"Hey," Kelly took a step back in surprise when she walked into the kitchen and found Jill in there, fixing herself something to eat.
"Hey," Jill replied. "Didn't think I'd see you up so early."
"I was coming get a bottle of water for Kate. She's gonna need it when she wakes up."
Jill nodded, watching her curiously.
"So, um, is she always like that when she's drunk?"
"Like what?"
"You know..."
"Horny?" Jill offered.
"Yea," Kelly blushed slightly.
"Um...she does tend to get a lot more flirtatious when she's drunk, but I've never seen her as bad as she was last night, no."
Kelly nodded.
"Did you two have fun after we left?"
"We went to bed right after y'all."
"Really?"
"Yea. Why?"
"I don't know...from the looks of things, I wouldn't have been surprised if you two went at it right there in the hot tub as soon as we were gone."
"Yea, Kate was really drunk."
"She's definitely a light weight."
"You could've warned me."
"Didn't seem like you minded last night."
Kelly gave a short laugh.
Jill studied her closely, "You really didn't do anything."
"No," she sighed.
"She was seriously all over you, I mean, I was waiting for you to come down this morning with a hickey or two on your neck from the way she was going at it when we were leaving...and you didn't do anything."
"I fucked up majorly, didn't I?"
Jill laughed softly.
"I mean, that was probably my one chance to be with the girl, but no, I had to go and grow a conscience all of a sudden. I just didn't want to ruin things, you know? I mean, she would've freaked when she woke up."
"Eh..." Jill shrugged.
"What?"
"There's about a ninety percent chance that she won't even remember most of last night."
"Are you kidding me?"
Jill shook her head, "I've seen her be less drunk and still not remember."
"Why do I have to be a good person?" Kelly groaned. "Why can't I be a whore?"
"You know you would've told her."
"How do you know?"
"Because you're a good person," Jill smiled. "And because you are ridiculously honest with her. Like seriously, I'd never admit to half of the stuff that you do to a girl I liked."
"You're the one that told me to keep being honest with her."
"And if I hadn't, would you have stopped?"
"No," she shook her head. "I don't think this, whatever the hell it is, would work if we stopped being completely honest."
"We?"
"She and I?"
"After last night, do you really think she's been completely honest with you?"
"What do you mean?"
"Kelly, she was all over you," Jill reminded.
"She was drunk."
"So? I've seen her so wasted that she could barely stand up before, and she's never once been like that."
Kelly rolled her eyes, "She just acted like that because of Meghan."
"She really seemed to be enjoying whatever it was you were doing to her under the water..."
"What are you trying to say?" Kelly questioned. "She's straight, Jill. You're her best friend. You know that."
"I'm just saying...maybe she has more feelings for you than you realize...maybe more than the both of you realize."
Kelly shook her head, "You don't know what you're talking about."
Jill frowned, "Why are you getting upset? That should make you happy."
"I'm not...I can't..." she sighed, frustratedly. "I can't even think of that being a possibility, alright?"
"Why not?"
"Because it's too hard. I mean, what if you're wrong, huh? But I listen to you, and end up completely ruining everything we have."
"But what if I'm right?"
"I still can't do anything. I'm her freaking boss."
"You're one of her closest friends," Jill corrected.
Kelly pinched the bridge of her nose, taking a deep breath, "I can't..."
"Kelly..."
"I just can't," Kelly shook her head as she grabbed a bottle of water and walked out of the kitchen.

Kelly set the bottle of water down on the night stand next to her bed along with a bottle of tylenol.
Kate stirred, turning onto her side to face her.
Kelly smiled gently, watching her wake up, "Hey."
"Hey," Kate smiled in return.
"How do you feel?"
"Like crap."
"I brought you some tylenol," she reached out, running a soothing hand through her hair.
"Thank you," Kate's eyes closed at the touch. "So was last night a success?"
"Yea, it was a lot of fun."
"What's wrong?" she opened her eyes to look at her.
"Why do you think something's wrong?"
"I can tell...is Jeff being a dumbass again?"
"No," Kelly laughed softly. "I haven't heard from him in a couple days."
"Then why are you upset?" Kate asked. "Oh God...did I make a fool out of myself last night?"
"No, you were fine. I'm ok, I promise."
Kate frowned, scotting back a little, "Lay down with me."
Kelly thought it over for a moment before climbing into the bed with her, laying on her side to face her.
Kate giggled at the feeling of Kelly's feet brushing against her shins.
"What?"
"You're short."
Kelly narrowed her eyes playfully.
Kate laughed, wrapping an arm around her. Her eyes traveled over the Texan's face, "Tell me what's wrong?"
"I got into a little argument with Jill," she sighed.
"About what?"
"You," she admitted, knowing that there was still no way she could be anything but honest with the other girl.
"I did take things too far last night, didn't I?"
"No, I promise, you were fine. She just thinks...she suggested that maybe we weren't exactly acting last night."
"Why would she say that?"
"I don't know. That's what we were arguing about."
Kate shook her head, "She doesn't get it."
Kelly smiled.
"What?"
"You wouldn't believe how many times I've said that about Ashley."
"Best friends, can't live with them, can't live without them."
"Yea," she agreed.
Kate smiled, pulling her a little closer, "So, do you feel better now that you've talked about it?"
"A little, yea," Kelly nodded. "Thanks."
"Anytime," she replied, leaning up and kissing her forehead lightly.
Kelly scooted a little closer, snuggling into her slightly.
Kate wrapped her other arm around her as well.
"You know, I have to say how impressed I am that you managed to put pajamas on by yourself last night."
"Actually, I think the shorts are on backwards."
"Nobody's perfect," Kelly replied, making her laugh. "You don't want any tylenol or anything?"
"Nah, I'm good for now. I think I just want to go back to sleep for a little while."
"You want me to go?"
She shook her head, wrapping her arms around her tightly, "You're all warm."
"Well, then I guess I'll stay," she laughed softly.
"Good," Kate nodded, yawning deeply.

Kelly walked outside to find Kate sitting on the ground, "Hey."
"Hey," she offered a smile when Kelly sat beside her. "How was the shower?"
"Nice and hot which was good. My back was all funky when I woke up this morning."
"I swear they hear you walking outside from a mile away," Kate joked as two of Kelly's dogs bounded over to them.
"It's because I bribe them," Kelly replied, pulling out a couple dog treats from her pocket and handing them to the dogs who were sitting beside her, waiting eagerly. She laughed, scratching behind their ears as they quickly ate the treats, hoping for more. "That's all."
Kate watched as one of the dogs ran back to play with the others while the second curled up beside the short Texan, "Baby?"
"Yea," Kelly nodded, scratching the dogs side for her. "I've had her the longest, so she is definitely the most spoiled."
"Understandably."
Kelly smiled.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Have I ever not allowed you to?"
Kate thought for a moment before speaking carefully, "Why didn't you stay with me last night?"
Kelly turned to her curiously.
"I, um, I'm a crier," Kate laughed softly. "I could tell when I woke up this morning I had been crying, and then you said something about me getting dressed by myself, and then just now you said your back was messed up...I'm assuming from not sleeping in your own bed."
Kelly nodded.
"Did we get in a fight?" she asked worriedly.
"Do you think if we got in a fight, I'd be the one sleeping in the spare bedroom?"
"Yes."
"You give me too much credit sometimes."
"You don't give yourself enough, and you also didn't answer my question."
"We didn't get in a fight."
"Jill filled me in a little on last night while you were in the shower," Kate rested her chin on her knees that were pulled up to her chest. "I'm sorry if I crossed the line."
"You didn't. We both had a little too much to drink, and I was definitely egging you on when we were in the hot tub. If anything, I should be the one apologizing."
Kate rolled her eyes.
"But seriously, you're fine. We were just messing around like normal because Meghan was there, and the alcohol just inhanced that."
"And after?"
"After?"
"Jill said she and Meghan went inside before us. What happened then? Something had to happen for you to not want to stay."
"Nothing happened. We came inside right after them."
Kate sighed.
"You were drunk," Kelly shook her head. "You were just really flirty."
"I don't like this."
"What?"
"The feeling of you not being completely honest with me. I'm not used to it."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize. Just tell me the truth. What happened?" Kate turned her head to look at her.
"You wanted me to stay."
"Ok?"
"You wanted me to stay so we could..."
"Oh," Kate blushed softly.
"You, um, said that you wanted me to show you how it can be."
"Did we kiss?"
"Not on the lips," she shook her head.
"And that's why you left? Because I made you feel uncomfortable?"
"No, and you didn't make me feel uncomfortable. You apologized, and said you would stop."
"So why didn't you stay?" Kate questioned as Kelly looked away from her. "Kelly?"
"I wanted you so bad last night," she shook her head. "I'm sorry, but I did--you have no idea how much I did. And I thought...I was afraid that if I stayed I wouldn't be able to not act on that."
"You don't have to apologize. I mean, it's my fault. I shouldn't have been acting like that."
"You were drunk."
"That should never be used as an excuse." She reached out, tucking a soft curl behind the brunette's ear. "Kelly, if I hurt you--"
"You didn't hurt me," Kelly gave a slight laugh. "I kinda enjoyed the attention, remember?"
"Well, if I upset you then I am so sorry. That's the last thing I'd ever want to do."
"It's ok," she replied.
"You sure?"
"Hey, it's me. I'm used to having to beat hot girls off with a stick, remember?"
Kate laughed, her nails scracthing lightly on the back of the Texan's neck.
Kelly's eyes closed softly.
"So we're good?"
"Mmhmm..."
"Good," she giggled. "And no more dancing around the truth, ok? I don't like that."
"Ok," Kelly agreed.
"And no more sleeping in another room, either. I don't want to have your hurting back on my conscience."
"Ok," Kelly laughed.
