|| Abbie’s POV ||
I watched Sonnie looking over the two new basses that sat in her room, a disgusted look on her face as she touched the shiny new instruments. David had dropped them off an hour ago; Sonnie still hadn’t picked them up. I wasn’t really surprised, she liked to pick out her things. To pay for them herself- these were just given to her. She didn’t like it.
“I feel like I’ve sold my soul to the devil,” Sonnie mumbled, taking her hand away from the pretty green bass and putting it through her mess of blonde hair. She hadn’t done up her braids today, too lazy to this morning after only an hour of sleep the night before.
“No you didn’t, Sonnie,” I promised her, “I mean look, they are pretty.” I commented, picking up the red and black checkered one with the symbol of our new band on it.
She wrinkled her nose at it, walking away and refusing to take it from me. Instead she picked up her favourite guitar, it was white and had our names scrawled across it along with Zombie Anesthetic. It was the first one she had ever bought herself, when we had first decided to start a band.
“Yanno… we’re never going to be playing our own songs again…” She said with a sigh as she leaned against her dresser and started playing a few cords. I frowned when I realize what they were. It was to the first and, in our opinion, best song we had ever worked on together. “One last time?” She asked me with a pitiful smile.
We were already packed; we had done that all the night before. And David wasn’t due for a little while still, so I thought at least. So I smiled at her, walking out of her room without another word and she followed me. It seemed like a completely normal thing as she started the song. Neither of us heard the door opening or the people walking in the apartment.
Sonnie was too far gone in the song to hear anything else, and with her back towards the door way watching me as we played, she never saw them. David Jost was standing right there, a few more people behind him. He held a finger to his lips to tell me to continue and not to let Sonnie know he was there.
“Don't let memories go, of me and you. The world is down there out of view… Please don't jump. Don't jump.” She sang the words softly, ending the song, “And if all that can't hold you back… I'll jump for you…” She held the note for a moment as we finished the last few cords and beats of the song and David clapped his hands together. Sonnie nearly screamed, turning around and looking wide-eyed at him and the others. It was a song we had never played in a show before. No one but us had ever heard it.
“How long have you guys been there?” She asked, chewing on her bottom lip as the blonde bangs fell over her eyes, she looked different then she did yesterday. Her braids compared to the straight hair made her look like a completely different person.
“For awhile,” David said with smile, walking over to Sonnie and putting a hand on her shoulder, “That was amazing. I don’t know why you didn’t sing that one yesterday. The guys would have loved it.” He said.
Sonnie scowled, shaking her head and taking off her guitar, setting it down in its case that was laying open next to my drums. “No… that song is specifically for Abbie and I. No one had ever even heard it before now.” She said with a shrug of her shoulder, David opened his mouth to protest but Sonnie just stood up and gave him a smile, “Alright. We’re packed and ready to go. I don’t know why you brought so many people to help. Abbie and I are alright with carrying our own stuff.”
“You girls are in a big time band now. You don’t do stuff like that for yourselves. Saki will escort you both to the car while the others start taking your things downstairs.”
Sonnie and I gave each other both a look that told each other that neither of us were okay with being waited on like this, David had already started pushing us towards the door and another guy was right behind him. We were a little afraid of him- strike that. We were really scared of him. He was big; he could probably break us in half if he tried. I didn’t like him.
“A limo?” Sonnie said to me as soon as we were sitting inside of it and Saki was standing in front of the door. “Dude, we’re going two miles to a hotel. What the hell do we need to be in a limo for? Fuck, I could ride my motorcycle there faster then this could go and bring less attention to myself.”
I laughed a little at her, shaking my head and looking out the window that didn’t have our big bodyguard standing outside of it, “It is a little strange. But life is going to change now, Sonnie. This is what we’ve always wanted… to be in a famous band. Fans everywhere. It’s our dream.”
“Correction, Abbie.” She said, pointing at me with an accusing look, “Our dream was to be in our own band. With our friends. Not some replacement girls for guys who left a band.” She sighed, “I mean, especially this one. There is no way I can replace Georg on bass when I’ve never played it before.”
I wrinkled my nose at her, watching as she started grabbing at strands of her hair and braiding them into the straightness that was already there. “We’ll be better then them. I just know it.” I smiled at her, pushing my red hair from my face, “Trust me. Have I ever told you something that I wasn’t right about?”
She shook her head at me, flashing me a smile that let me know I was right on all accounts. “Okay… you’re right. We can do this.” She said, taking a deep breath and closing her eyes some.
