"Well, she was precious like a flower,
She grew wild, wild but innocent.
A perfect prayer in a desperate hour,
She was everything beautiful and different."

Carrie sighed as she glanced at the sleeping girl that was curled up in the seat next to her, knowing she wasn't gonna be thrilled when she realized who Carrie had been talking to, but knowing that she was doing the right thing. She slowed the car down, pulling to a stop, causing the Texan to stir.
"We're here?" she asked, softly.
"Sort of," Carrie replied.
Kelly's brow furrowed as she looked out through the windshield to where nothing but fields of grass lay, completely untouched by everything else, "Are we lost?"
"Nope," Carrie shook her head, turning the car off and getting out. She popped her trunk, pulling out a blanket and walked back to her car door, leaning in and grabbing her ipod. "Are you coming?"
"Is this some kinda shortcut?" Kelly asked, getting out of the car. "Cause I have to tell you, I think your sense of direction sucks."
"We're not going to the meeting," Carrie informed her as they met in front of the car.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that I called Michael and pushed it back. He said it wasn't anything that had to be done right away, so that it was okay."
"Of course he's gonna agree with you."
Carrie frowned at the bitterness in Kelly's voice in the accusation.
"Sorry," Kelly mumbled.
"It's ok," Carrie shook her head. "You're just cranky."
"I'm fine," Kelly insisted.
"Not you're not," Carrie held out her hand. "Come on."
Kelly eyed it cautiously before taking it in her own and allowing Carrie to guide her across the field.

"You were right by the way," Carrie said as they walked through the long grass.
"About what?"
"My sense of direction does suck," she smiled. "I found this place when I first moved here. I was trying to find the studio, and I ended up out here."
"Nice," Kelly laughed.
Carrie's smile grew at the sound of it, "So you're not too mad about me cancelling the meetings?"
"Meetings?" Kelly asked, stopping. "As in both of them?"
Carrie nodded, her eyes wide with fear.
Kelly sighed deeply, unable to get angry at the look on the country singer's face. "It's fine," she said, starting to walk again.
Carrie let out the breath she was holding.
"Just, please, don't do it again," Kelly said. "I know that your heart was in the right place, but I don't like the fact that you went behind my back. That's one thing I don't stand for. I've been screwed over way too many times by people who did that."
"I swear," Carrie immediately agreed, never meaning to have hurt her.
Kelly gave her hand a gentle squeeze as they came to a halt. Carrie unfolded the blanket, sitting down and patting the spot next to her. Kelly giggled as she joined her, watching as the country singer plugged her ipod into the mini speakers she must have grabbed in her trunk. Carrie laid back as the music filled her ears.
"So what's going on with you Kell?" Carrie asked the Texan who was still sitting, leaning back on her hands.
"So that's what this is about?" Kelly smiled. "Cause for a minute there I thought you were trying to seduce me."
"Trust me," Carrie grinned. "If I was trying to seduce you, you'd know it."
Kelly laughed softly, shaking her head as the soft breeze blew through her hair.
"Kelly..." Carrie urged, placing her hand on Kelly's arm.
Kelly's face softened..
"What's going on?" Carrie asked, sitting up.
"So what all do you have on here?" Kelly asked, reaching over her and picking up her ipod.
Carrie sighed in defeat, laying back down, "Anything that big ole heart of yours can desire."
"You wanna dance?" Kelly grinned, switching it to an upbeat song.
"Dance?" Carrie asked as the Texan stood, kicking off her shoes "We came out here so you'd relax."
"Dancing is relaxing," Kelly informed her.
"Well, you go ahead," Carrie laughed. "I'm fine."
"Suit yourself," Kelly said as she started skipping around the blanket. "But you're missing out."
Carrie watched, smiling at the playful spark that Kelly held in her eyes as she danced around in the tall grass.
"What's so funny?" Kelly asked, curiously.
"That little hop, skip thing you always do."
"What hop, skip thing?"
"You know," Carrie pushed herself up to her feet, trying to show her. "When you kinda skip on one foot...and then sometimes you spin in a circle--"
Kelly quickly reached out, catching the country singer as she tripped, "Smooth."
"Hey, it's not my fault you always look like you're playing hopscotch," she replied, trying to hide her embarrassment at falling into the Texan's arms.
"You're one to talk," Kelly grinned, setting her right.
"And what's that supposed to mean?"
"You see, what I do is called rocking out," Kelly explained, taking Carrie's hands into her own, and spinning them around childishly. "Some songs you can dance to, some songs you just gotta rock out to. You on the other hand..."
"What about me?" Carrie asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You can't dance," Kelly said bluntly.
"Can to!" Carrie fussed, stopping them.
Kelly laughed, dropping her hands, "Girl, I've seen you. You do the same thing every single song."
"What thing?"
"You kinda spread your legs apart," Kelly said, demonstrating. "And you bend your knees, right?"
Carrie frowned, knowing that what the Texan was doing was the exact thing she always did while performing.
"Then you kinda just bounce from side to side," Kelly smiled. "Doesn't matter what song it is. You probably even do it in your ballads if you're standing during them."
"Whatever," Carrie folded her arms indignantly.
"Aw, don't get upset," Kelly patronized. "I can always teach you how to dance if you want."
Carrie sat back down on the blanket, laying on her back, ignoring the other Idol. Kelly immediately joined her, curling into her side.
"What?" Carrie asked, putting her arm around her. "Just because you're cute, I'm not supposed to be mad at you for teasing me?"
"I can hear your heart beat," Kelly smiled, wrapping her arm around Carrie's stomach as she pressed her ear to her chest.
"Oh yea?" Carrie asked, her voice coming out shaky.
"Yea," she nodded, tapping Carrie's side in rhythm with the beats. "It's fast."
"That's cause you stress me out," Carrie replied with a smile
Kelly started to hum along, keeping rhythm to the soft thumping in her ear, trying to slow it down by calming the girl beneath her.
Carrie sighed, realizing she had never been mad at the girl in the first place for teasing her, let alone was still mad at her. She was just too adorable at times. "Damn you."
