WARNINGS: Minimal coarse language

The whole time the girls heard Aoi, Uruha and Ruki performing the remix of 'Cassis', each of them were just off in their own little world. Megumi and Kikyo didn't move their heads from Kira's shoulders while Kira had her head resting against Kikyo's. Megumi and Kira wished they could have heard Kai and Reita playing as well, but just imagining those two smiling while the others played was enough to make them smile. Kikyo still had her eyes closed as she tried to imagine Uruha playing his guitar - and to think she'd been too embarrassed to let him see her play that morning. Kikyo now wished she had. Ai had her arms crossed on the coffee table with her head resting on them. She too was trying to imagine Aoi playing - if it was one thing she knew, a good-looking guy playing a guitar was hot. Meanwhile, Mika was off in 'La-La' land because of Ruki's voice - she was overwhelmed at how much his voice had developed since the band started. Now any song he sang gave her goose bumps. Finally the song finished and Kohta 'applauded' the performance

"Wow ... that was prettiest song I've ever heard ... that must be like the first remix they've ever done, ne? And on top of that, it was done on Live radio, how cool", Ai said lazily, still with her head resting on her arms, though now she had her eyes closed and playing the song over and over in her mind, "I have to say though, that even if Kai-san and Reita-san didn't play, it was still a beautiful song".

Kikyo mumbled something about that being her favourite Uruha solo ever. Megumi was still kind of in shock that they had played that song for them - each girl in that room was now somehow attached with one of the guys from the Gazette. Something that excited and scared the girls all at once because it was mostly the fans that scared them, but it seems they were well protected by the guys in a way. Most especially Mika.

"I feel so special right now. Well okay, we all should feel special!" Megumi said quickly when she felt a quick poke in her ribs by Kira; Megumi sat up quickly and wrapped an arm around her side as she continued, "I mean come on, how often do you have celebrities dedicating songs to you? We should be out in the street shouting 'Hey guess what, that's us!'"

Megumi let out a little yelp when she felt a light thud in the back of her head - Kira had reached behind her in the sofa and snatched a pillow to hit Megumi with it. Kikyo burst out in laughter at the sight, and Mika and Ai joined in the laughing. What Megumi was saying was easy ... but they'd regret it when angry fans over-powered them. So Megumi recoiled and didn't say another word. Kira turned the radio off as Alice Nine came on, hugged her knees again and sighed dreamily.

"Well I don't know about you guys, but I kind of have the slightest, little, teeny-weeny, itsy-bitsy, minute feeling that we all have had some effect on them ..." Kira said as she held up two fingers about five millimetres apart, and squinting with one eye closed to those fingers, "Ruki couldn't leave Mika alone at the after party ... Uruha seemed a little distant with Kikyo at first but then I noticed he loosened up ..."

The other girls just looked at Kira weirdly to which Kira just glanced blankly around at their faces. Suddenly Megumi reached for the pillow Kira had hit her with and gave Kira a good buff over the head with it. The Kikyo, Mika and Ai giggled and reached for more pillows from the sofa and the chairs. This quickly turned into a full on pillow fight, until a phone rang. Everyone stopped in their tracks, and looked around. Mika looked around, realising it was her phone.

"Hey that sounds like the opening to 'Filth in the Beauty' ... Wait a second, that's my phone ..." Mika said as she trailed off and listened to the ring-tone; it suddenly dawned on her as she gasped, "Oh my gosh, it's Ruki! I set his cell-phone to that ring tone and vibrate alert so I wouldn't miss it. Where did I put my phone?!"

The other girls blinked and started looking around the living area. Kira, who had ended up in Mika's chair during the pillow fight, felt an odd sensation under her butt. She made a weird face and looked under her. She pulled out Mika's cell phone and stared blankly at it like she was trying to work out what it was. Mika gasped and tackled her, grabbing the phone first. Kikyo jumped when Mika squealed and pounced for the phone before looking at Kira.

"Where did you find that? The ring-tone sounded muffled. Were you sitting on it or something?" Kikyo asked as she straightened her sweater, and when she saw Kira point to her butt, Kikyo giggled and covered her mouth, "Eww, Mika's phone got Kira-squashed!"

Mika gave Kikyo a slap in the arm as she whisked past them and into the kitchen for some privacy. She leaned against the edge of the counter and flipped the cell phone open to answer it. She beamed happily when she heard the familiar voices in the background, confirming it was Ruki on the other end. Where the kitchen was, the other girls could see Mika and just from her smiling they all looked at each other and mouthed 'Ruki'. Not wanting to feel like they were eaves dropping on the conversation, Kira, Megumi, Kikyo and Ai made themselves comfortable back on the sofa and chairs, now turning on the television. The only amusing programs were a couple of mindless game shows, a music video channel and the early weather report. Mika wasn't paying attention; she was too busy talking to Ruki about the radio show. She complimented him on how well it went, Kohta sounded odd but rather enjoyable to listen too and that the remix of 'Cassis' was perfect. Mika hoped she wasn't talking too much ... but this was her first personal phone-call from Ruki and she was definitely enjoying it.

While he spoke to Mika, Ruki had his back to the others the whole time, trying to block out the scuffle between Aoi and Reita for Aoi's smoke. It wasn't until Ruki heard Mika's voice that he stopped himself from telling them to shut-up. He couldn't help but smile when he heard her voice. It was only an hour and a half ago that he was with her, yet he already missed her that much. He smiled to himself as she went on to congratulate the band on their radio gig and the song. But while Mika was thinking she might be talking too much, Ruki was just content listening to her. He wasn't really that keen on girls who didn't know what to say, even when he wasn't famous. And at least now he knew that Mika was comfortable around him - which was what he wanted; for her to be able to treat him like a normal person. Ruki stayed away from the other guys while he talked to her because he could still hear Aoi and Reita play fighting. Kai and Uruha just stared at the two, wondering how much longer it was going to last and who would be the first to get hurt. Uruha glanced at Kai as he blew another stream of smoke.

"I say you and I make a bet on this little fight. I bet ... let's say, 2000-yen that Reita ends up tripping over or falling over something and burning himself", Uruha said holding his hand out to Kai, palm up and raising a challenging eyebrow at the drummer, "I win if that's what Reita does, and you win if Aoi gets to him first. We got a deal?"

Kai laughed and slapped Uruha's hand to say he agreed. They then turned back to see that Aoi was still chasing Reita around Ruki's car. Sometimes they went one way, but then Aoi would try to out-smart Reita and run the other way to intercept him. Of course Reita wasn't that stupid and he managed to get out of Aoi's grasp. There wasn't much point left in the chase because Aoi's cigarette was half gone from being whisked around everywhere. Kai groaned and covered his face with both hands, shaking his head.

"Sometimes I really do wonder about those two. In fact I'm surprised it's not you chasing Reita, because you two and Ruki knew each other well before the band started", Kai said as he wrapped one arm around his waist and placed his other hand on his chin thoughtfully, "But then I suppose he does it to Aoi because of that reason. I'm to guess the three of you gave each other enough hell during junior years ..."

Kai laughed when Uruha gave him a look as if to say 'how did you work that out?' Yes, Reita, Uruha and Ruki grew up in the same area and even went to the same school despite Ruki being a couple of years lower than Reita and Uruha. So naturally there was a history there. Then Kai and Uruha jumped when Aoi let out a loud but raspy 'GOTCHA!" and they saw him pinning Reita to the wall of the radio station.

"Alright alright, you got me! Just don't crush my fuckin' spin, jeez!" Reita cursed against the wall, because Aoi actually help Reita's arms to the wall with his hands but pushed against Reita's back with knee; Reita spread his hands out and shook them, "Okay, let me go you win! Get your damn knee out of my back before I break it!"

Aoi laughed and as he lowered his knee he snatched the three-quarter finished cigarette from Reita's left hand. He just managed to draw the last little bit out of it before he dropped the butt into a trashcan beside the back door. Reita let out an exasperated sigh as he turned around and bent down with his hand on his knees - not only was he out of breath, but he was also winded from Aoi shoving him against the wall. Kai looked as Uruha, who rolled his eyes and pulled his wallet out from his back pocket. He took two 1000-yen notes and held them out to Kai, to which the drummer took them with a satisfied grin.

"Sorry to keep everyone waiting ... I just had to take care of a little pest-problem. So what did I miss?" Aoi said, playing dumb and he looked up when Reita came ambling over from where he'd been up close and personal with the wall; Aoi patted Reita's back gently as the bassist hunched over again, "Sorry about that but when it comes to my cigarette break, I'm very defensive of it. I didn't break anything did I?'

Uruha and Kai laughed as Aoi talked about being defensive of his smoke-break. In response to Aoi asking if Reita was all right, he simply replied with a quick thumbs up. Now that the guys 'excitement' had ended, they were now drawn to watching Ruki talk to Mika. He was now slowly walking backwards toward them while slowly turning around - it looked like he was almost finished talking to her. They had to get a move on anyway - filming of the new 'Hyena' started early Monday morning ... and that meant Ruki's dreadlocks would be gone by tomorrow afternoon.

"Yeah ... no, it's alright, I'm really glad you all liked it. Hmm ... hai ... no you shouldn't get lost, trust me it's really easy to find. Even if you do get lost just give me a call ..." Ruki trailed off as he now came to stop on the edge of the circle the guys had made, and he paused to listen before smiled and nodded, "Ah, so ka ... alright we will see you all in a couple of weeks ... ja ne".

Ruki hesitated as he took the phone away from his ear and closed it. As he slipped the phone back into his pocket, he finished off his cigarette and flicked the butt into the trashcan. That was the guys cue to leave now, as Ruki quickly got into the drivers side with Kai in the front passenger. Aoi, Reita and Uruha were in the back ... with Uruha between them of course. Reita was now a little scared of Aoi since he'd been winded - and it was scary to think that Reita would be afraid of Aoi considering he was supposed to be the 'guy'. But until Reita got his breath back, he was going to keep his distance from Aoi ... especially his knees. Finally Ruki had his car going and on the way back to their share-apartment. The guys really couldn't wait until after the tour and then they could go back to their own apartments ... the whole 'sharing an apartment before the tour so each of the guys could easily be reached' thing was getting rather tedious. And as you can imagine, an apartment with five full-grown men around each other twenty-four-seven can only last for so long before they start going crazy. They just wished the builders would hurry up and finish the jam-studios so then they wouldn't have to be cooped up in one small place.

A week passes ...

It had been a very long week for both the girls and Gazette. To start from the beginning would leave an eternity long story on both accounts - lets just say the girls missed their new friends. Since the practice session, the guys had been flat out with filming for their new video while on the other side of the public eye, the girls had to go about their usual routine of working, eating and sleeping. With the only exception of Ruki and Mika managing to talk to each other by phone at least once a day ... with the first being on the Sunday after the radio gig they had with Kohta. And if you hadn't already guessed, the phone call consisted of Ruki angsting to Mika about just having his dreadlocks cut off. The first thing Mika did was giggle and then console him, followed by a 'gambate' for the filming of 'Hyena' during the next week.

While the band was in the middle of their filming, the girls were in the middle of working like normal. With the only difference being their work colleagues happened to recognise them from the newspaper ... much to the awkwardness the girls felt. Luckily they didn't seem to get any negative remarks from their work places ... probably because the day-care that Kikyo and Mika worked in mainly had older generation carers. The other models that Kira worked with were only interested in Japanese Pop-boy bands. And when she was working with Megumi and Ai at the Superb Mart, the same thing ... the other female workers preferred Pop bands and the male workers just thought it was awesome.

So it was a rather event-free week for the girls, when they'd half expected angry mobs any moment. Probably the only exciting thing that did happen was that as each day ended, it was one more day closer to seeing the guys again. Megumi, now being an even more rabid Kai-fan than before, checked his time-slot on the Live Cast website everyday just in case it was changed or cancelled. And as her friends had continuously told her, the timetable didn't change ... he would always be Monday nights at nine o'clock. They had all decided during the week to again meet at Kira's place, because it was closer of course. So then they could all listen to Kai before heading out to the café - they never missed Kai's time slot since he started.

NOTES:
1) Ruki, Reita and Uruha: It's only a rumor, but its supposed that these three knew each other before the band started because they all lived in the Kanagawa area. Although it's not confirmed, I am just clarifying that possibility
