Ok, so this is short, but I figured I didn’t wanna leave y’all hanging for so long this time around. Plus, this feels like a good way to close that part and move to the next one. (I know, that only makes sense to me ‘cause I know what’s coming up. lol) anyway! Enjoy.

“Well, that pizza was awesome,” Carrie tossed her crust onto her plate.
“I’m stuffed,” Kelly agreed, reaching for her drink. “So, what game shall we play?”
Jill and Kate looked at each other and smirked knowingly. “Right, Kel, like we don’t know,” Jill shook her head.
“Ok,” Kelly got up to search her bag. “Scrabble, it is!”
Carrie made a face. “Nerd,” she teased her girlfriend.
Kelly scoffed. “You haven’t seen nothing yet. Prepare to lose, Underwood!”
Carrie got up and cornered the Texan against the wall with a daring grin. “Oh, really?”
Kelly’s eyes grew wide at the mischievous twinkle looking back at her. “You can’t do that,” she whispered so only the blonde could hear her. “That is cheating.”
Kate coughed loudly, making both turn to look at her. “Sorry,” she apologized bringing a fist to her mouth. “I’ve been wanting to cough for a while.”
“Right,” Jill chuckled. “So, will you to get back to the game already? Or should we be leaving….” She wiggled her eyebrows.
The girls laughed. “NO,” Carrie replied as she took the game from Kelly’s hands and brought it to the coffee table. “Let’s get this game on the road. I’ve got a Texan ass to kick!” She opened the box for everyone to start getting their tiles.
“Well,” Kate reached for hers. “Good luck with that. It’s huge!”
“Hey,” Kelly whined, sitting next to Carrie and directly in front of Kate.
“Aww, poor baby,” Carrie reached and wrapped her arm around her shoulders giving her a gentle squeeze.
“Thanks,” Kelly beamed. “Now before we make them pass out from a sugar coma, let’s get started.”
After a few rounds, the score was to be expected with Kelly leading and Carrie a close second. The biggest word so far had been “rhythm.” Carrie chuckled when she saw the Texan play it. Leave it to Kelly to find a way to tie music into it.
“Hmm,” Carrie looked over the board carefully before placing her tiles. She smiled victoriously as she looked at the board.
Kelly snorted, ”Quixotic?”
“What?” Carrie crossed her arms across her chest. “It’s a word.”
“Oh, I know. Just didn’t expect that.”
Kate added the scores, the shock evident in her face. “Oh, wow.”
“What,” Kelly turned to face her.
“She won,” she answered, the surprise evident in her voice.
“No way,” Jill chimed in, taking the pad from Kate and reviewing the math. “Shit. She did.”
Carrie’s smile grew huge as she realized the managed what Jill and Kate had made seem quite impossible.
Kelly’s smile softened. “Well, awesome. It’s about time someone who can keep up.”
“Hey,” Kate raised her hand. “I never said I was a great speller…”
Both Jill and Kelly shared a laugh. “Right, Miss Paula…COLE!” Kelly reached across the table to give Jill a fist bump.
“Whatever,” Kate placed her hand on her hip as she stood up to get a drink from the mini-fridge. “Cole is so a word. It’s a plant! I googled it…”
Her defense only made Jill and Kelly laugh even more. Carrie, unaware of the joke, looked at them with a curious look. Kelly took notice. “Sorry.”
“Oh, don’t be,” the blonde shook her head. “It’s funny.”
“So, do y’all wanna play again? Kelly asked hopefully.
“Um,” Kate stifled a yawn. “Love ya, Kel, but I don’t think I can sit through another one.”
“Yeah,” Jill agreed. “I’ve been punished enough.”
“Fair enough,” the Texan smiled. She glanced at the alarm clock on the nightstand. It was getting close to midnight. “And, actually,” she turned back to face them. “I probably should get to bed. We start at 9 tomorrow.”
Kate and Jill shared a knowing look as they stood up. “Sure,” the New Englander teased.
Kelly loved her backup singers. They were really her closest friends out on the road. The fact that they were teasing her as the always did made her smile. “Fine,” she fessed up. “Maybe I do want some alone time…”
Carrie blushed slightly. She was still adapting to the group dynamics and being the center of the joke was a tad embarrassing. She decided to get past it, and play along. “Speak for yourself,” she patted Kelly’s shoulder. “I’m going to my room,” she stood from the couch.
“Oooh, snap!” Jill and Kate yelled out. The three girls laughed at Kelly’s huge pout.
“What?”the Texan asked, the disappointment plainly obvious.
Carrie couldn’t take the look in her girl’s face. “Ok, you know I’m kidding,” she reached over to take Kelly’s hand and helped her up.
“Good,” Kelly willingly gave her hand to Carrie and pulled her into a hug once she was standing.
Kate turned to Jill as they looked at each other. “Well, Jill, suddenly the words third and wheel are coming to mind.”
“Yeah…so am I the fourth wheel?”
“Aw,” Kelly pulled away from the embrace, but still keeping her arm around Carrie’s waist. “Sorry, y’all. Didn’t mean to make y’all feel awkward.”
“It’s not,” Jill waved her hand. “Different, KC, just different.”
“Alright. Well, I think I speak on behalf of both of us,” she glanced from Carrie back to her friends. “When I say, thanks. The fact that this doesn’t phase y’all make it that much better for me. Well, us.”
“Well,” Kate eyed Carrie. “You definitely could’ve done worse.”
Jill faked a cough, “Lindsay.” The four of them had to laugh.
“On that note,” the girls started walking towards the door. “See y’all in the morning?”
“Yeah,” Kelly nodded. She closed the door behind them as she turned to Carrie. “So,” she subconsciously licked her bottom lip. “Ready for bed?”
Carrie grinned. “Always,” she replied, leaning into Kelly for a searing kiss.
