Epilogue: 4 Years Later
Andy smiled at Ethan as she adjusted his bow tie. She could tell he was nervous.
“Relax. You’re gonna do great.”
Andy finished with Ethan’s bow tie. He nodded and cleared his throat. Brandon smiled at his friend and brought over a small glass of whiskey. Clinton and Michael joined the two of them in a small circle.
“Andy apple juice for you.” Clinton said with a smile.
“Oh come on, it's your best friend’s wedding day!” Michael said, trying to take her glass away, but Ethan stopped him.
“Hey, it’s okay we talked about it and I’m okay with her staying sober. Plus we all know how we all get when all of us are drunk.” Ethan told them. Michael sighed and just smiled.
Andy raised her glass, “Here’s to Alex and Ethan. It only took four years, from clearing Alex’s name to the pandemic, and now here we are. Ethan I love you and I’m so excited for you and Alex to start this brand new chapter together. It was a long road but you finally made it. To Ethan and Alex.”
They all raised their glasses and cheersed each other congratulating Ethan. Once they all finished their glasses they gathered around for a group hug.
Andy couldn’t be happier for her best friend.
Meanwhile in Alex’s suite he was pacing back and forth. Lynn, Brian, David, and Mark were watching him.
Lynn finally said something, “Okay, Alex I need you to relax.”
Alex finally stopped pacing and looked at her, “What if he walks? In therapy he said he was having second thoughts. So was I. But we worked it all out. The last four years have been a rollercoaster. I didn’t think we would make it. But he kept working on his trust issues, and same with me. He’s the only guy I've ever been with and that’s terrifying. The fact that I didn’t know I was gay until him. I’m just trying to understand why I feel this way about him, rather than what I did when I had girlfriends. Oh God, what if we get divorced in a year?!”
Lynn rushed up to her best friend and put her hands on his arms, “Alex calm down. Ethan loves you. He’s in the other room just waiting for you at the altar. Yes, the last four years have been horrible. But look, you were able to clear your name, we survived the pandemic, and now you’re about to marry the man you love. Yes, for some odd reason life threw us a lot of curve balls but we always managed to come through.”
Brian nodded and walked up to his best friend, “She’s right, we’ve been through so much together and here we are. We’ve been through a lot, and we’re still standing. Sure it seemed like everything was pointing the other way, but you kept going. That’s what matters. We’re here for you and we will always be. No matter what. You’re our brother and we love you.”
Alex looked at both of his best friends with tears in his eyes and he grabbed them both and hugged them tight. He didn’t know that he needed to hear what his best friends said. They were right, him and Ethan would not have gotten through these last four years without them. It was a long road but now here they are.
There was a knock at the door and David went to open it. He smiled seeing his fiance Kara. She smiled and whispered it was time. He nodded and snuck in a quick kiss. Of course as tradition he proposed at one of the camp outs on New Years Eve with Andy singing a song
They decided to wait until after Ethan and Alex had their wedding. They didn’t want to ruin their happy day. So they decided to wait.
David closed the door and cleared his throat, “It’s time guys.” The three broke apart and Mark handed Alex a tissue.
“I can’t believe all three of you are married.” He said, wiping a small tear from his eye. He remembered their first tour together. They were so young, so scared, eyes full of excitement.
Now here they are in his eyes starting their own families and growing up. They were like his family and he was so happy to be a part of every single one of their weddings.
Alex cleared his throat and smiled at Mark, “You were like our dad when we were on tour. Thank you for everything and I’m so happy you’re standing up with us tonight.” Alex pulled Mark in for a tight hug and held him close.
They stayed like that for a few more moments and broke apart. Alex took a deep breath and nodded, “Okay, I’m getting married. Holy shit I’m getting married. Let’s do this.”
Brian and Lynn laughed. David opened the door and they all left the room following Alex.

“Those two are definitely worn out.” Mila said with a smile opening the door for her parents carrying the twin sisters.
“Thanks for keeping up with them today.” Lynn said with a smile walking past her.
“Yeah, kiddo, so glad you could make the trip. Uncle Ethan and Alex were worried you weren’t gonna make it.” Andy said carefully, taking off her shoes.
“Are you kidding? I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Now just gotta wait for Uncle David’s and Aunt Kara’s wedding.” She told them and they both nodded.
“Okay we’re gonna get these two changed and wanna meet down here and have a cup of tea with us?” Lynn asked.
“Defitinley.” Mila said with a smile following her parents upstairs.
It didn’t take long for Andy and Lynn to change the twins carefully out of the flower girl dresses. They both were out like a light. Once they were settled in their beds, the two went to their master room to change out of their formal clothes.
“I still can’t get over this house.” Lynn said, grabbing her night clothes from her dresser.
“Is it the house or the fact that my ex ended up being the realtor I was in contact with?” Andy asked, changing into her t-shirt and basketball shorts.
“Both, I thought Nicole was out of Virginia.” Lynn answered, making her way to the bathroom to wash off some of her light makeup.
Andy heard the water running, “Remember our wedding and I had to stop really hard?”
“Yeah, you never told me what happened!” Lynn called from the bathroom.
Andy walked to the door frame of the bathroom and leaned against it with her arms crossed. Watched Lynn for a minute and just smiled. She still couldn’t believe how she got so lucky. She was brought out of her thoughts when Lynn called her name.
“What?” Andy asked.
Lynn smiled and gently dried her face with a small towel, then grabbed a tube of moisturizer, “You were gonna tell me why you stopped so hard.”
“Oh yeah, well turned out it was Vicki. Also during our wedding reception, Ashley made an appearance claiming she had an invitation.” Andy confessed.
Lynn finished up and turned off the light to the bathroom and started to make her way out of the room. Andy wasn’t too far behind.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Lynn asked, walking down the stairs with Andy behind her.
Andy shrugged, “Well it was our wedding day and I didn’t want anything to go wrong. I mean come on, how many times have we been thrown a curveball?”
Lynn nodded, she knew her wife was right. They made it to the kitchen and they both started to make tea while waiting for Mila. It didn’t take long for Mila to join them in the kitchen. She smiled watching her parents getting everything ready for their nightly tea. She still couldn’t believe she got so lucky. They took her in and never treated her any different.
“Hey Mama, who’s calling you this late?” Mila said, looking at Andy’s phone. Andy turned away from the stove and looked at her phone on the counter. She looked at the number and hit decline.
“Who was that?” Lynn asked. Andy shook her head.
“Remember a few years ago Alexz asked me to be part of a reboot and I said no?” Andy asked as she was putting some honey in their mugs.
“Don’t tell me she’s still trying.” Lynn said, setting the small tea bags into the mugs each.
“You’re not gonna believe who she’s been working with.”
Lynn and Mila exchanged confused looks. The kettle started to whistle and Andy grabbed a small oven mitt and used it to protect her hand from the hot handle.
“You can’t leave us hanging Mama.” Mila said with a small chuckle.
As Andy started to pour the hot water into the mugs, she was trying to think of how to break the news to them. When Mila turned seventeen Lynn and Andy filled her in on a lot of things about Serenity. What she did to Andy and what she lied about. Luckily the townhouse in Boston is still theirs and that’s where Mila stays while she goes to college.
Once the hot water was poured, Andy turned back to the stove, made sure the burner was off and put the kettle on an off burner. She placed the oven mitt on the counter just as Lynn was handing her a spoon to stir her tea.
“Alexz and Serenity have been working together. Both had been trying to get me to get on this reboot. I’ve been blocking them every time, but they keep getting new numbers or someone calls for them. I didn’t want to change my number, because I didn’t want you two to be suspicious of anything.” Andy explained.
“Okay, question one, how did you know they were working together? Question two, why didn’t you bring it up to us?” Lynn asked, sitting next to her daughter.
Andy leaned on the counter and sighed. She took a sip of her tea. She looked at her wife and daughter. She stood up and tried to think of how to tell them how she found out.
“You both are not gonna like this.” She stood straight up and let out a deep breath.
“I was on a shoot in Vancouver. Kyle invited me to a small get together with the Canada office. I was tired and I tried to turn him down, but he said a big buyer was going to be there and that she wanted to meet me. I said fine. But I would only stay for an hour, because I had a flight to L.A. to meet you.” Andy said, nodding at Lynn.
“Oh yeah! You wanted to be there for the recording, and Alex’s trial.” Lynn pointed out and Andy nodded.
“So we get to the house. Kyle starts mingling and I’m just kinda hanging out by the windows looking at the view. Couldn’t have been five minutes until I felt someone grab my arm and the next thing I know I’m in Kyle’s car.”
“Oh don’t tell me the buyer….” Mila said, looking at Andy.
Andy nodded, “Yup the house party was a ruse to get me to go there to say yes to the reboot. Kyle just told me to put on my seat belt and then he drove away in a hurry. He didn’t say a word until we got back to the hotel. He parked, turned off the car, undid his seat belt and got out of the car. Of course I followed him out and asked him what was going on.” Andy took a sip of her tea and looked back at her wife and daughter.
“He was walking so fast. I was calling after him, but he just kept walking until he got into his room. He left the door open and I rushed in. As soon as I was inside he slammed the door shut and locked it. He was on the phone with someone and after a few minutes of keeping me in suspense he finally started to explain.
He tells me he overheard a group of people talking about a reboot and my name popped up. He looked at the group and saw Alexz and Serenity with the group. His attention was turned to the bartender telling a party goer that it was a plan to get me there to get me to say yes. They were going to trick me into signing a contract. So that’s when he pulled me out of there.” Andy finished telling them.
“But how did he get the invitation for the party?” Mila asked.
Andy shrugged, “He told me it was from one of his colleagues he’s known for years. That phone call he was on was that colleague and he was explaining to him to give him more details next time.
As for not telling you both, we just had a lot going on. With Alex’s trial, the pandemic, PVRIS’ switching labels again, and Kyle giving me more responsibility at the company.” Andy finished.
“That’s understandable, the last four years have been hectic. But isn’t it weird that your exes just can’t seem to let you go?” Lynn asked.
“Yeah, it really is. I mean Nicole was using her middle name and Nate’s last name when I was buying this house. I have no idea how Vicki knew about our wedding, as for Ashley I think she got the information from my Uncle Chris. I only heard from Jess once and that was when I had that panic attack. She reached out to say she was sorry.” Andy explained, and she finished off her tea.
“Mama, I feel like your life could be a show.” Mila said with a small smile.
“Wasn’t it that Brian said that you have a colorful life?” Lynn asked Andy with a wink.
Andy chuckled and put her mug in the sink, “True, but life brought me to both of you and I wouldn’t change the seven years. Okay, I’m gonna go to bed, Kyle wants a conference call with the board tomorrow.” Andy walked around the counter and kissed Mila’s forehead and gave her a quick hug, “Glad to see you kiddo. I love you.”
“Same here mama. I love you too.”
Andy let go of Mila and turned to Lynn. She gave her a small kiss on the lips, “I’ll see you in bed. I love you.”
Lynn smiled, “I love you. See you soon.”
The two watched as Andy left the kitchen. Lynn turned to Mila and took her hand in hers.
“So how’s school going?” Lynn asked.
“Not too bad. Sometimes I feel like I know more than the professors, but at the same time I don’t want to make them look dumb. Been going to these poetry readings. Met some awesome people. Mama’s been helping with some gym routines. I found a small job at the local bookstore. I don’t want to be that kid that lives off their parents.” Mila said.
Lynn nodded, “I understand. Me and your Mama we’re actually talking about how we want you girls to make a name for yourselves. Especially Andy she’s been working since she was about twelve and it led her to adopting you, the girls, this house. She worked really hard.”
“Well so did you Mom. You put your passion into everything and you worked hard to make your dream come true. I never told you this but I saw one of your shows when I was younger. I think it was two years before you adopted me. I was blown away and I told myself I would meet you and now you're my Mom.” Mila said, wiping away a tear.
Lynn smiled and pulled her daughter into a hug, “Oh baby girl. I love you so much and I’m so happy you were brought into our lives. You saved us more than you know.”
The two stayed in their embrace for a few more moments and continued to talk into the night.
Andy checked on the twins and smiled. They had so much fun tonight she knew they would be sleeping through the night. She made her way to the master bathroom to brush her teeth. She started a new routine at night, brush, floss, and mouthwash. After getting two root canals she knew she needed to change something. She finished brushing her teeth and moved on to flossing.
She opened the drawer to grab the floss and noticed something out of place. She moved some things over and saw a pink box. She dropped the floss and picked up the pink box.
“Already?” she asked herself.
“Oh boy.” Lynn said.
Andy turned to Lynn, “I know we just had the appointment, but are you….?”
