“I don’t care, I’m tired of all the stress and such over the wedding! If Mom wouldn’t throw a fit, I would say we should just elope. God!” Ivy threw her hands over her face for the umpteenth time today. Catrianna suppressed her groan, lately being very impatient with Ivy's wailing about. Thankfully, she had been training herself at keeping her calm, but a girl could only assemble and reassemble a dress so many times before she started to tick.
Ivy, Becca, Cat, and Mama Wentz were all settled around the kitchen table at the Wentz house trying to sort out the final details of Ivy’s wedding, which was now just around the corner. The girls had set aside the entire day and made a goal that they finish everything today so as to keep from having the stress of planning the wedding hanging over their heads.
Cat was probably a bit sinister to think that it'd be better off if Ivy eloped, but she said nothing of that nature. Ivy had been so sweet and generous dealing with her antics in the weeks before her own wedding, so she was determined to return the favor. She kept silent and continued to work on the crocheting of a lace tablerunner that she had been making as a wedding gift to Ivy and Pete, though she said nothing of that nature to lead Ivy onto the notion that she had been long working on a handmade gift to add to the storebought gift she had gotten her. Becca raised an eyebrow at the mention of Ivy eloping. “That would be a bit drastic, don’t you think? I mean, sure the planning is a pain, but elope?”
“At this moment, yes. I’m sick of everyone going crazy with trying to get this all sorted out and such. It’s insane. I just want a quiet simple ceremony where it’s just family and a few friends. Not a media circus, something small and classy. That’s it!”
Cat exchanged a nervous glance with Becca. Apparently both worried for their own safety at Ivy’s mood. Thankfully, Mama Wentz seemed to be able to handle the stress and situation perfectly. But then again, after having practically helped raise most of the boys in the bands, it was no wonder she was able to handle the stress and such as easy as she did.
“Ivy, why don’t you just do this? Get Pastor Robinson to just do a simple ceremony somewhere. Like the gazebo at the park down the street? That’s lovely this time of year. And outdoor weddings are lovely. Have the reception here, and I’ll take care of all the food and such. Becca and Cat will help, won’t you girls?”
Cat and Becca both nodded absently as they let Mama Wentz take over and finalize everything. Because they both knew that with Ivy as emotional as she was, it would be best to have everything finalized and set down as quickly as they could, for everyone’s sanity. Besides, they both knew that helping Mama Wentz would be fun anyways.
Ivy shrugged, tears of frustration in her eyes now. “That works. Would you mind finishing that up? I need to use the restroom.” Before any of them could really answer, Ivy jumped up and rushed off to the bathroom. Whether it was to be sick or cry, no one knew.
Mama Wentz sighed before straightening up all the wedding magazines on the table before turning to the other two. “Okay girls, sorry about pushing it on you and such, but Ivy looked about ready to burst into tears at the stress. Come on and let’s go see what we can figure out for food out of the supplies in the kitchen. We can go shopping later if we need to. Cat, do you know if Ivy has the dresses and everything picked out?”
It took Becca nudging Cat in the ribs to get her out of her needlework daze. She blinked and looked up, flashing an apologetic smile for her absentmindedness. “Yeah, Viv and I are working on fixing them all. Viv is making Ivy’s dress, and I’m just doing touch ups on the bridesmaid dresses I used. It’s mainly just adjusting the dresses to fit everyone this time around though.”
They all went into the kitchen and started digging through the various supplies they had in the cabinets. It was soon sorted out that Becca would be in charge of the veggie friendly portions while Cat sorted out the rest and Mama Wentz handled the cake. “So how long do you think it will take to get this one done with? I mean, Pastor Robinson might need to know, right?” It made a lot of sense. If Cat was going to drive herself crazy helping with this mad genius idea of throwing a wedding together, she wanted to have well-rounded knowledge of it all.
Becca laughed at Cat’s questions. Mama Wentz seemed to just shrug it off before walking into the small downstairs office. Cat raised an eyebrow, and Becca merely shook her head laughing. “Mama went to high school with Pastor Robinson. They were prom dates, both years. He had the biggest crush on her.”
Cat looked shocked for a moment before bursting into a fit of laughter again. “So that’s why she wasn’t worried about getting him to do the wedding, even on such short notice. That helps things out a bit.”
Mama Wentz walked back into the kitchen with a bemused grin on her face. Becca just laughed and Cat shook her head. “We have a pastor for the wedding. What do you girls think of planning a wedding in a day? I figure we can get all the dramatics over with if we just throw it together and have the ceremony tomorrow. That saves the pain of media circus, and Ivy won’t have another meltdown.”
Both girls’ mouths dropped open as Mama Wentz suggested having the wedding the next day. Before either of them could say anything, Ivy spoke up from the doorway. “If you can get it all put together, I would love you forever, Mama. I am so sick of planning, I just want to skip the wedding and get on with life.”
Becca was the first to recover, partially because she was already accustomed to Ivy’s impatience with plans and such. She shrugged before leaning her elbow on the counter with her chin in her hand. “Then I guess we plan a wedding in a day. I’ll go start calling everyone.”
Cat shook her head, muttering under her breath, she wasn’t sure how planning a wedding in a day would be possible, given that her own had taken so long to plan. “Well, Viv’s going to need some serious help. So I should probably go to the shop and get working on the dresses. I’ll be back after we finish to start sorting out all the food.” Cat grabbed her purse and rushed out to her car, no doubt to go break the news to Viv that they would have to finish making Ivy’s dress and altering all the other bridesmaids dresses before the day ended.
As she rushed out, she put the earpeace of her bluetooth on. "Viviana" she commanded the speed dial as she pulled out of the driveway. "Hey Viv, what are you up to?"
Viviana's voice seemed a bit winded. "Um Cat, couldn't you have picked a better time to call? Bill's mother took the baby for the day. We were sort of...."
Cat's eyes widened in horror as she heard a male voice in the background that sounded like William. "Uh - so sorry to break up that wild sex party of yours. Change of plan. Pete and Ivy are getting married tomorrow."
There was an awkward pause. "Tomorrow??" There was this thud, and Cat closed her eyes at the stoplight, shaking her head. At least the light was red so she was stationary. "Um Cat?" Bill's voice was now on the phone. "Before I wake up Viv, what did you tell her?" Cat laughed as she shifted, the light having changed. "Pete's wedding, it's tomorrow. I need her conscious. We've got some dresses to finish."
There was a tired sigh and Will spoke again. "So much for that sick and twisted orgy we had planned out."
Cat coughed at this. "That's a lot more than I wanted to know."
More laughter on the other end. "Okay she's starting to come around. I'd say just meet her at the studio. And since I have the evening off, what say I distract Ryan with ordering some pizza and taking it by there?"
Cat sighed in relief as she was still growing adjusted to this married life of hers. "Beckett, you are a saint!"
"I know. I'll talk to you later - gotta go before she shoves this phone up my.... Hey Vivi...."
The phone went dead and Cat sighed. What an insane possey.
