Chapter 3: As Long as You’re Here with Me
∞♥♥∞
The next day, we met Jeremy at the chosen restaurant. I was eager to get started on our house hunting, but of course we had to eat, so it might as well be with our new friend and real-estate agent.
Jeremy smiled when he saw Chris and I enter the restaurant. He stood up from where he had been sitting on a bench in the waiting area, and extended his hand to us. “Good morning. How did you sleep?” He flashed us a grin, displaying a perfect set of white teeth. I couldn’t help but imagine him as a model or a beach volleyball player—maybe a male model posing as a beach volleyball player.
“Dude, he’s staring at me.” Jeremy’s voice broke me from my train of thought.
Chris smirked. “Should I be jealous?” he asked me.
“What?” I was confused.
“You were staring at me like you were wishing I was on the menu,” Jeremy said, amused.
I blushed. “I was not! I was just thinking about something is all,” I said, grumbling the last part.
“What were you thinking of?” Chris asked, placing a hand over my back.
“I was thinking of how we should get seated now so that we have time to look at the rest of the houses today.” I quickly walked towards the hostess. “Three please.”
She smiled. “Right this way.
I followed right behind her, a little embarrassed about being caught, as she led us to our table. I hadn’t been checking Jeremy out. Honest! I was just admiring his good looks.
Chris sat down next to me, and Jeremy sat across from us, sitting towards the middle of his side of the booth.
We gave our drink orders and then looked over our menus. Once we had ordered, it was back to business.
“I have six houses for you to look at today. I’ve seen them all, and I have to say they are all very nice houses. I’m surprised some of them haven't sold already,” Jeremy told us.
“How many of them have fireplaces in the master bedroom?” I asked.
“Dude, what is with you and fire places? It's not like you really need them that often in LA,” Chris said.
I shrugged. “I like the atmosphere it gives. Trust me, you’ll be thanking me later once we’re sitting in our hot tub by the fire or lying in bed with the fire blazing a few feet away.”
“If you guys want, I could come into your room in the middle of the night and start a fire. You can just have a fire extinguisher nearby for when it starts to spread,” Jeremy joked.
Chris laughed, but I just rolled my eyes.
Jeremy raised an eyebrow. “No sense of humor, this one, huh?”
“Oh, he’s all for joking around—just not at his expense. I, however, find it being at his expense the most hilarious,” Chris said.
Jeremy chuckled.
“Hello? I’m still here. You both have a habit of talking about me as if I’m not right in front of you or next to you.” I turned to Chris. “And you! Some boyfriend.” I said the last part low enough so that no nosy bystanders nearby could hear.
“Ah, lighten up, dude, we’re just joking.” Chris rubbed my back for the briefest of moments, I’m guessing so that he didn’t come off totally hostile.
“Anyway, two of them have master bedroom fireplaces. Of course they are the slightly more expensive ones, but it’s still within your price range,” Jeremy said.
“Shall we even bother looking at the four homes that don’t have fire places?” Chris asked.
Jeremy smirked. “That’s a good question. I don’t think I can handle seeing another diva tantrum from Blake.”
He and Chris both laughed and gave each other a high-five.
I had had enough. I didn’t like to be made fun of, and as for the fire place thing, I didn’t see what was so hilarious. If I was going to be investing in a new place, I had the right to have what I wanted in it. Obviously I’m not the only one who wanted a fire place in the bedroom. If I was, then there wouldn’t be two houses that have one in the bed room. I stood up. “Bathroom,” I muttered before leaving for the bathroom and not looking back.
B∞C
“I think we upset him,” Jeremy said as we watched Blake head off to the bathroom.
I sighed. “That’s just Blake for you. One moment he’ll be in the greatest of moods, and the next he’ll be all moody, and in a foul mood. I guess we should lay off the teasing for a bit.”
Jeremy nodded. “Will do. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to set him off.”
I grinned. “It’s all right. With Blake, it’s unavoidable. People who know him well enough know that him being set off is inevitable at some point.
“How do you handle that all the time?” Jeremy asked.
I shrugged. “Love, man.”
Jeremy grinned. “I know what you mean. My girlfriend, Stephanie, can drive me insane sometimes, but God help me I love her. I’m sure I drive her crazy too at times.”
Our drinks arrived, and Jeremy took a sip of his orange juice. He set his glass back down.
“Exactly. I feel the same way when it comes to Blake,” I said in all honesty.
Jeremy and I continued to talk about the houses. It wasn’t until our food came that I thought of how odd it was that Blake was in the bathroom for so long.
I stood up. “I guess I had better go check on him.”
“Did we really make him that mad?” Jeremy asked.
I smirked. “I doubt it. I think he just wants attention. I love him, but he can sure act like a three-year-old sometimes.”
Jeremy laughed. “I feel for you, man.”
“I’ll be right back.” I headed to the bathroom to find Blake, hoping that his little tantrum would soon be over. I knew it really must be love that I had for Blake. Otherwise, I never would have put up with his tantrums.
B∞C
I knew I was overreacting. I just didn’t like being made fun of. I never liked it as a kid, and I certainly didn’t like it now—especially coming from my boyfriend and supposed friend.
I looked up when I heard the bathroom door open. I had locked myself in a stall, and was sitting on the closed toilet seat, so I couldn’t see who had come in.
“Blake, are you in here?”
I smiled. It was Chris. At least he had come in to get me. It was about time. Even so, I decided to make him wait just a bit longer. I didn’t say a word.
“Blake, I know you’re in there. I recognize your shoes.”
“What? I’m the only one with these shoes?” I asked, slightly annoyed that he had found me out so easily.
“I’m sure you’re not, but what are the chances of two people with the same shoes going into the same bathroom at the same time? Besides, you’re the only other one in here besides me.”
I sighed.
He knocked on the stall door. “Blake, open up and let me in. Please?”
I sighed again, but got up and unlocked the stall door before moving to sit back down on the toilet again.
He grinned when he saw me. “Hm, we never had sex in a bathroom before. Though we came close that on time you took that picture of me for my myspace.” He winked.
I couldn’t help but grin at the memory of that day. It was when we were still on tour. He wanted a new shot for his myspace, and he had on this sexy outfit that included pants that were quite tight on him. I made him pose many different ways, which quickly sent me on the road to arousal. The final shot was of him with his hand practically resting on his crotch. Had I not been a public bathroom, I would have dragged him into a stall and screwed his brains out. Instead, I settled for taking him against the bathroom counter in our hotel room.
“You remember, don’t you? How hot I got you?” Chris slowly crept towards me and sat on my lap.
“Man you’re heavy,” I said, not wanting to give in just yet.
He ignored me. “You got me quite hot too, you know. Remember how hard you got me, and how good I felt inside you? Of course, that was after I got to feel how good you felt inside of me.”
I smiled, no longer caring about being made fun of. I wrapped my arms around him, and kissed him. “Want to relive that moment right here, right now?” I asked.
His eyes were dark with the unmistakable look of lust, and for a moment, I thought he was going to say yes. However, my hopes were crushed as he shook his head.
“You know I’d love to, baby, but our food is here and we don’t want it to get cold.”
I shrugged. “I don’t mind eating it cold if it means I can have you. Besides, I’m sure if we asked, they’d warm it up for us.” I kissed the side of his neck, gently nipping at the area.
He closed his eyes. “What about Jeremy?”
“I told you—I’m not into threesomes,” I murmured, only half joking.
He smiled. “I’m serious.” He closed his eyes for a moment as I kissed the spot he loved below his ear. “We can’t keep him waiting. Besides, we want to have time to look at the houses, don’t we? We have to snatch one of those fire place homes up before someone else does.”
I stopped kissing him. “You got me. Let’s go. I made to head out the door, but he pulled me back by the back of my shirt, and kissed me hard.
I moaned into the kiss, and hungrily kissed him back, my tongue slipping into his mouth to play with his tongue.
“We can do so much more once we get our new place,” he said with a grin.
I grinned too. “I’m going to hold you to that!”
“You better,” he said as we headed out of the bathroom and back to the table.
“I’m sorry, man. I didn’t meant to upset you,” Jeremy said to me as Chris and I sat down. “A fire place in the bedroom is a very cool thing to have, I’m sure. Why shouldn’t you have what you want in your home?”
I smiled. “It’s all right. I guess I overreacted. Let’s just eat so that we can go look at those houses—all six of them.”
“Right on, brother,” Jeremy said with a grin.
Chris and I grinned at him in response, and I knew that everything was going to be all right.
B∞C
The first three houses were really nice. I kind of liked the second one we looked at, but of course it had no fire place in the bedroom, so Blake wasn’t as keen on it. He did admit that he liked it, however.
“If we had to get a place without a bedroom fire place, then this is the one I would want,” he said.
I grinned. “Remember, this is only our temporary home. One day we can get a much better place, and then I’ll make sure you get everything you want,” I told him.
“Well, as long as I have you, it will be a start.”
I grinned, and we kissed. It still felt weird to kiss in front of Jeremy, but I was getting used to it.
The fourth house was the first one that had a fireplace in the bedroom. I am sorry to say, I wasn’t too impressed with the rest of the house. The kitchen was small, and the dinging room was a sorry excuse for a dining room. We’d be lucky to squeeze in five people in it. It had a small living room, a foyer smaller than an average sized closet, and only two other bedrooms besides the master bedroom. There was no basement, and I just didn’t like it.
Blake wrinkled his nose. “I don’t like it. It’s too small. I know we wanted a small place, but...” He trailed off.
I grinned. “I don’t like it either.
“I figured it was since enough for a starter home. It has a fireplace in the bedroom like you like. I guess this would be the least nicest out of all the homes I’m showing you though,” Jeremy said.
“Let’s check out the final two. Maybe I’l like the other fireplace one,” Blake said.
“I’m sure you will. The place is nicer than this,” Jeremy said as we left the house.
“What wouldn’t be?” I muttered.
Blake playfully elbowed me, and kissed my cheek.
I smiled. I was glad to see him in a better mood.
The fifth house was all right, but it wasn’t as nice as the second house we looked at. The second house still had my vote. This one didn’t have a fireplace in the bedroom either.
When we to tot he sixth house, we found that that was the one with the other one with the fireplace in the bedroom, naturally.
“I like this place a lot better than the other one,” Blake said. “I’m still not sure though. I wish there were more houses to look at.”
“I liked the second one best myself,” I stated.
“But that one doesn’t have the fireplace!” Jeremy said.
Blake nodded. “Exactly!”
“You’ve got me liking fireplaces now. I bet it would be nice to cuddle up in a hot tub with the one you love, and drink Champaign while staring at the warm fire,” Jeremy said.
Blake nodded. “I know, right?”
“Maybe light a few candles around the place,” Jeremy added.
“And put on some soft music,” Blake chimed in.
I didn’t like what I was hearing. They were getting way too into this for my taste. And the tone of their voices almost sounded as if they were talking sexual to each other.
“I think we should just wait a bit more before finding a house. You’ll be in Nashville most of the time anyway, and I plan to get my Seattle place soon,” Blake said, turning back to me.
I felt my heart sink a little. I was worried about him backing out, but I never thought that he would! “Blake, no! I want to get a place with you now.”
“We shouldn’t rush into anything. Let’s wait until there is one we can both agree on. What’s the big hurry?” Blake asked.
“I want the second house. It’s perfect. I want to move in together now—not later. We’ll both be needing to stay in LA a lot for our careers. After I'm done with my album, I probably won’t be going back to Nashville unless someone needs me to write for them. Even then, I can write from anywhere, really.”
“The second one doesn’t have a fire place.”
“Who cares about a fricking fire place? As long as we have each other, that is all that maters. It’s not like it’s going to be our permanent home anyway.” I couldn’t help but be a little annoyed now. It seemed like he was making excuses not to move in together. I know he didn’t like LA, but he was going to have to live there at some point. As long as he had me, that is what should matter to him.
“I care.” Blake said, glaring at me.
“Why don’t you guys take some time to think it over and call me either tonight or tomorrow and let me know?” Jeremy asked, trying to stay out of it.
“Which place do you like best, Jeremy?” Blake suddenly asked, not letting him stay out of it.
Jeremy blushed. “Well, this one is nice since it has the fireplace. It would make for some romantic nights.”
“Yeah, it would, wouldn’t it?” Blake asked. “I don’t know.”
“You can do a little dance, make a little love, and get down tonight” Jeremy said, wriggling his butt in front of Blake and moving his arms in and out like the hamster on Doctor Doolittle did.
Blake laughed, and playfully swatted Jeremy’s butt.
My mouth dropped open. I could not believe he had just done that.
It wasn’t over. Blake then continued on to dry hump Jeremy from behind. “Get down tonight!” he repeated.
Joking or not, I was Inot amused.
“I’ll see you in the car,” I snapped. “Bye Jeremy. Thanks for finding us the houses.”
I then took off down the stairs and out of the house without waiting for a response from Blake or Jeremy. I got into the car on the passenger side, slouched down, and crossed my arms over my chest. So now only did Blake not want to move in with me, but he also wanted to flirt with another man right in front of me. Nice.
B∞C
“What’s his problem?” I asked out loud as Chris took off for the car.
“I think we went a little too far with our messing around. When you started dry humping me, he had the same look that Steph gets on her face when other girls flirt with me. I only love Stephanie. Sure I flirt back with those girls because I’m just a flirty kind of guy. I don’t mean anything buy it, but unfortunately Steph doesn’t care. So now I have to try not to flirt with others when I’m around her. I think Chris may be the same as Steph. I’m no relationship counselor, but it also might have something to do with you not being in a rush to move in with him. He seemed really eager to want to live with you,” Jeremy reasoned.
I scrunched my brows together. “You think so? I don’t know why. We’ll move in together eventually. I don’t see why it has to be right now.”
Jeremy shrugged. “Maybe he feels he’ll lose you if you keep putting this off.”
“He’ll never lose me. I won’t keep putting it off. Maybe now just isn’t the right time to move in together.”
“When will the right time be? I’m just saying,” Jeremy said with another shrug. “Talk it over with him tonight and call me in the morning.”
I nodded. “All right.”
He led me down the stairs and out of the house. After he locked up, he shook my hand. “I hope you two can work things out. You two make a good couple.”
“Thank you,” I said with a polite nod.
We went our separate ways then.
Chris didn’t day anything the whole way back to the hotel, but I was glad. I needed some time to think over what Jeremy had said to me.
B∞C
When we got back to the hotel, I still wasn’t speaking to Blake. I was hurt, and it wasn’t just going to go away. I knew that eventually he and I were going to have to have it out, but for the time being, I didn’t feel like talking.
I gathered up a clean pair of boxers and a fresh outfit, and then headed into the bathroom to shave and take a shower.
Once I was done shaving, I turned the water on as hot as I could stand it, stripped down to nothing, and got in.
It was in there no longer than five minutes before I heard the bathroom door open and shut. A moment later, the curtain was pulled back, and there stood Blake, wearing nothing at all.
I licked my lips and looked away, trying my best to remember that I was angry with him.
“Mind if I join you?”
“As a matter of fact, I do.”
“Tough.” He got in, and pulled the shower curtain shut behind him. He took me into his arms, and pressed his forehead against mine. “I’m sorry. If you’re upset about the Jeremy thing, you don’t need to be. I was just joking around. Jeremy is straight and has a girlfriend.”
“Yeah, well you and I were both straight and with a girlfriend when we met,” I reminded him. “What if he wasn’t straight and didn’t have a girlfriend?”
“If you remember correctly, you never got back together with her after that break because you fell or me. Me falling in love with you was a big part of why I broke up with mine. Heck, even if Jeremy was gay and single, I still wouldn’t want him because I have you. I may have dry humped him, but if it were you, I most certainly wouldn’t have been satisfied with just that.”
I smiled a bit. “No?”
He shook his head, and wrapped his arms over my shoulders. “I can’t even stand seeing you naked in the shower right now.” He kissed me, a then trailed his kisses down my chest in a slow and sensual manner.
I bit my bottom lip, stifling back a moan. “No, stop. It’s not just about Jeremy.”
He sighed, and stood back up. “It’s about moving in together, isn’t it?”
I nodded. “You’re just making up excuses to not move in together because you don’t want to live in LA. even though as long as you’re with me, that is what should matter. I know you. You’re just going to keep putting off moving in together until we never do. We’ll never end up living together.”
Blake sighed. “What do you know? Jeremy was right.”
“What do you mean?” I felt my jealousy creeping in again. So now he was talking to Jeremy about us? We had just met the guy!
“He said that that was probably why you were upset. He said you’re afraid of losing me if I keep putting off moving in together. He also asked me when I will be ready to move in together.”
“What did you say?” Maybe Jeremy talking to Blake wasn’t such a bad thing after all.
“I didn’t answer him. However, it made me think. The truth is, I guess I have been putting moving in together off, making excuses not to do so.”
I nodded. “So I wasn’t just being paranoid.”
“It’s not for the reason you think. LA isn’t so bad, and you know as long as I have you, I’ll be more than happy wherever we chose to live.”
“Then what is it?”
He sighed. “I’m afraid to tell our parents about us. I figure that once we move in together, we’ll have to tell them.”
I smiled. “That’s it?”
He nodded. “That’s it.”
I have to admit, I was relieved. I knew that we still had to talk it over, but at least it wasn’t because of me.
I reached out a hand to gently stroke his cheek. He nuzzled his face into my hand and kissed it.
“I'm scared too, but we can’t let this stop us from moving in together. Everything is going to be fine. We can get through this together. The longer we put off telling them, the harder it’s going to be for them to handle. They will wonder why we waited so long to tell them. Besides, the sooner we tell them, the sooner we can relax at the fact that we don’t have to try to hide it from them anymore. The sooner we tell them, the sooner they can accept it,” I reasoned.
“Or not accept it,” he said.
“We have to have faith that they will. Besides, as long as we have each other, I know I can get through anything. I don’t know about you.” I continued to stroke his cheek, and smiled at him.
He took my hand in his own and placed his lips to it. “You know I feel the same way.”
“As much as I don’t want to wait, if you’d rather wait to move in together, then we can. However, I still think we should tell them.”
He was quiet for a moment, before looking into my eyes and smiling. “You know what? I was thinking we could take that second house we saw. You’re right, it was wonderful.”
I grinned. “Really? It doesn’t have the fireplace in the bedroom that you wanted.”
He shrugged. “Who cares? We can make our own heat. Anyway, it’s like you said. It’s only our first house. I’ll always have one to look forward to when we move to our more permanent place.”
I grinned too, and kissed him deeply. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” He kissed me in return.
“Wanna finish washing up, and then go for lunch? I asked.
He grinned and nodded. “Sure. Do you mind if I have a little appetizer first though?” He didn’t wait for my response as he sank down onto his knees in front of me.
I closed my eyes and nodded. “Mind? Why would I mind?”
I didn’t mind at all.
