Much to Zack’s disappointment the light in his hand didn’t stay steady and unafraid of the dark, it trembled fearfully and constantly kept turning back to the rapidly dwindling light of the front hall. Zack stopped, the light quivered in his hand begging him to go back, his ego stood staunchly against the light demanding he go forward and stop acting like a coward. He stood in the dark, indecisive, when the feeling of panic he’d felt outside overwhelmed him again. He searched the dark hall for the source of his fear and let out a strangled gasp when his light found a smallish woman peeking at him from around a corner. Instantly he felt a flush of embarrassment burn his face when he saw the wide-eyed, pixie-like being staring at him.
“Hi, I didn’t know you were there.” To his chagrin his voice was small and hoarse, he peered closer at the woman and saw a smear of red on her cheek that stood out starkly from her paper white face.
“Are you okay?” he looked back toward the light of the front wondering if anyone had a first aid kit, when he turned back the woman was standing in the hallway with him. She wore a white gown that trailed the floor behind her, she had her long golden hair was plaited and fell to her mid-back. Her face looked like it was molded from one of Raphael’s Madonnas, Zack swallowed convulsively. She took a step toward him, her white gown swishing softly around her feet, and of their own accord Zack’s legs moved him back two steps. The feeling of panic was growing by the second, and seemed to be increasing as the woman stared at him. He swallowed thickly as the woman took another timid step to meet him and again he backed up. Zack turned and looked down the hallway again, when he turned back his breathing hitched and a short, hoarse cry escaped from his lips, the woman was right in front of him the hint of a smile, that was anything but angelic, graced her lips. Zack jumped back and ran like the Hounds of Hell were at his heels, the light of safety had never looked so far away but he was getting closer, and then something grabbed his legs.
Zack fell hard face first onto the cold concrete floor; the flashlight went skittering out of his hands and extinguished leaving him in a thick, congealing dark. The fall winded him and he was pretty sure his nose was bleeding, but the feeling of terror didn’t go away, he tried to stand shakily and his legs were jerked out from underneath him again. Frantically he kicked and thrashed around trying to get away from his unseen attacker; his frazzled mind fleetingly picked up a faint scream followed by a hysterical laugh. Zack tried to stand again and once again met the floor face first and then his attacker started to drag him further back into the darkness at an inhuman speed, that’s when Zack decided to scream.
“Where’s Zacky?” Johnny glanced around the room worriedly, he hadn’t seen the guitarist leave and he wasn’t in the spacious front hall.
“What? I thought he was over there?” Jimmy paused in his theatrics to look for the missing guitarist. Brian moved to look on the other side of the bulky camera equipment and also came up empty. Matt gave them a questioning look while the crew tried, yet again, to get the cameras working, Johnny opened his mouth to ask if the singer had seen Zack when a terrified scream echoed through the building. The blood drained from Johnny’s face and his mouth snapped shut with a metallic ‘click’. Jimmy took off in the direction on the scream followed closely by Matt. Johnny grabbed Brian before he could take off after them; he turned and gave Johnny a totally confused look.
“It’s dark.” He dragged Brian over to a box and grabbed four flashlights then they both ran into the heavy darkness of the hallway.
Jimmy decided he was the dumbest person he knew, followed closely by Matt. He couldn’t see a thing; he didn’t even know if Matt was still behind him, they had both run helter-skelter into the shadowy hallway without any form of light.
“Jimmy?” Matt’s voice came from somewhere to his left, or maybe it was behind him?
“Matty?” Jimmy slowed and tried to find his friend or a wall or something that would help him orient himself.
“Fuck!” Matt slammed into him and they both toppled to the ground swearing and trying to untangle themselves. Now Jimmy was totally messed up, the darkness was almost suffocating and he wasn’t entirely sure which way was up.
“Fuck, Jimmy you okay?” Matt groped through the darkness until he felt part of his friends warm body.
“Yeah man I’m good, how ‘bout you?” Jimmy felt Matt’s hand on his arm he reached over and grabbed his hand and held it tightly.
“How the fuck are we gonna find him if we can’t even tell which way is up.” Matt’s whisper didn’t carry in the dark abyss they had fallen into.
“I don’t know, but we have to, I’ve never heard him scream like that before. We have to find him.”
“Jimmy! Matt!” two small beams of light danced over their tangled forms as Brian and Johnny ran up.
“Here.” Brian both of them a flashlight, “How the hell are gonna find him this place is huge! Fuck he might not even be in here anymore; there’s gotta be a million different ways to get in and outta here.” Brian ran his light over the walls revealing the dozens of branching hallways off the main hall. The three jumped and turned when Johnny let out a strangled sound, his light trembled as he stared at the floor.
“Johnny, what?” Brian reached out and wrapped his hand around his wrist, trying to pull him closer and stopped when he saw what Johnny’s flickering light had found.
“Oh fuck.”
Matt and Jimmy looked at the floor too and paled, the large smear of blood ran as far as their lights reached.
“Zacky!!” their cries barely pierced the darkness and they took off at full speed down the hall.
Zack woke up absolutely freezing, his teeth chattered uncontrollably and his breath fogged in front of him. From what he could tell, the room he was in was mostly shadowed, but there was a sterile white light coming from somewhere. He didn’t really remember where he was, something about a photo shoot, and then a woman…his eyes widened in fear, he tried to sit up but he couldn’t budge; he couldn’t even move his head to look around. He tried to scream for help but a rough gag in his mouth muffled the sound so it didn’t carry more than a few feet.
All of a sudden four painfully bright, white overhead lights snapped on blinding him, he whined in pain and snapped his eyes shut against the strident glare. He heard small whispers all around him, like people were leaning over him speaking to each other in hushed voices; he couldn’t make out what they were saying but a ball of dread formed in his stomach, his limbs shook, and with his adrenaline rush he tried again to get free.
Something cold and sharp pressed into his shoulder and then dragged across his chest until it hit his sternum. The sound of his ripping skin filled his ears and an intense pain ruled his mind; the process was repeated with his other side. Then the blade pressed roughly into the hollow of his throat and was ripped down his body and stopped at his belly button, he screamed and struggled as much as he could. Two more diagonal cuts tore from the bottom of his hip bones to meet the gash on his stomach. The slashes felt like they were on fire, he was dizzy, vaguely he heard himself screaming into the gag but it didn’t matter, he just wanted to get away from the pain and unconsciousness was the closest exit. More slashes lacerated his sides following the curve of his ribs and he sank deeper into the pain-free void of sleep.
The trail of blood ended abruptly in the middle of a pinwheel of hallways.
“Son of a bitch, what the fuck is going on here!?” Synyster was getting closer and closer to that magical point where he was just going to start breaking things until whoever, or *what*ever, decided to give Zacky back. Matt’s face was almost white enough to see in the blackness of the hall without a flashlight, “They must’ve picked him up.” Matt’s light flashed across the undisturbed dust of the floor, something shuffled across the floor down on of the hallways. All four lights whipped toward the sound, whatever had moved was now silent.
“Zacky?” Jimmy’s voice was surprisingly strong; Brian and Matt took a step toward the hallway.
“Don’t, that’s not him…that’s something else.” Johnny moved closer to Jimmy and kept his light trained on the hall. Matt and Brian stopped and looked at him, they looked down the hallway again and then slowly backed up to Jimmy and Johnny, the shuffling sound came again.
“What the fuck-“ Brian’s question was cut off when Matt clapped a hand over his mouth.
“Dude, every horror movie starts with someone asking ‘what’s that’ don’t you *dare* tempt fate with that Godforsaken question.” Matt didn’t take his eyes off the hallway; Brian nodded once and pulled his hand off his face.
“You know what else always happens in scary movies…” Johnny’s voice wavered, Jimmy felt the hair on the back of his neck raise, as one they all slowly turned to look down the hallway behind them.
A/N: BOO! Muhaha is there some grotesque creature sneaking up behind them or are they just paranoid and what of the sounds they’ve been hearing? Where the fuck is Zacky? Will this end up being a deathfic? Well we’ll certainly find out now won’t we…as soon as I write the next chapter =D But reviews would be nice, some creepy ideas are good too, this story is pretty much a blank slate at this point, but I’ll try to get the next chapter written this week ^_^
