Mikey sat with his gaze fixed on the young woman before him. By the looks of her, she had obviously been her for a while. He had questions, sure, but he figured he might as well start with the basics.
“What’s your name?” He asked.
“Amy.” She said quietly.
“Hi Amy, I’m Mik-”
“I know who you are, Michael James Way.” She cut in, “Well, I’ve always wanted to meet you. It’s a shame it couldn’t have happened under better circumstances.” She said with a small smile as she looked down at herself. Mikey couldn’t believe it. Out of all the people, he was stuck with a fan. But she seemed nice.
“Amy?”
“Yes Michael?”
Mikey sighed, “You know, you don’t have to call me Michael, Mikey is fine.”
“Oh but we’ve only just met,” She continued in her British accented voice, “I’d rather keep the formalities until we’ve gotten to know each other a bit more.” She smiled sincerely at him. She really was a proper Englishwoman.
“Well then, is Amy short for something?” He half joked until she replied.
“For Amethyst actually.”
Mikey raised his brows, “Well, okay then, Amethyst?” Amy nodded for him to go on, “Where exactly are we?”
“I’m not really sure.” Mikey’s face fell at not knowing where they were, “I don’t remember ever seeing the outside of this room.”
“Wait,” Mikey started, “How long have you been here?”
Amy shook her head, “I don’t know. There are no windows so there’s no way to know what time of day it is or whether it’s night or day.”
“Who brought us here? How did they get you?” Mikey began his interrogation.
“Men.” She stated, “As far as I know, there’s only two of them. I was at the airport.” She furrowed her brows as she recalled what happened, “There was a house fire, where I lived in London. I lost my entire family in that fire. I was the only one who managed to survive. I had no other living relatives so I decided to come to the states. Start a new life.” Mikey stayed silent as Amy took a breath and went on, “Once I arrived at the airport, I found my way to the valet parking, hoping to get some information about car rentals. I don’t really remember what happened after that. All I remember is waking up here.”
Mikey took in her story then asked, “What do these guys want from us? What have they done to you? Do they hurt you?”
Amy fidgeted slightly from the questions. Mikey noticed how she was stalling from answering the question. Then he saw how she pulled her knees up to herself and wrapped her arms around them in a sitting fetal position.
“They don’t- I mean, they haven’t-?”
“Yes.” She said shortly, “Yes, they rape me.”
Mikey gasped, “How-? How many times?” He asked.
“I don’t know for sure.” Her voice began to quiver, “I-I lost count a-after 28.” She buried her face in her knees.
“Oh my god.” Mikey was at a loss of what to say.
“And that’s not even the worst of it.”
“What could be worse?” He asked.
“Well, the first few times they would use a condom. Then they got tired of the boundary so they started giving me the pill instead. They said if I ever got pregnant they’d kill me.” Tears began to brim her eyes as she went on, “I dread the day they get tired of giving me the pill.” She buried her face in her knees once more and began to sob.
Mikey wanted nothing more than to wrap his arms around her and tell her everything was going to be alright. However, the cages kept him from getting anywhere near her. He was forced to just sit there and watch as salty tears streaked down her pale face.
He felt so helpless, not being able to comfort her. He did the only thing he could think of that might sooth her. He slowly and quietly began singing part of the chorus to Disenchanted…
“You're just a sad song with nothing to say
About a life long wait for a hospital stay
And if you think that I'm wrong,
This never meant nothing to ya”
Amy looked up from her earlier position to glance at him, “Michael, I didn’t know you sang.”
Mikey smiled slightly, “Yeah, well, I don’t make it a habit.”
She returned his smile and sat quietly listening as he continued singing quietly to her.
He stopped abruptly, however, when the sound of a door opening and closing could be heard from above. There was a rumble of thuds as people walked around the floor above them.
“Oh god, they’re back.” Amy said, huddling in a corner of her cage.
Mikey sat up on his knees and gripped onto the metal of the cage as he saw light pouring into the dark room. Now he could see. They were clearly in a basement. Where, he still didn’t know. There was a shadow on the wall now. No, strike that, two shadows made it clear that a pair was descending the stairs.
Mikey’s heart rate sped up as the figures came closer.
“Well, well, look who’s awake.”
A/N: Well there’s chapter three! Hope you all are enjoying it, if you are, let me know! For the most part, I have this story planned right up till the very last scene. So let’s hope it turns out as well as it is in my head. : )
