Confrontations(Pt2)
Sav paced around the room, his agitation fueling the hunger gnawing at his stomach. The room was void of any windows, but he knew the sun was up. He had no idea how long he had been in this room. The last thing he remembered was facing down five very old vampires, they had tackled him to the floor, then everything was blank. He woke in this room and hadn’t seen anyone since. He stalked over the double oak doors and tried to open them again…locked. Sav slammed his fists against them, then turned around to slump back against the heavy wood. He glanced around the room for the hundredth time to see if he could find something he missed in his search for another way out.
The room was too dark for his taste. The dark heavy oak paneling absorbed the light. Several embossed detailed tapestries hung from the walls. Landscape pictures of bright lush green rolling hills looked out of place in the dark interior that dominated the room. A large Persian rug of reds and green spread across the oak flooring. Sav walked over to the king-sized bed and flopped down on his stomach, then turned over on his back to stare up at the craved ceiling tiles. Even the mattress, if you could call it that, was to soft for him. He fingered the soft coverlet underneath him, it matched the heavy dark green drapes on the four posts of the bed.
Sav put his hand behind his head and let his mind drift. He reached out to find Joe and was met with a barrier that he didn’t understand. It was the same when he searched for Nick. 'Why can’t I feel him?' Sav thought. Distance shouldn’t matter anymore, Joe could be on the other side of the planet and he could still feel him or find him. Something was blocking him from doing that and it was unnerving and frightening.
The bolt on the door disengaged, pulling him from his thoughts. He sat up on the bed as the young woman came into the room carrying a tray. Sav eyed the door and stood up, ready to bolt out. Taking a few steps in that direction only to stop when the figure stepped in the doorway. It was one of the men that had been at his house and undoubtedly brought him here.
The smell in the bottle reached his senses, long strides soon had him snatching the bottle from the tray, he ignored the glass as he gulped down the rich blood. The woman stood off to the side with her head down waiting on him to finish. Sav lowered the bottle and eyed the man wearily.
“Who are you, and why am I here?” Sav demanded.
No response was forth coming from him.
“Ok, if you wont tell me, then find some one that will.”
The dark figure remained mute.
“Are you finished sir.”
Sav turned to the small meek woman, her voice was soft when she spoke, but her eyes remained downcast staring at the floor.
“What is your name?” Sav asked her.
She glanced nervously toward to the door. Sav caught the motion out of the corner of his eye and she quickly left the room. The man held the door knob.
“I’ll be back shortly for you. See that you are refreshed and changed when I return.” He told Sav.
“For what, where am I going?”
He shut the door and engaged the lock without answering him.
“Well I guess I’ll find out soon enough.” Sav said aloud.
He went over to the huge armoire and opened the doors. Pulling out a dark blue silk shirt that buttoned up the front and hung it on the door. He glanced at the pants that were neatly pressed and hung on the other side. He didn’t like any of them or the shoe at the bottom. He grabbed a pair of socks from the drawer and tossed them on the bed. He took a shower and toweled dried his hair and finished the bottle. He slipped his legs into his jeans and tucked in the shirt. Sav was tying his sneakers when the door opened and the same man stood there waiting on him. He stood up and went to the door.
“That is improper attire, mayhap you should choose a pair of the trousers that were supplied for you.”
“I didn’t like any of the ‘trousers’ that you had to offer. That type of fabric is rough on the skin.” Sav quickly dropped his eyes down, then back up. "You being a vampire should know that."
The man glanced at the armoire, "Mayhap we should change the style then."
"Perhaps you should." Sav smarted. "Can we go now? This waiting around for..."
“Very well.” The man cut him off and indicated for Sav to go ahead of him.
Sav went out the door and glanced down the hall to see Nick coming toward them, followed by an equally dark clad man.
“Nick.” Sav called out and tried to get to him, but the one with him stopped him from going. “Move out of my way.” Sav told him. He spun Sav around and with a light push, made him start walking down the hall. Sav kept turning around to look back at him.
“Face forward and keep walking, and remain silent.”
“Who the fuck are you to tell me what to do?”
“Richard, be quiet and do what he tells you.” Nick called out.
“What’s going on Nick?”
“Silence.” The man behind him said.
Sav stopped dead in his tracks and spun on his heels. “I’m not going anywhere or doing anything until you tell me what the hell this is about.”
Without warning Sav was backhanded across the face, he stumbled backward only to be grabbed by the throat and shoved into the wall.
“You will remain silent and do as your told.” His words had a dangerous under tone to them.
Sav regarded him a moment. “Fine, I’ll shut up.” He was released and shoved forward again. “Asshole.” he mumbled, as he was reward with another hard shove for his remark.
They went down a flight of stairs and across the landing to the main staircase that would fit two semi-trucks parked side by side on. Sav glanced up at the chandler overhead that looked to be 5’ foot across. The foyer down below was similarly decorated like his room. They came to another set of heavy oak doors and the man behind Sav stepped in front of himto open them, then indicating for Sav to go through. This room was large also, the walls were lined with thousands of books, an enormous fireplace along one wall with a small grouping of chairs around. The floor was covered with another Persian rug. Directly in front of him was a long table, sitting behind it were 11 men and one women.
“Something tells me this isn’t the record executives.” Sav mumbled, but he did feel the powerful vibration from them.
“What the hell is this?”
Sav spun toward the door, that was unmistakably Joe’s voice. He came in the door and saw Sav staring back at him, a shocked expression on his face.
“Sav..I thought you….”
”Joe, how did you get here? How did they find you?”
“We didn’t even get to where we were going.”
“No talking.” One of the men at the table spoke up.
Sav whipped around and glared at them. “I’ll talk when I want to. And who are you?”
“All will be explained in time.”
“You can start explaining now.” Sav shot back.
The large, dark haired man in the middle of the table stood up. “Mr. Savage, we’re the Elders of the Community. My name is Armand, the head of this counsel and the only name you need to know. “
“Why are we here?”
Armand ignored his question and turned his gaze to Nick. “Nicholas, it's been many centuries since you have came before us.”
“Indeed it has Armand.” Nick replied.
“We’ll get underway momentarily, we’re awaiting the arrival of the other guest.” Silence filled the room as Armand took his seat.
Sav turned to Joe. “They didn’t hurt you did they?”
“No. Scott and his friends tried to keep them from me, but couldn’t. All of them are fine, little worse for wear maybe.”
The door opened behind them and the other guest came in. Joe and Sav had their backs to them.
“Joe!” a woman yelled. He turned around and saw Rebecca running toward him. He closed the distance and swept her up in his arms. Rebecca threw her arms around his neck. Joe buried his face in the hollow of her neck, he pulled away and looked at her.
“I’ve missed you so….” She didn’t get a chance to finish as Joe crushed her lips, he pulled away and held her tight.
“What are you doing here?”
“I don’t know.” She replied.
“Get out of my way or I’ll punch you.” Joe heard Phil say to one of the men. The other three members of Def Leppard and Malvin shoved past the man at the door. Joe let Rebecca slid to the floor and she went into Sav’s waiting arms. Everyone satrted talking at once, questions and concerns flying around.
“Rebecca where are the children?” Joe finally asked.
“They are here with us.”
“Mr. Elliott, I assure you that your children are being well taken care of. No harm has or will came to them. I believe the children are in the play room.”
“I want to see them.” Joe said.
“In due time Mr. Elliott.” He nodded slightly and three men came forward to herd the others off to the side of the room where they sat down. Leaving Nick, Sav and Joe in the middle of the room. “Now I know you are all wondering why you’re here.” Armand said.
“Demanding is a better phrase.” Sav told him.
“It first came to our attention that Lacey Garrett brought you across some 6 years ago Mr. Savage. We weren’t to concerned about this until we discovered that you were/are a high profile person and well know all over the world.”
“Yeah…so what does that have to do with why I’m here?”
“Did Lacey instruct you on the rules of The Code?”
”Yes.”
“It seems that you didn’t take it very seriously and broke many of the rules.”
”Which ones?” Sav wuickly shot back.
Armand shifted through some papers. “These… mortals know of our existence and that you told them what you are.”
”We don’t hold any secrets from each other. They noticed the change in me before I even told them. You can’t live the way we have for the past 20 years and not know each other.”
“That’s understandable to a degree. So we’ll let that one pass. This killing spree you went on a few years ago drew a lot of attention to yourself….”
“That wasn’t my fault. I had no control over my action. I’m sure it you read the report you have in front of you, you would know.”
“Yes we have. Nicholas will be dealt with accordingly for that incident. Now on a more serious matter, that of Mr. Elliott and the unscrupulous way he was brought across. Are we to understand that he never wanted to became one of us?” Armand directed his question to Joe.
“Um…no, not really. Maybe some time in the future, but not….”
”Mr. Savage, it is forbidden to bring one across in such a manner. You played with his life, to give him something he never wanted.”
“Armand,” Nick started. “I would like to put my thoughts on the matter of Mr. Elliott out in the open. I’m the one to blame for his crossing over. I allowed a new drug to be administered to Rick that had ill affects on him, which resulted in his killing….”
”Silence!” Armand’s voice boomed throughout the room.
Sav saw Nick’s reactions to this and lowered his head trying to contain his laughter. Joe leaned closer to him when Sav whispered. “I think that Nick is in trouble this time.”
“Mr. Savage!” Armand yelled.
“What?” Sav snapped his head up, all serious again, causing Joe to stifle his own laughter.
Armand cocked his head to the side, “You find this amusing?”
“Yes. It’s funny to see Nick get in trouble for something he caused in the first place. If it weren’t for him, everything that I….we." Sav pointed to Joe and the others. “Have been through since I meet him, would never have happened.”
“Perhaps you would share your time with Nick with us?”
“I’d rather not, revisiting hell is not a lot of fun. You can read it in your report.”
“A lot of it isn’t in our report. The sharing of blood will tell us what we want to know.”
Sav gawked at them. “All of you…well I don’t kno…”
”Do as they ask Rick.” Nick told him softly.
Armand was the first to rise from the table and rounded the corner. He waited for Sav to join him by the heavy draped window.
“You want me to share my blood with them and show them everything you put me through at your hands?”
“Yes.” Nick replied with a small smile.
“I don’t like that look in your eyes.”
“What I did, have done to you is frowned upon in the Community. I’ll be punished for it, but it’s nothing I can’t handle.”
“Then I won’t do it.”
“You must or they will force you.”
“Mr. Savage if you will.” Armand said.
“I’m not doing it, you have what you….”
Nick grabbed his arms and spun Sav to face him. “You must do this, don’t hold anything back or they will know, show them everything.” Nick released his arms and brought up his finger to lightly caress Sav’s cheek. “Your desire and feelings to protect me for what I’ve done to you shows in your eyes. Go…be done with it.” he gave him a gently shove to where Armand was waiting.
Sav glanced quickly to Joe, then over to where the guys sat. His gaze fell back on Nick a moment before he turned and went to stand in front Armand.
“Relax.” Armand said softly around his fangs, then reached up to unbutton Sav’s shirt and pushed it from his shoulders. His breath quickened in his chest as Armand leaned closer grazing his teeth over the vein before he eased them in.
Sav locked his eyes with Joe’s, the gently pull on his throat wasn’t sexual in nature, but different in the way of a blood kiss. Armand pulled away and licked the holes once, then leaned up to capture Sav’s eyes.
“Exquisite.” he whispered.
“So I’ve been told.” Sav replied, his eyes where gold flecked from the experience.
Armand stepped away and Sav was confronted with another. Each time his eyes sought out Joe’s. By the time the eighth person moved in front of him, he was swaying on his feet, his neck was sore from the repeated bite marks and lightly bruised. He dropped his eyes from Joe and closed them. Sav let his head fall forward to rest on the woman’s shoulder that was taking too much. Her fingers dug into his sides to hold him up.
Joe nervously glanced over at Rebecca and the others. No one spoke a word in all the time that this was happening. Joe turned his attention back to Sav, the woman was still latched onto his neck, and it looked like to him, that Sav was leaning heavily on her.
'He can’t take too much more of this.' Joe thought. Making up his mind to stop it, he stalked toward Sav.
“Stay where you are!” Nick hissed at him.
“Fuck you Nick. If you don’t do something, I will.” Joe told him angrily. He reached them and grabbed her arm to start pulling her away. She held firmly to Sav. Joe wedged his arm between them and pushed that way. “Get off him damnit!” Joe yelled. He felt hands on him, pulling him away.
Nick sprang into action and had one of them pinned to the wall. Phil, Rick, Vivian and Mal rushed the other guy and a fight broke out with him. Joe shoved the woman harder and she released Sav, stumbling back a few steps she growled at him. Joe caught Sav as he slumped forward. Hoisting him higher into his arms he spun around to face The Elders that made no move stop her.
“Are you trying to kill him?!” Joe shouted at them.
“It was necessary to find out some information.” Armand calmly told him.
“I could have told you what you wanted to know.”
“But you weren’t there Mr. Elliott.” Armand reminded him.
“I’ve shared enough blood with him to know everything that happened.”
Nick had released the man he held and pounced on the other one that was in a stand off with the others.
Armand gave a slight wave of his hand and other guards came forward to surround them. The guys stood their ground with their backs to Joe and Sav, Nick stood beside Phil glaring back at Armand.
“Nicholas, you would give your life to protect these mortals?” he asked.
“Yes, just as I have done so in the past.”
Armand regarded him a moment, then glanced down the table in both directions. “Very well, escort them back to their rooms.”
“We will be in the same room.” Joe angrily informed him.
Armand chuckled at his boldness. “As you wish. Nicholas, you will remain until we have decided your punishment.”
“No…they can’t.” Sav whispered weakly against Joe neck. “Don’t let them hurt him, they’re going to kill him.”
“Nick goes with us.” Joe told them.
Nick turned to look at Joe, then down at Sav.
“He said they were going to kill you.” Joe told him.
Armand felt a touch on his elbow and the one sitting next to him whispered in his ear. Silence stretched amongst the group. “Dismissed.” he said with a wave of his hand.
Nick immediately gathered them out the door. Sav was too weak to walk on his own and Joe carried him. Nick glanced behind him to Joe and saw that Sav had his fangs buried in his neck taking what he needed to regain his strength. Joe’s steps never faltered as he followed Nick and their escort back to his room.
