Opting to walk into the city rather than drive (she had seen that traffic first hand…are you kidding?! >_< ), Adrienne leisurely strolled down the cramped sidewalk. The pace of Seoul compared to home was…well like black and white. She was taking aback at first by the amount of people and how fast they all moved, considering the spatial constraints. She had successfully managed to escape undetected by Jun. The man was on a mission…and she was it. Adjusting her purse on her shoulder, she stepped into what looked to be some sort of café or coffee shop. It sort of reminded her of home, thus providing a bit of peace for the time being. Ordering a small iced coffee, she patiently waited for her order to be filled. She took the time to continue people watching. It seemed that the teenage habits she had witnessed…and unfortunately lived through, surpassed nationality boundaries. The teenagers here were just as silly and spastic as they were back home. It’s nice to see that some things are universal.
Thanking the man for her coffee, she continued on her shopping escapade. She had kept her wardrobe painstakingly minimal while she was living in the US, just because she hadn’t really liked most of the fashion fads that had swept her generation. So, she looked upon this as an excuse to indulge in the many years she had passed it up. Plus with the money that she and her mother had saved from her father’s life insurance, plus selling the shop and a lot of their stuff (house included)…let’s face it, she could indulge! She sipped her coffee, grimacing at the slightly bitter taste.
I suppose that they like it less sweet here…mental note: next time add sugar
She stopped in front of what seemed to be a pretty fashionable shop. It was kind of sporty, not so girly or fru fru as she had seen in a lot of other places. She wasn’t a tomboy by any definition of the word, but come on…how much lace and how many ruffles can a person take in one lifetime. She tossed her empty coffee cup into the trash can at the entrance and began to browse the clothes that were hanging from walls and racks.
Cute…at least there is one thing good about moving… better shopping. Nicole will love it when she comes to visit.
Frowning slightly at the thought of her best friend, she whipped out her phone and sent her a quick text message:
You will not believe how today has been…ugh, I will tell you about it later, anyway, I’m out shopping right now…all I have to say is that you will love it when you come visit me, so save your moo-lah. BTW…always add sugar to Korean coffee…lylas
Tucking her phone back into her purse she continued her browsing. She had picked up a couple pairs of jeans and a few shirts before finally making her way to shoes. Her eyes glazed over at the sight of probably a hundred absolutely wonderful shoes at her disposal. She did everything in her power not to squee in delight as she dropped her items onto a bench and began grabbing various shoes off the holders. Once the salesperson had brought out her sizes she began to furiously try on everything.
Oh man…they are all so cute…I want them all…
Finally stopping to breathe and contemplate her decisions, she couldn’t help but pick up on the conversation between a group of guys standing by the dressing room. They were all pretty cute…cuter than most of the guys back home. They reminded her a lot of the pop stars that she always admired.
“Yoochun…Jae will you please hurry up…geez you guys spend more time trying stuff on than my little sister,” whined the one wearing a red shirt and cap.
“Yeah, you guys don’t have to look perfect for a freaking mirror!” added the one with lighter brown hair. A voice echoed out of the fitting room area in obvious disgust, “What do you two know; this is why Yoochun and I are cuter and get more girls! Right Yoochun….Yoochun?”
After a few seconds of silence, a grunt was heard and then finally another voice joined the conversation, “I’m not getting into the middle of your girly debate, defend your habits without my help. Arg, I got the wrong size…” Loud shuffling and grunting was heard before a tall figure emerged carrying a large amount of clothes in his arms.
“Here, Changmin, hold these while I go get the right sizes,” he said as he dumped the pile of clothes into the arms of the unexpecting guy standing next to the previous two.
“Whaa? Hey! I’m not your personal closet! And I agree with Junsu and Yunho, hurry up, I’m hungry!” Yoochun waved mindlessly as he made his way to the other end of the store and the group dispersed after a few minutes.
I suppose they gave up waiting. Heh…what an amusing group of guys.
Adrienne refocused her attention on the array of shoes in front of her and picked out three pairs and handed them to the salesperson to hold for her as she continued to shop. Getting from her bench, she stretched a bit and shifted out of the way of the young man coming back towards the dressing room, holding yet another armful of clothes. She couldn’t help but snicker to herself:
He really is like a girl
Her snickered was halted by the sound of a voice calling out her name.
No it can’t be
“Min?! Min are you in here?”
Ohh no no no it couldn’t be…how could he find me? Jun must be smarter than he looks…or crazier…
“Oh Min? I followed you the best I could, you are pretty stealthy. You must have been in a hurry, you forgot to tell me you left! Min are you in here??”
Panic began to surface as she frantically searched for something to hide behind. Unfortunately, all the shoes were mounted on the wall, providing no good hiding places.
Damn my shoe fetish
Quickly glancing around, she breathed a sigh of relief when she noticed the changing rooms. Perfect!! Grabbing her purse she bolted for the room. She jiggled handles, frantically trying to find an open one. Relief than rushed over her as finally a door swung open and she swiftly hid herself behind it. Leaning against the wall she closed her eyes and gulped air as quietly as she could.
“Ahem…” Adrienne started when she heard the sound that was distinctly male. Cringing she slowly peeked one eye open. Before her stood the young man she had previously seen with the group of guys. Scantily clad in his boxers, he had stopped midway as he was trying on a pair of jeans. With a seemingly bewildered look on his face, he blinked a couple times before he noticed how little he was actually wearing. Adrienne blushed and quickly averted her eyes. The guy, now blushing furiously, quickly dressed himself and cleared his throat, giving Adrianne the ok to open her eyes.
“Do you mind telling me what you are doing?” he inquired, seemingly annoyed. Still hearing Jun’s voice in the background, Adrienne motioned to her dressing room partner to keep his voice down. “Look I’m sorry, I was just looking for a place to hide. My cousin’s friend seems to have developed a fancy for me, after only meeting me for five minutes. You’re dressing room was the first door to open for me so I figured it was unoccupied.” She crawled up on the seat so that her feet were hidden from the outside…to anyone who might think to look at the floor.
“Well it is occupied…and even though it is extremely inappropriate, I can’t help but sympathize.” he replied, shooting a smug look in her direction. It was true, he was quite handsome. It wouldn’t be hard to believe that he would have a pack of females stalking him at ever corner. However, Adrienne didn’t particularly like smug guys, and took it as a personal mission to knock them off their self-imposed pedestals. “Yeah well, that’s hard to imagi…” Adrienne cut her self off mid sentence as Jun’s voice boomed into the dressing area.
“Miiiiiiiiin, I thought I saw you come back here. You don’t have to hide from me. I like shy girls! Please come out so I can sweep you off your feet with my manly charms!!”
Adrienne stifled a snort as she tried not to laugh and her new "friend" seemed to be having the same problem. Shaking his head, he waved at Adrienne to stay back as he cracked his dressing room door. Peering out, he saw the starry eyed fool looking underneath stalls. His friend, Jaejoong had also peered out of his own room, obviously curious as to what the commotion was about. Yoochun, snickered as he looked at Jun.
“Hey, lover boy!” he yelled,”Unless you are carrying those flowers for my girly looking friend over there, I suggest to look elsewhere for your love. There aren’t any girls back here. Didn’t you see the sign out there; this is a men only dressing room!” He gave him an annoyed stare as Jun blushed, looking back and forth between the two guys. Adrienne covered her face with her hands and tried not to groan
Why didn’t I see that sign?
Jun, now completely flustered, apologized and quickly left the dressing area. After a few minutes, Adrienne finally sighed loudly. In the past five minutes she had apparently forgotten to breathe.
“You’re welcome...” Adrienne jumped out of her calmness, remembering where she was. Blushing, she stepped down from the seat and bowed. “Look, I really am sorry, I didn’t mean to barge in on you or get you involved with my problem. Thank you for chasing him away, I really appreciate it.” She said, finally looking up at him.
He gave her a charming smile and replied, “Well it’s not every day that I get to save someone…. By the way, I think that you owe me dinner and drinks.”
Adrienne’s jaw dropped as she put her fists on her hips, “Well I…what’s the meaning of THAT, I thanked you, I think that’s enough,” she retorted, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Well, you practically saw me naked…doesn’t one wine and dine the object of their affection before the relationship gets to that level?” he asked, grinning mischievously at her.
You’ve got to be kidding me…who does he think he is!
“Object of…relation… WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!” she shouted as she raised herself on the tips of her toes to seem more threatening. “Look, I don’t know who you think you are, but there is no way that I’m buying you dinner and drinks. I said thank you and I meant it, that’s enough.” She turned swiftly to grab her purse as she tried to fling the door open.
A hand slammed back down on the piece of wood, quickly shutting it. She looked up with him in surprise; almost in fear that he was angry…she had heard about guys in Korea and a lot of their stances of the position of women and she didn’t feel like being a statistic today.
“Look, my friends were going to go out, and I guarantee they would get a kick out of this story...” she blushed as she remembered how she first saw him in his boxers, “minus the almost naked part” he coughed and continued. “You can come with us, pay for my drinks and maybe a little bite to eat, and nobody has to know about this embarrassing interlude…well except Jae…he’s heard everything but he will play along. I’m not letting you out till you agree.” He added as she tried unsuccessfully to open the door.
Exhasperated beyond belief, she finally sighed and pouted, “FINE, if it will get you off my back, FINE. In my defence, it's not MY fault that you didn't lock your door”
Ignoring her last comment, he nodded, obviously pleased with himself, “My name is Yoochun, and I assume that yours is Min, from what that guy was shouting across the store.” Adrienne nodded and gave a mumbled “Yeah” before she looked longingly at the door. Yoochun eased his weight and opened the door, giving a theatrical bow. Adrienne rolled her eyes as she exited the stall, glancing at the other guy standing outside the stall, looking thoroughly amused by the whole situation. Huffing, Adrienne stalked away to finish her purchases and get tonight over with.
If it’s not one guy, it’s another, GEEZ why can’t life just cut me a break once and a while
