*End of an Era: Left Behind *
Everything had been so surreal as Tarja tried to pack the next day. She’d ended up sleeping on the floor in her bedroom, not having the energy to move when she’d cried herself to sleep.
Now she was standing in front of the DVD collection trying to remember who bought what.
It was impossible, she could remember that she’d bought Sleeping Beauty for Tuomas and Titanic for Jukka, but she couldn’t remember which movies were actually hers! Well, besides Phantom of the Opera…
She’d had the same problem with the CDs! She’d bought a Metallica one for Emppu and a Kate Bush for Marco- but which were hers?
With a sigh, Tarja turned away from the DVDs and CDs, deciding to leave them all here for the boys to have or do whatever they wanted with. She would leave them to the boys and hope that they continued to enjoy them.
Even most of her bed linen would be left behind with only one set, a gift from Nightwish, being taken as well as a blanket her mother had once made.
She didn’t belong here anymore.
This place, this beautiful house and the surrounding area belonged to Nightwish- it was their sanctuary, not hers.
And now every personal item that she’d wanted was packed away and she was almost ready to leave. She didn’t want to, she wished that Tuomas would call her right now and tell her that it had all been a joke or a mistake. That it was okay again and they wanted to meet her here, at the Sanctuary.
But her phone stayed silent and there were no missed calls or messages to her new number. Nightwish could easily contact her by calling her manager- he was now listed on her website and Spinefarm Records knew.
If they wanted her, they could reach her.
With a final sad sigh, Tarja pulled out the letter she had wrote earlier. In the letter she gave Nightwish her final goodbyes and an apology, she had never meant to hurt them and it almost killed her to know what she had done to her friends. She also told them that the CDs and DVDs, as well as anything else she had left behind, were theirs. If they wanted to buy out her share of the house or sell they could contact Jason, she knew that she couldn’t handle discussing selling this place calmly- she loved it too much.
After a moment’s hesitation, Tarja pulled out a printed version of her manuscript and left it on the table with the letter. She had hoped Tuomas would read it, she thought he would like it.
The book would be called Sanctuary and she had already planned to dedicate it to Nightwish- at least now they would definitely read it.
A moment later, the door swung shut as Tarja Turunen left the house that she had come to love with her shoulders slumped and her eyes empty of hope. As the door closed, locking the house in a deep and sorrowful silence, Tarja fled what had once been a place of happiness for her but was now a place of regretful memories…
