After Gerard left the bathroom he heard Jera’s voice call to him, “Oh and before I forget, you better take your shoes off if you know what’s good for you. My mom would go up the wall if she found big shoe marks on her new carpet.” Gerard smiled and sat down on the floor outside of the bathroom. He took his shoes off and placed them beside him along with his leather jacket as he leaned against the wall and waited. He wasn’t sure how long Jera would take so he pulled a small sketch book out from his backpack and began to draw.
Jera dipped her right foot in the hot water first. She had never been so happy and scared before, she was also never this confused. As she brought her other foot in the tub and lowered her whole body into the steaming water, her skin started to get covered in goose bumps. She was able to lay out and have her whole body under the water because the bathtub was slightly bigger than normal tubs. Her head rested on a soft bath pillow that was sticking to the side of the tub.
‘Hmm, Gerard’s out in the next room, and I’m in here completely nude,’ Jera thought to herself, ‘I’m naked, Gerard’s right there’ she continued to think, ‘what the hell am I thinking, the door is unlocked he could just come in here at any moment. But ohh, this feels so nice…’
Jera began to let her eyes close when she thought she saw something start to come out of the faucet, she screamed.
Gerard scrabbled to his feet as he heard Jera yell again.
“GET IN HERE!” she hollered.
In his haste he stumbled over his shoes that were lying next to him. Gerard threw open the door, almost falling inside, entering the bathroom. Jera looked at him in shock.
“What are you doing in here, GET OUT!” she also yelled when she saw his face.
“But you just said…” Gerard tried to say.
Jera sceamed again.
“What, What?” Gerard asked.
“Something is touching me at the bottom of the tub,” she said.
“What’s it feel like?” Gerard asked slowly, tying to keep her calm as the assessed the situation.
“It’s moving, and it’s bubbling and-” Jera’s words were cut off as her head started to sink beneath the surface of the bubbly water.
Gerard acted fast as he reached his hands in to pull her head back above the water.
“Hey Jera, come on, you just passed out I think,” Gerard said while holding her head up. Jera stirred and regained herself. “and by the way, they’re bath salts, I thought you’d like them.”
“Oh, I am so dramatic, I feel so pathetic…” she told him as she tried to hide her reddening face behind one of her hands.
“It’s ok, you didn’t know….that they were… just bath salts.” Gerard began to laugh at her flushed face. For once fleeting second he thought she could possibly be blushing, but instead he blamed it on the hot water, ‘She’d never blush about me, she wouldn’t go for a guy like me.’
“Oh, yeah great, laugh at me…..I’m getting out now, you get out of here so I can get out of the tub.” she said.
“No.” he said barely above a whisper, just loud enough for her to hear it.
“What?” she said.
Gerard had gone through enough trouble with fixing this up so far and wasn’t going to let her give up now, “Come on, I want you to enjoy this bath, and if you won’t do it alone I’ll help you…enjoy it.” he finished with a smirk that Jera missed. “Now put your head back on the head rest and relax, close your eyes, I’m here now.” Gerard said in a soft soothing voice.
Jera tried to trust him and did as he said.
Suddenly there were lips on her own. And as quickly as they were there, they left.
Jera opened her eyes and looked to the side of the tub where she was met with Gerard’s face looking back at her with an unreadable expression.
“Did you just kiss me?” she asked him.
