Chapter 3 The next day I wake up. I really need to brush my teeth at night and I find the toothpaste in my carryon, I'm happy that it's a brand new toothbrush and tube of toothpaste. I pull out my toothbrush and use a cup and fill it with bottled water. I dip my toothbrush in, then use some toothpaste and I gently brush my teeth. After I'm done I spit the water out into the sand and wait for Christian to wake up. I'm thinking for a moment, trying to get something in my head, like a blue print of what would be of a house we could build using the plane and other things in the jungle. I nudged Christian to wake him up. "Christian wake up." I nudge him more and he wakes up. "What is it?" I'm really excited about the plan. "What do you think of building our own house using things we'll find in the jungle?" I wait for Christian's answer and he smiles. "Do you think we could do it?" Christian asks. "Of course, we can, there is no way we can't, I mean they make it look easy on movies, but with a little bit of practice, I'm sure we can." Christian nods his head. "So where should we build it?" I think for a moment. "Well we can find a clearing that isn't far from the beach, but far enough were we don't have to worry about the ocean drowning us when it storms or something."
Christian gets up and I follow him, he pulls out the compass and then gets out of the plane. "How about over there?" I follow his finger and nods. "Perfect." I smile. "We need bamboo, vines and those big leaves that I saw yesterday." I smile at Christian and then look in his eyes, "It's gonna take us awhile, we have to tie each bamboo together with vines and use the vines and weave them with the leaves." Christian nods his head. "I know." Christian and I start getting the stuff we need, it's really hard, we have to cut down the bamboo, the vines and leaves. We measure how big we want the house and use the bamboo and tie them together to make the frame first. I know how to weave from doing it as a kid. Christian starts on the floor putting together the bamboo and tying them together to make the floor. I then start to on the walls by tying the bamboo together to make the wall, we use the huge leaves to fill in the cracks. The wall is huge and I know I can't pull it up to attach it to the floor. Christian and I get the first wall up and then the other three. Last is the ceiling, we work on the door. I help him hold up the bamboo to tie it to the top of the frame and then we get the other one up and he ties it to the frame. We both decide to work on the door, it wasn't easy either. We use the bamboo to make the door frame and the door, using the large leaves to fill in the cracks we finally figure out how to make it swing back and forth to open and close it. We use pieces of bamboo and vines to make the door latch. We even have a window that we can shut on the far wall so those animals can't get in. Next up is the roof. After watching Blue Lagoon 1 and 2. I told Christian what we should do. Working together we were able to get the roof up. We had to tie tons of bamboo together and use the leaves to cover them up. We just tied each bamboo to the frame of the house. After we were done I looked at it and was amazed at what we did. "So Christian do you want to make two beds or just one?" teasing Christian. Christian looked at me. "So how would we go about doing that?" I think for a moment. "Well we can sleep on the floor and I can weave together some floor mats to sleep on if you want." Christian smiles. "Later I can figure out how to make the beds, right now we should get everything from the plane and bring it here." I nod. "We can also make a fire close by the house so we can cook close by." We proceed to get everything from the plane; I mean everything from the first aid kit to everything that was on the plane. It took along time, but we didn't want to leave anything on the plane. The last thing we got was our luggage and I'm already tired from the day. The house is big enough for everything. I put everything in the corner and start on the floor mats. Christian uses rocks he found and proceeds to make a safe place to cook. I strip down to my tank top and shorts. I work on the sleeping mats. I found two pillows in the plane and we'll use those for sleeping. I finish the first one. I had mine left to go. It should help a little bit at least until we get the beds made. I finish mine and come out to check on Christian. I smile when I see what he had done. "Hey that looks great." Christian smiles at me. "Thanks. I used the stones around it to keep the fire in one place so, we don't start the whole island on fire." Christian sets the flat grill on top of the stones and it fits perfectly on top. "Looks great, I finished the mats, it's not going to be much of a difference as sleeping on the floor, sorry." Christian smiles. "It's ok I don't like soft beds, they hurt my back." I smile at Christian. "Same here, come on let's organize what we got out of the plane." Christian comes inside the house. "I was thinking of making storage areas over here for the stuff we got out of the plane, I mean we can leave our clothes in the suitcases, but this other stuff we should think about putting it some where out of the way." Christian nods. "Tomorrow, right now I'm starving and I want to catch supper." Christian grabbed the net. "Ready?" Later that night as we eat our first meal in our new house, it had cooled off and I noticed that Christian was quiet, he ate his fish and fruit quietly. I didn't know what to say, so I decided not to say anything. Christian finally spoke. "So you learned all this by watching movies?" I nodded, "Yeah, but I never knew I'd have to use the knowledge like this before." I set down my plate that just had the small fish bones on it. I had eaten all my fruit and the fish. "And everyone says that watching movies is bad." I smile. Christian laughs and I laugh with him, because he has this laugh that is just contagious. I drink the rest of my water up and then grab the plates and empty them outside and come back in and put them in a bucket of water I had filled up I got from the waterfall. "Don't worry I'll wash them tomorrow, speaking of washing, I'll need a clothes line to dry everything, think you can make me one tall enough for me?" I ask Christian. Christian nods. "Sure, tomorrow." I get up and grab my toothbrush and brush my teeth. I then go and lay down on the floor of the house, pulling the blanket on me and resting my head on the pillow. I turn to my back and stare at the ceiling. "Good night Christian." I finally turn to my stomach and close my eyes. "Goodnight Morgan." Christian whispers to me as I try to fall asleep, thoughts are running through my mind as I wondered how long we were going to be here. I fall asleep. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
