The next day Chris and Gerry were up early for their flight. Gerry got out of bed first and kissed Chris. "I'm going to make us breakfast. You stay in bed and get some more sleep."
"Breakfast? But we need to get to the airport."
"I'm sure we could spare some time to have breakfast together first," he smiled as he walked into the kitchen.
Gerry was in the kitchen cooking when the door opened. "I'm here!" Danni, Chris' best friend walked into the kitchen. "Since when do you do the cooking?"
"May I ask why you are here in my apartment this early?" Gerry knew Chris gave Danni a key to the apartment. She took care of business whenever Chris had to travel with him.
"Because you asked me to, remember? Something about the plan. You know, the plan...."
Gerry shook his head to clear his mind. "Sorry, I didn't get much sleep last night."
"I wonder why," Danni smirked. "So is everything set?"
"Yes. Tomorrow night at the restaurant. Before you fly out to L.A. can you pick up the ring. I'll meet you outside the restaurant before Chris arrives to get it from you."
"And Chris doesn't suspect a thing?"
"Not at all. She thinks that the reason I don't want to be anything more with her than friends with benefits is because I love her too much and don't want to hurt her. Me proposing is going to be a shock to her. I just hope she says yes."
"Trust me Gerry, I know my best friend. She will say yes."
"Here is your plane ticket. Your flight is later tonight. And I booked a hotel for you."
"Thanks, I know when I took the job of being your replacement assistant I didn't think I'd get all these perks," she joked. "So where's Chris?"
"Still in bed. I told her I'd wake her when breakfast is done. Want some? I can cook some extra."
"No I'm good. I ate before I got over here."
Chris and Danni had been best friends all their lives. When Chris got the job from Gerry, Danni was beyond ecstatic. Gerry was her favorite actor and now her best friend was working for him. The first time Chris had to travel with Gerry, she realized there would be so much work for her when she came back. That's when she talked Gerry into giving Danni the job to be in charge.
Breakfast was finished and Gerry went to get Chris. "Danni, what are you doing here so early?"
Danni had to think quickly for a lie. "I forgot what time your flight was so I decided why not come now."
"Well you know it's always a pleasure to have you here," Chris smiled as she went over to kiss Gerry on the cheek. "Are you sure you're all packed?"
"I told you I packed everything the other day. All we have to do is have breakfast and then head to the airport."
Chris nodded, hoping everything would go well. "Danni, everything you need is on the desk. After Hawaii, I'll be coming back here. Gerry has to stay in L.A. a little longer for some work.
"You mean I get to spend time with my best friend? Boy do I love this job."
Chris laughed as she and Gerry finished breakfast. "Gerry, don't you think you should get dressed before we actually leave. Don't know if they'll appreciate you being in your pajamas."
"Though the female security guards may not mind seeing him shirtless," Danni teased.
"I'll be right back," Gerry said excusing himself and leaving.
Chris turned to her best friend. "Alright, so why are you really here this early?"
