He could hear the muffled sound of shuffling from behind the closed door. A few seconds later, the door opened to reveal Nikki. Zac quickly noticed she had unpinned her hair, so her hair was a riot of curls around her face and down her back. She looked stunning.

His heart broke when he took in the tear stains on her cheeks, and the red and puffiness of her eyes, from all of the crying she had done. He hated to cause her pain, he did not enjoy hurting the ones he loved, Nikki especially.

He saw Nikki’s eyes widen when she realised exactly who was stand outside her door. Her voice cracked as she asked “What are you doing here, why are you here, I figured you’d be with your girlfriend. You know the stunning dark haired and thin girl, I’m sure you remember her, right?”

Zac couldn’t help cringe at the acid venom deeply coating her tone of voice. He knew Nikki had to be seriously pissed or harassed before she’d show a less then warm aspect of her personality. Nikki was pure light, warmth and laughter, not acid, ice and venom.

Nikki shook her head and sighed “Just leave Zac, please; I’m not in the mood to deal with your shit right now. Go and sort out your relationship problems with your girlfriend, as I’m not your crisis councillor. I’ve got enough on my plate as it is, more then enough, something I didn’t need nor did I expect.”

Zac quickly placed his foot in the way of the door as she went to close it. He was quicker, and managed to slip inside the apartment, before closing the door behind him, and leaning against it.

Nikki hissed “What the hell do you think your doing. Get out, I told you I’m not in the mood for your shit?” Zac shook his head and told her firmly “Sorry Doll face, no can do, it ain’t gonna happen. You and I need to have a talk, as I learned something very interesting tonight. In fact it was extremely enlightening to say the least.”

Nikki suddenly looked very weary as she asked “Oh really, and what was that. Did you finally decide that you’re head over heels in love with Vanessa after all, and that you two plan on getting married? Have loads of babies, with a cat and dog and a little house with a white picket fence?” her voice was dripping in ice, as she shot venom coated daggers at him from her dark and currently angry looking eyes.

She snorted and added blandly “What was so enlightening that you had to come here. You better not be expecting to slip back beneath my sheets, just because one half of Zanessa is cheating. But you can’t exactly complain about that now, can you. After all you’ve been taking part in certain extra activities yourself, haven’t you?”

Zac couldn’t help but glower at her, as she slowly shattered his heart with her venom coated sarcasm. He spat in frustration and hurt. “No, I discovered that you’ve been keeping something extremely important from me for the last three months. For example, a tiny something, that is currently growing inside of you, in fact.”

Zac growled lowly as he asked her “When were you going to tell me I gotten you pregnant, huh. Perhaps when you stated to show and the press snapped photos of you. Or maybe when the baby was born, and pictures of the baby is plastered all over every fucking paper known.” He added sarcastically “Or maybe when he or she is old enough to wonder where and who their father is.”

Nikki gasped and placed a hand over her mouth and the other over the slight swell of her stomach, a swell that had not been there three months previously. Her voice trembled as she asked “How did you find out, and who else knows?”

Zac ran a hand through his hair wearily. He looked exhausted and truly weary. He replied “When Amanda took you to one side to tell you that my now ex girlfriend was screwing Phillip Spaeth. And that you need to tell me that I was being cheated on, which of course you refused to do.”

He added “Elijah, Vanessa and Ashley heard everything. They learned about your pregnancy, and the night that leaded up to the pregnancy in question. And yes Vanessa and I agree with you our apology for a relationship, manufactured by Disney is a farce.”

He concluded “Which is why as of tomorrow morning at the latest, I and Vanessa are going to have a talk and clear the air, before parting on mutual terms. We both agreed we love each other, but we aren’t in love with each other. We’re in love with two different people.”

Nikki looked stunned and said “But I don’t understand.” Zac shook his head and walked towards her, and placed his hands on the wall beside her, trapping her. He watched her shift uncomfortably and looked down at their feet.

Zac gently reached out and lifted her chin, and told her, as he lovingly caressed the side of her cheek. “Vanessa and I have felt trapped, have been going through the motions, especially since I started filming hairspray.”

He paused, and leaned his forehead against hers, preventing her from turning her head away from him. “She told me she is in love with Phillip. And of course I’m in love with someone else, namely the most beautiful woman I have ever known, my best friend.”

Nikki shuddered and closed her eyes tightly, and let out a small sob, as a single tear trailed down her cheek. Zac felt his heart clenched at the sight of it, as he leaned forwards and gently kissed it away. Nikki sobbed “Damn you please don’t say what you don’t mean. I can’t take it or stand it anymore. It hurts so fucking much; loving you hurts so much and is so exhausting.”

Zac felt tears of anguish and guilt, fill his bright blue eyes. His voice cracked as he told her “I’m sorry doll face, I’m so sorry. I never meant or wanted to hurt you. I love you so much that it’s like a constant physical ache when I’m not with you. I’ve never felt like this before and it scares the shit out of me. But I can’t go on like this; I can’t go on not having you. I need you so damn much.”

Nikki eyes widened, as she looked into his bright blue eyes, brimming with so many emotions, anguish, misery, weariness and above all love, such bright achingly overwhelming love. She was stunned as she saw tears slowly streamed down his cheeks. She realised he was in as much pain as she was.

Nikki choked out, as she clung to him, and he to her. “Does she know you’re here with me?” Zac knew who she was taking about and replied in a tear strained voice. “It was her idea; she was the one who told me to come here. I would have anyway whether she’d liked it or not.”

Nikki let out a half whimper and half sob as he suddenly captured her lips with his own, in a desperate, loving and passionate kiss. Tears streamed down both of their cheeks as they kissed almost frantically. They couldn’t get close enough to each, never close enough, as they wrapped their arms around each other and leaned completely against each other.

Zac gasped out between heated kisses “God I need you so badly Nikki that it hurts. I love you so much, that it’s terrifying.” Nikki sobbed in reply “I need you to, so much, and I love you too, so much.”

Soon the kisses gentled, and they thoroughly explored each others mouths were tongues and nibbled and suckled lovingly on top and lower lips. Then they started to slowly make their way towards the bedroom, shedding items of clothing as they did.

As soon as they slipped inside of the bedroom, Zac closed the door with the sole of his foot.

AN: I’m going to leave it there, but I promise there will be heavy Zikki smut and loving in the next chapter.
