***PART 3***
Marshall smiled as he made his way into Dre’s. Hailie’s shoes were thrown to the side of the door and her backpack lay empty next to them. He picked up the Dora the Explorer bag and walked into the living room.
“Hailie Jade!” Marshall sang, turning around the corner.
“Daddy!” The blonde yelled as she threw herself into his arms.
Smiling he caught her and hugged her small body to his larger one. A moment later he pulled back and stared at her with a frown.
“Who are you miss?”
“Daddy it’s me…Hailie.”
“Oh, well I don’t think so. My Hailie doesn’t wear makeup! She’s only 6!”
“Don’t be silly Daddy! It’s me! I was just playen dress up!” She explained, rubbing the pink eye shadow off.
“Hailie! There ya are!” Marshall exclaimed before smothering her face in kisses.
“Ewww!” Hailie screamed and laughed, trying to wriggle free.
“Yo, put her down dawg. ‘For she pisses her pants.”
Marshall kissed her one more time before letting her down.
“Ewww, I got cooties!”
“Cooties! I’ll give you cooties girl!”
“Aghhh!” She screamed, tearing down the hallway before her father could give chase.
She loved when they played like this. He was so funny. He liked playing games with her and almost never yelled at her for being too loud or anything. Mommy used to do that sometimes. Hailie didn’t think she meant to but she just couldn’t stay calm. Daddy said she just didn’t have a lot of patience. Whatever that meant. Guess she was just weird or something. But daddy wasn't like that! He always made time for her and never told her to grow up. That’s why she liked playing with him more then anyone in the whole wide world.
Marshall smiled as he looked up at Dre.
“So what’s poppen?” Marshall asked, as he started to collect Hailie’s things.
“Not much. Everything taken care of now?”
“Yea I’m set. Paul’s got some shit to take care of with the papers or whateva. We’ll be goin back to Detroit by Saturday.”
“Aight. I wanna work on some shit ‘for you go back though. Then you'll get the rest of the week to do whateva.”
“Aight that’s cool.” Marshall nodded, before pausing again. “Yo lemme ask you something real quick…”
“Shoot.”
“You think Hailie could stay here tonight?”
“Sure, but why? You got something to do?”
“I might, I aint sure yet. I gotta see, so that’s why I aint just leaven her. If it goes through I’ll just drop her off again.”
“I got you. So who is she? Groupie?”
Marshall laughed, “Nah, she aint even know who I was.”
Dre snorted, “Who you shitten?”
“Nah, I’m straight. We was talken for like 10 minutes and she never knew.”
“But she does now?”
“Yea, I told her.”
“Dre laughed, “That’s on you man. I don’t wanna hear shit about her when she fucks you ova, ya hear.”
“Yea yea, whateva.”
Just then Hailie came running back in. Marshall watched her as she started to gather her toys from where he left them. He could tell she was excited about going back to the hotel. They hadn’t spent a lot of time together since they’d arrived two days ago. Maybe 2 or 3 hours each day. He’d have to make sure they spent a whole day together, doing whatever she wanted.
“Daddy, are we almost ready?”
“Yea Hai, almost, pack your bag for me ok?”
“Sure you don’t wanna leave it here Marsh?”
Hailie’s head shot up at that.
“We’re not going home now?”
“Well, I was thinken you might wanna stay here tonight. That sound ok baby?”
The tiny blonde looked down once again before fidgeting with her shirt. She was really looking forward to going to the hotel. Daddy had promised they’d play in the pool and order pancakes for dinner. Hailie tried so hard not to cry. She wanted to be a big girl for him but she couldn’t help it. Every time her dad made plans with her lately, he had to change his mind. It wasn’t fair!
Marshall’s heart broke as he heard her small sniffle and watched as a tear slowly made its way down her cheek. He quickly closed the distance between them and dropped to his knees in front of her. Pulling his daughter into his arms he gently rubbed her back.
“Oh baby, you don’t have to stay. I’ll cancel my plans.”
“Really?”
“Yea.” Marshall promised, softly wiping her tears away with his thumbs. “I was just gonna take a friend out to dinner, but I wanna stay with my baby tonight instead, is that ok with you?”
Hailie sniffled again, nodding and burying her face in his shoulder. Marshall looked up at Dre again and sighed.
“Looks like I’ve got a date with this lovely lady tonight.”
“Daddy?”
“Yea?”
“Can your friend come to dinner with us? So then you can still see them?”
“Ugh, I’ll ask baby, but they might not be able to. I’ll see ok?”
“Kay.”
The blondes quickly gathered their things and were on their way after thanking Dre. Well this should be interesting, Marshall thought to himself. Did he really want to bring this woman by his daughter? What if she was only doing this for her 15 minutes of fame? He didn’t want to think she was but he had to be careful. If he let Hailie meet her, that meant a lot of things. The top and most important being, he was basically telling her he wasn’t going to be with her mother anymore. He didn’t want her to think he was trying to replace Kim, but in a way, he kinda was.
Then again, she had told him to invite her. Maybe things would work out. Hell, maybe they would even get along! He hoped so. It would be a shame to kick her to the curb, before he really got to know her. He had a feeling it would work out though. And if not, well, he wasn’t in love with her or nuttin. Just trying to see where it would go. That was ok right?
