Chapter 3: A Friendly Drive
"I just know it's Allison! I just know they are back together! Maybe when Laura has finally forgiven me, we can take both of them on vacation!" Corey thought to himself as he punched the button that calls Allison on speed-dial.
Allison glanced at the phone display in her house. *Corey Sevier? What does he want?* she thought as she pressed the button. "Corey, what's up?"
"Congratulations, Allison! I am SO glad you and Jan are back together! It's like the sun and the moon are aligned again!" Corey said. "WHAT?! Jan Oramu? I hate to be the one raining down on your align- ment parade, but Jan and I aren't back together. You're mistaken. I haven't even talked to Jan in a month! You haven't been drinking, have you, Corey Sevier?" Allison asked her friend. "Everything okay with you and Laura?"
Corey didn't speak for several minutes. *If it isn't Allison, then who was moaning Jan's name? Then who is the one I told Jan he deserves?* Corey thought. "I'm so sorry, Allison. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions so fast. And no, I haven't been drinking. In fact, Laura and I have been fighting." Corey said to Allison.
"Oh my god, I'm sorry, Corey!" Allison said, genuine concern for her friend she only knows because of Laura. "Uhm... do you..." Allison started, wanting to ask if he knows the reason they have been fighting and if he wants to talk about it, but Corey cuts her off.
"I accused Laura of something having happened at the Starbucks where Tyra works between Laura and Jan. We were having sex and she suddenly asked me to stop. I lost it and even slapped her!"
*Okay, Corey Sevier... T.M.I. right there. So you guys finally started to try sex, huh?* She thought. In her relationship with Jan, Allison never suspected Jan to have feelings for Laura Vandervoort. "Give Laura some time, Corey. If you'll excuse me, I need to go catch some Z's, since tomorrow will be my last shooting day. Goodnight Corey." Allison said, not wanting to hang up just yet.
"You know, that is exactly what Jan said to me. Okay. I won't keep you. Goodnight, Allison." Corey said, blew her a friendly kiss through the phone and then broke the connection.
"So Jan finally moved on after we broke up? Good for him. I wonder who his girlfriend is though." Allison said out loud before she placed her phone on her nightstand and fell asleep in her bed.
"So if it's not ALLISON, then WHO is it? Surely it cannot be my Laura?" Corey himself wondered out loud. He sighed. Jan and Allison were right: give Laura some time. So he got under the covers and fell asleep as well.
The next morning, Laura had forgotten to set the alarm, so she was woken up by her cellphone's ringtone. She brought the phone to her ear. She knew that she had finally had sex with Jan last night and smiled at his sleeping form. He seemed to be able to sleep through anything! "LAURA VANDERVOORT?! WHERE ARE YOU?!"
Laura shrieked and woke up Jan. "ALLISON! I'm so sorry!" Laura said, putting her cellphone on speaker and racing to get her clothes on. "You're supposed to be shooting our scene as possessed Kara by Brainiac with me, remember?" Allison asked her. "I'm sorry, Allison, we'll go shopping once we're done, okay? I'll be right over!" Laura said, breaking the connection. Jan was mute as he too got dressed. "Let me drive you to work, Laura."
Laura kissed him softly. "Oh God, I hope they aren't going to fire me!" Laura cried. Jan wrapped his arms around her. "Relax, Laura." Jan said as Laura got her stuff and together made their way to Jan's car and drove over to the Smallville Studios.
Allison was already waiting outside and gasped when they drove onto the parking lot. *Funny, normally Corey always drives her to work...* Allison thought as they parked and walked out, hurrying over to her.
"Funny, normally it's always your best friend Corey Sevier who drives her to work, Jan." Allison said as she held the door open for both friends. *Surely they aren't lovers, are they? Very strange...* Allison thought. "Allison." Jan said with a curt nod.
"Jan. We'll talk later, okay?" Alison asked as they walked away from him and to the Talon set after Laura was done changing into her clothes and going over her lines.
"Hey, Jan." Jan turned around. "Tom! Hey. How have you been?" Jan asked Tom after a high five and low five. "I've been doing good. Wrapped everything up already, as a matter of fact. We only need Laura and Allison's scene as Kara and Chloe and then James as Brainiac with Allison as Chloe and then we are done. It'll be a wrap!" Tom said grinning.
"That's great to hear, buddy." Jan said as they walked to the cafetaria. "Are you hungry, buddy?" Tom asked Jan. Jan chuckled. "You betcha. I actually had nothing to eat yet." Jan told him. Tom looked at Jan. "So, I saw the two of you together at the parking lot." *NOT YOU TOO!* Jan thought. "Yeah, we're just friends though. Her and Corey have been fighting, about what I don't know, so I let her stay at my place for awhile." Jan explained as they paid for their food. "That's very kind of you, Jan. You being there for Laura... as a friend." Tom said as they walked to a table to eat their food. "Hey, we're actually having the Season 7 Wrap Party tonight. Would you like to come? Corey doesn't know yet." Tom told him as he pulled out his cellphone and texted Corey with the same info. When he snapped his cell shut, Tom looked at Jan, who hadn't said a word yet.
"I would love to, Tom. Thanks." Jan said while eating his food. Then Tom got a text message back. It read: I would love to, buddy. Thanks!: "Awesome, Corey will be there too, I'll put the both of you on the list." Tom said. "So... next month Laura, Corey and I will be going on vacation to Hawaii." Jan said. "That's pretty cool. Hey, how are you holding up, man? Since... well..." Tom got cut off. "... Allison and I decided to call it quits? I'm dealing. Haven't found a girlfriend yet." Jan lied, he sure as hell wasn't going to tell anyone of his friends that he had sex with Laura Vandervoort. Maybe someday, but not right now. "How are things with Jamie?" "They're good." Tom said. They were thinking of having a baby, but they weren't going to tell their friends. Not yet.
It didn't take long before Allison and Laura joined the two males at their table with their food. "AND another season has ended!" Allison said. "I'm so glad I'm going to be a regular for season 8." Laura said. "And thank the heavens they didn't fire me. I already had a rough night last night." Laura added. Jan's hand going to hers and wrapped it around Laura's, right in front of Tom and Allison. "Corey hit me last night. So I stayed at Jan's last night." Laura said. Everything clicked into place in Allison's mind. *OH MY GOD! THEY DID HAVE SEX LAST NIGHT!* Allison thought. "HE WHAT?!" Tom thundered. "We told him to give Laura some time to forgive him." Jan and Allison spoke up at exactly the same time. Jan and Allison stared at eachother. "Wait a minute! You called and...?" They asked again at the same time. Jan nodded, then Allison did the same. Laura had to act quick. "We were watching tv and Corey called Jan." Laura told them. "I heard everything they said." Laura added. Allison looked at Laura. *Look who's going all Little Miss Liar.* Allison thought, not smiling nor dropping any hint that she knew. Why would Corey call thinking her and Jan were back together? It could only mean that Corey called the moment Jan and Laura were having SEX!
Tom was furious. "Oh my god, a couple of minutes earlier I invited Corey to the Wrap Party tonight... and now I hear that he hurt one of my friends?! I need to discuss it with the other cast members about this." Tom said, which made Allison feel sad for Corey. *Hey, it's HIS own fault he slapped Laura, but he was right about his suspicions of Laura and Jan.* Allison thought.
The others didn't know, but Jan and Laura were holding hands under the table, softly squeezing eachother's hand. It was their way of showing compassion, instead of looking eachother in the eyes in front of Tom and Allison. Laura nodded. "I think it's best if we don't invite him, even if Jan and I are going on vacation with him." Laura said to which Tom nodded, Jan too. Allison raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Where to?" Allison asked. This time Laura did look at Jan. "Hawaii." Jan said, which made Allison remember their first time immediately, Jan's nightly skinny-dippings as well. "That's nice." Allison said, putting on a fake smile. "So to get back to the matter at hand. I too think we shouldn't invite Corey. The last thing we want is to have a fight with Corey." Allison said, playing the game. Even if she wouldn't tell Corey about the decision, she would sure tell him about Laura and Jan... but maybe not tonight. Then everyone hugged one another.
It was weird for Allison, huging her ex, but if he wanted to be with Laura, then so be it.
