It didn’t matter how many times she looked at it, the answering machine was still going to say ‘no messages’. Tallie flipped up the lid to see if the miniature tape had moved at all, it hadn’t and no matter how many times she willed those red digital words to flash back at her, nothing was going to change. Why hadn’t Jamie called, not that he had said in so many words that he would but she had expected something, at least a message or something. She glanced at the clock, it was six thirty already. She would have been home earlier but she had taken a detour to buy some new underwear for Jamie. The crotchless panties and matching bra lay on the bed, still wrapped in tissue, Tallie knew how much Jamie had a thing about crotchless knickers but she had never had the inclination to purchase a pair, until now.
By half seven Tallie was more than ready. She had chosen a black shoulderless top that laced up at the front and raised up slightly at her waist teamed with a short denim skirt with lace top hold ups. The bra felt stiff and itchy and the panties, well they felt like they were either spilt or weren’t there at all. Jamie had better appreciate this, she thought as she grabbed her keys and hurried out of the front door. Jamie lived in the next street, so Tallie didn’t have much time to feel like a fool as she clacked her heels down the pavement towards his front door. It felt like every passing car could see those damn knickers. She knew, of course that they couldn’t but the thought was overcoming any other right now. Stabbing the doorbell with a pointy nail, she stood back to give the approaching Jamie the full effect of her outfit. There was no answer and Tallie waited two minutes before ringing longer, irritatingly longer, the type of longer that would demand an answer. Eventually a dishevelled face peeked around the door.
“Tal, what d’ya want? “
“Jamie, can I come in?” She looked past him expectantly and he closed the door tighter.
“I’m kind of busy right now.”
“Are you sure about that?” Tallie slid one hand up towards the hem line of her skirt, lifting it slightly.
“Yes, look I told you last night Tallie, it’s over. I don’t want you any more, and that’s not gonna change.” Jamie sighed. Tallie was about to show him exactly what he would be missing but stopped as she heard a voice call out from behind him.
“Jay, sweetheart are you coming back to bed?” a tall blonde appeared behind him, wrapped only in a towel. Tallie scowled at her.
“Who’s this?”
“This is Rebecca, um we met at the club earlier. Look, you got to face it Tallie we are finished and you being here dressed like that it’s just...”
“Face it dear, you’re embarrassing yourself and us both at the same time. Jamie is so over you already so why don’t you go do the same.” Rebecca smirked, licking at Jamie’s earlobe. Tallie stood for a moment looking from one face to the other before she felt her lip trembling and turned to run back down the path. Not looking back she ran until she reached the steps up to her apartment and, tripping in her haste threw herself back inside the door. Standing in front of the mirror her reflection laughed back at her ‘you try too hard’ .Grabbing the alarm clock from the bedside table Tallie launched it with full force at the mirror, as the glass cracked and distorted her image she stared angrily through her tears at the mess that stood before her. Broken glass shattered by her feet and the love that had turned to hate began to show through.

Billie stood apprehensively at the doors to the Malvern apartments. He had two choices, either go home and forget about the whole thing or ring every damn doorbell in the place to work out where she lived. Whilst still deciding an elderly woman stuck her head out of the ground floor window.
“What ya doing hanging around my front door?” She shouted.
“Um, I’m looking for Taliana . Do you know which number she is?” Billie asked, wishing he had never bothered.
“Huh, yes how could any of us not know where she lives.” the old woman snorted. “Follow the racket and you’ll gt to 102, that’s the one.” With that she slammed the window and disappeared. Billie stood for a moment, not understanding what she was on about until he opened the door. From the distance loud music could be heard and by the time he got the lift up to 102 it was pretty obvious where it was coming from. He rang the door bell and knocked twice but there was no answer so he pushed at the door and it swung open. Tallie was no where to be seen but the sight that lay before him was of chaos. Broken picture frames, mirrors and ripped up papers littered the floor to the sound of ‘Ever fallen in love’ by the Buzzcocks which blared from the stereo. Billie followed the mess through to the bedroom where Tallie sat on the bed ripping up yet another piece of paper. She took a moment to register that he was there before she turned to stare up at him. Her face was full of anger yet tears were threatening behind her eyes.
“What are you doing here?”
“Your bag..you left it at the hangar and I thought that maybe you might need your spaghetti gum.” Billie waved the bag in front of her face. Tallie grabbed it and tore it open.
“So..no thankyou again...”
“Yeah, sorry thanks.” Tallie muttered, pushing aside the teddy bear that she had mutilated with a pair of scissors.
“Either you’ve had a burglar or you’ve got some serious issues with someone.” Billie began, sitting down on the bed beside her.
“Not that it’s any of your business but my boyfriend dumped me last night.” Tallie managed to say through angry tears.
“Sorry I didn’t realise.” He sat back waiting for her response, not wanting to get her in an even worse mood. “I’m guessing here that he cheated on you or something...”
“Yes,” Tallie snapped back. “Is it that obvious that I’m a worthless ugly cow.”
“No, no. It’s just from the broken things and ripped up papers and photos.. It reminded me of when someone broke up with me a few years back, that’s all.” Billie replied quietly, picking up a plastic teddy bear eye. Tallie softened for a moment, could it be that he actually understood what she was going through?
“I thought it was something I could repair but it’s not. It’s over and that’s what I’m doing, everything he touched is gonna be over..” With that she jumped up onto the bed, an insane look in her eyes and grabbed hold of a photo album that lay beside her. Screaming she ripped out every page before running over to the mirror in the corner of the bedroom, grabbing a shoe she bought her hand back to smash the mirror. The motion was stopped, Billie’s hands held onto her own and in the mirror she could see her reflection, make up stained, clothes torn, yet held in suspension while he stared at her in the mirror. She remained motionless while his other hand slid around her waist.
“Let...me...go.” She frowned up at her reflection, denying the feelings that were pulsing through her at his touch.
“I’m not gonna let you do this any more.”
“What?”
“Smash your place up, and all your stuff. You are so going to regret this tomorrow.”
“Believe me, I know what I’m doing!” Tallie seethed up at him. “Some girls go cut themselves or take over doses over guys. Me, I break stuff, I wreck it, I bring it down. You tell me which is better for my health...you tell me!” She gritted her teeth in angry pose and glared up at him, expecting him to drop his grip and leave but instead he held on, dropping the shoe and bringing his hand to the other side of her waist. Forgetting her complaints, Tallie leaned back enjoying the feel of his hands under her top.
“Calm down...” Billie whispered, kissing her neck until he reached her jaw. He sensed her arousal as she moaned to his touch, her eyes were shut as his hands slid down over her breasts, through the fabric the tingling electricity of his touch made Tallie shudder as she had not expected. Billie moved his hands further, down to the hem of her skirt and waited, not touching her skin. Tallie moved nearer, silently craving more of the sensation of his soft fingers upon her skin. He waited a moment and then stroked a hand softly beneath her skirt, his fingers paused on the lace and then the soft skin beneath. Tallie jumped slightly, wanting him to touch her more intimately but he would not.
“Don’t touch me like that?” She breathed through the darkness.
“Why not?” Billie questioned, in her ear. Tallie did not know, all that she knew was that the feeling was getting too intense to tell anything, this guy did something. He aroused her, he interested her, and she wanted more from where that came from.
