Chapter 22: Safe

Andy didn’t hesitate. She grabbed Lynn’s hand and rushed to Mila. She didn’t have time to wake her up. She just picked her up and with Lynn in front of her they rushed out of the room. Not turning back they ran down the hallway.
Melissa and Nathan met them halfway. Mila woke up and when she felt herself being carried she panicked. Andy put her down and told her she needed to stay calm and to go with Lynn, and Melissa.
“I’m not going anywhere!” Lynn said. Andy looked at her and smiled. She gave her a lingering kiss.
“Nathan and I will handle this. I need you and Mila safe. Now go! I love you, remember that.” She gave her one more kiss then Nathan gave Andy a handgun. She made sure it was loaded and a bullet in the chamber. She nodded at Nathan and he led the way.
“The police won’t be here for another ten minutes. Security and your bodyguards are on the way up.”
“What happened to the ones that were supposed to be guarding our rooms?!”
“Apparently Melissa and I gave them the order to stand down tonight. We gave no such order. David came into Melissa’s room and that’s when she called you. Someone hacked into our phones and gave that order.”
“Who the fuck wants us dead?” Andy asked as they slowly inched towards her room. They could see the cloud of smoke slowly clearing up. Nathan rushed to the other side of the door and gave Andy hand signals. She nodded and he went in first.
She waited a second and went in behind him. She could see bullet holes in the walls and the pillows were destroyed from bullets as well. The smoke cleared a little more and the only spot they had to clear was under the bed. Nathan knew that Andy couldn’t look so she stood a bit back with her gun pointed towards the end of the bed. Nathan slowly began to get low until he was flat on his stomach.
Andy placed a finger on the trigger waiting to shoot anyone that comes out from under the bed. She took a step back and felt a breeze along with a small crunch. She looked to her right and saw the window was shattered as if someone jumped out of it.
“Nate.” She said and he quickly got up and looked at where she was looking. Both with their guns still pointed edged towards the window. When they looked out they saw two people climbing down.
“Don’t shoot. They’re almost to the 6th floor. Get your men there now!” Andy told Nathan and he nodded rushing out of the room with Andy behind him.
They took the stairwell and Andy tried to keep her speed up. She ignored the pain in her knee and just kept going. She needed to know why someone wanted to hurt her family.
They reached the 6th floor and once they got into the hallway they saw David with a few of Nathan’s men fighting with the two people they saw from the window.
Nathan and Andy rushed to them. Without thinking Andy tackled one of them. Everything was a blur. She felt the punches, kicks, and she knew she was bleeding. What felt like hours was only minutes. She heard voices telling them to freeze and then she was tackled to the ground.
She heard Nathan shouting at the police officers to let him go to explain everything. That was the last thing Andy remembered before seeing all black.

Mila and Lynn watched as the police officers brought out two people in all black from the hotel handcuffed. Then they saw Nathan and Dave carrying Andy.
“Oh my God! Andrea!” Lynn rushed up to them only to see she wasn’t conscious.
“We gotta get her to the hospital.” Dave said. They called for the medical team and they came quickly to help Andy. They strapped her into the stretcher and made their way to the ambulance. Lynn got in with her along with Mila. Nathan and Dave had to stay behind to answer some questions, but they told Lynn they would be right behind them.
Melissa would meet them there. She was trying to get a hold of Serenity but couldn’t. So she went a step ahead and called Serenity’s big boss to explain the situation. She couldn’t help but feel that Andy’s agent was behind this.

Hayley ran into the hospital trying to find Lynn. When she couldn’t she went up to the information desk and asked about Andy. The nurse looked up the information and told her. She gave a quick thank you and ran towards the elevator. She tried to wait, but it was taking too long for her. Just when she was about to give up the elevator chimed and opened. Once she was inside she pressed the button that would take her to the floor Andy was on.
“Is there ever going to be a time when Andy isn’t in the hospital?” She said to herself. The elevator doors opened and Hayley looked around trying to find Lynn. She walked down the hallway until she found a small waiting room. She peeked her head in and saw Lynn and Mila sitting together. She could already tell that they both were crying.
In the corner Melissa was on her cell phone, no doubt trying to do damage control. She made a beeline for Lynn. She kneeled down in front of them and that’s when Lynn noticed her. Without a second thought Lynn wrapped her arms around Hayley and began to sob again.
Moments later Zac and Taylor came rushing in and Mila ran towards them. There was silence in the room, except for the sounds of Melissa’s harsh tones.
“Any word?” Zac asked while Mila was clinging to him. Lynn let go of Hayley and stood up. She crossed her arms and wiped her eyes.
“A nurse came by about fifteen minutes ago. Andy had some internal bleeding they were trying to stop. They think she might have broken ribs again. But they would let us know if there’s anything else.” Lynn explained.
“I feel like she’s always in the hospital everywhere she goes.” Taylor said.
Lynn chuckled and nodded, “Yeah, I know what you mean. But I knew what I signed up for when we got together. After finding out about her heart and knee, I knew I was in for a bumpy ride.”
Melissa finally got off her phone and sighed, “Well, I just went in on Kyle. The head of Andy’s agency. He’s doing an investigation, discreetly of course. He said this wasn’t the first time Serenity did something for publicity. He’s going to assign her to someone else for Andy. He’s been trying to get a hold of Serenity with no luck. He’s going to give Andy more time off. With pay of course. He said she’s pretty well off right now, but this is just to have you guys be comfortable for a while.”
“Who are they going to give Andy now?” Lynn asked.
“I don’t know. He wants to try someone who's green and needs the experience. He said there’s a new girl that wants to get her feet wet and having Andy would be a good beginner level, since Andy is still kind of new too.” Melissa said with a sigh.
“Can you look into them?” Lynn asked.
“Of course. I’ll do an extensive interview with the new agent. I should have done with Serenity, but Kyle promised me she was a good one.”
“How is she?”
Everyone looked at the entrance to see Alexz standing there. They were not happy. Melissa walked up to Alexz and escorted her out.
“What the fuck is she doing here?!” Lynn asked walking up to the window watching Melissa talk to Alexz.
“I don’t know, but look, Melissa is turning her away.” Hayley said.
“I don’t want her anywhere near us from now on. She has something to do with this! I know it!”
“Lynn calm down, Andy needs you right now. Andy needs you to be strong and to be there when she wakes up.” Zac said, trying to calm his friend down.
Lynn nodded knowing he was right. She went up to Mila and pulled her into a hug. The mother and daughter just held onto each other really tight waiting for more news.
Hours passed and the doctor finally came into the waiting room. She asked for Andy’s family. Lynn and Mila stood up and she walked over to them.
“The good news is we stopped the bleeding. She’s stable, we were able to repair her ribs and save her lung. If she can make it through the night, she’ll be okay. You might want to extend your stay here for another week or so. To make sure she’ll be able to fly. She needs rest. I can’t stress that enough.” The doctor told them.
Lynn nodded, “Looks like she’s not going to be making the award show tomorrow.”
“I’m sorry but we do need to keep her here for a few days to make sure she’s out of the woods. You can see her tomorrow morning. She’s had a rough few hours. Let her sleep and you can come by tomorrow morning. I’ll call you if there’s any change.” The doctor gently squeezed Lynn’s arm and gave her a small smile.
Lynn nodded, “Thank you doctor, for everything.” The doctor smiled and walked out of the room.
Melissa walked up to her, “We’ll figure the award show. Let’s get you and Mila back. Nathan already had you moved to another suite. Come on, you both need to rest.”
Lynn nodded, she knew Melissa was right. They needed to rest and to be ready to see Andy in the morning.

Lynn woke up to a banging on her hotel door. She groaned getting up from the bed and wiped the sleep from her eyes. Without looking through the peephole she opened the door and Kara rushed into her room.
“Kara? What are you doing here?” Lynn asked with a yawn closing the door.
Kara grabbed the TV remote and she turned on the TV, “You’re in the headlines.”
Lynn looked at the TV and there she was with Andy doing an interview with the headline reading “Photographer In Hospital After Attack!”
“In other news, world renowned photographer Andrea Hill has been hospitalized after being attacked in her hotel last night. As far as we know she’s in stable condition. Andrea is here for the International Photography Awards, where she is nominated for six categories. Andrea is married to PVRIS front woman Lynn Gunn. We have yet to hear a statement from Lynn. The attackers have been arrested and are being questioned. We wish Andrea a speedy recovery, thoughts and prayers to her and her family at this time.”
Kara turned down the volume, and looked at Lynn, “I know you don’t want to, but you need to make a statement for the press. They’re waiting downstairs for you. Melissa and Erika are with Mila right now. Also, Hayley said she would be there to accept any award for Andy. Mila said she wanted to go to speak on Andy’s behalf too. So that way you could be with Andy at the hospital. Now, come let’s get you ready.”
Lynn just nodded and listened to what Kara had to say. There was another knock at the door. Kara told Lynn to get into the shower handing her a towel. Lynn nodded and took the towel. She walked into the bathroom and closed the door. She looked into the mirror and saw the dark circles under her eyes. As well as her eyes were bloodshot from last night. She sighed and turned on the water for the shower. What she really wanted was a nice long bath. She couldn’t wait to get home and just have a good soak.
She stripped down and stepped into the nice warm shower. She needed to wash away the pain from last night. That’s all she needed. She had to put on a brave face for the press and to be able to make a statement about last night. But right now she had to have some of her alone time.
Kara opened the door and smiled seeing the group of guys and one woman standing before her. She invited them in and then closed the door.
“She’s going to be so glad to see all of you.” Kara said hugging each of them.
“Soon as we got the call we knew we had to come out.” Brian said with a smile.
"She has no idea that all of you are here. Ethan I know you want to see Andy. I figured after this press thing you, Lynn, and Mila can go see her. After that, Mila said she wanted to go to the award show with Hayley to accept any award Andy was going to get. I figured you might want to go with them."
"Of course. How is Mila?" Ethan asked with concern for his Goddaughter.
"She's a little shaken right now. She's a tough kid though. Erika and Melissa are with her in the other room. Let me go get her, I'm sure she'll be happy to have you all here." Kara said with a smile and went to the connecting door. She gently knocked and walked into the room, closing the door behind her.
Everyone sighed and looked at each other. They could hear the showering running. Knowing that it was Lynn.
"So, since we've met you guys she's been in the hospital at least seven times." Angel said with a small smile trying to lighten up the mood.
"Trust me, it was worse before we met you. With her heart, knee, and everything else in between. Good thing she has amazing insurance. Otherwise she would be a different story." Ethan said, shaking his head.
The connecting door opened and Mila's eyes widened seeing everyone. Without a second thought she rushed up to Alex and held him tight. Alex smiled and returned the tight hug. Everyone gathered around her giving her tight hugs. She saved Ethan for last and they hugged each other not wanting to let go of each other.
They heard the bathroom door open and Lynn stood in the doorway. She gasped seeing everyone there. She was wrapped in a towel with her hair in a towel as well. Angel was the first one to make a move. She rushed up to her best friend and hugged her tightly. Lynn couldn't help but let out a sob.
The guys and Mila took it as a cue to leave the room. So Mila led them to her room to give them some space. Angel just held onto her best friend as if Lynn's life depended on it.
"I'm here, it's okay. I'm here." Angel whispered. After a few more moments Angel led her over to the bed and let Lynn sit down.
"I'll help you get ready. You don't have to say anything. I got you." She kissed her best friend's forehead and started to go through Lynn's things to help her get ready.
Meanwhile in Mila's room Melissa was going over the plan of action.
"So after Lynn gets ready, she and Mila will go downstairs and give a statement. I didn't write anything because I know Lynn won't follow anything I write. She's going to speak from the heart. After that we're going to get into the limo and go to the hospital. They have a private entrance, because the press is there as well. Nathan is waiting for us."
"Wait Nathan?" Brian asked.
"Nicole's Nathan?" Ethan jumped in.
"The very one. He and Andy have become friends over the last couple of years. This is actually Nathan's hotel. He's also been helping with our security. He's been really helpful. Also, I don't want to set off any more alarms, but Nicole is in town as well."
Everyone started to talk at once. Melissa knew this was going to happen. She rubbed her temples and let out a sigh. Mila went over to Erika and took her hand. She smiled and told the young girl it was going to be okay. Once everyone calmed down Melissa let out a long breath.
"We only just found out. But we also think Serenity is behind this too. She keeps pushing for Andy to do the reboot that Alexz wants. Kara has already talked to Alexz's agent, but nothing came of it. She actually showed up at the hospital last night."
Once again everyone started to talk at once. Again, Melissa waited for them to calm down. They finally did and she let out another long breath.
"Guys, I've already talked to Kyle, the head of Andy's agency. He assured me he's going to assign someone new to Andy. I'm going to conduct an interview, and to make sure this new agent is who we want."
"I don't get it. Why are you handling all of Andy's PR stuff?" Brian asked.
"Well since Andy is married to Lynn, she's kind of our responsibility too. Just like if Angel decides to venture out with her own thing,  she would be under our protection as well."
"Where's Wendy? I thought she would be here too." Ethan asked, looking at Kara.
"She's finishing some things up in Boston, then she's on the next flight out tonight. It's good training for her. Andy's parents already know what's going on. They're going to stay in the States and are going to meet us at the airport in Boston. Since you all spend Christmas and New Years there." Kara explained.
"Ethan I need to prep you for the red carpet. I just got word that Serenity is heading back to the States right now. So as of right now Erika, Kara, and I are taking over as Andy's agents. She's being investigated because Kyle thinks she has something to do with this. Also, found out this wouldn't be the first time Serenity tried to boost her client's publicity." Melissa told them.
The connecting door opened and in walked Lynn and Angel. Lynn went straight to Brian and Alex. She held them close. The three friends stood like that for a while. When they broke apart, Ethan walked up to her. Without thinking Lynn just wrapped her arms around him. He held her close and tight letting her know that he was there.
When they let go, Erika said it was time for them to go. Lynn nodded and looked at Mila. She went up to her daughter and smiled, "Hey kiddo. Are you ready?"
"I'm scared mom."
Lynn nodded and took her hand in hers. She gently touched her cheek and kissed her forehead, "I know baby. I'm scared too. But I'll be right there next to you. We still have each other and you are going to have new baby brothers or sisters soon. Mama is going to be okay. She always pulls through. Tonight you're going to have Aunt Hayley and Uncle Ethan with you. I'll be watching with mama. I promise. You don't have to say anything until tonight."
Mila nodded and hugged her mom. They two held each other close and tight like they have many times before. All Lynn wanted to do was keep her safe. Just like Andy would keep them safe.
Samantha and David were waiting for them outside of the door to escort them all to the lobby. After getting into the elevator Lynn noticed Myke and two other bodyguards were with them.
"I feel like we're being escorted by the secret service or something." Mila whispered to Lynn. She smiled at her daughter and nodded in agreement.
They reached the lobby floor and followed the bodyguards. They were just about to reach the entrance and Lynn stopped. She put on her sunglasses and gave a pair to Mila. She looked at her confused, "It's going to help with the flashes from the cameras."
Mila just nodded and put on the sunglasses. She smiled at her then looked at Melissa and nodded. Sure enough once they were out of the hotel and reached the steps the flashes started and so did the questions.
Melissa stood in front of them announcing that Lynn was going to say a few words regarding the attack. She also told them that they would not be taking any questions. Lynn would make her statement and that would be it.
Melissa stepped away and then Lynn with Mila stepped up. Lynn gave Mila's hand a gentle squeeze to let her know that she was right there.
"Thank you all for being here. Mila and I would also like to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts for Andrea. Last night we evaded an attack in our room. If it wasn't for Melissa's quick thinking, both Andrea and I would have been in the hospital. Nathan and Andrea went after the attackers on their own to try and hold them at bay until the police showed up. I want to thank the London police for acting so quickly to append the two people that were trying to hurt us.
Andrea is in stable condition and will not be attending the International Photography Awards tonight. I will not be there either. But our daughter will be there along with her Godfather Ethan Stevens, and Hayley Williams of Paramore to escort her. She will stand in my wife's place. Once again, I would like to thank you all for your concerns and well wishes. Also to our family and friends that have reached out. We will be extending our stay in London, until Andrea is well enough to fly back to the States.
Thank you all for your time. Thank you all once again for being here. It really means a lot to our family. We will update you all soon about Andrea's condition. We also want to thank the first responders, nurses, and doctors for saving Andrea's life. I would also like to thank Nathan for his quick response to the attack, and for helping Andrea. As well as our security team, our PR team, and our management team for staying by us through this hard time. That is all for now. Thank you."
The reporters started to ask questions, but Melissa stepped up and started to talk to them as Dave, Samantha, and Myke started to escort everyone to the limo. Lynn made sure she had Mila with her by her side. She held onto her hand tight to make sure she didn't lose her. She felt Mila's other hand cover hers.
"Dave! Mila!" Lynn said looking down at her daughter seeing the scared look on her face. David saw too and started to really push everyone out of their way. Ethan started to help too. He came up on the other side of Mila and started to guard the reporters from putting the camera in her face.
They made it to the limo and started to pile in. David closed the door once everyone was in he hit the window twice letting the driver know that they were ready.
"Melissa said the hospital is just as bad." Angel said.
"There's a private entrance we're going to. Nathan is waiting there for us. Ethan, after you and Mila visit with Andy, you two have to go and get ready for tonight. Mila already has her dress. Erika and Kara are on their way to get something for you. Hayley is going to meet up with them in an hour to make sure she matches with you too." Lynn explained.
Ethan smiled, "Andy has rubbed off on you."
"What do you mean?" Lynn asked, looking at him.
"You know how Andy always has a plan?" Brian asked with a smirk.
Lynn took off her sunglasses and her eyes went wide, "Oh God! I am now my wife!" Everyone in the limo laughed.
Something they all needed. A good laugh. It was a sound that even the driver smiled for. They laughed all the way to the hospital. The driver pulled around to the private entrance and even before he could even stop Nathan was already opening up the door.
"Okay come on. Quick, the press caught wind of you guys coming in through this way."
Behind them another car pulled up and parked. Dave, Samantha, and Myke rushed up to them with two others coming up behind them. They rushed the group into the hospital and without stopping they climbed the stairs.
They reached the floor Andy was on and in haste the walked down the hallway. Just as they were about to reach Andy's room Nathan stopped them. There were two police officers outside of Andy's room.
"Damn! They're still there."
"What's going?" Angel asked.
"Two detectives are in there right now questioning her about the attack. They didn't want to wait. She barely woke up and they barged in." He explained.
"And you didn't stop them?!" Lynn asked, rushing past them and straight towards the police officers.
They tried to stop her but she demanded to be let in to see her wife. The two looked at each other, then back at Lynn. They didn't move and she reached for the door and burst in.
"Excuse me, but my wife is in NO condition to answer ANY of your fucking questions right now!"
"I'm sorry but who are you?" The middle aged woman asked.
"Did you not hear her? She's my wife, and she's right. I can't be answering all these questions right now." Andy said weakly.
The older man looked at them with a skeptical look and nodded, "Thank you for your time. We'll be back later to ask some more questions."
Lynn watched them leave as they walked out. She shook her head and turned her attention back to Andy. She rushed up to her and she grabbed Andy's hand.
"Hey you." She said softly and kissed Andy's forehead.
"Hey yourself." Andy answered weakly.
"Everyone's here. The guys, Angel. They're here." Lynn said with a smile.
"Are you and Mila okay?"
"We're fine. Mila is going to go to the show tonight with Hayley and Ethan. She's going to accept any award you win tonight. We have everything planned out. We can't get a hold of Serenity. But she's not going to be your agent for much longer. Kyle's going to make sure of it. Melissa is going to make sure the next person is the right person. I just made a statement to the press. I'm sure when you're better you'll make one too-"
"Baby, slow down. You're here. That's all that matters." Andy told her softly.
"Okay, who are you? And what have you done with my wife?" Lynn asked with smiling eyes.
Andy chuckled a little bit and groaned in pain. She leaned back and shook her head. She looked back at Lynn and smiled.
"Let me get Mila and Ethan. I'm sure they both want to see you." Lynn said and walked out of the room. A few moments later Lynn walked in with Mila, and Ethan. Mila rushed up to Andy and gently put her arms around her as best as she could.
"Mama! Are you okay?!" She asked as she pulled away looking at all the machines Andy was hooked up to.
"I'm okay kiddo. I just have to stay here for a few days. They have to make sure I'm okay." Andy told her with a weak smile.
"Knew I should have come with you bitch." Ethan said with a smile gripping her hand.
"Alex would not have let that happen dickweed." She gave him a wink.
"So I hear you two and Hayley are going to the awards for me."
Mila nodded slowly, "Yeah, I'm scared though. I don't know what you want me to say."
Andy smiled, "Just say what comes to your heart. Like what your mom did today with the press."
"You were watching?" Mila's eyes widened.
Andy smiled, "Of course I was watching. I'm always going to watch you and your mom when I can't be there. We'll be watching you tonight."
Mila gripped Andy's hand and Andy remembered something. She remembered the scared high schooler asking about bullying. She remembered how her classmates made fun of her. She took in a deep breath and slowly raised her hand and gently touched Mila's cheek.
"Remember that day when I pulled you onto the stage at Kellam?" Andy asked and Mila nodded.
"Remember what I said?"
Mila nodded again, "It's etched into my memory and it's not ever leaving."
"Just remember those words and you'll do great up there. You'll have Uncle Ethan with you and Aunt Hayley. Uncle Zac, and Uncle Taylor too. You're going to have a good support system with you. Uncle Ethan will go up there with you and stand with you. Just remember I'm with you always."
Mila didn't know what to say. Just just wrapped her arms around Andy and gave her a gentle squeeze. Andy smiled and kissed the top of her daughter's head, "I love you kiddo. Remember that."
"I love you mama. Get better soon." Mila said, pulling away. Lynn came over to her and told her she had to get ready to get going. Same with Ethan.
"Ethan, hold up a sec." Andy said and Ethan turned around. Lynn and Mila left the room and Ethan pulled up a chair and took his best friend's hand in hers.
"What's up bud?"
"I want you to know, Lynn and I decided, that whatever happens to us, you and Alex will have sole custody of our children."
"Andy I-"
"Don't. Let me get this out. Last night was a message from someone. The same night they tried to hurt Lynn and force a miscarriage. I don't know what's been going on, but I need to find out. Lynn would have been in the bed next to me if it wasn't for Melissa calling Lynn. Ethan, whatever happens, you and Alex will get the townhouse. Everything I have will be yours. You're my best friend and I just ask this of you. Please?" Andy couldn't hold back her tears. She let them fall.
Ethan sniffled and quickly wiped his eyes, "You got me, I got you right?"
"Always. Now go get ready. I'll watch you from here." She said with a teary smile.
He stood up and kissed her forehead, "I love you bitch."
Andy smiled and squeezed his hand, "I love you dickweed. You'll do great up there."
"I got you." With one more squeeze of his hand Ethan walked away. Turning back to give her a wink and blow her a kiss like he used to when they worked together.
Andy let out a soft sob that she's been holding in. That's when Lynn came back into the room and rushed over to her.
"I'm so sorry." Andy was able to let out.
Lynn rushed over to her and put her arms around her, "It's okay. We're okay. You don't need to be sorry. I'm here. I'm always here."
Lynn held onto Andy to calm her down. Right now she knew that her wife wouldn't be able to see anyone else for a while.
Angel looked through the window and smiled. She let out a sigh and turned to the group, "Guys, I don't think Andy's up to seeing anyone else until tomorrow."
Brian and Alex looked through the window and smiled. Then, Alex got an idea.
"Guys, let's see if we could get into the award show. Be there for Mila." He said.
Brian snapped his fingers, "Great idea! Let's find Melissa right now! Let's go!"
"Boys, I swear." She said crossing her arms. They looked at her and then put their heads down.
She shook her head and smiled, "Come on! What are you waiting for?! We have an award show to crash!"

"You okay kiddo?" Ethan asked Mila.
"I don't know if I can do this." She said looking out the window as the limo slowly made its way towards the red carpet.
Ethan looked at Haley and smiled. Hayley leaned forward and took Mila's hand in hers. "We got you. We're all here for you. What would your mama say in this situation?"
"She would say to close my eyes, take a deep breath and let it out slowly."
"Do exactly that."
Mila nodded, and closed her eyes. She took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. Once she opened her eyes, she felt a little better. She smiled and nodded at Hayley. She smiled and gave the young girl's hand a squeeze.
"Okay, here we go." Ethan said with a smile. "I'll go first."
He waited for the door to open. Once it did he stepped out, then Haley, then Mila. When Mila stepped out she smiled seeing Brian, Alex, Angel, Zac, and Taylor waiting for her.
"We're here for you kiddo. Always." Alex said with a smile.
"Now come on let's work this red carpet." Ethan said, holding out his arm for her to take. She hooked her with his and they started to walk the red carpet slowly. Kara was right there telling them where to go and where to stand.
Mila was so happy to have everyone here with her. She wasn't sure if she was able to do this. But seeing everyone else boosted her spirits so much she was overwhelmed with emotion. But she knew she had to hide it from the cameras.
The flashes were blinding, but Hayley taught her a trick. To find one spot and to focus on it. Also when turning her head to do the same thing. After a few more pictures Kara directed them to the first interviewer. Ethan and Haley said they would answer questions she wasn't comfortable with. Kara even informed them to not ask about Andy's condition.
"Hey guys, Ryan here with Photography News. We're here with Mila, Ethan, and Hayley. So Mila is this your first time in London?"
"Yes sir." She said shyly and he smiled.
"What's your favorite thing about London?"
"The Globe Theatre. I'm in theatre at my school, and William Shakespeare is one of my favorite playwrights. I know it sounds cliche, but I read all his sonnets in the third grade."
"Wow that's amazing! Are you hoping your mom wins tonight?"
"I hope so. But if she doesn't I'm still proud of you mama! I love you!"
Ryan smiled and patted her back gently. "Hope you have a great time! Best of luck to you and your mom!"
"Thank you!" She said with a smile.
Kara directed them to another interview and Mila was doing great in front of the cameras. Once they reached inside Mila pulled Ethan and Hayley to the side. The two looked at her with concern in her eyes.
"I need air. I can't breathe. I feel as though there's these walls closing in around me."
Ethan kneeled down and put his hands on her arms, "Okay, okay, okay, deep breath. Just take deep breaths. Close your eyes just like you did in the car. You did so good out there kiddo. We're so proud of you. Your parents are proud of you too. You were so great. We won't go in until you're ready."
Hayley kneeled down as well, "They're calling for me, but I'm not going anywhere until I know you're okay."
Mila nodded, "Okay. I just need to calm down for a second. That was a lot to take in."
"I know kiddo, trust me. It was my first time too. But we got each other right?"
She nodded and smiled. She continued to take deep breaths until she was ready. She looked at Ethan and Hayley and gave them a nod. They both smiled and stood up. She took each of their hands and they walked in. They met up with everyone else and they said the same thing. How they were proud of her and that she did amazing.
"Okay, so we have a small problem. We're not able to sit with you guys-" Alex started to say.
"Wait what?!" Mila said in a slightly panicked voice.
Alex kneeled down and smiled, "Hey we'll still be here. But we'll be upstairs. You still have Ethan. Then, once Hayley, Zac, and Taylor are done performing they'll be right there with you. You're safe. You're always going to be safe."
She wrapped her arms around him and held on tight. "Will you be here when it's over?"
"Of course. We'll all ride together. You're going to be amazing up there." He let go of her and kissed her forehead.
Brian, Angel, Hayley, Zac, and Taylor did the same. Then, they all parted ways. She held onto Ethan's hand as if her life depended on it. Dave and Samantha were right there as well. Once they reached the auditorium Dave said this was as far as they could go. They would be right there once the ceremony was over.
Mila could feel her heart pounding in her chest. She hoped no one would be able to hear it. She stuck to Ethan like glue. She didn't want to lose him in the crowd. They were directed to their seats, which were surprisingly pretty close. Once they were seated Mila wasted no time to look up towards the second level to try to find Brian, Alex, and Angel. After scanning for a few minutes she found them. She stood up and started to wave. It was Angel that noticed her and she nudged the two men. She pointed at Mila and they all waved at her.
She smiled and turned back into her seat. She felt a little better knowing that they were up there and they would be able to see her. She looked at Ethan and he looked back at her and gave her a smile and a wink.
"Thank you for coming with me."
"Anything for you kiddo. I would not have missed this for the world. Fun fact, I was actually going to surprise y'all. We all were. But things ended up differently."
"How long do you think we'll be in danger?" Mila asked softly.
Ethan turned in his seat and really looked at his Goddaughter, "Hey look at me." She looked up at him and he could tell she was worried.
"Your mama and mom will ALWAYS make sure you're safe. So will we. We're also your family. No matter what we will always be there. Their line of work is hard. But don't worry we will always protect you. We will always protect each other. Now let's put our worries away and cross our fingers that your mama wins tonight okay?" He finished with a smile.
She nodded and smiled at him, "Okay. Let's do this!" She held out her fist and Ethan gave her a fist bump. The lights dimmed and the music started up.
"By the way, this is about four hours or so. Think you'll be okay?" Ethan asked.
"As long as we stop for food afterwards, I'll be fine."
"You got it kiddo."
They both smiled and turned their attention to the stage. It was going to be a long four hours but Mila hoped to get back to her moms soon.

Meanwhile back at the hospital Lynn was sitting next to Andy's hospital bed and they were both watching TV. It was after visiting hours, but they let Lynn stay so they could watch the ceremony together.
"She did so well during the interviews." Andy said softly.
Lynn nodded, "She was such a natural. She's definitely our kid." She said with a chuckle.
The award show had about two hours left and they still haven't gotten to the awards that Andy was nominated for. They also noticed when they announced the nominees they would show a live shot of the person.
There was a knock at the door and Lynn said it was open. In walked Melissa and she smiled, "So I totally didn't know this until now, but the categories you are nominated for are back to back. Like they're right after each other."
"Which is why we haven't heard anything yet." Andy said.
"Also they're kind of towards the end." Melissa told them pulling up a chair to sit on the other side of Andy's hospital bed.
"There's another two hours left. So hopefully we'll hear something soon. By the way, Paramore's performance was great as always." Melissa said as she sat down.
"They're the reason I wanted to do music. Now look at us, we're friends. Sometimes I still feel like I'm in a dream." Lynn said with a smile.
"I know the feeling." Andy said, giving her wife's hand a squeeze.
"It's Alexz! This must be what Serenity was talking about!" Melissa said, hitting Andy's hospital bed.
The three turned their attention to the screen and watched Alexz make her speech.
Back at the location Mila and Ethan were listening to Alexz. Ethan already knew why Alexz was up there. He could also tell she was disappointed that Andy wasn't there. Alexz did make eye contact with him and he couldn't help but give her a little smirk.
There was movement in their aisle and they saw Hayley coming towards them. Then movement in front of them and behind them. Zac and Taylor were making their way to their seats in front of them. Angel, Brian, and Alex behind them.
"What's going on?" Ethan asked.
"In case Andy wins this one we're all going up there." Angel said.
"I got a text from Lynn saying that Alexz was here presenting one of the awards which Andy is nominated in." Brian said.
"Fuck." Ethan whispered then turned his attention back to the stage. He heard Andy's name, and then saw the picture that was on the big screen. It was a picture of Paris. Right as the sun was setting. How the Eiffel Tower was in the background giving it the shadow it needed to make it look just right in the orange, and purple colors of the twilight.
"And the award goes to," Alexz said into the microphone. She took a pause opening the envelope. Mila was gripping Ethan and Hayley's hand so tight they both swore they lost circulation.
"Andrea Hill!" Alexz said with a big smile. The crowd stood up and started to applaud. Mila's eyes went wide and she couldn't believe it. Ethan and Hayley both hugged her. The group started to make their way towards the end of their aisles.
Hayley waited for Mila and took her hand, and they both waited for Ethan. She took his hand and the group made their way to the stage.
Alexz tried to hide her surprise look when she saw the group coming up. She was holding the award while she waited. When the group finally got up to the stage she smiled and gave the award and envelope to Mila.
The young girl smiled and thanked her. Alexz wanted to go in for a hug but she saw the looks on everyone and just gave Mila a light squeeze on her shoulder. Then, she took a few steps back and waited for Mila to speak.
Mila was trying to catch her breath, but she looked at Ethan and he gave her a smile and a wink. She smiled back and let out a breath. She tried not to look at the crowd and just imagined her parents there. She smiled and began to speak.
"I know my moms are watching right now. I would like to say on my mama's behalf, she thanks the people who voted for her. Her agency, Cloud Skies, also her wife, my other mom Lynn. She would also like to thank her family back home. Her fans, and she would also like to thank everyone for their well wishes for a speedy recovery. I know my mama believes in God and I think she would like to thank Him as well.
When I first met her she and my mom came to my old high school, and I asked about being bullied. That's when Andrea pulled me up on stage and she put me front and center. I was so scared, but then she gave this speech about how it was okay to be different and to make fun of someone was not okay. I knew then she and Lynn would be part of my life. What I didn't know was that they would soon become my parents. I love you mama! I love you mom! I can't wait to bring this home to you! I personally want to thank my family that's behind me right now for being with me tonight. Thank you all! My mama thanks you as well! Thank you!"
The crowd gave her a standing ovation and Mila gave a little bow. Ethan and Hayley were right there to escort her backstage. The stage director told them they would stay there until the next five awards were done. Since Andy was nominated for the rest.
Ethan saw Alexz making her way towards Mila. He nudged Alex and they both just stood in front of Mila blocking Alexz's line of sight. The blonde just sighed and walked past them. She knew a way to Andy would be through Mila. One way or another she would get Andy to do the reboot.

"I can't believe she won all of them!" Mila said as she got into the limo.
"I know! But you! You were the talk of the night. Your speeches were amazing and how you handled the interviews, wow! Like you knew exactly what you were doing!" Ethan said with a smile getting in after her.
"For your first time, you were a champ! We're so proud of you!" Brian said, giving his Goddaughter a wink.
"It's past visiting hours, so I'm sure your parents would like to see you first thing in the morning." Kara said smiling.
"Actually Lynn is waiting for us at Sizzle. She figured Mila would be hungry and she has a table waiting for us." Hayley said looking at her phone.
"I am starving! That was really long!" Mila said and everyone chuckled.
"We'll see your mama first thing in the morning. But right now food is calling our names." Alex said.
Everyone shook their heads, they knew Alex was ready for food like always. On their way to Sizzle, Kara mentioned that she gave a small statement for why Mila didn't do the after awards interview. She figured they would get out quickly. Erika was back at the hotel handling the press along with Nathan. Erika was also handling the press back home.
"Any word on the new agent?" Angel asked Kara.
"Yup, Kyle is flying her out as we speak. She'll be here tomorrow. Her name is Stacy. She's a new agent. Kyle says she could use some field experience. This is a little heavy, but he wants us to help her in ways he can't." Kara explained.
"Maybe she can keep Alexz at bay." Taylor said.
Everyone was in agreement. It was then everyone's phone started to go off all at once. It was a text from Andy telling them how grateful she was for them. Also to thank them for being there for Mila. She couldn't wait to see them in the morning and how proud of Mila she was. They all smiled and looked at each other. Ethan put his arm around Mila and kissed her forehead. Andy had sent Mila a separate text telling her how much she loved her and how proud of her she was. She also couldn't wait to see her tomorrow and to hear all about the show.
The driver pulled up to Sizzle, the back entrance though. Everyone looked confused and Kara explained that the press saw Lynn walk in and the main entrance was covered with reporters. They had to walk through the kitchen and they had a private room.
David opened their door and they all got out. Melissa was right there to escort them through the kitchen. She told them to be careful since they didn't have non-slip shoes on.
Once they were inside Melissa led them through the busy kitchen and Ethan couldn't help but shake his head. He had flashbacks of him and Andy being in the kitchen at their old job. The good old days he would say now. They exited the kitchen and quickly made their way to the back. Hopefully no one saw them.
Once they entered the room Mila wasted no time and rushed up to Lynn. The two held each other tight and everyone smiled. Lynn kept whispering how proud of Mila she was and how much she loved her. Everyone started to take their seats. Lynn kissed Mila on the top of her head one more time and the two took their seats.
This time Lynn sat at the head of the table and it was different, yet it felt right to everyone else. Just then a winded Wendy rushed in and smiled.
"I felt like I just ran two marathons." She said out of breath and everyone laughed. They all stood up and everyone gave her a hug one by one.
"I thought you weren't going to be there until tomorrow." Ethan said with a smile pulling out a chair for her.
"I finished up early and caught the red eye. Kara sent me all the information while I was about to board. I was hoping to catch the awards, but once I landed it was over." Wendy explained.
"How's Andrea doing?" She asked Lynn.
"She's good. Recovering nicely like always."
"I'm so sorry my sister keeps going into a hospital every time you guys go somewhere."
"Okay that's not true. When we spent Christmas and New Years with you the first time. Oh! When we went on tour with you the first time with you and Coachella. The year she was away. So there were times when she wasn't." Ethan said and everyone agreed.
"But tonight is all about Mila and how she did so well tonight! All the interviews and all the speeches. She handled it like a pro!" Lynn said with a smile giving her daughter's hand a gentle squeeze.
They continued to talk amongst themselves and gave their orders to the couple of servers helping them out for the night. Lynn smiled looking at everyone around her and she felt so much love in the room. She only wished Andy was there with her. She left Andy with two police officers outside of her door to make sure she was safe. That hospital wing even out double security on that floor. Nathan even provided his own personal body guards to help out.
She would see her in the morning. But right now, she was going to enjoy her time with her friends and daughter.

"So you think your ex-girlfriend and this actress might be behind everything?" The older man from earlier asked Andy.
Andy nodded, "I believe so. A couple of years ago she and another ex-girlfriend of mine tried to slander me in a magazine. The actress has been adamant about me doing a reboot of a show but I told her no. Even my agent wants me to do the show, but I told them both no."
"What agency represents you?" The young woman asked.
Andy grunted trying to stay sitting up in the hospital bed, "Sorry, um, it's Cloud Skies. My agent's name is Serenity Hamil."
The woman from before wrote down the agency and Serenity's name in her small notepad. When she was done she looked up at her partner, "Why does that name sound familiar?"
The older man looked at her then back at Andy, "How long have you known your agent?"
"A couple of years at this point."
"What else do you know about her?" The woman asked.
Andy shook her head, "Not much. She's very career driven, single, lives alone, mid thirties. Worked me to death."
"Mrs. Hill we have a feeling that your agent might be part of another case we've been working on for the past four years. It seems very similar to yours. Same agency, same agent. Before we were able to question her she left the country. Has your agent left the country?"
Andy shook her head, "I'm not sure. I haven't seen or talked to her since the pre award show party. I wouldn't know at the moment."
"If you hear from her before you head back to the States please let us know. We really need to ask her some questions." The older man said and gave Andy his card. She nodded and took the card from him.
"Thank you for your time. Feel better soon. We'll be in touch." The woman said and the two left. Andy shook her head and leaned back on her hospital bed. She couldn't believe this. She just wanted it to be over. She wanted to go home and to be with her family. She wanted to get Lynn and Mila out of here and to just be in peace for a while.
The nurse came in and gave her a smile. She checked the numbers on the machine and wrote them down on her piece of paper. She asked if Andy needed anything. Andy asked for some water and the kind nurse smiled.
She told her she was going to turn off the light so she could get some rest. She would be back with the water for her. Andy thanked her and the nurse turned off the light and left the room. Andy pressed a button on her bed and it started to go down slowly. She changed the channel on the TV. She let out a sigh and before she was able to sleep she sent Lynn a text.
She said good night and that she would see her in the morning. She told her she loved her and to give Mila a hug for her. After she sent the text, the nurse came back with a small plastic pitcher of water and a small cup. She placed the pitcher and cup on the small table and poured some water into the cup.
Andy thanked her and the nurse just smiled. She told Andy good night and left the room once again. Andy smiled and gave her a small nod. She wanted to turn over to her side, but it was still painful to move. She let out a sigh and just kept thinking that she wanted to be in her own bed.
She watched some more TV and before she knew she was asleep. Hoping to wake up to see her wife and daughter in the morning.

"Home sweet home." Ethan said with a smile opening the door to the townhouse. Brain was helping Andy walk into the house. She was still a little weak and needed some help to walk.
She was so glad to be home and smiled when she saw the small set up in the living room. Cathy and Tim came in behind her and they both smiled.
"Figured it would be a little hard for you to get up and down the stairs, so we set up a little camp for you here." Cathy said with a smile.
"Thank you. It's perfect. I'm sure Mila and Lynn are gonna love it too." Andy said with a smile. Alex came in carrying Andy's and Lynn's luggage. Brian helped Andy over to the pull out couch and helped her sit down.
Kevin and Susan came in and smiled. They were going to be staying with Andy and Lynn until after New Years. Ethan told Andy that the camp site has been booked, he and David would be out there tomorrow morning to set up. Andy wanted to be there. After a small argument it was decided she would be there, but she would be sitting in a lawn chair watching.
"Oh Andrea, I'm taking the girls Christmas shopping. Lynn says you two didn't have time to get a tree or anything." Susan said.
"Yeah mom, we've been so busy with the wedding, and this whole thing in London. I need to talk to Stacy. Let her know I'm back. She's still in London doing damage control with Melissa. We had to sneak away."
Kevin came up to Andy and put his hand over hers, "Andrea, you just had a long flight. Let us handle everything. Dr. Samson is going to be here soon to give you a once over. You're going to be resting for a while. We'll handle everything. Susan and Cathy are on their way to meet the girls. You can either stay here in the living room, or join the rest of us in the kitchen while we make dinner."
Andy nodded, she could never argue with her dad, "I'll join you in the kitchen. I feel as though I've been hearing 'get some rest' too many times in the last week."
Kevin smiled and helped Andy to the kitchen. Lynn, Mila, and Angel came inside but Cathy and Susan stopped them.
"Don't go too far. We're taking you two and Alex Christmas shopping. I'll go get Alex. His parents should be here any minute." Susan said.
"Really?!" Mila said with a smile.
"Mom, I appreciate it, but we just had a long few days. We could use some rest." Lynn said.
"I know sweetheart. Just let us do this for you. Plus we have to get Andy a Christmas present. Tomorrow the guys and Andy are going Christmas shopping. After she checks out the campsite of course." Cathy said with a smile.
Just then Robert showed up at the front door and smiled. Susan and Alex met him at the door. He smiled and hugged his son, "I'd love to chat with you son, but your mom is getting antsy to have some time with you and the girls. I'll see you for dinner."
"Why do I have to go?" Alex said, still confused about what's going on.
"You have to buy presents for Ethan right?" Robert asked.
Alex's eyes widened slightly, "Oh right. Yeah. I do actually. Things have just been so crazy."
"Let me say bye to Andy first. I'll meet you in the car." Lynn said with a tired smile and walked into the kitchen.
"Come on, baby girl Lisa says she has something for you." Susan said with a smile taking Mila's hand in hers. Lynn came back out of the kitchen and followed behind everyone. She took one more look towards the kitchen and smiled seeing Ethan and Andy bantering back and forth. She smiled and walked out the door. Hopefully soon they would have time just the two of them.
In the kitchen Ethan was teaching Brian how to make Gumbo. One of Ethan's favorites. She was sitting at one of the counter stools watching the guys work.
"So they're splitting up the investigation?" Robert asked cutting up some carrots for the homemade salad.
Andy nodded, "Yes sir. Someone is supposed to be in touch with me in a couple of days so I can tell them what happened."
"So what's happening with your agency?" Tim asked pouring her a glass of apple juice since she couldn't have a Scotch with him.
"Well Kyle, the head guy sent a new agent my way. My contract with Serenity is going to be terminated. He also found out how much she made me work, and what she told me about him giving me vacation time was a lie. He said I should have taken my vacation after six months of being with the company. That's how his agency works. Six or seven months in. Six or seven months of vacation time. You can pick up some jobs here and there if you wanted to, during your vacation time. Serenity left that out of the contract.
So Kyle is letting me have more time off with double the pay. He's been really helpful. He looked through all the contracts she gave out. They all don't have the six month vacation statement. They've been taken out. He even talked to some of her clients and they have the same story as me. Working non stop for a year. Then, given the time off. Only me and another photographer went through the whole attack scenario." She explained.
"Well the main thing is that you and your family are home and safe. We're going to have a good Christmas and New Years. We might not stay at the camp out, but we're going to have a good time." Kevin said with a smile sitting next to his daughter.
"He's right. You relax and heal up. Let us handle everything. The only thing you should be doing is getting presents for your girls." Robert said with a smile.
Andy nodded, "Thank you guys. By the way Wendy is still in London with Stacy, Melissa, and Kara. Kara says it's training for Wendy."
Ethan was about to say something but they all heard the door open. Everyone already on edge they stopped what they were doing and looked at the door. Waiting to see who it was.
"Damn it's really coming down." The voice said and everyone sighed when they saw David turn the corner.
"Knock next time son, you gave us all a scare!" Tim said with a smile and went to go hug his son.
David laughed and returned his dad's hug. They let go of each other and he looked at Andy and gave her a big hug. She groaned in pain and he let go of her quickly.
"I'm so sorry! Are you okay? Did I break anything?!" He asked in a panicked tone.
Andy groaned again and nodded, "I'm good. No worries."
"Okay what the hell happened this time? I kinda heard about it, but work has just been non stop with this author right now. So did you really take down some bad guys?" David asked with excitement.
Andy shook her head and smiled. She took in a deep breath and began to tell David everything. He hung onto every word. When she was done he looked at her with his jaw dropped and it looked as though he was in a gaze. After a few moments he finally snapped out of it.
"So what happens now?" He asked.
