Chapter 3:
It was a relatively warm night, considering the season. There were still traces of the sun in the sky as four sets of legs made their way along the tarred road. The sound of their feet connecting with the ground was the only noise in the otherwise quiet street. Little did the residents of that street know that the four men who walked along their street were four of the most dangerous beings in existence.
Vengeance, Synyster, Shadows and Christ walked in silence, heading towards the neon lights that started shining brighter and brighter as their surroundings got darker. The four demonic beings were headed towards a bar that was at the end of the street, disguised by more human attributes; normal coloured eyes not dead, frightening ones.
The four entered the bar, still staying silent and made their way to a vacant booth, hidden away in the corner. They took their seats as Christ went to grab their drinks. Vengeance was a little concerned. “How is this part of my training?” He snarled, getting a hard elbow in his ribs.
“Firstly; you need to act more like a fuckin’ ape.” Synyster hissed at him, in a voice that sounded not like his normal voice. “And, this is part of your training. You need to pick out your target.”
“My target?” Vengeance asked, slightly confused. “What the fuck are you talking about?”
“You have to kill your first human, of course.” Shadows grinned at him. “That will prove what sort of demon you are and your strength.”
“Alright.” Vengeance smirked. “Could be fun.”
“What could be fun?” Christ asked as he brought over their pitcher of beer and four glasses.
“Picking out my target.” Vengeance smirked, glancing around the bar, checking out all his options. “Does it matter who I pick?”
“Not really.” Shadows shrugged. “It only matters how you kill them.”
“Who was yours?” Vengeance asked curiously while taking a sip of his beer.
“A girl named Ashley.” Shadows grinned. “I raped and brutally murdered her. Synyster said it was very original.”
“Mine was a man named Paul.” Christ grinned. “Mine was very brutal indeed. I wouldn’t be surprised if they never found his body. His family probably still thinks he’s missing.” He laughed wickedly.
“Who was yours?” Vengeance turned to ask Synyster, who was taking a sip of his beer.
“A man named Brian Haner.” Synyster answered before taking a deep breath. “It was a very messy job but my father was satisfied. It’s his name I use when I’m human.”
Vengeance nodded, still looking around the room at all his possible targets. It was then that he noticed that he could feel someone’s eyes locked onto him. His head snapped in an inhuman movement and locked onto the girl who was staring at him. She looked horrified and turned her head away and began talking to her friend.
He narrowed his eyes at the very pretty blonde girl. She was familiar in some way to him and he couldn’t quite wrap his head around it. He stared at her intently, watching the way her lips moved when she spoke and the way her chest moved up at up and down as she breathed. There was something nearly hypnotic about her.
It was Christ’s laughter that snapped him out of his trance. “I think you’ve found your target.” He laughed while taking another long drink.
Vengeance turned his head back to the table to look at the other three. Christ and Shadows were laughing nearly hysterically while Synyster smirked. “She looks familiar.” Vengeance said quietly.
“It’s no fuckin’ surprise.” Shadows’ voice boomed.
Vengeance looked at him quizzically. “What do you mean?”
“We used to work with her way way way back when you actually used to work.” Shadows grinned at Vengeance’s puzzled expression. “Of course you wouldn’t remember her. You never paid attention to anyone.” Vengeance opened his mouth to speak but Shadows cut across him. “Her name is Gena. She used to work on the same floor as us. She had quite the crush on you.”
Synyster burst out into laughter at that line. “That is TOO fuckin’ funny.”
“I don’t remember her at all.” Vengeance said quietly.
“Who cares?” Synyster snapped. “Are you gonna fuckin’ kill her or not?”
Vengeance paused for a moment, instantly feeling a little bad for the girl. He didn’t want to kill her. He’d rather kill anyone but her.
Synyster could read him like an open book. “He doesn’t want to. What a fuckin’ pussy.”
“I’m not a pussy.” Vengeance growled. “Just not her.”
“Tell me why the fuck not?!” Synyster growled. “She is nothing but a waste of fuckin’ air.”
“I don’t know.” Vengeance groaned. “I just can’t.”
“You weren’t ready for this. I should have fuckin’ known.” Synyster snarled. “IF you were truly ready, you would kill absolutely anyone. My father was wrong about you. Perhaps you’re just the worthless piece of shit I always thought you were.” He moved his lips right up close to Vengeance’s ear to say harshly, “you are nothing.”
Vengeance snapped his head and glared right into Synyster’s eyes. His eyes turning a slight red colour as his anger began to grow. “I am not a fuckin’ worthless piece of shit. You want me to prove my power to you?” Vengeance hissed, their faces so close together that their noses were touching. Synyster nodded. “See those four guys over there with the leather jackets? I’ll kill all four right in front of you, your fuckin’ majesty.”
Synyster smirked. “Do it then. Prove to me that you are not a fuckin’ pussy.”
Vengeance stood up abruptly and walked over to the four much larger men and punched the largest square in the jaw. The other three watched in astonishment. “What the fuck is your problem, man?” The largest yelled at him, holding his jaw while his other hand grabbed a hold of Vengeance’s collar.
“I want a fight.” Vengeance grinned.
“You seriously fuckin’ think that YOU can take on ME?” The largest yelled, rolling his eyes.
“I can take all four of you on.” Vengeance grinned.
“Is this some kind of joke?” The largest laughed.
“No.” Vengeance said defiantly. “My three friends will watch as I beat you all. And then the winner gets $5000.”
“Alright, you’re on.” The largest grinned. “We’ll meet at the abandoned warehouse that’s three blocks over in fifteen minutes. I want to finish my fuckin’ beer first.”
“See you soon.” Vengeance grinned, being released by the much larger man. His grin grew even larger when he saw the looks on the faces of Synyster, Shadows and Christ. “What?” He asked, feigning innocence.
“Let’s see what you’ve got then.” Synyster growled in excitement.
The four finished their pitcher of beer before leaving the bar and heading to the abandoned warehouse three blocks over. The four of them stood in silent anticipation as they heard the loud voices of at least four people approaching the warehouse. There was a loud bang and the door opened, revealing four, bald, muscular men charging through the doors, eyes keenly set on Vengeance.
“You sure you still want to do this, big guy?” The largest and clearly the leader called out to Vengeance.
“Definitely.” He grinned. “What are your names?”
“I am Adam, leader of the Hell’s Demons.” Adam spoke loudly. The four demons tried hard not to laugh. “And these are Chris, Craig and Steve.”
“Good.” Vengeance grinned.
“What’s yours?” Adam called out, folding his arms across his chest.
“Vengeance.” He answered. “Let’s do this. I’m sick of fucking around.”
The four Hell’s Demons exchanged looks with each other before they decided they would all advance on him at once. “Show us what you’ve fuckin’ got, Vengeance!” Synyster screamed from behind him as Vengeance watched the four of them get closer and closer with every foot.
It wasn’t until they were no further than six metres away that Vengeance raised his hand up and ceased three of the men’s movements. The fourth and smallest man, Steve, was still charging towards him. Vengeance grinned and turned his attentions to him. He raised his hand again and froze Steve in mid step. He made a choking motion with his hand, causing a loud spluttering sound to come from Steve, watching his body go slowly motionless was not as much fun as Vengeance had imagined. He released the choking motion and with a simple flick of his wrist, there was a large tower of fire that rose from underneath Steve and swallowed his body in flames. There was about a minute of his screams before his body had shriveled into nothing more then a pile of burnt flesh.
“What the fuck is this?!” Adam screamed, his eyes widened in horror as he saw Vengeance’s blood red eyes gleaming wickedly back at him. “What the fuck are you?!”
“One of Hell’s real Demons.” Vengeance smirked.
He moved his hand, the three remaining survivors watching in horror as they waited for their inevitable fate. Vengeance clenched his hand into a fist and then released it quickly, a dozen razor sharp blades shooting out from his hand and towards the motionless Craig, whose look of utmost horror on his made Vengeance laugh. Craig died instantly, the blades piercing his body’s most vulnerable places and he keeled over, collapsing on the floor in a pool of his own blood.
Vengeance turned his attention towards Chris, the second largest, who looked nothing but scared. He took a few steps towards him, watching the very vulnerable man’s eyes well up with tears, as if suddenly realizing his own horrible fate. Vengeance grinned, turning his head to the side and watching Chris’ face tremble with fear as Vengeance raised his hand and shaped it into a gun. He cocked his hand as if pretending to shoot and with a loud bang, the warehouse was filled with the sound of an echoing gunshot. He repeated this motion a number of times, hitting his target all across his chest, his legs, arms and even groin before pointing for one final shot. Chris was barely breathing which only made Vengeance hungrier. He pointed the gun towards Chris’ head and shot one last time, the gunshot connecting with his temple, the blood spurting everywhere as Chris keeled over and landed on the floor.
“Do you’re fuckin’ worst to me, you creep!” Adam screamed as Vengeance grinned wickedly. He flattened out his hand, his palm facing towards Adam and his fingers pointing to the ceiling. He closed his eyes for a moment and with his mind forced an almighty light, blood red in colour, that charged through Adam in an instant, his horrific screams so loud the glass on the warehouse shattered into hundreds of pieces. Then it was over. Adam’s body lay dead on the floor, looking like there was nothing wrong with him whatsoever.
Synyster was the first to react. He could hear the police sirens. Knowing he had no other option, he grabbed a hold of the three of their shirts and instantly transported them out of the warehouse and back to Hell. “That was too fuckin’ close.” Synyster growled, releasing their shirts.
“But it was fuckin’ awesome!” Christ grinned, his eyes growing nearly as wide as his grin. “I’ve been training forever and I don’t know how to do anything like that!”
“Yeah, how the fuck did you do it?” Shadows asked eagerly.
“I’ve just got a good teacher.” Vengeance grinned. Synyster cocked an eyebrow at him.
“If you two will excuse us, we have matters to attend you privately.” Synyster said quietly, grabbing a hold of Vengeance’s arm and dragging him away from Christ and Shadows and through the large doors that lead to his room.
Synyster released him after a moment and the pair walked silently through the long, winding corridor. It wasn’t until they reached Synyster’s large bedroom that they finally spoke to each other. “You need to rest.” Synyster said quietly.
“Are you even going to say anything about what happened on the surface?” Vengeance whined, folding his arms across his chest.
“It was…impressive.” Synyster said quietly, locking eyes with Vengeance. “But you must rest to recover your strength.”
Vengeance got changed and crawled into the large bed in the room when he noticed Synyster was not getting in on the other side. “Aren’t you coming?” He asked curiously, watching Synyster intently.
“I have important matters to attend you.” Synyster answered. Vengeance could tell he was lying; there was something not quite right with the way he spoke. “Good night.”
“Good night.” Vengeance mumbled, resting his head on the oversized pillows and shutting his eyes as he heard Synyster exit through the door. Something was not right.
