Chapter Three
“Have you seen the new guy?” Claire the make-up artist asked Jan the hairdresser as Orlando sat in the chair having his hair styled.
“Which guy?” Jan asked.
“Jeff's new guy. He's in props, He is so cute and polite.” Claire smiled. “A bit young but I wouldn't mind breaking him in.” She caught Orlando's raised eyebrow in the mirror and giggled.
“Ladies...I'm just a young innocent myself.” He flirted.
“Yeah right.” They both replied in unison.
“So what's his name?” Jan asked.
“Logan. Isn't that hot?” Claire asked. Orlando rolled his eyes but couldn't keep the grin off his face. Helen and Jan were gossipy but they seemed nice and they had never made a play for him, which he appreciated, he was sick of women throwing themselves at him.
“Just go easy on the poor boy.” Orlando asked of Claire.
“Oh I'm just looking, no harm comes from that.” Claire winked and Orlando had the feeling that Logan in props just may get broken in by Claire.
“They're ready on set Mr. Bloom.” An assistant called from the doorway.
“I'll be right there.” He said as he stood up. “How do I look ladies?”
“Well we did the best we could.” Helen teased. He smiled at her and then left to go to set.
Logan stood off to the side of the stage and watched the actors, it was a dramatic scene where the actress, Suzy Glass, was hearing the news that her father was behind an evil terrorist plot to take over the United Nations so that his weapons company could get a huge grant from the U.S. Military, and she was supposed to break down and cry, with Orlando Bloom comforting her. Logan had to admit she managed to cry on cue and still look gorgeous as she sobbed against Orlando's shoulder crying “No..it's not true.” Logan was waiting for the scene to end so she and Jeff could go back on the set and reposition any moved props so that the scene could be re-shot. This was the fourth take already and Logan hoped it was the last, so that they could all break for lunch. The best part of this job wasn't the money, which was pretty damned good, but the craft services table. Where the cast and crew were treated to huge amounts of free food. She also got to wear whatever she wanted to so she was back to her baggy sweat shirts. She felt more comfortable hiding her curves away from sight.
“Cut!” Called out the director and they all huddled around the screen to see how the take turned out. Apparently it was good because the Production Assistant called for a one hour lunch break. Logan breathed a sigh of relief and followed Jeff over to the craft services table where she began to heap a large amount of luncheon meats onto an onion bun.
“Where do you put all that food?” A voice beside her said and she jumped, a natural reaction from living with Chad for so long. It was Orlando, smiling his question at her plate of food.
“I have a fast metabolism.” She said making her voice deeper then her usual voice.
“It's Logan right?” He asked, loading up his own plate with sliced vegetables and some vegetarian lasagna. Logan nodded. “Well you already have a fan club here on set.”
“Claire?” Logan asked with an exasperated sigh.
“She likes you.” Orlando nodded.
“She scares me.” Logan admitted with a laugh.
“Awww...she's a nice girl.” He told Logan.
“Yeah, I guess. She's just not my type.” Logan said suppressing a giggle at her own comment. Being away from Chad for almost a month was already improving her outlook on life.
“So are you going to the party on Saturday?” He asked.
“Jeff invited me, but I don't really know anybody.” Logan made the excuse.
“Well you know me and Claire and Jeff. Come on it will be fun. You can wear a costume and Claire won't know who you are.” Orlando suggested.
“I haven't got a costume.” Logan tried to wriggle out of the party. She wanted nothing more then to stay home and relax.
“Come on. It's New York at Halloween. You're young, single and attractive. You can not stay home.”
“Well...what could I go as?” Logan asked, finally giving into it all.
“Anything, hobo, ghost, vampire...cowboy.” He suggested.
Maybe a cowboy. I could wear a big hat.”
Sitting across from Logan, Orlando wondered why he seemed so skitish. Like he was going to jump out of his skin at any moment. And what normal guy didn't want to hang out at a party with models and actresses? Something was up with Logan and Orlando was surprised by his own desire to know what it was.
“What are you going as?” Asked Logan.
“Harry Potter.” He replied seriously.
“Really? That's too funny.”
“I know I even have the cape and the scarf.” Orlando said eagerly.”So come by my hotel first and we'll get ready and then we can go to the party together.”
“Cool.” Logan said He wrote his address down on a napkin and gave it to Logan who tucked it into his pocket and began eating his sandwich while Orlando chattered on about a stunt that was coming up in a few days.
While he talked Orlando studied Logan, he had dark hair as far as he could tell by what peeked out from under the hat, his eyebrows matched, they seemed a bit sculpted, as if Logan waxed them. He had clear green eyes, with flecks of brown in them, his bottom lip was much fuller then the top lip and Orlando imagined that the girls probably loved his mouth. His skin was amazingly smooth and clear, not a hit of stubble anywhere, being a man with very little body or facial hair, Orlando didn't find that so unusual. There were a few flaws, a scar above the lip, just running from the center to almost the left side and the nose was slightly crooked, probably he had broken it at some point. He also noticed a small reddish brown mark on the side of Logan's neck, it was circular, maybe a birthmark, Orlando thought. He wasn't very big, nor was he small. Probably three or four inches shorter then Orlando, pretty skinny, even to Orlando who had managed to build up his normally skinny frame for the movie. Logan was at least 30 pounds lighter then Orlando's normal weight. And he never really looked Orlando in the eye, not like a drug addict or a criminal, but like someone who didn't want to let you in. Feeling like a big brother toward the lad, Orlando decided to take him under his wing. After all he had been a kid once before too.
“We are going to have a great time Saturday night.” Orlando said confidently.
