Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. I do not know Gackt. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Disclaimer: Mwa...I own nothing. But that is okay because...HYDE and Gackt are still my slaves! bwhahaha! And we've been watching Moon Child non-stop!
A special thanks to Tanuki-chan for saying you liked my fic! *hugs and Gackt shaped cookies* Everyone: go to the J-rock misc. section and read her story entitled All You Need is Love. It's so cute; you'll love it! It has Shinya! And I LOVE Shin-Chan! ^_^
Also a BIG thank you to Fenris Mourningstar for inspiring me to get this done and out to the public quick! Thank you hun! ^_^
A/N: I know it's taken me a while to update and I'm sorry for that. * bows deeply * I've been playing Devil May Cry 3 like a fiend and I just recently had to take it back to the video store * sigh * So now all I have to do is write fan fiction! I bet that makes you few people reading this very happy, right? I hope so. I'm hoping I can get some good reviews out of this story because I'm going to try to make it as dramatic and angsty as I usually do with all my other stories. Of course it will have the happy points, but I'm really only good at writing angst/romance. Not a problem though right? I hope not! Thanks to the seven new people who reviewed. Now I have eight reviews! And I will try to make the chapters longer since someone said I should. But I won't be able to update as often because I'll be thinking 'Ah! It's not long enough!' I'm paranoid like that. Well, happy reading! (Oh! And I just got Gackt's The Sixth Day Single Collection in the mail! I've listen to it like ninety times already!)
Chapter 3
~
After covering himself in as many sheets, blankets, and pillows as he could, Hyde fell asleep listening to his own heavy breathing and the rain outside that had become strong enough to be considered a storm. Hyde had been shaking so badly when he had arrived home he could barely unlock his own door and had even more trouble locking it back when he got inside. He'd ran the whole way back and every noise around him was more terrifying than the last and when he saw someone that didn't look familiar he kept speeding up. After removing his coat and shoes and all his wet clothes, he'd buried himself under all the blankets from fear. He tried to tell himself that if he burried himself enough he'd be okay. It wasn't working and he couldn't even convince himself he was safe in his own home with the front door locked and his bedroom door locked. Every noise he heard made him more and more paranoid until he went to sleep out of exhaustion.
It had only been about half an hour when he woke up next, carefully removing the sheets and blankets off of himself and looking around the room to make sure everything was in its proper place. That way he could calm himself by knowing no one had broke in to his bedroom at least.
I should have just gone to college today. None of this would have happened.
He sighed heavily and lay back on his bed for a moment. He stared at the ceiling hoping that he could forget the whole event from that morning and not be paranoid like he had been earlier while running home. If it hadn't been for that one person…He didn't even want to think about it.
He finally gathered up enough strength to stand up and fish through his dresser for some sweat pants and put them on. He rubbed at his temples and headed towards the kitchen for some headache medicine.
As he walked down the hall to the kitchen, he stopped when he heard something moving around in the other room. It sounded like someone was going through a drawer or a cabinet.
Oh…my God.
He slowly and quietly backtracked to his room and found a knife in his top drawer. He pulled out the blade and headed back towards the kitchen praying that maybe some cat had just magically entered the house. Or maybe it was his imagination…Yeah, his very overactive, paranoid imagination.
He slowly walked up to the swinging door that opened to the kitchen and hoped to God that there really was some sneaky animal on the other side. He took a deep breath and pushed open the door, never expecting what he found on the other side...
"You woke up."
It was the man who had saved him earlier. Hyde couldn't believe it.
"You don't plan on using that do you?" the man asked. He was seated comfortably at the table, his feet propped up on one of the other chairs.
Hyde couldn't deny how handsome the man was. He was taller than Hyde, by several inches in fact, and was dressed in nothing but black. Black leather pants and blach shirt. Hyde did remember him wearing a white trench coat earlier, and it was slung carefully over the back of a chair. He had a cigarette in his mouth and on the table sat the ashtray Hyde usually used when he sat at that table.
Hyde quickly put the knife down on the counter, "What are you doing in here? How did you get in here?"
The man shook his head, "You left the door unlocked."
Hyde felt like a complete idiot. He was shaking so badly, no wonder he didn't get the door locked.
The man pointed at a chair, "Maybe you should sit down? You look scared to death."
Well yeah, I thought someone was trying to rob my house and kill me!
Hyde took the suggestion and sat in the chair across from the other. He decided the least he could do was play hospitible...
"So, what's your name?" he asked.
"Gackt. Yours?"
"Hyde..." for some reason he felt he had something else to say but he wasn't sure what it was.
"I'm sorry I scared you. Guess I should have knocked, or warned you I was here with a note under your door?"
"N-no. It's okay. I was just overreacting."
Gackt shook his head, "No you weren't. Anyone would have done the same thing. They would probably have a gun though."
"I don't know how to use one."
There was a moment of silence. Hyde stared at the surface of the table while Gackt sat smoking, tapping his cigarette into the ashtray every few moments.
"Thank you for earlier," Hyde said breaking the silence. He really couldn't thank him enough; if he hadn't been there...
"I think you already said thank you for that, but you are welcome," Gackt responded pushing the butt of his cigarete into the ashtray and leaving it there, "Nice house you have. Small, but it's nice."
"Thank you."
"Mind if I stay?"
That made Hyde look up, "E-excuse me?"
Gackt laid his head down on the table and crossed his arms underneath them, "I don't have anywhere to go. I'm at a dead end. So I figured that since I saved your life you'd be sort of willing to help me out now?"
Hyde really didn't know how to answer the question. For all he knew, this stranger went around saving people's lives by killing people, magically broke into their houses, asked them to stay, and then ran off later with everything they owned.
"You don't have to answer right now. I'll come by tomorrow morning and talk to you? If you say no...I'll be pretty much stuck, but I'm sure I can work something out," he sighed heavily.
"You can stay!" Hyde wasn't sure why he said it, but he couldn't help himself. Gackt had saved his life. The only way he could thank him was by saying "Thank you" about a million times over. And now he found that the other man had nowhere to stay, what other way to thank him but by helping him? Plus, having this guy sleep in his house would be a plus.
Stop thinking that way. Hyde mentally slapped himself.
"Really? It's not a problem?"
Hyde shook his head, "You'll have to help with the rent though. I can help you find a job if you want."
Hyde had been working at a book store since he'd moved out of his parents' home. It paid pretty good and the people were pretty nice when they weren't teasing him about his height.
For a second, Hyde swore he'd seen Gackt frown. It was gone as soon as it came though so he was't sure.
"I...Lost my job a while ago," there was no point in hiding it, Hyde had seen him shoot someone and steal from the corpse, "I just around shooting gang member and such and stealing whatever money they have on them. It pays pretty well and I get to work whenever I want," he chuckled at the last part. How am I going to tell him I'm a vampire?
"You keep frowning, is there something wrong?"
"Hm? Oh, there's nothing wrong. I was just thinking about something."
"Um...Do you want something to eat or drink?"
Gackt only shook his head. He'd eaten a few minutes after he'd met Hyde and sent the younger man running home.
Hyde kept feeling more and more awkward. This guy was going to be living with him? Had he really said it was okay?
Gackt was noticing how the shorter man was having second thoughts, "I can go if you need me to. I'm sorry for asuming this would be okay for you," he stood up grabbing his coat, "It was a stupid idea. Gomen," he bowed before he started walking towards the door.
Hyde hurridly jumped from his seat quickly walking to the other man before he reached the door, grabbing on to his wrist, "No. Really, it's okay. I'd feel safer anyway. Since you saved my life and all," he smiled, "Now I know you'll always be here to protect me."
This made Gackt feel much better. He nodded, looking down at the blond, "Arigato," he smiled back.
~
They spent the rest of the day watching some TV and listening to the weather report every hour. Gackt had gathered that Hyde was paranoid of storms and had some strange form of ADD that made him turn on the TV, forget it was on and go do something else. That, or whatever he was watching was just so boring it all melded into the same black picture making it appear as if nothing was on at all. Hyde was also apparently anorexic because Gackt hadn't seen him eat at all that day.
Hyde picked up the remote and changed it back to the weather channel, by Gackt's estimate, this was the 39th time he'd checked the weather.
Hyde directed his attention away from the TV to look at Gackt, "It's supposed to be pretty sunny outside tomorrow. Maybe we could go out and do something? Go out to lunch or whatever?"
Gackt didn't want to be rude and completely reject the offer so he thought it would be best to lie his way out of this one, "I...I don't really do too well in the sunlight. It bothers my eyes and I burn really easily," it wasn't a complete lie. It was actually the truth without the supernatural facts to back it up.
Hyde looked thoughtful for a moment, "Oh. That stinks, huh?"
Yes. Your flesh burning does stink after a while. "Yeah it does."
"Then why don't we go out for dinner?"
Gackt smirked, "Are you trying to ask me out on a date?"
Knowing he was blushing, the smaller man turned his eyes quickly to the carpet, "No. I-I-I just thought I'd be nice and treat you to dinner since you'll be staying with me." Gosh, we just met and he think I'm asking him out on a date?
"Shouldn't I be asking you since you're letting me stay here? But if you're offering..."
"I am! You said yourself you lost your job. I don't expect you to go paying for my dinner. Plus, I thought it would be nice to go out to an actually restraunt for once. It wouldn't be very nice if I asked you to go and then expected you to pay for it."
Gackt laughed, "I like your way of thinking. So," he took out a cigarette from the carton in his pocket before tossing the empty box on the coffee table between the two couches, "why were those guys pickin' on you? Just the average 'Give me all your money or I kill you' sort of thing?"
Hyde nodded, "I've never been robbed before. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't even really pay attention to what he was saying. I'm pretty sure that's why he hit me," it wasn't until he said that that Gackt noticed the small bruise above Hyde's left eye.
Gackt got up from his seat, walked over to Hyde and brushed the smaller man's bangs away from his eyes, "Wacked you good, hun?" he observed.
Hyde blushed, "Yeah..."
Gackt noticed that Hyde was starting to look tired, "So, where do I sleep? It's late and you're looking tired."
Hyde hadn't even realized how late it had gotten, "Um, I'll show you to the guest room."
Gackt had missed the feeling of sleeping in an acutal bed. He'd missed sleeping all together. He just hoped the guest room had some curtains that wouldn't let the sunlight in...

At first I didn't like this chapter because I felt it was much too rushed, but after I re-read it, it didn't seem that way at all. So now I'm very proud of how it came out.
Since I finished the chapter on a weekend, I had to spell check it by myself. (I didn't want to Monday to take it to school, spell check it on my computer there, and post it then.) I do still hate the first paragraph. I got the point across, but I hated it once I read it the second time. The rest I'm quite proud of. Mind you this rarely ever happens. I usually find everything about a story to hate. This is usually when writing fanfiction. I'll always think I've done something to make characters too OOC and that fans will destroy me in my sleep.-_-;; I'm not so paranoid when writing original fiction. I can do whatever I want with those characters. They are my bitches. mwhaha
I know it may seem odd that Hyde isn't wondering how Gackt found his house in the first place...He'll ask about that next chap. He was more worried about how he got in at the time.
