture.
Andy sighed and gave her a small smile. She could feel Lynn's foot against her leg, "I would be really upset knowing that I'm able to help a friend, but I can't."
"How much is your part gonna be?"
Andy shrugged, "That would have to be a conversation we would have to have before we leave. You can be a part of that conversation too."
Lynn nodded, "Okay, we'll get in touch with her before we leave. But a contract needs to be drawn up to ensure everything. Maybe Clark could draw up something when we get back to the States."
"I knew I fell in love with you for a reason." Andy said with a smile and took Lynn's hand in hers.
"Mama, can you explain all these crystals and stones?!" Mila said looking at Andy with an exciting look. Andy smiled and gave Lynn a wink.
"Let's see what you got kiddo." Andy said with a smile. Mila let out a small squeal and pulled out her bag from the store and started to take out everything she got from there.
Lynn smiled watching the two of them interact. She was also listening to Andy explain what each stone or crystal does. She didn't know Andy was so insightful when it came to things like this. She wanted to know more. She took out her phone and took a picture of the two of them. This felt right to her, it really did. She never knew she could use a piece of mind until now.
Just being able to know where Andy spent most of her childhood as well as getting to know a whole another side of her. Was just a start of a lifetime together. She was brought out of her thoughts seeing Andy's phone light up.
She looked at it seeing Serenity's name. After a few moments she noticed that Andy had eight missed calls from her. Andy did say she wasn't going to be taking any work calls. Lynn told her she would believe when she saw it. A smile came across her face again knowing that Andy was true to her word.
She saw Andy's phone go off again and noticed it was a text message from a number that wasn't saved into her phone. There were about ten text messages from that number. Apparently Andy hasn't been responding to them. She picked up Andy's phone wanting to know what they said.
Andy always said that Lynn was welcome to go through her phone at anytime. She even added Lynn's fingerprint to unlock her phone if need be. When Lynn unlocked it she looked at the text messages and they were all saying that they couldn't wait to work with her. They were excited about the reboot of a show, or that they just wanted to get together and go over the scripts. There were even texts messages from Serenity telling her to call back as soon as possible.
Lynn's heart started to pound and she also started to have knots in her stomach. But those feelings were brief because it seemed like Andy wasn't even responding to these texts. She checked the dates and smiled seeing that they started when they were at Okuma. She thought about bringing up to her later, but she wasn't sure. Andy would have told her about this by now. But since she didn't answer them, she knew that it was because she was spending time with her family.
She was brought out of her thoughts hearing her name being said. She looked up seeing Andy smiling at her. "I'm sorry what?"
"Is my phone that interesting?" Andy asked with a smile nodding towards her phone in Lynn's hand.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I saw that Serenity called and it seems like she's been trying to get a hold of you this entire time. Also you have so many texts from this one number that you haven't even opened. I just got curious I guess."
"I told you before, you're more than welcome to my phone. I even told you I wasn't going to take any work calls, or texts. Serenity means work calls. Haven't even listened to my voicemails yet. Babe, whatever those text messages say, they can wait until AFTER we get settled in Boston. When we get back it's gonna be a lot. From moving, Milia adjusting, Thanksgiving, London, Christmas, New Years. We still have a lot going on.
We need to relax before we go back to our hectic lives. The album is almost done and you'll be back on the road again. Plus the twins will be here before we know it. Before everything, I wanted this vacation to be about relaxing and just enjoying a nice place for a while."
Lynn sighed and smiled shaking her head, "Seriously?! You and your words are just ugh! How do you do that?"
Andy shrugged, "You should see me on paper." She told her with a smug look.
Mila was looking between them and just smiled, "How are you two not fighting right now?" she asked.
Andy and Lynn chuckled looking at her. Andy cleared her throat looking at Mila, "I guess you could say after spending four days and nights in a hotel room in Ireland just fighting, we got it all out. Don't get me wrong I feel like we may have a few more. Relationships aren't perfect, they take work."
"Also compromise, and to not always push each other to talk. We talk it out now. Like I told you earlier today we're still opening up to each other. We know when to leave each other alone until we're ready to talk." Lynn told her.
"Wow, you two, I swear are just perfect. By the way, can we come back here again?! This fried rice is amazing and the bowl is so huge!" Mila said.
Andy chuckled, "Ah, The Dragon, can never go wrong with this place. Me and my family would come here almost every Friday. I mostly wanted to come because the tea was so good. I wouldn't mind coming back a couple more times."
"I wouldn't mind. Now, what's next?" Lynn asked looking at Andy with a smile.
"Well, if you two aren't too full, how do you feel about root beer floats?" Andy asked signing the credit card slip.
"We can get root beer floats anywhere though." Lynn said looking at Andy with a confused look.
Andy nodded, "This is true, but have you had a root beer float from an A&W in another country. Totally different. From the taste to the color to the experience. Just how lunch was today. Sure we have those back home, but just seeing and experiencing everything is just different." She started to gather up the dishes and napkins, putting them in a nice pile.
"Why do you do that?" Mila asked.
"It helps out the server. Instead of them going all over the table to clean it up, just put everything together. One, they can just take the pile in one trip to the dish area. Two, it'll be easier to clean the table instead of having to run back and forth multiple times." Andy explained.
"Plus she's worked in the restaurant industry for ten years." Lynn added with a smirk.
Andy shrugged and smiled, "Say what you will, but working in an industry like that you need to have tough skin." She said getting up and held out her hand for Lynn to take. She took her hand and they waited for Mila to join them.
Andy bowed and thanked their server in Japanese and smiled at her. The young woman smiled and thanked them as well. The three walked out of the restaurant and back to their car. Andy opened the door for both of them.
"Why do you do this every time?" Mila asked.
Lynn smiled, "Trust me, I'm still getting used to it." She kissed Andy on her cheek before getting into the car. Andy smiled as the two got into the car and she closed their doors. She rushed over to the driver side. Once she was settled she started the car and drove off from the parking lot.
"To answer your question Mila, when I came out to my parents, about a week later my dad told me to always treat women with respect. Make them feel like they're on top of the world no matter what. Try not to make her angry, and always try to make her happy. Do the little things to keep her around and not only tell her that you love her, but also show it." Andy explained.
Lynn turned in her seat to look at Mila and smiled, "When you do decide to get into a relationship, you want to make sure you can trust them. Sometimes your gut is stronger than your heart. When I met Andy I listened to my gut a lot more than I did my heart. I'm sure you've seen all those scandals a couple years back?"
Mila nodded, "Yeah, I was actually really upset that someone was trying to break you two up."
"Trust me kiddo so was I." Andy said as she turned down the street.
"Anyway, there's still some people out there that don't want Andy and I together. But we push through that. Sure a picture will get around and they'll make up a story. But what matters is our truth. What we know about each other, and how we feel about each other. I learned the hard way not to believe every picture out there. I learned to not jump to conclusions so quickly and to listen first before deciding what I wanted to do." Lynn placed her hand on top of Andy's thigh.
Andy smiled and took her hand in hers giving it a gentle squeeze. She pulled into the parking lot and found a parking spot. She parked the car and took off her seatbelt.
"Okay, so we can order and eat in the car, or we can eat at the picnic tables right there. What do y'all want to do?"
Mila looked out of the car window and smiled, "There's a bench on that hill right there. We can watch the sunset."
Both Andy and Lynn looked out of the car window and smiled. They looked at each other and nodded, "Good eye kiddo. Let's go get some dessert." Andy turned off the car and they all got out.
Andy walked up to the window and started to place their order. Lynn and Mila sat down at one of the tables and began to talk about their favorite parts of the trip.
"Do we really have to leave next week?" Mila asked.
"Unfortunately we do. We have to unpack, introduce you to your teachers, get ready for Thanksgiving. Which by the way is Andy's favorite holiday. Then, we have to go to London for Andy. She's nominated for a few things. After that Christmas, New Years camp out, and then, we are releasing our new album."
"That's a lot to do." Mila said softly and Lynn nodded as Andy walked over to them and smiled. She sat next to Lynn and put her arm around her waist. She kissed her temple and looked back at Mila.
"So what was your favorite part?" Andy asked with a smile.
"Honestly getting to know who you were when you were a kid."
"Really?" Andy asked, raising her eyebrows.
Mila nodded, "Yeah! I never knew my real parents so I never got the chance. But getting to know you has been a whirlwind. I love it. I can't wait to see Mom's hometown when we go back. But I also don't want to leave this place."
Andy chuckled, "We can always come back. It's not like we can't. I'm sure we can always work something out."
Just then, someone brought out their root beer floats and Andy said thank you in Japanese and gave their server a small bow. She bowed too and said in English for them to enjoy.
"I already paid, come on let's go check out that sunset." They all stood up and grabbed their floats. Andy led the way towards the bench Mila pointed out. Once they reached the bench Andy gestured for them to sit down. The two did and Andy couldn't resist this picture perfect moment. She took a few steps and ended up behind them. She took out her small digital camera and held it steady.
The sun was just right and Lynn turned her head at the right moment to look at Mila who was looking at her. She watched as Lynn leaned in and kissed Mila's forehead and that's when Andy snapped the picture. She smiled and told herself she was going to frame it and put in on the mantle once they got home.
She put the camera in her pocket and went around and joined them. She sat on the other side of Mila and smiled. This was home. Wherever these two would be that's where she wanted to be. Home was where ever they were.

"Okay I think that's the last of it." Andy said carrying the last box from the moving truck into the townhouse. She set the box down by the stairs and looked around and smiled. The owners said that she could keep everything if she wanted to, but after talking with Lynn they decided to make the place their own.
Once they got back from Okinawa, they slightly changed their plans. Lynn came back so she and Cathy could start house shopping, Andy and Mila went back to Virginia Beach to pack up the rest of their things.
With the help of Andy's dad she was able to get a good deal on a moving truck. Andy made her rounds and said her final goodbyes to everyone. Then, she and Mila were off to Boston. They had to stop a few times so Andy could get some sleep, bathroom breaks, and of course they had to eat at some point.
When they finally made it Lynn and Ethan were waiting for them at the townhouse and welcomed them with open arms. Andy told them they should start unloading before it got too dark. Ethan chuckled and shook his head. Told her that she always had to be on some sort of schedule. Andy punched him in the arm and the two started to unload the truck.
Lynn said that Brian, Alex, David, and Justin would be there soon to help out. She wanted to take Mila to see Angel, Lauren, Wendy, Kara, and Kim. She figured they could have some girl time. They would be back in time for dinner.
They parted ways and now here Andy was with the guys unpacking and getting things set in her new home.
"Hey, did you ever get back to Serenity?" Brian asked opening a box.
"Not yet. She blew up my phone while I was in Okinawa. When I landed I listened to all the voicemails, read all the texts, but I decided I'm not going to get back to her until after Thanksgiving. Got a lot to do before we head back down to Virginia." Andy explained putting away some kitchenware.
"Well you might want to tell her that." Alex said walking into the kitchen with Serenity close behind.
"Andrea we need to talk NOW!" She said and Andy just looked at every one. They shrugged their shoulders and she looked at her agent and just nodded. She started to walk towards her as she gave Ethan a look. He just nodded and waited until the two were out of the kitchen. He pulled out his phone and sent a quick text to Lynn. Out of the corner of his eye he caught a flash of blonde hair and he turned to look.
"Um, who the fuck is that?!" He whispered to the guys.
They all looked at him and shook their heads. Without missing a beat, they all had their phones out and were either calling or texting someone. If she was here with Serenity that could only mean one thing, and they knew they had to get ahead of it.
**************************************************************
"Do you all do this every day?!" Mila asked as she was looking for a shade of nail polish.
Angel chuckled, "Not everyday. But when one of us comes back from a trip we all meet up and have a girls day. We talk about the trip and what we've been up to while that person was away."
"It's very relaxing and plus my sister isn't into this kind of stuff. By the way, Lynn, she's behind on the PostSeason, so just watch out." Wendy explained.
"Oh trust me I know. On the way back she was looking up the scores and game times. I think I heard her cuss under her breath a few times. I know the Braves are in it. I think they won game three and they're moving on to the next round." Lynn said shaking her head.
"She ignores football until the PostSeason is over." Wendy whispered to Mila with a smile.
"She's THAT into sports?" Mila asked and the women nodded their heads.
"Wait until the Olympics and the Soccer World Cup. She goes crazy!" Angel said.
"Hey have you guys checked your phones?" Lauren asked looking at hers. They all shook their heads and looked at her with confused looks.
"I think you should. Justin just texted me saying that Serenity is at the house with a girl and they're talking to Andy alone. According to him this girl is very good looking." She told them but she was looking at Lynn.
"Okay and? I mean no matter how good looking a girl is Andy ONLY has eyes for Lynn. I mean come on! Have you SEEN the way she looks at her?!" Kim said with a wink at Lynn.
"But still we should check it out. David just sent me a text too and he's called me like four times. If it's another one of those ex things we should go and get ahead of it. Wendy this will be good training for you." Kara finished with a smile.
"What about dinner? We have reservations for everyone at L'Bella." Kim said.
Lynn sighed and shook her head, "Let's see what's going on first. I want to see who this girl is. Serenity knew Andy would be here today. She has Andy's full schedule. Shey's back on duty since it's November and I'm sure Serenity won't have her work with Andy for a while if there's this new person."
"You're right, we're almost done here and once we are we can all go over there and judge this girl." Angel said with a glint in her eye and a mischievous smile.
Lynn shook her head, "Okay, but YOU!" she said pointing at Angel, "Have to be on your best behavior in front of Serenity."
"I'm so offended that you think I wouldn't be!" Angel said pretending to be shocked. They all laughed and Lynn just rolled her eyes.
"I'm serious. I'm not sure what's going on, but Serenity was calling and texting Andy the entire time we were in Okinawa. But she never answered her back. I guess Serenity was fed up, which is weird because she knew we would be out of the country for a while. Also, she knew Andy has a lot going on. I highly doubt the big guys would have sent her." Lynn finished looking at Kara.
"It all depends on what kind of job it is. Example for you guys, if it's a big booking like Madison Square Garden, or Red Rocks, Melissa would be on Erika's ass, then on my ass, to get to you guys to tell you about it." Kara explained.
"Yeah, but you, Erika, AND Melissa would be blowing up our phones. It was just Serenity and this other number." Lynn told her.
"Wait, what other number?" Kim asked.
Lynn sighed, "I looked through Andy's phone one night at dinner because it just wouldn't stop. I saw the text messages from Serenity telling her to call back as soon as possible. Then, I saw this number that texted her saying that they couldn't wait to work with her. It wasn't just once either. Some of them even had the hearts and the kissing face."
"OH HELL NO! We're going over there right now!" Angel said standing up.
"Okay wait calm down. We don't even know if it was this girl." Lauren said.
Mila's nails were done and she was sitting in the chair watching everything unfold. She couldn't believe what she was seeing and hearing. This was really different and she loved every minute of it. It was like she was in some sort of movie or TV show. She wasn't sure, but she just didn't want it to end.
"First of all Lynn, you can't get too stressed out. Remember you're pregnant." Wendy reminded her.
"I know, I know. Dr. Samson isn't going to be here for a while, but she gave me a list of all the doctors that she trusts. So I need to see which one is around here. Plus Andy's in full on research mode of what I can and can't eat. Can't drink or drink. It's kind of annoying yet adorable." She finished with a smile.
"Okay, so are we going or not? I need to see who this person is." Angel said walking up to the cashier and paying for everyone before they could protest.
"So much for getting pedicures today. But this is more important. I can't wait to see the look on this girl's face when you roll up." Angel said with a smirk.
Lynn rolled her eyes at her best friend and just chuckled. When they were all done they left the shop and started to walk down the street towards the townhouse. Lynn took Mila's hand and smiled.
"Is everything going to be okay?" Mila asked with a worried voice.
Lynn smiled and put her arm around her, "I'm not sure, but what I do know is that Andy and I always work it out. If you want you can stay with Ethan and Alex tonight. I'm sure they wouldn't mind."
Mila nodded, "I love Ethan. He was so nice to me at your wedding."
Lynn smiled, "Okay once we get home, we can pack you an overnight bag and after dinner you can stay with them."
"I can't wait." Mila said with a smile.
*****************************************************************************************
Andy shook her head and crossed her arms. She couldn't believe what she just heard. She started to look around the townhouse not wanting to make eye contact with Serenity or Alexz. She really had to talk about this with Lynn. There was something about Alexz that she didn't like. She didn't have to talk to Lynn about this, she had already made up her mind.
She just moved to Boston and she really didn't want to move again. Let alone to another country. She was tired of moving, tired of traveling. She wanted to make Boston her permanent home and build her life with Lynn here.
"You want to talk it over with Lynn." Serenity said with a sigh.
"I don't have to. I just started to get settled here. I can't pick up and leave again. This is my home now. I'm NOT leaving it. Not when it's just getting started. We're building our life here and our family." Andy explained finishing with a shake of her head.
"But you can't pass up this opportunity. I mean, it's going to be the role of a lifetime." Alexz said standing up walking over to Andy and putting her hand on her arm.
Andy shrugged her off and shook her head, "I already have the role of a lifetime and I don't plan to give it up any time soon." She took a step back from Alexz just as the door opened. Andy didn't have to wait to see who it was. She rushed over and smiled seeing Lynn and Mila. Without a word she just wrapped her arms around the two and held them close.
"Hey babe, what's going on?" Lynn asked as she pulled away from Andy.
Serenity and Alexz walked up to them and Serenity looked at Andy, "At least think about it?"
Andy shook her head, "No, I don't have to. The answer is no. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to pass it up."
Serenity nodded and sighed. She smiled at Lynn and gave her a quick hug. She told Andy they would be in touch and she left with Alexz following behind her. Once they were outside Serenity gave Alexz a small smile.
"I'm sorry you had to fly all the way here for a no. I don't think she's going to change her mind any time soon." She told the young woman opening the car door for her.
"If I were to make it closer to her home would she reconsider?" Alexz asked getting into the car with Serenity behind her.
"I wouldn't know. You could try, but I'm not exactly sure."
"Let me make some calls. I know my people really want to do this reboot and they want Andy part of it. They're not going to take no for an answer." Alexz told her as she pulled out her cell phone and started to make calls.
Meanwhile back inside Andy gathered everyone in the living room and she sighed. She stood in front of the fireplace and let out a long breath. She rubbed the back of her neck and finally looked at everyone.
"Okay, so I was offered a role in reboot of a show that I used to watch when I was a teenager. That girl that was here was the main actress in the show. I turned it down." She told them and everyone started to talk at once.
She held up her hands and tried to calm them down, "Hey, hey, hey, calm down, there's a reason why I turned them down."
"What's the reason for passing up something so great?!" Ethan asked.
Andy sighed and looked at him, "Because I would have to leave for Montreal, and I would have to stay there for almost a year."
"Let's say you did take it. When would you leave?" David asked.
"By the end of the week." Andy answered and once again everyone started to talk at once.
"GUYS! GUYS! GUYS! You see why I turned them down. My life is here now with my family. With my wife, my daughter, and our twins. I'm not leaving again. Not when we're settling down and Lynn, Brian, Alex, and Justin are going on tour soon once the album is out. No, I'm not moving anywhere. This time I'm going wherever my girls go." Andy said with a smile looking at Lynn and Mila.
Lynn smiled walking up to Andy and gently touched her cheek, "I love you so much. But I'm scared if this comes up again you're going to take it."
"If it means being away from you again, I'm not going to. Leaving you the first time was hard enough. I don't think I can do it again." Andy said softly.
"I love you both, and Andy I'm glad you're staying, but I'm starving. What's for dinner?" Alex asked and everyone just laughed.
"Back at it again are we?" Brian asked with a joking tone.
Andy shook her head and gave Lynn a quick kiss on her lips and turned to Mila. The young girl just rushed up to them and gave them both a hug. Everyone was talking amongst them and Alex started to get irritated.
"Are we eating or not?!" He almost yelled and everyone stopped talking to look at him with confused looks.
"I'm sorry, but we've been moving boxes and unpacking. I'm starving! It feels like my stomach is eating my spine. So I'm going to ask again, what are we doing for dinner?" He took a breath as Ethan came up to him and kissed his temple.
"Okay then, we might just be able to make our reservation after all." Kim said with a smile.
Alex perked up, "Where?!"
Everyone laughed as Kim told him where they were going. Without another word he was out of the door. The group laughed again and started to head out. Andy grabbed Lynn's hand and gently pulled her closer.
"There's something I need to tell you." Andy said.
Lynn knew she was worried about something because Andy tends to look around when she can't find the words to say. She took hold of Andy's face until she was able to make eye contact with her.
"Baby, what is it?"
Andy cleared her throat and looked up at Lynn, "There's something about Alexz. When she touched my arm I got this creepy chill. If they offer this gig to me again, something is telling me to say no again."
Lynn nodded, "Okay, well then say no. If there's something you don't like about her maybe that's a sign to not take the job at all."
"Also the way she was looking at me made me feel uncomfortable. Like she wanted me or something." Andy shivered at the thought.
"I just thought I should tell you."
Lynn smiled and kissed Andy's forehead, "Thank you for being honest with me. If she's ever around I'm sure you and I can handle things like we always do. Now, come on, let's get something to eat. We still have a lot of stuff to do before we have to head down to Virginia."
Andy nodded, "You're right," she let out a long sigh and smiled, "What would I do without you?"
Lynn smiled and just softly kissed Andy's lips. That question she still didn't know the answer to. But someday soon she hoped to find it.
************************************************************
"So are you able to do it? Andy is not on board right now, and we need her to be. I don't care what the cost is. I want this to happen and I want this to happen with Andy. This reboot is not happening unless we get Andy. She's the hottest thing out there right now and I want her to be part of this." Alexz said into her cell phone pacing back and forth in her hotel room.
After a few moments of listening to the person on the other line she shook her head and let out a scoff, "You have to do better than that! You want this to work, I want Andy! Make that happen!" She hung up her cell phone and flopped onto her bed letting out a scream into her pillow.
She heard her phone go off and she jumped up not even looking at the number, "Andy?" she asked into her phone.
"No, it's Tim. What's this about you wanting to reboot the show?"
Alexz rolled her eyes and turned on her back, "I just feel like the fans didn't really get closure with the mini webisodes we did."
"Okay? Why am I just now hearing about this? You would think I would be the first person you called about this."
Alexz scoffed, "Well, I'm sorry, but you're off shooting like four other shows. How was I to know you had some free time."
"Come Alexz, you know I would love to do the reboot. I've been wanting to do one myself. I just didn't think anyone would want to do it."
"Look, Tim, I wasn't planning on putting you in the reboot." Alexz said closing her eyes and holding her phone away from her ear when she heard shouting coming from the other side.
She looked up at the ceiling and let out a breath, this was going to be a long night. That last thing she wanted was to listen to Tim bitch. She saw a notification on her phone and she tapped on it all the while ignoring Tim's rant.
Someone posted a picture of Andy with her friends. She looked up the location and smirked. This was her chance to try to convince Andy. She hung up on Tim and got up from the bed. She grabbed her coat and rushed out of her hotel room. She didn't care if she was going to interrupt their dinner. She had to convince Andy to do the show.
The next thing she knew she found herself in a taxi on the way to the restaurant. About fifteen minutes later she arrived. She paid the driver and got out. Not bothering to see if it was busy she walked right in and smiled at the young hostess. She asked for a table for one as she looked around trying to see if she could spot Andy anywhere.
"I'm sorry but has any big parties sat down in the last few minutes or so?" Alexz asked.
The young woman smiled, "Are you looking for someone? If you are, you're free to look around."
Alexz smiled and nodded. She walked away and started to look around the restaurant, trying to find Andy. She heard laughter coming from the back and slowly made her way towards the room, only to be stopped by someone.
"I'm sorry Miss, but this is a private party." He said with a smile.
"Oh, okay, I'm actually part of that party. I'm just a little late." She said with a nervous chuckle.
The young man gave her a skeptical look and was about to ask her who she was when Andy came walking up to them and he smiled at her. He stepped aside so let her in as Alexz started to call her name, but Andy didn't turn around.
Just then Lynn peaked around the corner and looked to see who was calling her wife's name. She disappeared for a moment then called to the young man. He excused himself and walked into the room. After a few moments he came back out and gave her a forced smile.
"I'm sorry Miss, but this party already has everyone in the party present. I suggest you ask the hostess for table and have a nice dinner."
"No, you don't understand, it's a work thing. I just need to pass a message along." She tried to get through, but he stopped her again.
"I can deliver the message ma'am."
"No, I insist. I really need to get this message to them." She tried to push her way through again only for him to stop her again.
"Miss, if you try to get through again I'm going to have to ask you to leave. People are starting to look at you and I'm sure you don't want to cause a scene."
Alexz was just about to say something when Kara came out of the back crossing her arms. She stood next to the young man and looked at Alexz.
"I suggest you listen to him. I don't know what you're trying to pull, but they've been through enough. The last thing they need is more drama. You already know Andy's answer. Now drop it and go home. Just so you know Andy won't change her mind. Now go before I call your agent." Kara said standing her ground.
Alexz to a step closer to Kara trying to tower over her, "I will have Andy do this reboot. Just you wait."
Kara scoffed watching Alexz storm off. She shook her head and took out her cell phone from her pocket, "Thank you George."
"No problem Miss. There was something about her I didn't like. She seems like trouble." He said straightening out his tie.
"You have no idea." She put her cell phone up to her ear and waited. After a few rings she heard a voice.
"Hey, Mike, we need to talk about Alexz. Yes that one. You need to keep her away from Andy. Otherwise I will be taking action. Get your girl or I will!" She hung up and sighed.
"Everything okay?" Andy asked coming towards her.
Kara nodded, "Yeah, you didn't see her standing here when you came back from the bathroom?"
Andy shook her head, "To be honest I just had tunnel vision. I wanted to get back before the food got here. Hey, we also promised no work tonight! Come on let's go. It's funny teasing Alex about food right now."
"Okay, I'll be right in. I just have to clear my head for a second." Andy gave her a glance and she smiled.
"I'm fine, I promise, it's just a work thing." Kara said giving Andy's arm a gentle squeeze. Andy squinted her eyes at her.
"Oookkkaayy if you say sooo." She kissed her forehead and walked back to the room. Kara sighed as she watched her. She really hoped that Alexz would leave her alone. She's heard stories about Alexz and they were not good. First thing tomorrow morning she was calling Melissa. If anyone could get through to Mike it would be her. She just hoped she wasn't too late.
