Chapter 24: Ready. Set....
Andy rubbed her face in her hands. It was three in the morning and Lynn asked her to pick up some pickles, pineapple, and triple chocolate ice cream. The twenty four hour grocery store knows her by name now because she would be in almost every day getting something for Lynn. Andy was tired, but she knew what she was in for. She remembered the story her dad told her when she was younger of him going to the store for her mom at three in the morning for something when her mom was pregnant with her.
She already expected this would happen. Part of her was loving it, the whole experience. She smiled as she unlocked the front door and walked in. The glow from the TV was on and she shook her head when she saw what movie was playing. She took off her shoes and went into the kitchen to make Lynn a bowl of what she wanted and also to put away everything else.
Lynn's due date was coming up and they decided to move Lynn downstairs that way it would be easier for her. Ethan came over and helped Andy move things to the living room. He and Alex even started staying over some nights, just in case Lynn did go into labor. Also, Lynn not being able to get comfortable at night was also why Andy was tired. Every time she closed her eyes to rest Lynn would move or ask her to do something. Andy knew Lynn would feel bad, but she would reassure her that it was okay. Which it was. Andy really didn't mind. She just wanted Lynn to feel comfortable.
After Andy put everything away and Lynn's bowl was ready, she walked into the living room and smiled at Lynn. Her eyes were glued to the TV and she shook her head. She sat down on the bed and gave Lynn her bowl with a spoon. Lynn thanked her and kissed her cheek and dug right in.
Andy shook her head and got comfortable. She checked her phone to see if anyone called or texted her. The investigation on Serenity was still ongoing and somehow her former agent just vanished into thin air. Andy eventually had to block Alexz's number, because she wouldn't stop blowing up her phone about the show's reboot.
There was talk of Andy doing a photo shoot for a new band for their album. Stacy was keeping them at bay, but has offered Shey to do the shoot. The band really wanted Andy to do it, but after Stacy told them about Lynn about to pop they understood.
It was one thing Serenity never really considered with Andy. She just put Andy to work for a full year and had her break promises. Andy just never thought someone she trusted would do something like this. But then again everything started to make sense.
She shook her head to get rid of those thoughts and put her cell phone back on the charger. She knew Lynn was done and didn't even have to look. She kissed Lynn's temple and took the bowl and spoon away. She got up and went back to the kitchen to rinse the dishes off and put them in the dishwasher. She heard rustling coming from the living room and set the dishes in the sink so she could check on Lynn.
She could tell Lynn was wanting to get up. She rushed over to help her. It was routine at this point. She went to her side of the bed and put Lynn's arm around her neck and then Andy counted to three. They both stood up at the same time. It was then Andy heard a small pop and felt something wet on her feet.
They both stood still then, looked at each other for a moment with wide eyes. They just smiled and shook their heads. Andy told Lynn she might have knocked over the glass of water that she forgot to pick up from this morning. Lynn nodded in agreement and they slowly started to make their way to the downstairs bathroom.
They were halfway to the bathroom when Lynn doubled over.
"Baby, what's wrong?" Andy asked not wanting to drop Lynn on the floor.
"It's time." Lynn said, trying to smile, but she felt another sharp pain.
Andy shook her head, "No, you're not due for another week. It's not time."
Lynn wanted to chuckle but doubled over in pain again, "Get Mila and get the overnight bag. Remember, you planned for this."
Andy nodded, "Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. Let me get you on the couch at least." She helped Lynn to the couch and helped her sit down. After Lynn was settled she rushed up the stairs and started rapidly knocking on Mila's bedroom door.
Andy heard rushed footsteps and didn't even wait until the door was fully opened. She told Mila to get ready and to call everyone. Andy was finishing up what she was saying to Mila and rushed to the master bedroom. Mila called after her asking why, but then her eyes widened when she saw Andy come out of the room with the overnight bag. She just nodded and rushed back into her room to quickly get ready.
Andy rushed down the stairs with Mila right behind her. Mila was on her phone calling everyone on the phone list that Andy and Lynn made for her. Andy gave the bag to Mila, then helped Lynn up from the couch.
"No answer! Come on! One more time!" Mila said, shaking her head.
"Uncle Ethan?" Andy asked opening the side door in the kitchen to get to the Durango.
"Yeah! I'm calling Uncle Alex. Grandma and Grandpa are leaving now. Lola, and Lolo, want you to call them when you can. Come pick up, pick up. Uncle Alex! Mom's in labor! We're leaving for the hospital now! Tell Uncle Ethan to wake up!" Mila nearly shouted into her phone as she closed the door behind her, making sure it's locked.
Andy helped Lynn into the front seat and closed the door. Mila opened up the back passenger side door and climbed into the middle seat since the car seats were installed behind the passenger and the driver seat.
Andy rushed around the Durango and got into the driver side. She started it up and made sure her phone was connected. Lynn called her doctor and told her they were on their way to the hospital. Andy started to back out of the small driveway and called the hospital.
All three were having three conversations once Andy was finally on the road. She was also the first one to end her call. Thank goodness for Bluetooth she would always say. She wanted to speed towards the hospital but she knew she couldn't. It wasn't long until she noticed a car was following them.
"Mila, did you call everyone?" Andy asked.
"Pretty much. Everyone said they're on their way right now. Well Hayley said to video chat when you can. She's calling Zac and Taylor right now. Kara said she and Wendy will handle any press if there is any." Mila told them, still trying to wake up.
Andy nodded and looked in her rear view mirror, keeping an eye on the car behind them. She couldn't make out the car, she hoped it was Alex and Ethan since they lived so close. She had one hand on the steering wheel and one hand in Lynn's hand.
"You got this baby, we're almost there. Just keep breathing like we practiced." Andy said in a calming voice. Lynn started to take deep breaths in and out. Mila was answering text messages and phone calls from their circle of friends. Andy was keeping calm on the outside. On the inside she was freaking out. Twins! When they said there were two heartbeats at the wedding it was just a possibility sometimes it was an echo.
When they noticed Lynn was growing bigger than normal they asked at her doctor's office and that's when it was confirmed she was having twins. Even Andy's friend Nina knew they were going to have twins. Every conversation they've had since has been Nina asking about Lynn and how the babies were doing. Andy would shrug her off and tell her for now they're just looking at one baby.
Now here they were, about to have twins. Andy was trying so hard to keep her cool together. She had to be calm for Lynn's sake.
Andy pulled up to the hospital and she could see Ethan and Alex standing there with smiles. Now she was even more confused because the car behind them was still behind them. She shook the thought out of her mind and parked by the entrance. Andy put the Durango in park and Ethan was right there. Alex was helping Lynn out of the Durango, as Mila rushed in to get a nurse.
"Go, I'll go park your car." Ethan said and Andy nodded. She rushed out of the car and went to help Alex with Lynn. As the nurse was coming out with Mila and a wheel chair and saw a flash of light. She looked and saw a photographer snapping pictures.
"You have got to be fucking kidding me! Alex get her inside!" Andy said, rushing towards the photographer.
"Andy don't!" Lynn called but she was into much pain to stop the nurse from taking inside with the wheelchair.
The photographer was trying to get back into the car and Andy grabbed the camera and broke it in half. He knew he was in for it. He heard rumors about Andy being ruthless and to not take legal action against her. He just had to see it for himself.
She grabbed him by the collar and held him against his car, "Who do you work for?!"
Before he could give her an answer David and Kara rushed up to them. "What's going on?" Kara asked.
"This guy followed us all the way from my fucking house to here! He was taking pictures of Lynn going into the hospital! I broke his camera, but I need to know who he works for and how long has he been outside of my fucking home!" She slammed him against the car and he kept telling her to stop.
David grabbed a hold of him, "Andy get inside, I'll take care of him. Kara you too."
"No I have to stay here and get answers from him. I'm calling Steven, as well as the cops. I might be able to get him on stalking charges." Kara said, pulling out her cell phone from her back pocket.
"No, please! I'm sorry! I'll tell you everything!" The photographer said.
Kara took Andy by the arm and David took over holding the man against the car. Once they were out of earshot Kara saw Ethan rushing up to them.
"Ethan get her inside to Lynn, David and I have to clear up something. We'll be in shortly." Kara told him and he just nodded.
Andy took a deep breath and walked into the hospital with Ethan trying to keep up behind her. He wanted to but this was all about Lynn. They rushed up to the nurses stations and asked where Lynn was. The young nurse asked what relation she was to Lynn and Ethan jumped in and answered the question.
He could tell Andy was still a little heated from that scuffle he saw from the parking lot. The young nurse smiled and directed them to where Lynn would be. With a quick thank you to the nurse they rushed to the stairwell.
"You know there's an elevator!" Ethan called up to Andy trying to catch his breath. They were only on the second floor and had two more to go.
"We're halfway there! Take the elevator if you can't keep up dickweed!" She called down to him as she saw the sign for the third floor.
Ethan wanted to call back to her but he just waved her off and found the door to get out of the stairwell. "I need to get back into shape, holy shit." He said as he walked up to the elevator and pushed the button. He sighed as the elevator doors opened and he walked in. He tapped the number four and the doors closed. He shook his head knowing that Andy would already be in the room by now. With what's going on, he just knew her adrenaline was pumping really hard.
The doors opened and he looked around. He saw a small waiting room and walked towards it. He knew he was in the right spot when he saw Angel pacing back and forth. He walked in and shook his head, still trying to catch his breath.
"Babe, you okay?" Alex asked coming up to him.
He nodded, "Yeah, Andy took the stairs and I got to the second floor and couldn't do it anymore." He said, taking a seat.
"Looks like you and I need to hit the gym soon." He joked and kissed his fiance's cheek. Ethan just smiled and took his hand in his.
"I take it Andy's in the room with Lynn?" Ethan asked and Brian nodded his head. Just then Melissa, Erika, David, Wendy, and Kara came into the waiting room.
"Any news?" Erika asked.
Everyone shook their heads, "It's still early. They just got Lynn into a room about ten minutes ago. All we have to do now is wait." Angel explained, still pacing back and forth. Mila went over to Ethan and Alex and sat next to Alex.
"Do you guys think we can create a welcome home for the babies?" Mila asked.
"I don't see why not. Let's see what happens tonight, and we can all go and get everything ready." Alex said with a smile and Mila returned it.
Meanwhile in the room, Lynn was surrounded by nurses making sure she was okay. Andy was putting on everything the RN told her to put on. After she was able to put everything on she was instructed to wash her hands. She smiled remembering how she had to wash her hands at one of the restaurants she worked at every other five minutes because of the inspection they had.
After the RN was satisfied she led her into the room and Andy made a beeline to Lynn. She stood on the side of the bed and grabbed her hand.
"I'm here baby, I'm right here." She said softly kissing Lynn's sweaty forehead.
"Okay, you're almost ready to start pushing. Dr. Andrews will be here shortly. I'll grab you some ice chips." The young woman said.
"Thank you." Andy said and all Lynn could do was nod.
"Everyone's here. They're waiting to meet the little ones. You're doing so great. You're so strong you got this. Break my hand if you need to. I'm here every step of the way. I love you so much." Andy reassured her wife.
Lynn could feel the tears well up behind her eyes, Not because of the pain, but because she couldn't believe how lucky she was. She never thought she would be able to have someone so understanding and so patient. Even with her always working on music, and just being able to be there no matter what. She wanted to say the words but she felt a contraction and let out a small slight scream. She gripped Andy's hand and could hear Andy telling her to breathe and how great she was doing.
They were in for a long night. They knew it. They both were also hoping the babies were healthy and that nothing was wrong.
The door opened and a woman in her mid fifties walked in with a smile. "Are we ready?" She asked as she sat on a stool and wheeled over to the end of Lynn's bed. She looked for a few moments and smiled even bigger at the both of them.
"You're nearly there. Just a bit more and you'll be ready to push. Are you two ready to meet your babies?" She asked.
They both nodded. Lynn gave a weak smile and Andy just kissed Lynn's forehead again. Then, Andy asked if she could let her friends, and family know what's going on. The RN nodded and went for the door. But Dr. Andrews stopped her and told her that Lynn was ready to push.
Andy looked at her wife, "Ready?"
Lynn looked at Andy and nodded, "Let's meet our little ones."
"Okay Lynn, get ready to push in three, two, one.....PUSH!"
*****************************************************************************************************
"It's been too long. I hope everything is okay." Angel said looking at the clock it was already ten in the morning. Every once and while some one would doze off and then wake up. Wendy was updating her parents every hour. Tim and Cathy were sitting with a sleeping Mila. They were worried for their daughter of course. Cathy reassured everyone that the first labor was the hardest. But having twins the first time would be a little longer.
Brian smiled at his wife, "Just wait until August. We'll be going through the same thing." He said putting a gentle hand on Angel's baby bump.
She smiled at her husband, "I can't wait. I'm so excited for them to grow up together. All of us are here together. Everything is just so perfect, I'm so scared something's going to happen."
"Let's enjoy this while we can. We've all been through so much. It's finally a little peaceful. Hopefully it will stay that way for a while." He leaned in and the two kissed softly.
As they pulled apart Andy entered the waiting room looking very tired and removed her cap. Everyone stood up and Cathy gently woke up Mila telling her Andy was here with some news. Mila shot up and rushed over to Andy and gave her a hug.
"How's mom?"
"Is Lynn okay?"
"Are the twins here?"
"Boys or girls? Or one of each?"
Andy chuckled and held up her hand to calm everyone down. She still had her arm around Mila and cleared her throat.
"Yes, the twins are here. Lynn did amazing. I can't even explain how amazing she did. We are happy to announce that Crystal Aurilea, and Judith Gertrude Hill are both healthy and we can take them home in a few days."
"Girls?! Twin girls?!" Angel said, trying to not let her tears fall. She was so happy for her best friend.
Ethan went up to his best friend and gave her a tight hug. Mila was still holding onto Andy and Ethan even put his arm around her.
Wendy was next. She gave her big sister a hug as well as her niece. When they let go everyone else came up to her and hugged her.
Andy smiled, "Thank you all for being here. Lynn said that she loves each and every one of you. She's just really tired and they want to keep her here for a few days, because she is just really exhausted. So they want her to rest up. Wendy can you call mom and dad. Also, someone needs to call Brandon. I just got all of his text messages." She finished with a chuckle.
"I'll call Brandon." Ethan said with a smile.
"I'll call Hayley." David told her and gave her a nod.
"Thank you guys. Um, so we can't have all of y'all meet them just yet. They're making sure the girls are okay. But once they're done I'll come get y'all and we can go to the viewing part." She said and they all nodded.
She turned to Mila and smiled, "But you can come and meet your sisters. Are you ready?"
Mila smiled and nodded, "I've been ready!"
Everyone chuckled and smiled. Andy told them she would come get them in a little bit. She took Mila's hand and they left the waiting room.
"Wow! Andy's going to have her hands full! Twin girls! She's in for a lot!" Melissa said with a small laugh.
"I'm sure they'll give a statement in the next few days. Does Stacy know what's going on?" Kara asked.
Erika was just about to say something with Stacy came rushing in out of breath, "Are they okay?! I got here as soon as I could. That band just wouldn't shut up about how they wanted to meet Lynn and Andy."
Melissa smiled, "They're fine. Two healthy girls."
"Oh good. I'm glad Lynn's okay. I'm not going to put this on blast yet. I just had to come down here soon as I got your text. I also could use some advice about this band. The lead singer seems really into Lynn and it's really concerning." She told Melissa.
"How about we meet up tomorrow morning for some coffee. We can all discuss it then. Andy and Lynn don't need any more drama right now." Kara said and they all agreed.
Brian and Angel looked at each other with knowing looks. This is what they were afraid of. They just hoped it wouldn't hinder anything for their friends.
***********************************************************************************************************
"Those two right there in the second row next to each other." Andy said with a smile looking into the room. After about two hours she was able to get everyone to go to the viewing room.
Cathy was right next to her and gently took her arm, "Andy they're beautiful."
Andy nodded, "Lynn did all the work. But she did sprain my hand. I have to wear a soft cast for a while."
"Well, she does have a good grip." Tim said with a soft chuckle and patted Andy on the back.
"Oh she's asking for you both. She's in room four oh eight." She told them. They nodded and smiled giving her a couple more gentle pats.
"So who was your donor?" Angel asked.
Andy shrugged, "I'm not sure. We went through the ones that wanted to stay anonymous. What we do know is that he has green eyes, healthy, six two, athletic build, brown hair. Good medical background. I was away when we were trying to find the right donor. Lynn would just send me information. I told her to pick which everyone she felt right with. She did this all on her own and I just feel bad that I wasn't there to help her."
"But you're here now. You've been there since the start and you're here now. I'm sure she's glad you're here." David told his sister in law.
Andy wiped her eyes and nodded, "Yeah, I know. I just have that guilt feeling I guess. But I know I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. Not when I know she needs me now more than ever."
"We're not going on tour for a while. Plus switching labels is going to take a process. But they're so understanding of what's going on with Lynn that they want to wait until June to sign." Alex said with a smile.
"Angel, aren't you due in August?" Andy asked, turning to her and Brian.
"Yeah, but after they sign the label said they would wait a little longer to get the ball rolling. Plus Lynn said she already has demos to go through. Apparently the EP is ready to go." Angel told her, then looked at Brian.
He nodded, "Yup, we just have to tweak it a little bit in the studio and we'll be ready to send it in."
"Okay enough business talk, go to your wife. I'm sure she's wondering what's taking you so long." Wendy said to her sister.
Andy nodded, "Yeah, thank you all again for being here. I'm sure you want to go home and get some rest."
"You're welcome. If you two need anything just let us know. We'll all come by later." Kara said.
Andy nodded, "Thank you, we'll call or text. I'll see y'all soon." She gave everyone a hug and started to make her way back to the room.
They're world just changed for the better and Andy could help but think of this new adventure. She wanted this bliss to last, But she knew something was on its way to ruin it. However, she didn't want to think about that right now.
She had different priorities and she wouldn't change it for a thing at this point. She smiled once she got into the room seeing Lynn's parents with her wife and Mila was on the foot of the bed beaming at Lynn with pride.
"We're so proud of you. The girls look so beautiful!" Tim said, giving his daughter a gentle kiss on her forehead. Cathy nodded mirroring her husband's actions.
There was a knock at the door and Dr. Andrews came in followed by a couple of the nurses with the twins in tow.
"I'm sure Grandma and Grandpa would like to meet their granddaughters." Dr. Andrews said with a smile. The nurses wheeled the twins on either side of the bed and Tim and Cathy had huge smiles on their faces seeing their granddaughters for the first time.
Andy made her way to the side of Lynn's bed and took her hand in hers. She kissed her cheek and looked lovingly at her wife. She was about to tell her something but Dr. Andrews spoke up.
"The girls look good. They do have a low birth weight, but it's not too low to be concerned about. From here it's a lot of bonding time. You should be ready to go in a few days. I'll go ahead and schedule your next few appointments for follow ups. I understand both of you are taking time off from work?" She asked looking at the couple.
"Yes and no. Lynn's able to work from home, and I'm on paid vacation for a while. But I still do some side work every now and then." Andy explained.
Dr. Andrews nodded and made a note on her piece of paper on her clipboard. She looked up and smiled, "You should be ready to go in in a couple of days. It's just procedure to keep you and the babies here to monitor your health."
Lynn nodded, "Understandable. I'm still a little tired, and I could use something to eat." She said looking at Andy.
Tim spoke up, "Oh, honey, we can go grab you and Andy something to eat. Mila would you like to go with us?"
"You bet! I'm starving!" Mila said hopping off the bed and then looked at Lynn, "I have to meet Uncle Alex and Uncle Ethan anyway. We have something planned for my sisters!" She told her moms and then gave Lynn a kiss on her cheek.
Tim and Cathy gave their daughter a kiss on her cheek and then hugged Andy. They left the room and Dr. Andrews looked back at them both.
"I just wanted to go over some things with you both. Seeing as this is your first birth and everything, I want to let you know we have all the resources you need should you have any questions. Especially with you two having such high profiles. I know your first concern is for the safety of your family. I can assure everyone here has signed a NDA. So if anything were to get out we would be conducting a thorough investigation." Dr. Andrews explained.
They both thanked her and nodded. They were concerned about the safety of their family. Especially with what just happened when they entered the hospital earlier.
"Now, you both want to have them vaccinated correct?"
"Absolutely."
"Yes, very much so."
They both answered and Dr. Andrews smiled and nodded, "Okay, I'll get those in order. I'll go ahead and get your paperwork ready. Everything looks good and I'll be back in a little while to check on you. Congratulations again. I'll see you in a bit." She finished with a smile and left the couple with their newborns.
Andy smiled, "Which one do you want?" She asked Lynn.
"I'll take Crystal." Lynn said softly and nodded nodded. Andy went to Crystal's little crib and picked her up. She smiled and handed her to Lynn. Then she turned to Judith's and picked her up. The two mom's cradled their daughters and smiled.
Andy sat next to Lynn and she just couldn't stop smiling, "Hey little one mama here. I'm going to make sure you both will be loved and taken care of. Your mom will do the same. So will your big sister. You have a big family already and they can't wait to meet you."
Lynn couldn't help but let a tear fall listening to Andy talk to them. She still couldn't believe how lucky she was. Today started a new chapter in their lives. She was scared, but she knew she would be in good hands. She never pictured her life this way. She always pictured her touring, making music, doing what she loves. Then, Andy turned that corner and her world took a turn for the better. She didn't think she would want that typical house, wife, and kids, until now. This was a dream come true that she didn't know she had until now. She couldn't wait for the next chapter.
***************************************************************************************************************
"They're here! Remember don't yell it! Whisper it!" Angel said, backing away from the door.
Lynn and the twins were released today and everyone was over at their town home ready to surprise them. Andy's parents even took a trip to come up and see the twins and to help with them. It was mostly Susan's idea. She couldn't wait to see her granddaughters for the first time. When Andy called and told them what they named them she could feel the tears come to her eyes.
Andy told them she does want to take a trip to Virginia so her Lola could meet her great granddaughters. Susan was really proud of her oldest. She may not say it enough, but she really was. She was brought out of her thoughts when they heard the door open and in walked Lynn carrying Judith and right behind her was Andy carrying Crystal.
"Surprise!" Everyone quietly yelled and Lynn looked surprised seeing her friends and family there. Andy looked up and saw her parents and smiled.
The house was decorated in pink streamers, pink balloons, a banner saying "CONGRATULATIONS" as well as balloons saying "It's Twins" or "It's a girl!'
"I was wondering why they were pink ribbons on the railings outside." Andy said with a chuckle walking further in.
Kevin and Susan came up to them and without hesitation Lynn and Andy handed over a twin to them. Andy helped Lynn to the couch and told her she would get everything else from the car. But Brian and David stopped her and said they would get everything.
"So since you didn't really have a baby shower, we're throwing one right now. It was mostly Mila's idea. Anyway, everything's taken care of. Even the food. Now, don't worry about a thing the next couple of weeks. We've taken care of everything." Stacy said with a smile.
"Wow, thank you. Thank you all for everything. You really didn't have to go all out." Andy said, looking around the living room.
"It's no problem. You both have done a lot for us, it's the least we could do." Angel said, gently squeezing her hand.
"Okay now, let's get to opening the presents!" She said, and rushed over to the table that had gifts on it. Mila came up to Andy and Lynn and they just smiled and moved over so she could sit next to them.
"So you're a big sister, how does that feel?" Lynn asked, putting her arm around Mila.
"Gotta be honest I'm excited, yet scared, but I'm going to be the best big sister ever!" She said to her moms and they both chuckled and nodded believing her.
"When everything dies down today, we would like to give you something." Andy said, winking at her.
"I can't wait." Mila said, with a smile.
The day went on with the small party. Everyone got a chance to hold the twins, but it got to the point where Lynn had to take them and fed them. She and Andy went upstairs to the nursery. Andy did happen to come back and make some changes to the room. She couldn't wait for Lynn to see what she did.
Lynn opened the door and looked around in shock, "Oh my. Andy! When were you able to do this?"
Andy smiled coming up behind her, "You were so sound asleep the other night, I called Ethan to help me pick out the letters, and the frames. I wanted to make sure this still had a warm feeling to it. So their names are in different colors, along with some pictures of us as babies. I was able to get a hold of some pictures of Mila when she was young, and she picked out which ones she wanted framed."
Lynn shook her head, "I don't know what I did to deserve you. You're too good for us. I love you so much."
Andy turned to her wife, "I love you. I can't wait to see where this new chapter takes us." The two gave each a soft kiss when Crystal started to get a little fussy. They pulled away and chuckled.
"Okay looks like the youngest wants to go first." Lynn said as she sat in the rocking chair and got settled. Andy put Judith in her crib and turned to Lynn.
"Want some company?" Andy asked as she went over to the baby monitor and turned it on.
"No thank you, think I just want some time alone with the girls. We've been around everyone the last few days, I think this will be nice." Lynn said and Andy agreed,
"Okay, want some music?" She asked and Lynn nodded and she watched Andy walk over to a small stereo and turned it on. She smiled when the soft music started to play. She grabbed the other baby monitor and went over to Lynn and kissed her forehead.
"Let me know if you need anything, I'll tell everyone to leave you alone so you can have some peace."
"Thank you. I'll see you in a bit." Lynn said softly, then she watched Andy walk out of the room. Again, she didn't turn back. One of these days Lynn will get her to turn back. It would happen. She chuckled at the thought.
She was also worried about postpartum, but she knew she had a great support system. She and Andy even had this conversation about three months before the twins were born. It was an intense one, but one that needed to be had. They decided to sign up for therapy sessions twice a month. One session together, and one session by themselves. They have already started and they have their session together next week.
She even had Dr. Samson, and Dr. Andrews on call just in case she couldn't talk to any of her friends or family. She just wanted to make sure she would be okay. Andy's been wonderful the last couple of years, but sometimes having someone on the outside of their friends and family would help too. Another thing they did agree on was to not take any anti depressants. Both have had horrible experiences with them, and they even told their therapist. He was very understanding and he agreed not to prescribe them anything unless it was a herbal remedy.
She sighed with a smile and looked at Crystal and couldn't help but feel joy and love. She would have to call Andy back up to help burp her so she could feed Judith. This was also the first time that Andy didn't really have a plan for the twins. Andy always planned out everything, but when it came to the twins Andy had no clue what to plan. Didn't even do a feeding schedule.
Lynn asked her about that last week and all Andy said was that they couldn't really plan a schedule around babies. They would just have to figure out things as they went along, and when they got older and sign up for classes and everything they would come up for something.
But right now, Lynn was enjoying the peace and quiet, she knew it wouldn't last for very long and she just smiled looking down at her daughter and couldn't help but feel amazing. This was a journey she wasn't ready for. But yet, she was.
***************************************************************************************************************
It was two in the morning and both twins were screaming their lungs out. Andy shot up and groaned. She rubbed her face in her hands and sniffled. She threw the covers off of her and swung her legs over. She reached over to her night stand and put on her t-shirt. She cleared her throat and stood up from the bed.
"I can get them babe." She heard Lynn say and saw as she got up.
"No, it's okay, I got it. You get some sleep. You came to be an hour ago. I got this." Andy said with a tired smile and walked out of the room.
Lynn laid back down and heard Andy on the monitor.
"Hey, hey, hey, now, what's all this fussing about?" She heard and then the twins started to calm down.
"Okay, looks like Judy needs to be changed. Crystal, I'm guessing you need to be changed too. Let's have a look."
Lynn just couldn't help but smile hearing Andy calming down the twins. She heard rustling and tried to hide her laughter when she heard Andy groan.
"I have no idea what your mom is feeding you, but good golly!"
Lynn knew Andy didn't want to say cuss words around the twins. Andy mentioned she didn't want their first words to be any cuss words. So Andy started to say things like good golly, and other silly things that would be said in a cartoon.
"Okay, Judy, you feel better? Now it's your sister's turn."
Mila's voice came on the monitor, "Everything okay mama?"
"Yeah, kiddo, the twins just needed to be changed that's all. I'm sorry they woke you."
"It's okay. I wanted a drink of milk anyway. Do you want anything?"
"I'll take a cup of apple juice."
"Okay, I'll be right back."
Lynn's heart just kept swelling up with love. She knew Andy and Mila have been very careful around her because they knew she was acting differently. There were days where she didn't want to get out of bed so they would take care of the twins, and Mila would come home from school and sit with her for a while. She would tell her about her day, and even do her homework with Lynn.
Andy would be busy with the twins and would make them dinner. Sometimes they would eat dinner in the bedroom, just so Lynn wouldn't feel alone. Lynn knew what was going on with her, she just didn't know it would be affecting her like this. She hoped it would pass soon.
She was brought out of her thoughts when Mila's voice came back on the monitor.
"Want me to put it by the rocking chair for now?"
"That would be great, Crystal's fighting me right now. Okay, young lady, mama doesn't need your sassy legs right now."
Mila laughed, "Really doesn't like her diaper being changed huh?"
"I think it's cause she was warm, now she's cold again. No! No! No! No!"
"Oh my God! Ew! I only ever saw that happen in movies!"
"Can you get her other onesie from the drawer, this one has pee all over it now."
"Yeah, wow, never thought I would see that happen in real life."
"Same here kiddo. Okay, Crystal let's get you cleaned up."
Lynn heard rustling again and then a happy sigh from Andy.
"There you go nice and dry. Now let's lay you back down."
"So what made you and mom pick their names?"
"Pretty simple really. I have this tradition in my family to keep a family name. So like my dad his middle name is Bethel which I think is my great great grandfather's name. Uncle Chris's middle name is Keast which was my great grandma's maiden name. So I always said when I have my first daughter her name will be Crystal Aurilea after my dad's mom and my mom's mom. Your mom liked that idea and decided to do the same. Judith after her dad's mom, and Gertrude, after her mom's mom." Lynn heard Andy explain.
"What about when you two decide to try again and the baby is a boy?" Mila asked.
"Well, I would like to name him Zane Jesus. Jesus sounds like Jessie, but spelled like Jesus. But also Lynn would have a say. I'm not sure what she wants to name a son. But that's further down the road. We don't have to worry about it now." Lynn could hear the smile in Andy's voice.
"But are you able to get some sleep? I know the girls have been screaming almost every night." Andy said.
"Yeah, I wake up when I hear them. Of course I want to make sure they're okay. I hear you or mom get up and get them. Then, I go right back to sleep. But what about you two? I know you both must be tired."
"I'm okay, I'm sure your mom is tired. Twins are a lot, but we're getting through it. But I know we both cherish every moment when they're this young so we could make memories. By the way, thank you for spending time with mom. I know she's going through a lot right now with the postpartum. I know she's been enjoying you being there with her after school. It's one of the highlights of her day."
"I love doing it. She tells me stories about her younger days, and stories about you two. She even helps me with my art homework. I love you both and I'm just so glad to be part of this family."
"We love you and we're so glad you are able to be with us. Don't forget we're going down to Virginia a week before your summer vacation. So when the time comes, we need you to get all your school work done ahead of time."
"Already on it. I'm already ahead in History, English, and Algebra. P.E. class is whatever. Could you help me with some Anatomy though? I have a B right now but I would like to get it to an A. It's just the tests are harder than I thought."
Andy chuckled, "Sure, we can create flash cards and start working on those this weekend. Now go get some sleep. You got school in the morning."
Lynn heard shuffling knowing that the two were hugging.
"I love you, good night."
"I love you kiddo, get some rest. Oh by the way did you like your gift we got you? I never got a chance to ask."
"Yeah, when I wore the shirt to school my friends kept saying they were happy for me. I was wondering this summer could you teach me how to throw a baseball? I've been wanting to learn about sports for a while."
"You got it kiddo. Now go get some sleep."
"Night mama."
"Night"
After a few moments Lynn heard Mila's door close and then she heard Andy sigh.
"Okay, you two. Try to sleep. Good night, I love you both."
Moments later Andy returned to the master bedroom with her half cup of apple juice. She sat on the bed and drank the rest of it. She set the cup down on her night stand and then, took off her shirt. She put it on her night stand just in case she had to get up again. She laid down with a sigh and Lynn moved closer to her. Andy put her arm around her and kissed the top of her head.
It's only been a few weeks but things seem to be going well. Of course there's always something that would go wrong. But they were just starting out this chapter in their lives and things were going perfectly. They couldn't ask for a better way to start.
***************************************************************
The next morning Andy woke up to a rapid beeping and the smell of something burning, "Oh no!" She said she quickly put on her shirt and rushed down the stairs. She found Lynn in the kitchen opening the window trying to get the smoke out and the twins were crying. She quickly grabbed a dish towel and started to wave the smoke away from the smoke detector.
"Babe, are you okay?" Andy asked and finally took a good look at Lynn. She gave her a heartfelt smile seeing her wife's tear streaked cheeks.
"I was just trying to make you a good breakfast." Lynn said as she started to cry again.
Andy couldn't help but smile and went up to her wife and put her arms around her, "It's okay. We can make breakfast together. Let's get the twins to calm down and I can help you." Andy said and she felt Lynn nod against her chest.
Andy kissed the top of Lynn's head and smiled. She gave her a gentle squeeze. The twins were still crying and Andy knew it was time to let go even though she didn't want to.
"Okay, I'll clean up. You take care of the twins and we'll make breakfast." She let go of Lynn and her wife just nodded.
Andy gave her a light kiss and started to clean up the burnt mess Lynn made. She smiled seeing the pack of bacon, the carton of eggs, and the loaf of bread. She knew Lynn was trying to make her favorite breakfast and just the the pan too hot and burnt some of the eggs.
They got everything under control and Andy was helping Lynn with breakfast. When Lynn was comfortable enough Andy let her finish up the cooking and she started to make a pot of coffee.
"Oh by the way I think Ethan and Alex are stopping by, they said they have a few things to tell us. I think Angel and Brian are coming over too." Lynn said flipping over some bacon slices.
"Do you think it's about their wedding? I know they've been trying to figure out where they're going to have it." Andy said getting a mug out of the cupboard. Lynn wasn't allowed to have any caffeine for a while since she was breastfeeding.
"It could be. Can you grab plates? I mean, Alex said he doesn't care where they have their wedding. He just wants to have it all done already." Lynn said as Andy grabbed a couple of plates from the cupboard.
"Oh, remember how we had to make sure this place was truly bought by Serenity?" Andy asked as the coffee pot beeped.
"Don't tell me she cheated the agency." Lynn said with a sigh placing some bacon on the plate then adding more to the pan.
"Well, I talked to Kyle yesterday, and Serenity DID put this place on the agency's account. Which is a huge no. I asked him what can we do because we were under the impression that this place was ours." Andy explained taking out some silverware for them.
"What did he say?" Lynn asked turning off the stove, and then putting the used pans in the sink. Andy was setting up the kitchen table for them and the twins.
"He said that he's going to take care of it. He'll pay out of pocket if he has too. Since we've been through way too much at this point. He doesn't want us to face any legal issues. So he's going to do the paperwork. Mail it to us to have a look over and once we sign it we'll officially own this place. Like OWN it. We won't owe anything to anyone. I mean, if anything were to happen we still have the house in Georgia." Andy explained getting the twins settled.
Lynn started to set up their plates, and brought them over to the kitchen table. Then, she went over to Andy to help bring the twins over. So they could keep an eye on them.
"Well what about Brandon and Brittany? Don't they live together now?" Lynn asked getting settled in her seat "Oh babe, before you sit down, can you bring me a glass of orange juice?"
Andy chuckled and nodded. She opened the refrigerator, and got the orange juice out. Then, brought over a glass to the table and poured Lynn some. She kept the orange juice on the table in case Lynn wanted more.
"Yeah, they do. But Brandon mentioned that they wanted a place of their own and they wanted to get it on their own. They'll still use it, but it's mostly in my Uncle Chris's name." Andy said finally sitting down so they can enjoy their breakfast.
They continued to talk about what they wanted to do with the town house and the house down in Georgia. Both never thought they would be discussing things like this before. They both felt so grown up. But yet still young at heart. Of course there were still things they wanted to do, like travel, and go out with their friends. But they knew they had more important things to do now.
This was part of life. Discussing things to help better their future, and to just see what they wanted to do. Of course the could call this place their own, but at the same time it was given to them. Andy did bring up that she never really did anything on her own expect get that apartment with Ethan. She's gotten jobs on her own, cars on her own. But never really a place to call home.
Lynn listened intently to what Andy was saying was really shocked that she would say things like that. She knew Andy did a lot of stuff on her own, but her wife just didn't see that way. She hoped one day she would be able to show her that she got this far, with help, but also on her own.
They were just finishing up breakfast when they heard Ethan and Alex call out their names. Andy said they were in the kitchen and the two walked in and smiled.
"Are Brian and Angel here yet?" Ethan asked sitting down at the kitchen table stealing a piece of toast.
"No, not yet. They did say they were on their way." Andy said picking up the their empty plates and then standing up to take them over to the sink. She started to clean up and Alex sat next to Lynn.
"We want to tell you guys a few things and we want everyone together." Alex said with a smile. He was beaming with excitement and he couldn't wait to tell his friends.
"Is it about the wedding?" Andy called over as she started to do the dishes.
"Yes and no." Ethan said with his mouth half full of toast.
"Okay well, I need to feed the twins, I'll be right back. Alex can you grab Crystal, and I'll take Judith." Lynn said and Alex nodded. He smiled picking up his Goddaughter. He gave Ethan a quick kiss and followed Lynn up the stairs.
Ethan stood up and walked over to the sink and started to help Andy with the dishes. They joked with each other for a little while and then Andy switch the topic.
"How's the gym and diet working out for you two?" Andy asked closing up the dish washer.
Ethan shrugged, "It sucks. I mean, I get we want to fit in our suites for the wedding, but all I want is nachos, candy, tacos, pizza, just like everything we used to eat. Now that were on this diet, I'm hungry all the time. Even the snacks we got aren't helping me. How did you do it?" He asked crossing his arms and leaning against the counter island.
Andy turned around and mirrored his stance, "I just told myself that I want to look good, and feel better about myself. I just wanted to not be who I was when I gained those two hundred pounds. I hated myself. So, every time I ate something that I didn't like, I knew it was going to help me be healthier in the long run."
"What about your cheat days? What did you eat?"
Andy shrugged, "Mostly a burger, or a bag of potato chips and that was it. It'll get to the point where you're going to start thinking that it's not good anymore. Try to stay as active as you can. Keep moving." She wanted to say more but she gave him a weird look.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"I'll be right back, I didn't brush my teeth this morning and my mouth feels horrible." She said as Ethan rolled his eyes. She left the kitchen and went up the stairs to brush her teeth. Just then Brian and Angel walked through the front door and called out.
Ethan came out of the kitchen and greeted them. He told them where everyone was and that they would be down shortly. They nodded and all three made themselves at home in the living room, waiting for everyone to come back down.
Ethan couldn't wait to tell everyone their news.
***************************************************************************************************************
After about a couple of hours the friends were gathered in the living room. The twins finally went to sleep and now Ethan and Alex were standing in front of them with smiles.
"Okay, so we do have a couple of announcements we would like to share. The first one is, we finally picked out where we would like to get married." Alex started to say.
"We wanted to take a page out of Lynn and Andy's book, kind of meet halfway with our families. So we decided to get married in Chicago!" Ethan said with a big smile.
Andy looked a little confused, "But isn't that a little closer to Ethan's family? What about your family and friends in Virginia?"
"Ah, yes we thought about that too. We both did discuss that. Here's the plan, we have a wedding in Chicago for those who can make it, and then we go to Virginia have another wedding for those who couldn't make the Chicago one." Alex said.
"Okay, makes sense, but are you two able to afford it?" Angel asked.
They looked at each other and smiled, "Well, turns out my Grandfather left me a huge inheritance when he passed away."
"Wait, put he passed away like five years ago." Andy said.
Ethan nodded, "Yes, he did, but my mom found his will and let's just say I don't have to work for a while. So we're about to have two weddings and be able to have all of our friends and family with us."
"Onto the next announcement." Alex smiled with his eyes gleaming with pride. He took Ethan's hand in his and looked at him. Ethan turned to him and nodded.
"We're here to invite you to our house warming party next week." Alex said.
"Wait, what?!" Brian said nearly jumping out of his seat.
"As of next week we will be homeowners just a little outside of the city. We found a cute four bedroom, three bath, and it's perfect." Ethan said smile. Everyone stood up and went up to them to congratulate them on their house.
"Okay, the real question now. What about the date?" Andy asked looking at them.
"June fourth of next year. The day we made it official." Alex said with a smile.
Andy walked over to the bar and opened the cabinet. She took out four glasses and a bottle of Jack Daniels and poured a little bit in each glass. She came back and gave one to Brian, Ethan, Alex, and one for herself.
"Here's to a new chapter for you both. Lynn, and Angel I wish I could pour you two one, but with Lynn breastfeeding, and Angel not being able to drink. I'm just being careful." Andy said with a smile.
Angel waved her off, "It's okay. I'll drink in spirit."
"Same here. I'm so happy for you both." Lynn said putting her arm around Andy.
"To Alex and Ethan." Andy said the three others repeated her words.
Everything seemed to be going so well. Andy had a feeling something was going to happen, but she had to put that feeling away. She wanted to enjoy everything. The twins would be one by the time Ethan and Alex's wedding came around. Mila would be fifteen going on sixteen by then. Things were perfect.
*********************************************************************************
"Andrea!" Nina yelled waking up with a start. She threw the covers off of her and swung her legs over. She had a cold sweat. Her friend was in danger she could feel it. She had to call her. She looked at the time. Her clock read seven fifteen in the morning. It would be around six in the evening Andy's time. But it didn't matter. She needed to call Andrea right now.
She grabbed her cell phone and dialed Andrea's number. "Please pick up, please pick up." She said under her breath. She was about to give up until she heard her friend's voice.
"Nina? Is everything okay?" Nina heard. Andy knew she wouldn't call, unless it was something important.
"Andy, is there a place where you can go so you can be alone."
"Uh, yeah hang on a second." Andy said. Nina heard her friend telling someone she would be right back. She really had to take this call.
"Okay, Nina why do I get the feeling you're about to tell me something bad is about to happen." Andy said.
"Andrea, are you about to take a job for a photo shot for a new band?" Nina asked.
"Um, we're in talks about it. But no papers have been signed yet. Nina what's going on?"
Nina sighed and stood up. She started pacing back and forth in her room trying to find the words to tell her oldest friend. She would get these visions, but this was so real, she never felt something like this before. This was different and it was powerful. So powerful it woke her up out of a dead sleep.
"I'm still trying to piece everything together, but Andy you can't take this job. If you do it will destroy everything. Also who's Alexz? I keep hearing Alexz?"
There was silence on the other end of the phone. She could hear Andy clear her throat, "How do you know that name?"
"I don't know, but who ever it is you need to stay away from her. She's going to cause you a lot of pain and a lot of grief. Andy you HAVE to make sure you don't meet this band. It's going to set off a chain of events that will just spiral downward." Nina told her.
"Okay," Andy sighed, "Do you know what the name of this band is?"
"No, but it's an all woman band. The drummer and the lead singer are sisters. So be on the lookout for that kind of description. The lead singer is a fan of Lynn's." Nina explained.
"Wait, wait, wait, wait, Stacy said that Shey is working a band's album cover. All woman band, lead singer and drummer are sisters. I overheard Stacy asking Melissa for advice about something." Andy told her.
"Andrea, the chain of events already started. You need to stop it at all costs. If you don't, everything you've worked for will come to an end. Also, I saw something that's really disturbing. I don't know how to tell you. It's so hard, and it scares me." Nina told her trying to keep her tears from falling.
"Nina I can hear it in your voice. What did you see?" Andy asked trying to keep her words steady.
Nina sighed and blinked a few times. She sat at the foot of her bed and leaned forward putting her elbows on top of her thighs and let out a long breath. She knew she had to tell her. She just needed a moment to find the words.
"I saw you on a floor, blood coming from your mouth. You weren't breathing. I couldn't feel you. I couldn't feel your energy anymore. Andrea, I couldn't feel your life anymore." Nina started to sob.
Andy was speechless. She didn't know what to say. But what she did know was that she needed to calm down her friend. "Okay, Nina, honey, I need you to calm down. I mean I'm sure that's a long way off right?"
"No, Andrea, it's going to happen soon. The only way to stop this is if you don't sigh a contract with that band and you stay away from Alexz. Like I said, the chain of events have started. Don't let them continue."
"Okay, okay, I need to tell Lynn about this. I can't keep this from her. If it's that serious, I can't keep this a secret." Andy said and Nina agreed.
Andy tried to calm down her friend for a little while longer and they finally said their byes. Nina put her phone back on her night stand and stood up. She left her room and went into her kitchen. She needed to brew some calming tea so she could go back to sleep. That vision really rattled her. She just hoped that Andy would be able to stop the chain of events. Then she remembered another name. She rushed back to her bedroom and grabbed her phone.
She found Andy's number and started to type out the name. She just hoped Andy would get it in time. This was very important.
Andy was still sitting on her bed trying to figure out what Nina's vision meant. She was about to get up when her phone went off. It was a text from Nina. She opened and read what the text was.
"No, no, no, no, no." She said as she quickly sent Nina a text and rushed out of the room. She rushed down the stairs and tried to find Lynn. They were having a small adult get together since the twins were born. Tim and Cathy were so excited to take them for the night so the new moms could enjoy themselves.
They had their normal friends over and Stacy invited some people so Andy could network. Even though Andy protested, Stacy promised it was just a few people.
Andy found Lynn talking to a few girls. She put on a smile and greeted them. They were talking and introduced themselves right when Andy got the call from Nina. Andy whispered in Lynn's ear and they excused themselves.
Andy took Lynn's hand and led her up the stairs towards the master bedroom. Once they were both in Andy closed the door and locked it.
"Babe, what's going on? You're acting really weird." Lynn asked with a look of concern.
"I know, I'm sorry, but I just got a phone call from Nina. I never get a phone call from Nina unless it's an emergency. First let me explain something. She knew you were pregnant with twins. She knew they were going to be girls. She knew about Mila, she knew I was going to meet you. She knew it all. She knew. Now, she just called me and told me about a vision she had." Andy explained and started to pace back and forth.
"Okay, you're really scaring me now." Lynn said sitting on the bed.
Andy came over to her and stood in front of her, "I need you to understand that I really do believe in what Nina can do. Otherwise I wouldn't be like this. What I'm about to tell you is scary and we need to keep this between us. I can't even tell Ethan this." She went up to Lynn and kneeled down on her good knee and she took Lynn's hands in hers.
"All I need you do is listen, and then we can talk about it after. Just please believe me when I say that Nina hasn't been wrong with her visions. I trust her, and I want you to trust her." Andy said she could feel the tears well up behind her eyes.
"Baby, I trust you, and if you trust Nina so do I. So please tell me what's going on?" Lynn asked gently touching Andy's cheek. Andy nodded and she looked around and found the small stool. She stood up and walked over to it. She brought it over and sat in front of Lynn. She took her hand in hers and started to tell her everything.
*************************************************************************************************************
"Don't worry we'll get her. It's just a matter of time. What do you mean it's going to be even harder?! WHAT?!" Serenity yelled into her cell phone causing Alexz to slightly jump in her chair.
After a few more minutes of yelling Serenity hung up her phone and came to sit at the table. She sat down in a huff and rubbed her face in her hands.
"Things just got complicated." She told Alexz.
"What happened?"
"Well, let's see, one Lynn had twins. Two, the band attended the party Lynn and Andy threw last night. Well, turns out they left early. They were supposed to stay until it ended, but it didn't happen. Three, Kyle found out that I bought that house using the agency. He might be suing me." Serenity explained.
"So where does that put us?" Alexz asked, taking a sip of her red wine.
"Oh, we'll get them to split up. We will. Trust me." Serenity said.
They're plan can still happen. They just had to find the person that keeps interfering. Maybe it's time to finally hit them where it hurts. It was time to move onto plan B.
