Hey Fanny, thanks for your kind review. So at least someone seems to like my stuff. It encouraged me so much that I just had to start writing immediately. Thanks again.
So here's the next chapter, it's a bit short, but I hope you enjoy it anyway!

Chapter three
“It says three minutes so now you have to wait for three minutes...wait...WAIT...don’t look yet....one and a half minutes...”
These were definitely the longest three minutes in Katie’s whole life. She walked up and down nervously, roaming through her bathroom.
Jamie would be home in two hours, that was enough time to get ri of the test. 30 seconds left... “Don’t look yet...Don’t...still 10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...”
Katie hesitated. She gazed at the test which was lying on the little shelf in front of the mirror – the opposite side of the bathroom! So she couldn’t see the result from
where she stood.
She was scared stiff. Slowly, step by step, as if she was approaching a bomb, she made her way towards the shelf. She had to hold on to the cupboard as her legs
wouldn’t carry her. When she arrived she closed her eyes. She couldn’t look at the thing which might change her life forever.
“Okay, you have to look at it some time...just as a reminder...minus is not pregnant and plus...”
She didn’t dare finish the thought. She didn’t wanna know. But sooner or later she would have to find out. Better sooner than later. And with that she opened her eyes to
spot a big plus on the display.
“Oh shit!”, she whispered. She trembled back in shock and sat down on the bathing tub. A hand clutched over her mouth she couldn’t control the tears anymore. Her
uncontrolled sobs filled the silence of the empty apartement.
Despair took hold of her.
She was pregnant.
Pregnant with Orlando’s baby.
There was no doubt now.
What was she going to do now?
How would she tell Jamie?
And what about Orlando?
There was no doubt that he was the father.
She would have a baby...
Orlando’s baby...
Suddenly she heard the door open. “Honey? I’m home early!”
'Well, I figured that much by now', she thought sarcastially, but then paniced. She grabbed the test and its box and threw them into her drawer.
Jamie never checked that one.
“Honey? You home?”, he called from the living-room.
“I’m here in the bathroom!”, she replied struggling to keep her voice steady. “Just a second!”
She splashed some water into her face. Luckily he thought that she was sick, so it wouldn’t matter what she looked like. And she looked horrible.
One final deep breath and she went outside.
“Hey, honey, is everything okay with you?” He held out his arms and she thanfully accepted his offer.
He kissed her forehead and gazed at her suspiciously.
“So, you’re home early. How’d that happen?”
She tried to break away from him, but he held her.
“I took the rest off, ‘cause I thought you were sick...Have you been crying?”
This time Katie couldn’t stop the tears from coming. She clung to him and cried on his shoulder.
Why had she done that?
He was such a wonderful man. Every other woman would kill for a man like him.
Jamie held her tight. No questions asked. He just held her and whispered into her ear. He told her that he loved her and that everything was gonna be alright again.
Though she didn’t believe him, she calmed down and let him take her to the couch. She snuggled up to him still shaking and let him wrap her up in a blanket. There
she fell asleep – in his arms.

Katie slowly opened her eyes. She could hear Jamie in the kitchen. She turned to lie on her back – her hand on her belly.
There was her baby. In her tummy.
Her baby...Orlando’s baby.
It felt like a knife in her heart knowing that she was going to hurt him like that. She couldn’t do it.
He loved her too much.
She had to protect him. He couldn’t bear something like that.
He had been sober for two years now. He was getting his life back on track again. She couldn’t leave him now. After all, he had been the one who was there for her over
all these years, not Orlando.
But there was no way to protect him, except...
She couldn’t stand the mere thought of it. But in order to protect Jamie from harm – and his own self she just had to do it...
She had to get rid of it.

The two men were gazing at each other in silence.
A lot had happened since they had last seen each other, since they had been inseparable little boys. Time had changed them.
Jamie was the first to break the silence, “Hey, uhm, thanks for coming. It really does mean a lot to me, even though I haven’t talked that much yet...”
Orlando nodded, a weak smile on his lips. “I don’t know what to say, either, I guess only a sorry won’t do.” He didn’t look at him. No, it wouldn’t. Never.
“I’m sorry. Fuck, I’m sorry for taking off without a word and never calling. I’m sorry for...I don’t know...I just fucked it up. There too many things I’m sorry for...”
“So did I.”
What?”
“Fuck it up! I mean we were friends...best mates, and I just...that’s not what a friend should do. Friends don’t let a chick come between them, do they?”
“I don’t know man. I really don’t...”
“Well, I’m definitely not the one you should be worrying about anyhow. I’m just done with the past. But Katie...She’s the one you should be worrying about...I mean you
know her. Not a woman you’d want mad at you. And hell, man, she is mad at you.”
Orlando felt a sharp pain in his heart when Jamie mentioned her. It killed him only to hear her name. “I bet she is!” Oh man, you don’t know how right you are...
“See, Orli, I just wanna forget about all the shit that’s happened between us. After all I went through, I’m just done with it. I’m getting married in two weeks. My whole
life is back on track. And I owe it to her. She helped me back up on my feet when I was way down. And she deserves only the best I can give her. I wanna be the best
husband I can - for her. But I can’t do that when my past is still haunting me.
“Hey, hey, relax!” Orlando felt as if he would explode any second now. To hear Jamie, his childhood friend Jamie, talk about Katie, the love of his life, as his wife just
gave him the rest. He needed to change subject. “How far down were you?”
“Right at the bottom. A coupla weeks after you left, I lost my job, then my sister was diagnosed with cancer. I just couldn’t take the pressure and found my peace in the
bottle. Shit, I was bloody miserable. I don’t how, but somehow Katie managed to keep up with my shit and pull me up again.”
So there was no changing the subject today...
