Chapter 26
Lisa was going through her mail and her eyebrows raised as she pulled out a thick envelope out of the stack. There was no return address. Just her name and address. She looked at the postmark. Los Angeles. Her mind began to think. It could be from anyone. She knew lots of people in L.A.
She sat down on her couch and ripped it open. Inside were three airline tickets. London, Auckland, and Los Angeles. What the hell? She thought. And there was a note. ‘Wait for the next envelope.’
“Who the hell is this from?” she said out loud.
Knock knock. Lisa looked up as she heard the rapping on her door. When she opened it, she saw Viggo standing there. He had the exact same envelope in his hand.
“You got one too?” she asked as he walked in and closed the door behind her.
“Yup. Do you know who its from?” he asked.
“Who do you think it’s from?”
“Care to elaborate?” Lisa rolled her eyes.
“Are you that daft? I thought you were smart oh king of men.” She said with a giggle.
“Hey!” he said laughing and pulling her down to the couch.
“Well, I haven’t heard from Tia in about four weeks. Have you heard from the elf?”
“No.”
“I’m guessing, they have something planned, want to keep it a secret for as long as possible and are trying to avoid the media.”
“Okay. What are they trying to avoid?”
“If I’m going to guess here, I’m guess that they are getting married. And they’ve got three places in mind.”
“Why do you think these three?” he asked.
“Well, L.A. because it is an easy place to get married. London because they could be close to his family and they both have friends there. And Auckland because New Zealand because it was special to the both of them.”
"How come you’re so smart?” he asked kissing her.
“Because I am.” She said as she wrapped her arms around him.
Three days later……………..
“Are you packed?” Viggo asked as Lisa let him in her apartment.
“Yes, are you?”
“I’ve been ready since we got the tickets.”
“Has either of them called you?”
“No. Not a word. Did you call Orlando’s mom and sister?” Lisa asked as she walked into the kitchen.
“Yeah, they got the same thing that we got. Three tickets to three different locations and one note today.”
Lisa poured them each a cup of coffee and they stood there looking at each other.
“What about your parents?” Viggo asked.
“Same thing.”
“What is up with those two?” Lisa asked out loud.
“I guess we’ll find out in a couple of hours. Come on,” he said pulling her to him. “Let’s go take a nap before we have to go to the airport.” Lisa rolled her eyes.
“Is that all you ever think about?”
“Pretty much.” He said with a laugh and picked her up.
They arrived in Auckland, New Zealand the next morning. As they left the terminal area, they heard someone calling their names. They turned to see Tia & Lisa’s mother and father and Orlando’s mom and sister. They were coming from opposite ends of the terminal towards Lisa and Viggo. Hugs and greetings went all around. None of them had a clue as to what was going on. Lisa filled in her parents and Orlando’s mom as to the fact that Orlando had gone up to Tia’s farm, but neither she nor Viggo had heard from them in weeks.
They all walked to retrieve their luggage. As they were waiting, they saw two drivers approach them. Lisa arched an eyebrow at Viggo and Samantha.
“Ms. Alexendar? Mr. Mortensen? Ms. Bloom?” They shook their heads. “If you’ll point out which luggage is yours, I’ll take it to the car.” The other driver approached Tia’s parents and Orlando’s mom. He asked them the same thing.
“Viggo? What is going on?” Samantha asked.
“I don’t know.” The drivers put their suitcases on carts and they followed them out to the curb. Two black limousines were waiting.
“Excuse me, but where are we going?” Viggo asked.
“You are all being taken to Walheke Island. And that is all that I can tell you sir.” Viggo looked at Tia’s parents and shrugged his shoulders.
It was a short ride to the wharf and from there, they were taken aboard a ferry. The captain told them that it would be a short ride. He told them that a small buffet had been set up in the dining room of the ship. Their eyes widened as they saw the array of food and drinks that were there for them.
“Small buffet?” Mr. Alexander said with a smirk.
A short time later, they docked at Walheke Island. Once there, they were met by two more cars. The drivers informed them that they were being taken to the Longhouse Island Retreat. More eyebrows were raised. Once they were at the hotel, they were shown to their rooms. As quickly as they had walked into their rooms, they all walked out into the hallway, each of them holding a piece of paper.
Shortly before sunset, put on something nice, but casual and take a short walk to the hill that overlooks the ocean.
No names, no signatures.
“They’re getting married. I knew it!” Lisa shouted.
“Do you know that for sure Lisa?” her mother asked.
“I’d be willing to bet on it.” Samantha said to them. “I remember Orlando had asked Tia where she would want to get married if they ever got married someday and she said anywhere that overlooks the ocean.” Samantha practically squealed.
At sunset, they all met in the lobby and headed out towards the hilltop. They saw three people standing there looking out over the ocean. They all knew who it was. Lisa and Samantha practically ran down to them. Hugging them and holding them tight.
“Nice secret little brother.” Sam said to Orlando. Her smile as big as his own.
“Nice throw off.” Lisa said to Tia hugging her tight. “Are you happy?”
“Yes I am. More than you’ll ever know. And I have you to thank for it.”
“Me?”
“You sent him to me when you knew that I needed him.” Lisa’s eyes filled with tears. “Will you stand with me Lisa?”
“Yes.” Orlando approached Viggo and shook his hand and then hugged him.
“Thank you Vig.”
“For what?”
“For letting me crash at your place. If you hadn’t, we wouldn’t be standing here today. Will you be my best man?”
“Like you had to ask.” Orlando and Tia hugged their parents and then took each other’s hands.
Together they turned to face the minister with Lisa and Viggo standing on either side of them. Tia wore a simple ivory lace sleeveless dress and Orlando a simple black suit. The sun began to set in front of them, casting an orange and yellow glow over the ocean.
Tia turned to Orlando and smiled. “I love you.” She mouthed at him and he winked and replied. “I love you. Forever.”
“Dearly beloved……..”
