Bam

I paced the room nervously. I could hear Ville talking to Ilta by the front door. She’d arrived alone, thank god. I’d hate for her parents to regonise me, they hadn’t seen me since she was a baby. I cut off all contact with them, it was just too hard, seeing her beautiful face everyday. Seeing my eyes nestled in her perfect face, shinning up at me. A reminder of all that I’d lost.

“Ok Willa, see you later,” a voice called out. Ilta! I stopped pacing and looked towards the front door. I heard Ville shout his goodbyes as she entered the room. She was beautiful! She looked like a combination of me and April! April’s face, my eyes and my dark curls, which bounced around her shoulders. “Lily!” She cried out. Lily was her god mother. Jonne and Ryan had named her as such after Ilta’s adoption. They did it too cheer her up after her hamster got eaten by her neighbor’s cat.
“Ilta!” Lily cried out as she stood up. Ilta threw herself into Lily’s arms, and Lily spun her round and round. “I’ve missed you darling,” She whispered, as she held Ilta close.
“I missed you too,” Ilta replied, holding Lily tight. After a few seconds, Lily put her down, and she turned to face me. Her eyes meet mine, and I shivered nervously. The last 7 years had been the worst of my life, but now they didn’t seem to matter. All that mattered was my daughter, my Elle April Margera. “Hello, who are you?” She asked as she beamed up at me. I heard Lily gasp lightly, but I ignored it.
“I’m Bam, I’m a friend of Ville’s,” I said with a smile, offering her my hand as Lily coughed back a laugh. Again I ignored her, and just savored the moment as Elle’s fingers clasped my own for the first time in years.
“Hello Bam, I’m Ilta!” She said, shaking my hand, before giving me a hug. I hugged her back, held her tight, and breathed in her warm, beautiful scent.
“Nice to meet you babe,” I whispered as I let her go. She ran to Lily and grabbed her hand.
“Lily, come on, lets play!” She cried as she dragged Lily into her room. Lily laughed along with her, and shut the door behind them. I went and stood at the door, and listened to the sound of my daughter’s laughter. It warmed me to my very core, and I couldn’t help but smile. After a while, I heard Lily ask Elle if she wanted lunch, and so ran from the door quickly. They came out a few seconds later, both bent double with laughter.
“Bam can I make some food please?” Lily asked all her insecurities of the night before gone. I nodded.
“Make me some too,” I called out as they headed into the kitchen. I heard Lily sigh, but I laughed it off. A few minutes later, they returned with plates of scrambled eggs on toast. “Hey! Mine’s burt!” I cried as Elle handed mine over, and the two girls screamed with laughter. I grinned, happy to see my Elle laugh, and ate the food as it was, not even noticing the burnt taste. As I finished I heard the front door open.

“Hey dad!” Lily cried, and ran to meet him. I heard them embrace, before Lily asked her father ‘What’s wrong?” Ville didn’t reply, instead, he came running into the living room, his eyes frantic.
“Ilta! Where is she?” he cried, looking around.
“BOO!” She cried, as she jumped up from behind the sofa with a giggle. Ville smiled slightly, but sighed in relief.
“There you are darling,” He said, as he picked her up and held her close.
“Relax, I didn’t do anything to her!” I called out. Ville shook his head as he placed Elle on her feet.
“Its not that, Bam, come here for a minute,” He said as he gestured for me to come over.
“Ok,” I said, confused. When I reached him, he stood me next to Elle, before looking us both in the eyes. Shit! “What?” I asked, pretending to be confused.
“She’s yours!” Ville cried out. “Your eyes, they’re the same!” Lily gasped, and ran to stand beside her father.
“You’re right!” She cried, after she got a good look at us both. “But how? Tink and Ryan adopted Lily when she was just a baby!” Lily said, shaking her head.
“Bam? Is it true, is she yours?” Ville asked. I bit my lip, looked from Elle’s face to Ville’s. I nodded.
“She’s mine. My baby. My Elle.” I Whispered, and I collapsed in tears. Before anyone could say or do anything else there was a knock on the door.
“Hey we’re back!” came Jonne’s voice. And everybody froze.
